  • Need suggestion for FireFox add-on to simplify tweeting with multiple accounts.

    I've been using the Firefox Shareaholic browser add-on to post links quickly to my twitter account, and am very happy with it. Recently, however, my company has tasked me with updating our corporate twitter account too. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to offer the ability to register multiple twitter accounts and let you select one when you tweet the current page. I'm looking for suggestions on a browser add-on for Firefox to do just this. Just to be clear, I'm not looking to be able to post a single link to multiple twitter accounts at one time. I just want a one click "twitter this" that lets me pick which account to post it to. Bonus: If you know a workaround to do this in Shareaholic, that would be even better.

  • Why is there no 64-bit Linux Firefox build?

    It seems that I have to build my own 64-bit Firefox for Linux, as Mozilla won't support it until Firefox 4. Why is this? It looks to me as though it works fine, although without some of the speed improvements to the Javascript engine which the 32-bit version gets. (Edit: Yes I could run the 32-bit version but I'm trying to keep my system clear of 32-bit cruft and libraries etc, and all the plug-ins worked fine in 3.0.11 64-bit unofficial builds.) Update : No longer relevant as Mozilla provide 64-bit builds, but they don't show them on the download pages of mozilla.org, just on the ftp site as mentioned in one of the answers below.

  • Firefox 11.0 Right-Click Dropdown Menu (and Menu Options at Window Top) Flickering - Potential Bug?

    About a week ago my Windows 7 machine starting exhibiting odd Firefox behavior. When I right click on something the drop-down menu flickers and when the mouse is hovering over a field, I can't really see it. This same behavior happens in other ways too, like in the top File, Edit , View, etc menus. I click them and they flicker, when I hover over them, and then they get obscured when I hover over the one I want. I did some research and didn't really find anything. Some people found similar behavior in applications THEY were building. But mine is a global problem. Happens on all sites, as far as I can tell. This is why I suspect it's my Firefox installation. I thought about reinstalling, but if there was another option, I'd like to explore that too. The behavior is not really capture-able, so I don't have anything except words to describe it.   • How do I fully clear Firefox's cache of CSS and JS files?

    I work on a website at my work. The issue is that if I visit the site, which uses the cached versions of the CSS and JS files, and then upload an updated copy of a CSS/JS file, Firefox will still use the cached version. I can go to 'Tools-Clear Recent History' and clear the Cache of "Everything" and it still uses the cached version of the files. It will eventually updated and use the new files, but it can takes hours for this change to occur. So, how do I completely clear Firefox's cache of these files?

  • How can I restore the stored password in firefox 15.0.1 when deleted by error?

    I, by error, deleted my stored passwords, using the "Wise disc cleaner 7" program. As I saw on another thread, the passwords are stored in 2 files signons.sqlite and the encryption key file key3.db When opening the file signons.sqlite with the text editor, I can see that the web adresses of the sites belonging to the passwords are still there. They have not been deleted by the "Wise disc cleaner 7" program, and adding a stored password on Firefox just modifies the file. However, Firefox will not display my old stored passwords and neither their respective sites. Is there any way to "undelete" the passwords?

  • How to change the border color of a Grouped UITableView

    This concerns iPhoneOS-sdk-3.2 I am having difficulty changing the border color of a grouped UITableView. I can change the cell background color, separator color, text color, quite easily now, and the rounded corners clip correctly, even when highlighted with whatever colors I have chosen. However the surrounding border remains infuriatingly gray despite many different attempts. I have read all of the related posts I can find via Google, let alone stackoverflow. I have tried both a programmatic and xib-based solution and both provide the same results.     I am building an application that implements a custom view on iPhone’s native media player. I want your help in deciding directions to lay this effort. At present I have find out that iPhone SDK doesn’t support APIs to customize media player. I need these things in the player: I would like to have custom views i.e. want to change all control buttons on player like Play/Pause, seek bar etc. The background of player will also need to be different. The player has to play audio or video file from local/remote location. Can i use MPMoviePlayerController if it can be customized (How to do it ??). However, any other third party player approved by iPhone which has an ability to download and play the media file from local/remote location is also fine. It will be great to have an access to media player buffer so that it can be encrypted. I have following questions: 1.Any help in building/customizing player..... 2.Do you see issues in signing of application? 3.Does Apple have any restrictions on customizing media player? 4.Any sample iPhone application where media player is customized Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

When i run this with 3.2 sdk or on the iPad the UITextField isn't aligned properly to the left, overlapping the cell and i have to use a UITextField width of 270 instead of 280 UITextField *txtField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 270, 24)]; It seems something is wrong the pixel ratio. How can this be fixed? Is there a way to determine the version of os the device has ( 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 3.2 or maybe even the 4.0) or can it be done another way? Thank you Teo

  • Why is this XMLHttpRequest sample from Mozilla is not working in Firefox 3?

