• C# Prevent ItemChecked event on a ListView from Interering with SubItemClicked?

  I am using a in-place editable listview control for a project. The editable listview adds a 'SubItemClicked' event so that each 'cell' can be edited. lstSD2.SubItemClicked += new ListViewEx.SubItemEventHandler(lstSD2_SubItemClicked); I also have the listview checkboxes enabled with a 'ItemChecked' event. The problem is that once the 'ItemChecked' event is enabled double-clicking on any row fires the 'ItemChecked' event and prevents the 'SubItemClicked' event from firing. Is there a way to enforce the need to actually 'check' the listview checkbox instead of firing whenever the row is double-clicked?

• WCF Data Services consuming data from EF based repository

  We have an existing repository which is based on EF4 / POCO and is working well. We want to add a service layer using WCF Data Services and looking for some best practice advice. So far we have developed a class which has a IQueryable property and the getter triggers the repository 'get all users' method. The problem so far have been two-fold: 1) It required us to decorate the ID field of the poco object to tell data service what field was the id. This now means that our POCO object is not 'pure'. 2) It cannot figure out the relationships between the objects (which is obvious i guess). I've now stopped this approach and i'm thinking that maybe we should expose the OBjectContext from the repository and use more 'automatic' functionality of EF. Has anybody got any advice or examples of using the repository pattern with WCF Data Services ?

[self.navigationController.view addSubview:ImageView]; [self.navigationController.view addSubview:toolbar]; add some point in my app I wish to add another toolbar or image above my toolbar. so let's say I'm doing something like this -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { ... ...   i'm trying to send the iOS device name along with the deviceToken to my server in didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken.. my device has an apostrophe in it and the request string shows as ....&name=John+Doe’s+iPhone ... I've tried replacing "'" with "" and "’" with "" .. but neither fix it.. i assume i need to convert the encoding? However if there is an error in the form, for example a required field has not been entered the value of the AutoComplete field is now 12,45,43,66 and not the json string which it requires. What is the best way to solve this. I was thinking about overwriting the clean method in the form class but I'm not sure how to find out if any other element has returned an error. e.g. if forms.errors form.cleaned_date['autocomplete'] = json string return form.cleaned_data Thanks

• Richfaces calendar manual input value not binding

  Hi, I've got a richfaces calendar component defined as <rich:calendar id="startDate" value="#{myBean.dateSet.startDate}" timeZone="#{myBean.dateSet.timeZone}" datePattern="#{myBean.dateSet.datePattern}" enableManualInput="true" immediate="true"> <a4j:support event="onchanged" action="#{myBean.adjustEndDate}" reRender="startDate,endDate" ajaxSingle="true" /> </rich:calendar> when I'm changing the date using the calendar popup/gui everything is working fine. However when I'm changing it via the input text field, the value is not being updated to myBean.dateSet.startDate, although it is being updated correctly on the calendar component itself (i.e. if I click the icon for calendar popup it shows the updated current date). Any suggestions on how I can get it to update the value to myBean correctly? Thanks!

  I'm creating HTML dynamically in a WebBrowser control. Most elements seems to appear correctly, with the exception of a table. If I replace div.AppendChild(table); with div.InnerHtml = table.OuterHtml then everything appears as expected.

• Ruby/Rails display general screen when modifications being performed on server

  I have a ruby on rails app running a server and sometimes it needs to be taken down for updates/etc. As of now, one way I see to have a general display screen during update periods (when the app is down) is to substitute the files within /srv/www/ directory to just have it display a general screen everywhere that the user could possibly navigate to. I also thought of having a central controller file that connects all others (essentially a main) but this seems counter intuitive for rails. There are many external links to these different components of the site that the user could navigate to from outside and I need to make sure that they always receive this general update screen when the app is taken down for a little. I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas.... maybe a library or something like that, I can't seem to find anything online. any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

• Mouse over effect with jQuery in richfaces datatable and datascroller combo

  Hi, I'm problem with defining a mouse over effect for my datatables. I have <a4j:form> <rich:dataTable id="dataTable"> ... </rich:dataTable> <rich:datascroller id="dataScroller" for="dataTable" /> </a4j:form> <rich:jQuery selector="#dataTable tr" query="mouseover(function(){jQuery(this).addClass('active-row')})"/> <rich:jQuery selector="#dataTable tr" query="mouseout(function(){jQuery(this).removeClass('active-row')})"/> which are working fine on the very first page. However if I use the datascroller to goto another page, the mouseover effect is gone. I've tried reRendering the table or the jQuery components, that didn't help with the problem at all. Any suggestion on how I can get this working? Thanks!

