Why are SMART error rates going down?

I have a hard drive that's part of a Linux software raid5 array. SMART has reported that its multi_zone_error_rate was 0, then 1, then 3. So I figured I better start backing up more frequently and prepare to replace the drive. Now, today, the multi_zone_error_rate of that very same drive is back down to 1. It seems that 2 errors unhappened while I wasn't looking. I've also seen simliar behaviour by inspecting the syslog on the server. None of these are the drive that had the multi_zone weirdness. I haven't seen any problems from the RAID; its most recent scrub ( < 24 hours ago) came back totally clean. The only thing I can think of is that the SMART reporting circuitry on the drive isn't working properly all the time. The cables are in tight on the drive and board. What's going on here?

With .net 3.5, there is a SyndicationFeed that will load in a RSS feed and allow you to run LINQ on it. OData / WCF Data Service - HTTP 500 Error

I have created an OData/WCF service using Visual Studio 2010 on Windows XP SP3 with all current patches installed. When I click on "view in browser", the service opens and I see the 3 tables from my EF model. However, when I add a table name ("Commands" in this case) to the end of the query string, rather than seeing the data from the table, I get an HTTP 500 error. (This error (HTTP 500 Internal Server Error) means that the website you are visiting had a server problem which prevented the webpage from displaying.). I have not only followed the examples from 2 sites, but have also tried running the sample application that the blog poster sent me (that works on his machine), and still am not having any luck. The blog post is at Exposing OData from an Entity Framework Model Does anyone have an idea why this is occurring and how to resolve it? C# Inheritence: Choosing what repository based on type of inherited class

I have been making a program that downloads information about movies from the internet. I have a base class Title, which represents all titles. Movie, Serie and Episode are inherited from that class. To save them to the database I have 2 services, MovieService and SerieService. They in turn call repositories, but that is not important here. I have a method Save(Title title) which I am not very happy with. I check for what type the title is and then call the correct service. I would like to perhaps write like this: ITitleService service = title.GetService(); title.GetSavedBy(service); So I have an abstract method on Title that returns an ITitleSaver, which will return the correct service for the instance. My question is how should I implement ITitleSaver? If I make it accept Title I will have to cast it to the correct type before calling the correct overload. Which will lead to having to deal with casting once again. What is the best approach to dealing with this? I would like to have the saving logic in the corresponding class.

HTML/CSS issue with a:hover and spans

Any way I can get this working? I have a block of code: <p><a href="http://foo.com"><span class="title">Title</span><br /><br /> Some text no greater than a couple of lines...</a></p> My styles are: p {color:#FFF;} a {color:#999;} .title {color:#FFF; font-weight:bold;} a:hover {color:#FF0;} My problem is as follows: I want the title to be white and bold and the body to be gray, but when you hover over any part, I want the title AND text to become yellow. However, in the above scenario, only the text becomes yellow because the span color (white) overrides the a:hover. If I add: .title:hover {color:#FF0;} then the title color only changes if I specifically hover over the title. It also doesn't change the text to yellow, as it is now a span hover... Any way I can resolve this, even if it requires a little JS? Thanks!

How to customize RESTful Routes in Rails (basics)

I have read through the Rails docs for Routing, Restful Resources, and the UrlHelper, and still don't understand best practices for creating complex/nested routes. The example I'm working on now is for events, which has_many rsvps. So a user's looking through a list of events, and clicks register, and goes through a registration process, etc. I want the urls to look like this: /events /events/123 # possible without title, like SO /events/123/my-event-title # canonical version /events/my-category/123/my-event-title # also possible like this /events/123/my-event-title/registration/new ... and all the restful nested resouces. Question is, how do I accomplish this with the minimal amount of code? Here's what I currently have: map.resources :events do |event| event.resources :rsvps, :as => "registration" end That gets me this: /events/123/registration What's the best way to accomplish the other 2 routes? /events/123/my-event-title # canonical version /events/my-category/123/my-event-title # also possible like this Where my-category is just an array of 10 possible types the event can be. I've modified Event#to_param to return "#{self.id.to_s}-#{self.title.parameterize}", but I'd prefer to have /id/title with the whole canonical-ness

Add delay and focus for a dead simple accordion jquery

I found the code somewhere in the world, and due to its dead simple nature, I found some things in need to fix, like when hovering the trigger, the content is jumping up down before it settled. I have tried to change the trigger from the title of the accordion block to the whole accordion block to no use. I need help to add a delay and only do the accordion when the cursor is focus in the block. I have corrected my css to make sure the block is covering the hidden part as well when toggled. Using Scala and StringTemplate, how do I loop through a Map

I have my environment setup nicely using Scala, StringTempalte within the Google AppEngine. I am having trouble looping through a Map and getting it to display in the template. When I assign a simple List of just Strings to the template it works using: In Scala Servlet: var photos = List[String]() //... get photo url and title ... photos = photo_url :: photos template.setAttribute("photos", photos: _*) In Template: $photos: { photo| <div><img src="$photo$_s.jpg"></div> }$ The above works. However, any attempt of creating a Map using url and title and assigning to the template gives me an error. png image blurry when loaded onto texture