    I'm trying to get the sample code from Mozilla that consumes a REST web service to work under Firefox 3.0.10. The following code does NOT work in Firefox but does in IE 8! Why is this not working? Does IE 8 have support for XMLHttpRequest? Most examples I've seen use the ActiveX allocation. What should I be doing? XMLHttpRequest seems more standardized. Sample: var req = new XMLHttpRequest(); req.open('GET', 'http://localhost/myRESTfulService/resource', false); // throws 'undefined' exception req.send(null); if(req.status == 0) dump(req.responseText); The open statement is throwing an exception with the description 'undefined'. This is strange as I allocate the req object, am running it in Firefox, and checked to make sure it is defined before calling open (which it says it is of type 'object'). My problem was indeed cross-domain. I was viewing my site unpublished (just on the file system) which was hitting a published service. When I published my site under the same domain it worked. Which also brings up an important distinction between IE and Firefox. When IE experiences this scenario, it prompts the user whether or not they accept the cross-domain call. Firefox throws an exception. While I'm fine with an exception, a more descriptive one would have been helpful. Thanks for all those who helped me.

    Example: I am looking to see if "arg" is a special keyword in Lua. I go to the Lua reference manual at http://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/manual.html. I search for "arg". I find hundreds of occurrences of the word "argument(s)" or "vararg". Any ideas? I know Firefox won't implement whole words as a core feature (something about cluttering up the ui... argh...), and I couldn't find a good addon that implemented this well.

    I often use facebook for communication while working. When I do, I'd rather not see the facebook newsfeed. Unfortunately it's hard to remember to not go to the frontpage and use facebook.com/messages or facebook.com/events. Is there any way to always redirect from the url https://www.facebook.com/ to https://www.facebook.com/events/list? I use firefox on osx. I have tried the redirector addon and I'm not able to make it work, not sure if I'm missing something obvious or if it's outdated/buggy.

    I'm looking for a macro that specified the exact version of the iPhone SDK used for compilation. This is needed because when compiling with (and only with) SDK 3.0, I need to add some additional code. __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED is not the right choice here, since it can be set by the user with parameter -mmacosx-version-min. For example, a user can compile with min version -mmacosx-version-min=3.0 in SDK 3.1, so a check for __IPHONE_OS_VERSION_MIN_REQUIRED == 30000 would be true, even if the user is compiling with SDK 3.1.   • What IPC method should I use between Firefox extension and C# code running on the same machine?

    I have a question about how to structure communication between a (new) Firefox extension and existing C# code. The firefox extension will use configuration data and will produce other data, so needs to get the config data from somewhere and save it's output somewhere. The data is produced/consumed by existing C# code, so I need to decide how the extension should interact with the C# code. Some pertinent factors: It's only running on windows, in a relatively controlled corporate environment. I have a windows service running on the machine, built in C#. Storing the data in a local datastore (like sqlite) would be useful for other reasons. The volume of data is low, e.g. 10kb of uncompressed xml every few minutes, and isn't very 'chatty'. The data exchange can be asynchronous for the most part if not completely. As with all projects, I have limited resources so want an option that's relatively easy. It doesn't have to be ultra-high performance, but shouldn't add significant overhead. I'm planning on building the extension in javascript (although could be convinced otherwise if really necessary) Some options I'm considering: use an XPCOM to .NET/COM bridge use a sqlite db: the extension would read from and save to it. The c# code would run in the service, populating the db and then processing data created by the service. use TCP sockets to communicate between the extension and the service. Let the service manage a local data store. My problem with (1) is I think this will be tricky and not so easy. But I could be completely wrong? The main problem I see with (2) is the locking of sqlite: only a single process can write data at a time so there'd be some blocking. However, it would be nice generally to have a local datastore so this is an attractive option if the performance impact isn't too great. I don't know whether (3) would be particularly easy or hard ... or what approach to take on the protocol: something custom or http. Any comments on these ideas or other suggestions?   • Upgrade to iPhone 3.0 sdk and now simulator shows blank screen.

    I have an iPhone app that uses an UITabBarController, which contains two UINavigationControllers, each of which in turn contains one or more TableViewControllers (actually, customized UIViewControllers implementing UITableViewDelegate and UITableViewDataSource. ) On launch, it displays the UITabBarController with one of the tableviews displayed. Everything is coded; Interface Builder was NOT used to make any of the UI stuff. It was written in SDK 2. It worked fine in sdk 2. I recently updated to SDK 3.0. In Info, I set the Base SDK setting to iPhone Simulator 3.0. Now, when I launch the application in Simulator, I see only a blank white screen with the status bar at the top. No signs of my app. However, when I exit the app, the missing tableview displays briefly as the exiting animation is playing. Also, on the blank white screen I can still click where the navigation buttons should be and find that, when I exit the app and the missing screen briefly displays, that navigation has taken me to another screen. So the buttons work, and presumably the tableviewcells are there, they just cannot be seen. Has anyone seen anything like this? Does anyone have any idea what is causing it and how I can fix it? I noticed that sample apps, such as SQLiteBooks, seem to work fine when updating to SDK 3.0. My app isn't very much different from SQLiteBooks in terms of technologies used, except that, as I said above, I do not use Interface Builder. Thanks
