  • Java tool to remove warnings from code developed in java 1.4

    Hi All, I am working on a soucre code which was developed using java 1.4 but now we want to migrate it to java 6. I was able to compile it but there are tons of warnings related to use of java generics wherever we have made use of collections framework. It is possible to remove them by manually make changes to them, but I wanna know if is there any tool which can run on the source code and remove all the warnings by making necessary changes ot the code.   • Developer tool for configuring IIS6

    edit: IIS6; I'm not sure IIS7 is an option in the immediate future... From a developer angle, I am constantly changing my IIS settings, or need to merge settings from other teams into different VMs. The "Save Configuration to Disk" has never really worked well for me. Because we are making lots of small changes, web installation projects have never really worked either... Tools aimed for the web-admin aren't necessarily a good fit for the developer - we have different aims and needs. Does anyone have a script / tool / utility that would allow us to quickly configure IIS? In particular: remove everything (start clean) add a load of virtual directories, each mapped to application base paths set as an application set the app-pool (we'll assume the app pool already exists) set the ASP.NET version to 2.x if needed from some find of flat input list (any format would do).

  • PL/SQL pre-compile and Code Quality checks in an automatted build environment?

    We build software using Hudson and Maven. We have C#, java and last, but not least PL/SQL sources (sprocs, packages, DDL, crud) For C# and Java we do unit tests and code analysis, but we don't really know the health of our PL/SQL sources before we actually publish them to the target database. Requirements There are a couple of things we wan't to test in the following priority: Are the sources valid, hence "compilable"? For packages, with respect to a certain database, would they compile? Code Quality: Do we have code flaws like duplicates, too complex methods or other violations to a defined set of rules? Also, the tool must run head-less (commandline, ant, ...) we wan't to do analysis on a partial code base (changed sources only) Tools We did a little research and found the following tools that could potencially help: Cast Application Intelligence Platform (AIP): Seems to be a server that grasps information about "anything". Couldn't find a console version that would export in readable format. Toad for Oracle: The Professional version is said to include something called Xpert validates a set of rules against a code base. Sonar + PL/SQL-Plugin: Uses Toad for Oracle to display code-health the sonar-way. This is for browsing the current state of the code base. Semantic Designs DMSToolkit: Quite general analysis of source code base. Commandline available? Semantic Designs Clones Detector: Detects clones. But also via command line? Fortify Source Code Analyzer: Seems to be focussed on security issues. But maybe it is extensible? more... So far, Toad for Oracle together with Sonar seems to be an elegant solution. But may be we are missing something here? Any ideas? Other products? Experiences?   • Tool to convert inline C# into a code behind file

    Hi I have a number of legacy web controls (ascx) that contains huge amounts of inline C#. The forms contain a number of repeated and duplicate code. Our first plan is to move the code into code behinds per file, then refactor etc... were doing this to upgrade the client to the latest version of their cms At the moment we are going to have to manually copy and paste from hundreds of files, create a code behind, copy the code, add the namespaces based on the client-side imports and then do any tidying up does anybody PLEASE know of a tool that can do the majority of this work for us ?     Hi community, I'm performing a data migration and the database I'm using only allows to export and import each table separately. In such a setup importing becomes a problem since the order in which tables are imported is important (you have to import referenced tables before referencing ones). Is there any external tool that allows me to list the database tables sorted from least dependent to most dependent? Thanks in advance.

    What's the best disassembler tool for the .NET reflector? By best I mean, saving a .NET assembly in a disassembled state in most readable, most likely to compile with fewer changes. The current one I use doesn't show simplified enumeration but shows the full IEnumerable implementations with MoveNext, etc with member names like: this.<4_state CS$<9_CachedAnonymousMethodDelegate3 Btw I am not trying to steal code, just trying out certain things on an already existing assembly instead of writing a similar thing from scratch. In the end, it's what I will learn from this that will stay, not the modified assembly.

  • What javascript min tool does jquery use?

    I have a great deal of javascript that needs to be min'd before being served to the end user. Currently, I'm using JSMIN, but I'd like to switch to something a bit more powerful (such as something with local variable replacement). I'm currently looking at YUI min developed by yahoo, and it got me thinking about the min tool that jquery uses. Does anyone know what it is and if it's publicly available? Also, any recommendations on other min tools that might be better suited than YUI min? If possible, I'd like a java solution so I can just plug the library into what I've already created for the JSMIN solution. Thanks

    I'm trying to create a tool which will help my team perform code reviews on a more regular basis without it's usual massive overhead. At the moment the manual process involves using Team Foundation Sidekicks to identify the Changesets and then exporting that to excel to filter the results to find which items need to be reviewed (e.g. code files). I've heard mention of using a TFS API, but found very little help online possibly because I was asking google 'the wrong questions'.

  • Graphical database monitoring tool for debugging

    I would love a tool that in real-time showed changes in a set of predefined tables in a graphical way, for example different colors on fields that has changed value, added records, deleted records etc. I don't want a list of all transactions (like SQL Server Profiler), instead a clever visualized more graphical approach where you can get a great overview if you are just monitoring a few tables. I realize the visualization would be hard if there is a lot of transactions against the database, but with monitoring on a few tables and a single session during debugging it would be possible. Does something like this exist? I think it would be great for debugging! Preferably for SQL Server and/or MySQL.

  • .NET Assembly Diff / Compare Tool - What's available?