I have created a png image in photoshop with transparencies that I have loaded into and OpenGL program. I have binded it to a texture and in the program the picture looks blurry and I'm not sure why. I want to know how to correctly add an Event Listener like onClick to a dynamic div. Am I misunderstanding this? (I used this method zillions of times in AS3 with the expected result, just attached a function waiting for a click). What I want is that my Divs wait for the user to click on them, not to fire off immediately after of being attached. Thanks for any hint on this one. Greetings. Ps. IE doesn't support addEventListener, but I want to resolve this before cross to the IE sea of madness, but I will appreciate the IE approach as well. - I tried "onclick" and just 'click' into the addEventListener line, both with the same result described above.

Idiomatic PHP web page creation

My PHP experience is rather limited. I've just inherited some stuff that looks odd to me, and I'd like to know if this is a standard way to do things. The page which shows up in the browser location (e.g. www.example.com/example_page) has something like: <? $title = "Page Title"; $meta = "Some metadata"; require("pageheader.inc"); ?>  Then pageheader.inc has stuff like: <? @$title = ($title) ? $title : ""; @$meta = ($meta) ? $meta : ""; ?> <html> <head> <title><?=$title?></title </head>  Maybe others find this style useful, but it confuses me. I suppose this could be a step toward a rudimentary content management system, but the way it works here I'd think it adds to the processing the server has to do without reducing the load on the web developer enough to make it worth the effort. So, is this a normal way to create pages with PHP? Or should I pull all this in favor of a better approach? Also, I know that "<?" (vs. "<?php" ) is undesirable; I'm just reproducing what is in the code.

I am supposed to: Capitalize the first letter of string. Capitalize every word except articles (the, a, an), conjunctions (and), and prepositions (in). Capitalize i (as in "I am male."). Specify the first word of a string (I actually have no idea what this means. I'm trying to run the spec file to test other functions). I have two classes Software, Tag - they are related by ManyToMany. We CAN NOT create Software without putting the Tag to it. I want to write a test which check that: @Test public void createSoftwareWithNullTags() { List<Tag> tags = null; Software software = new Software("software1", "description1", tags); try { software.save(); fail("tags should not be null"); } catch (Exception ex) { // NEVER COME HERE !!! } } So, this test fails. I guess it is not good test for that case - because it even do not try to SAVE data to SOFTWARE_TAG table. Of course i could do validation manually but i want implement it with hibernate, using some annotation or something. Is it possible? Or how would you do this? Unable to Get values from Web Form to a PHP Class to Display

I am having troubles getting the value from my variables submitted via a web form using a PHP class file. Here is my structure of the web page: Order Form Page Process.php Page Book.php Page I can easily get the user data entered (on Order Form Page), process, and display it on the Process.php page. The issue is that I must create a Book class and print the details of the data using the Book class. I have an empty constructor printing out "created" so I know my constructor is being called. I also am able to print the word "title" so I know I can print to the screen by using the Book class. My issue is that I can't get values in my variables in the Book class. Here is my variable declaration: private $title; Here is my printDetails function: public function printDetails () { echo "Title: " . $this->title . "<br />"; } Here is my new instance of the book class: $bookNow = new book; Here are my get and set functions: function __getTitle($title) { return $this->$title; } function __setTitle($title,$value) { $this->$title = $value; } I do have four other variables that I'm looking to display as well. Each of those have their own variable declaration, a line in printDetails, and their own setter and getter. Lastly, I also have a call to the Book class in my process PHP. It looks like this: function __autoload($book) { include $book . '.php'; } $bookNow = new book(); Any help, much appreciated. It must be something so very small (I'm hoping).

Grouping XSLT nodes via transformation dynamically

I'm trying to create a page like this via XSLT transformation. Pages page1 page2 Links link1 link2 Here is the xml <siteMenu> <Pages> <title>page1</title> </Pages> <Pages> <title>page2</title> </Pages> <Links> <title>link1</title> </Links> <Links> <title>link2</title> </Links> </siteMenu> I tried using <xsl:for-each select="*"> and <xsl:for-each-group select="*" group-by="@v"> but that gives me every element, but how can i separate them out based on the parent node? I also want to make it dynamic so that if I add another item in siteMenu, it would update the xslt appropriately.

Multi-model form problem

(I'm just learning rails so....) I have a photo model and a gallery model, habtm associations and a join table. I'm making a photo gallery. The gallery page has a title field and description field. User creates gallery title, then goes to the photo page and checkboxes each image they want in that gallery. PHP looping problem?

I'm trying to display the first row in one color and the second row in another color but my code displays the result twice in both colors for example lets say I have 5 results my code will double the results by displaying 10 results. How can I fix this problem?
