    I have a Story entity with the following associations: Story <1-* Chapter Story <1-* Comment Story <*-1 User What is the correct way of removing this entity and handling the all the entities that is referring to?   • Control Philips Living Colors using PC

    Hi guys, is there a way (hardware/software-combination) that I can use to control one or more "Philips Living Colors" lamps using a PC - e.g. a USB-stick that acts as the "remote". This way i could control the lamp through software (e.g. a web-app - over iPhone / remotely) or even create what Philips builds into some of their TVs and calls "ambilight" (graphics driver detecting the main color to control the lamp). I guess this is more like a hardware than a software question - but I couldn't find anything about this online and I'm sure not to be the first to have come up with this idea right when I unpacked my LivingColors lamp yesterday ;) Any idea/hint is appreciated. -chris

    Hello, I posted this yesterday on SO, and I received an answer that works great, but I need to change it around and I don't know how. Here is my original message: I need to strip the last line from a text file. I know how to open and save text files in C#, but how would I strip the last line of the text file? The text file will always be different sizes (some have 80 lines, some have 20). Can someone please show me how to do this? Here is the code that someone gave me to do this (which works fine) //Delete the last line from the file. This line could be 8174, 10000, or anything.   • Which hardware to VM ratio for Build-Server virtualization?

    Let's start with saying that I'm a total noob wrt. to server virtualization. That is, I use VMs often during development, but they're simple desktop machine things for me. Now to my problem: We have two (physical) build servers, one master, one slave running Jenkins to do daily tasks and build (Visual C++ Builds) our release packages for our software. As such these machines are critical to our company, because we do lot's releases and without a controlled environment to create them, we can't ship fixes. (And currently there's no proper backup of these machines in place, because they do not hold any data as such - it just would be a major pain to setup them again should they go bust. (But setting up backup that I'd know would work in case of HW failure would even be more pain, so we have skipped that until now.)) Therefore (and for scaling purposes) we would like to go virtual with these machines. Outsourcing to the cloud is not an option, not at all, so we'll have to use on-premises hardware and VM hosts. Each Build-Server (master or slave) is a fully configured (installs, licenses, shares in case of the master, ...) Windows Server box. I would now ideally like to just convert the (two) existing physical nodes to VM images and run them. Later add more VM slave instances as clones of the existing ones. And here begin my questions: Should I go for one VM per one hardware-box or should I go for something where a single hardware runs multiple VMs? That would mean a single point of failure hardware wise and doesn't seem like a good idea ... or?? Since we're doing C++ compilation with Visual Studio, I assume that during a build the hardware (processor cores + disk) will be fully utilized, so going with more than one build-node per hardware doesn't seem to make much sense?? Wrt. to hardware options, does it make any difference which VM software we use (VMWare, MS, Virtualbox, ... ?) (We're using Windows exclusively for our builds.) Regarding budget: We have a normal small company (20 developers) budget for this. ;-) That is, if it's going to cost a few k$ it's going to cost. If it's free - the better. I strongly prefer solutions where there's no multi-k$ maintenance costs per year.

  • Do not get 'Safely remove' option in Tray for USB storage devices.

    I had done some tweaks in service settings (Disabled some as I thought it is not needed). Now, I am not getting the option to safely remove mass storage device when I click the icon on the system tray. I tried enabling some of the services, but it didn't help. Moreover I'm not very sure if this anomaly is because of my changes in services. Any idea how to make those 'safely remove' options appear when I click the USB icon on the tray. Right now nothing is happening when I click.

When I check the routes (route -n) I see the default gw uses eth0.2 on both servers. But when I use arping, I get a response one way (from server 2 to server 1) but no response vice versa. arping 192.168.62.101 ARPING 192.168.62.101 from 10.129.76.16 eth0 ^CSent 2 probes (2 broadcast(s)) Received 0 response(s) As you can see it uses the 10.x.x.x address instead of the 192.x.x.x. And as I told before, the 10.x.x.x address is unreachable from the other server. When I force arping to use eth0.2, it does work. I don't have any problems with ping'ing other servers from any of those 2 servers. I did see this in the arp tables: ~# arp -n | grep 192.168.0.103 192.168.0.103 (incomplete) eth0 and ~# arp -n | grep 192.168.62.101 Question quite obvious... How can I make these servers see each other again? Things I've tied clear the apropriate entries in the arptable and tried to get rid of the (incomplete) But I think the biggest problem is that eth0 is used instead of eth0.2 for the packets from server 1 to server 2 Because of David Swartz' remark about the routing tables, I added a route in there defining the host. I added 192.168.0.103 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 eth0.2 and 192.168.62.101 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 eth0.2 to the appropriate servers but this didn't solve the problem so I presume the problem is not in the routing. My guess I guess the problem lies in the following. ~$ arp -n | grep 192.168.0.103 192.168.0.103 (incomplete) eth0 but I'm unable to remove this entry.   • postgres - remove whitespace from field?

    I imported a bunch of data using pgloader, and am now seeing that there's a bunch of whitespace (both spaces and tabs) inside of the fields. Is there a way to quickly update the fields to remove it from the beginning, the end, and the middle? I know there's TRIM, but that won't work for me... As an added problem... I only want to remove double spaces and replace it with a single space, but there might be 5 or 6 spaces in a row, and I'd prefer not to have to rerun a replace query until they're all ok? I was looking at regex_replace, but, I'm not sure how to make certain that it removes it from the middle of a string as well...

    It's pretty easy to sanitize HTML and strip ALL instances of a HTML tag using Rails helpers... But how do you just remove ONE tag? In this case, I'm using a WYSIWYG editor that insists on wrapping all my text in a <p> tag. I want to remove this parent tag without stripping out any other <p> tags within the content of the text. I know I could do this in JQuery really easily but I feel like this should be done server-side in my controller before I save the text. Is there a way to do this?

    How can you remove the favicon using Javascript in google chrome? The goal is to return it to the browser default, which is in this case a blank image. I found this question, but it doesn't work if you leave the link.href attribute as empty. Even if the favicon is set because there is a favicon.ico file on the server, I'd like to remove it and set it back to the default. This only needs to work in chrome. Thanks!

    Group, We built a data cube using SSAS and are now building SSRS reports off of that cube. Not sure if anyone has come across this, but when you build the report using the wizard and include parameters all looks fine. However if you are in the report after the wizard is compete, and you decide you want to remove one of the parameters you created it debunks the report and the only way to get it back is to re-create the whole report. Any way you can remove or add parameters after the initial build without destroying your report? Thanks in advance for the help! I love this forumn!