    I'd like to be able to do a code-level diff between two assemblies; the Diff plug-in for Reflector is the closest thing I've found so far, but to compare the entire assembly is a manual process requiring me to drill-down into every namespace/class/method. The other tools I've found so far appear to be limited to API-level (namespaces, classes, methods) differences--which won't cut it for what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of such a tool? My requirements (from highest to lowest) are: Be able to analyze / reflect the code content of two versions of the same assembly and report the differences Accept a folder or group of assemblies as input; quickly compare them (similar to WinMerge's folder diff's) Quick ability to determine if two assemblies are equivalent at the code level (not just the API's) Allow easy drill-down to view the differences Exporting of reports regarding the differences (Personally I like WinMerge for text diffs, so an application with a similar interface would be great)

I am running the version of the exe that I found inside of C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006 There is also C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation that has (what I assume is) the same exe in it, and I can use it just fine. I've tried to un-install the 3.0 version before installing the 4.0 version, but I am still getting the same warning and failure. Has anyone successfully done this with .net 4.0?

Shouldn't it need to parse HTML source FIRST Before it parses CSS file (I assume which triggers the 'Recalculate Style') and Java Script file (I assume which triggers the 'Function Call')

    Is there an online tool for adding parentheses to simple math equations? For example, a + b * c into a + (b * c) Those who paid more attention in math class might be able to tackle order of operations for huge equations in their head, but I could often use some help (and verification of my thinking). I often encounter other people's libraries having equations and functions I need for my code, and this would be kind of helpful for debugging and understanding. I was hoping Wolfram Alpha would do this, but the output is not easy to plug back into most programming languages e.g. a + (bc)

  • Source code annotation tool

    I'm looking for a tool with which I can annotate source code. I have some 3rd party source code (JavaScript) I need to understand and I don't want to change it (add inline comments) so that line numbers can stay intact (for communication with others), I can avoid accidentally changing something and my annotations stand out compared to the authors comments. Normally I would print the whole thing out an scribble on it, but the code is too long for that and I need to share it per email. I would be great if one could do some like that including being able to create "links" between so places in the code, possibly even visually with a lines or arrows.

    I am working with a team that edits large DAGs represented as single files. Currently we are unable to work with multiple users concurrently modifying the DAG. Is there a tool (somewhat like the Eclipse SVN plugin) that can do do revision control on the file (manage timestamps/revision stamps) to identify incoming/outgoing/conflicting changes (Node/Link insertion/deletion/modification) and merge changes just like programmers do with source code files? The system should be able to do dependency management also. E.g. an incoming Link must not be accepted when one of the two Nodes is absent. That is, it should not "break" the existing DAG by allowing partial updates. If there is a framework to do this using generic "Node" and "Link" interfaces? Note: I am aware of Protege and its plugins. They currently do not satisfy my requirements.

    Hello, it's the first time I developp such tool you all know (the possibility to compare articles according to price and/or options) Since I never did that i want to tell me what do you think of the way i see that : On the database we would have : offer / price / option 1 / option 2 / option 3 / IDseller / IDoffer best buy / 15$ / full FTP / web hosting / php.ini / 10 / 1 .../..../.... And the request made by the client : "SELECT * FROM offers WHERE price <= 20 AND option1 = fullFTP"; I don't know if it seems OK to you. Plus i was wondering, how to avoid multiples entries for the same seller. Imagine you have multiple offers with a price <= 20 with the option FullFTP for the same seller, i don't want him to be shown 5 times on the comparator. If you have any advices ;) Thanks

    What's the best way to add foreign keys to my existing tables in Rails with an underlying MySQL database? clearly the solution should be done in a migration, as I want this versioned. Otherwise I'd create the constraints myself. I can't seem to find one, conducive response to they above. Again, the tables have already been created with previous migrations. I'm just going back now and adding referential integrity wherever it's applicable.

    I have a column with the type of Varchar in my Postgres database which I meant to be integers... and now I want to change them, unfortunately this doesn't seem to work using my rails migration. change_column :table1, :columnB, :integer So I tried doing this: execute 'ALTER TABLE "table1" ALTER COLUMN "columnB" TYPE integer USING CAST(columnB AS INTEGER)' but cast doesn't work in this instance because some of the column are null... any ideas?

    Does anyone have a handy powershell script that gets a set of files from TFS based on a modification date? I'd like to say "give me all the files in this folder (or subfolder) that were modified after X/Y/ZZZZ" and dump those files to a folder other than the folder they would normally go to. I know enough powershell to hack about and get this done, eventually, but I'm hoping to avoid that.

    I have a MySQL database running on a deployment machine which also contains data. Then I have another MySQL database which has evolved in terms of STRUCTURE + DATA for some time. I need a way to merge the changes (ONLY) for both structure and data to the DB in deployment machine without disturbing the existing data. Does anyone know of a tool available which can do this safely. I have had a look at a few comparison tools but I need a tool which can automate the merge operation. Note also that most of the data in the tables is in BINARY so I can't use many file comparison tools. Does any one know of a solution to this? thanks

  • Diff tool that can compare sub-sections of files

    I'm looking for a diff tool that will allow me to compare just a sub-section of a file with a section of another file, or even of itself. Preferably eclipse based but will take all suggestions. Yes I know I can copy out the two sections into different files and compare those, but that is very tedious when you are trying to do a large amount of refactoring. Basically I'm trying to remove as much duplicated code as possible from a code base that is suffering from a great deal of ctrl-V 'inheritance' ;-) However the pasted parts have evolved apart a little over time.
