    I have been working on this and cannot get this iterator to work.   • How significant is the bazaar performance factor?

    I hear all this stuff about bazaar being slower than git. I haven't used too much distributed version control yet, but in Bazaar vs. Git on the bazaar site, they say that most complaints about performance aren't true anymore. Have you found this to be true? Is performance pretty much on par now? I've heard that speed can affect workflow (people are more likely to do good thing X if X is fast). What specific cases does performance currently affect workflow in bazaar vs other systems (especially git), and how? I'm just trying to get at why performance is of particular importance. Usually when I check something in or update it, I expect it to take a little while, but it doesn't matter. I commit/update when I have a second, so it doesn't interfere with my productivity. But then I haven't used DVCS yet, so maybe that has something to do with it?

  • Stack Overflow-like tag selector for Rails

    I want to use tags for a model in my Rails application, and I'd like to have the same kind of tag selection mechanism that Stack Overflow has when asking a question. I.e. I type in 'rails' and it drops down a list of tags that include 'rails', and I can go on to add more tags from there. Is there a plugin that can do this? I'm comfortable putting together the tag model and migrations myself, that isn't an issue. I just need something to handle the AJAX and javascript. I'm using prototype and Rails 2.3.

    Hello, focused items == selected items but selected items != focused items. Have you ever wondered about that? Do you specially style the backcolor of a focused/selected item ? I ask this question because a user has an enabled button because some customer items are selected. The user is wondering now "why the heck can I delete this customers (button is enabled...) when I have just clicked on the orders control selecting some orders ready to delete (button is enabled too). The thing is the selected customer items are nearly looking grayed out in the default style... Well its sort of inconsistence to the user NOT to the programmer because WE know the behavior. Do you cope with stuff like that?

  • CSS Attribute Content Selector multiple declarations

    I have this in my CSS: div#headwrap ul li a[href*="dev"] {background: #034769}; div#headwrap ul li a[href*="music"] {background: #A61300}; div#headwrap ul li a[href*="opinion"] {background: #b2d81e}; div#headwrap ul li a[href*="work"] {background: #ffc340}; So, my expected behavior is that where a link (a) within a list item (li) inside a unordered list (ul) inside a div with id "headwrap" has an href that contains "dev", the link will have a background color of #034769. If the link has an href that contains "music" it will have a background color of #A61300, and so on. However, what I am seeing is that the rule is only correctly applied to "dev". If I reorder the CSS declarations (putting music first, for instance), it only gets applied to "music". I'm testing in Firefox and Chrome, both are doing the same thing. Only the first one is applied. Anyone have any ideas why?

The design looks bad, because the <strong> in there overrides the customization. The fix I've found is this: .answered-accepted, .answered-accepted * { color: white !important; background: #090 !important; } Now it looks fine on the website, but the code looks ugly!! How can I do this without repeating the class name?

  • CSS selector involving pseudo class first-child and dropcap

    Hi, I need to format HTML similar to below. Basically a quote is optional, and I need to dropcap the first letter of the body paragraph. <article> <p class="quote"> <!-- quote is optional --> Genius begins great works; labor alone finishes them.-- Joseph Joubert </p> <p> <!-- "L" is a dropcap --> Life is like a box of chocolates. </p> <p>...</p> <p>...</p> </article> My CSS looks like this: article > p:first-child:first-letter { float: left; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 360%; line-height: 0.85em; margin-right: 0.05em; } p.quote { font-weight: bold; } It doesn't work currently when the quote is introduced. AFAIK I can't select the article's first child P which is not class "quote." I'll use jQuery if I can't figure this out, but for now I'm looking for a way to do it CSS only. Thanks in advance!

How would I apply this font-weight to the labels?

  • Delphi 2009 RAD Studio - Desktop Selector not Working

    In the Delphi 2009 RAD Studio, there is a drop-down combo box where you can select the desktop configuration, i.e. "Default Layout", "Debug Layout, "Classic Undocked", etc. This has stopped working for me, i.e. when I select a desktop, nothing happens. I think I once "customized" the toolbar, by removing the drop-down combo box, and then I added it again, and ever since it has been dead. Is this a known bug? Is there a cure?

    I have the following selectors: .progress:nth-child(3n+1) { background: teal; } .progress:nth-child(3n+2) { background: red; } .progress:nth-child(3n+3) { background: blue; } However all of the items end up with a teal background. Are these selectors correct? I'm thinking I should get: Teal (every 3, starting with 1) Red (every 3, starting with 2) Blue (every 3, starting with 3) etc. I've tested on Firefox 3.5.8 and Opera 10.10 on Ubuntu. Also tested with nothing but these rules in the CSS. I'm using the YUI Reset stylesheet but excluding it does nothing.

  • How to improve Java performance on Informix for Windows

    I have problem with performance of Java UDR functions on Informix on Windows. On this server I already have some functions in C and SPL. I chose one function to write it in those 3 languages and I measured performance of this function on test table. Function calculates some kind of checksum so it does not use any db libraries etc. only string and math operations. I observed performance on 30k records with SQL like: select function(txt) from _tmp_perf_test and I changed function to 'function_c, function_spl or function_java. My performance tests showed that C function is the fastest, SPL function is about 5 times slower, where Java is 100 (one hundred!) times slower than C. I checked it few times and 1:100 ratio didn't improve. I changed Java function to simply return length of the string but even this do not help so it looks, that there is general problem with Java function invocation, because there was no difference in time between Java function that calculate checksum and Java function that returns length of the string. I increased JVM_MAX_HEAP_SIZE to 128 and it not helped too. I use IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.TC6DE. The same test on Linux server: IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.FC6 show more "normal" results, i.e. Java is slower from C and SPL but only 2 to 5 times. What can I do to improve Java performance on Informix server on Windows?     The following code stringref = "tab_2"; jQuery('.someclass a:not(.someclass #a_someclass_'+stringref+')').css('color', '#000'); gives me this warning in the FF 3.5.5 error console and I can't figure out why: Warning: Missing closing ')' in negation pseudo-class '#a_someclass_tab_2'. Is my syntax failing me or has FF gone bonkers ?