• Why is IE8 rendering superfish menu wrong?

  I am useing the superfish jquery plugin If you view the superfish menu here: clicky the drop-downs show correctly (above the main content) in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE6, IE7 But for some reason they fall behind the main content in IE8. I already set the z-index for the superfish menu which IE7 wasnt working right until I did so, but it didn't fix IE8. Am I missing something?

• How to HitTest in a WPF Grid Panel to find column index.

  Hi. We need to create a "timeline" feature where a user is allowed to drag and draw "time spans" into a WPF grid (we thought this better than a Canvas since it has resizing capabilities). Each span spans multiple columns, but only one row. We utilize the PreviewMouseDown/Up/Move events to see when the user clicks, drags, and releases the mouse. On the "Down" we create a new rectangle and on the "Move" we resize the rectangle, settings its ColumnSpan property to the correct value every time the mouse enteres the next column. At this point the grid has 48 1-star-sized columns. How do we find out which column the user has clicked on? Right now we are unable to find the column using the VisualTreeHelper.HitTest function. We would like to position the rectangle correctly via Grid.SetColumn(rect, X) and then resize it as needed using Grid.SetColumnSpan(rect, Y) Has anyone done something like this before and can help us? Or, is there a better way to draw what we need? Thanks.

  Hi, I'm trying to write a small application that simply reads data from a socket, extracts some information (two integers) from the data and sends the extracted information off on a serial port. The idea is that it should start and just keep going. In short, it works, but not for long. After a consistently short period I start to receive IOExceptions and socket receive buffer is swamped. The thread framework has been taken from the MSDN serial port example. The delay in send(), readThread.Join(), is an effort to delay read() in order to allow serial port interrupt processing a chance to occur, but I think I've misinterpreted the join function. I either need to sync the processes more effectively or throw some data away as it comes in off the socket, which would be fine.   I need to create a service that will be "called back" by a third party. As a result, I need to conform to their WSDL. Their WSDL has all of the operations defined with soapAction="", so my service needs to do the same. Unfortunately, I'm getting the error: The operations A and B have the same action (). Every operation must have a unique action value. In ASMX web services, there was a mode where the soapAction would not be used, but the name of the request element would be used instead. Is there some way using WCF not only to dispatch on the request element, but also to emit a WSDL with no soapAction?

  I am using a pretty complex query to retrieve some data out of one of our billing databases. I'm running in to an issue where the query seems to complete fairly quickly when executed with SQL Developer, but does not seem to ever finish when using the OracleDataAdapter.Fill() method. I'm only trying to read about 1000 rows, and the query completes in SQL Developer in about 20 seconds. What could be causing such drastic differences in performance? I have tons of other queries that run quickly using the same function.   I'd like to build an app with a tabbar in the style of Tweetie 2/Twitter for iPhone (that is, images with no labels). I can't see a way to do it with normal UITabBarController/UITabBar, and my current thinking is that it's actually a UIToolbar with a custom view controller that is pushing and popping views from an array to simulate the UITabBarController's default behavior. Is this the approach that you all would recommend, or is there something more elegant that I'm overlooking?

• How to Animate a Gradient on a Path to visualize data flow in WPF/WCF app

  I have an interesting project where several "nodes" on a cnavas are connected via a Path similiar to a mindmap tree. The path is used to visualize the connection state between two nodes. Red means the nodes are disconnected, green means they're connected. The next step would be to illustrate data flow (from A to B or B to A) using that path and an animation. Basically I would want to start the animation with the data transfer and stop it when the transfer is complete. Does anyone know how this could be done in WPF?

• Exchanging strings (PChar) between a Freepascal compiled DLL and a Delphi compiled EXE

  After a lot of experimentations, I found a way to exchange PChar from a FreePascal compiled DLL with a Delphi compiled EXE. I'm in charge of both the DLL and EXE source code but one MUST BE in FreePascal and the other one in Delphi. My solution involves the following methods in the DLL: function GetAString(): PChar; var aString: string; begin aString := 'My String'; result := StrAlloc(length(aString) + 1); StrPCopy(result, aString); end; procedure FreeString(aString: PChar); begin StrDispose(aString); end; And from the Delphi EXE, to call the GetAString method, I need to Call the GetAString method, save the PChar to an actual Delphi String and call the FreeString method. Is this the best way of exchanging a string from a FreePascal DLL with a Delphi EXE ? Can I avoid the call to FreeString from Delphi ? And finally, if that's the correct solution, how will it behave with Delphi 2010 and the WideString by default: do I need to force WidePChar in FreePascal too ?
