  • jQuery: Sort div's according to content of different sub divs

    I'm trying to create a somewhat complex sorting feature which neither uses divs nor lists. Unfortunately two hours of googling didn't help me. So the user will be able to view the contents of the site either sorted by name, by year, by country or by title. I have this jQuery snippet from a website, but all my attempts on trying to tell it to use the contents of e.g. h3 to sort have failed.   • Escaping ampersands in URLs for HttpClient requests

    So I've got some Java code that uses Jakarta HttpClient like this: URI aURI = new URI( "http://host/index.php?title=" + title + "&action=edit" ); GetMethod aRequest = new GetMethod( aURI.getEscapedPathQuery()); The problem is that if title includes any ampersands (&), they're considered parameter delimiters and the request goes screwy... and if I replace them with the URL-escaped equivalent %26, then this gets double-escaped by getEscapedPathQuery() into %2526. I'm currently working around this by basically repairing the damage afterward: URI aURI = new URI( "http://host/index.php?title=" + title.replace("&", "%26") + "&action=edit" ); GetMethod aRequest = new GetMethod( aURI.getEscapedPathQuery().replace("%2526", "%26")); But there has to be a nicer way to do this, right? Note that the title can contain any number of unpredictable UTF-8 chars etc, so escaping everything else is a requirement.

  • Write to static field - is FindBugs wrong in this case?

    I have a Java class like this: public class Foo { public static int counter = 0; public void bar(int counter) { Foo.counter = counter; } } FindBugs warns me about writing to the static field counter via the instance method bar. However, if I change the code to: public class Foo { public static int counter = 0; public static void setCounter(int counter) { Foo.counter = counter; } public void bar(int counter) { setCounter(counter); } } Then FindBugs won't complain. Isn't that wrong? I'm still writing to a static field from an instance method, just via a static method - no?

  • What is the full "for" loop syntax in C (and others in case they are compatible) ?

    I have seen some very weird for loops when reading other people's code. I have been trying to search for a full syntax explanation for the for loop in C but it is very hard because the word "for" appears in unrelated sentences making the search almost impossible to Google effectively. This question came to my mind after reading this thread which made me curious again. The for here: for(p=0;p+=(a&1)*b,a!=1;a>>=1,b<<=1); In the middle condition there is a comma separating the two pieces of code, what does this comma do? The comma on the right side I understand as it makes both a>>=1 and b<<=1. But within a loop exit condition, what happens? Does it exit when p==0, when a==1 or when both happen? It would be great if anyone could help me understand this and maybe point me in the direction of a full for loop syntax description.

  • Why does the textField not show up when I change the defaultTextFormat

    I have an if/else statement which checks the length of my current title, and then is suppose to change the defaultTextFormat of the title textField and set the text. Let's say I have an employee table: ID | Name | Title | Salary ---------------------------- 1 | Bob | Manager | 15285 2 | Joe | Worker | 10250 3 | Al | Worker | 11050 4 | Paul | Manager | 16025 5 | John | Worker | 10450 What I'd like to do is write a query that will give me the above table, along with an averaged salary column, based on the employee title: ID | Name | Title | Salary | Pos Avg -------------------------------------- 1 | Bob | Manager | 15285 | 15655 2 | Joe | Worker | 10250 | 10583 3 | Al | Worker | 11050 | 10583 4 | Paul | Manager | 16025 | 15655 5 | John | Worker | 10450 | 10583 I've tried doing this with a sub-query along the lines of: Select *, (select Avg(e2.salary) from employee e2 where e2.title = e.title) from employee e But I've come to realize that the sub-query is executed first, and has no knowledge of the table alias'd e I'm sure I'm missing something REALLY obvious here, can anyone point me in the right diretion?

I have an ajax-based search that should just trigger the search when actual characters are pressed like a-Z (upper and lowercase), numbers and maybe a questionmark, a dash(hyphen), and an exclamation mark. Also the spacebar should be enabled. Otherwise the ajax search would be triggered as well if the shift-, option, or control-key, is pressed. What's the easiest regex pattern to understand here? thank you for your help

Here is the structure: ( { id = { text = ""; }; sub = { text = " , "; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = ""; }; title = { text = "2010-2011"; }; type = { text = "title"; }; }, { id = { text = "76773"; }; sub = { text = "December 13, 2010"; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = "http://www.puc.edu/__data/assets/image/0004/76774/varieties/thumb.jpg"; }; title = { text = "College Days - Fall 2010"; }; type = { text = "gallery"; }; }, { id = { text = ""; }; sub = { text = ""; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = ""; }; title = { text = "2009-2010"; }; type = { text = "title"; }; }, { id = { text = "76302"; }; sub = { text = "December 3, 2010"; }; text = ""; "thumb_url" = { text = "http://www.puc.edu/__data/assets/image/0019/76303/varieties/thumb.jpg"; }; title = { text = "Christmas Colloquy"; }; type = { text = "gallery"; }; } ) Each section has a type key, which I need to check. When it finds the "title" key, I need to add those to an array. Then the next sections that would use the "gallery" key needs to be in its own array until it finds another "title" key. Then the "gallery" keys after that into their own array. I am using this a UITableView section titles and content. So, the NSDictionary above should have one NSArray *titles; array, and two other arrays each containing the galleries that came after the title. I have tried using a for loop but I just can't seem to get it right. And ideas would be appreciated.

    I am trying to get client validation working in MVC3 using data annotations. I have looked at similar posts including this MVC3 Client side validation not working for the answer. I'm using an EF data model. I created a partial class like this for my validations.   • Why doesn't Default route work using Html.ActionLink in this case?

    I have a rather perculiar issue with routing. Coming back to routing after not having to worry about configuration for it for a year, I am using the default route and ignore route for resources: routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }); I have a RulesController with an action for Index and Lorem and a Index.aspx, Lorem.aspx in Views Rules directory. I have an ActionLink aimed at Rules/Index on the maseter page: <li><div><%: Html.ActionLink("linkText", "Index", "Rules")%></div></li> The link is being rendered as http://localhost:12345/Rules/ and am getting a 404. When I type Index into the URL the application routes it to the action. When I change the default route action from "Index" to "Lorem", the action link is being rendered as http://localhost:12345/Rules/Index adding the Index as it's no longer on the default route and the application routes to the Index action correctly. I have used Phil Haack's Routing Debugger, but entering the url http://localhost:12345/Rules/ is causing a 404 using that too. I think I've covered all of the rookie mistakes, relevant SO questions and basic RTFMs. I'm assuming that "Rules" isn't any sort of reserved word in routing. Other than updating the Routes and debuugging them, what can I look at?

  • How to improve performance of map that loads new overlay images

    I have inherited a website to maintain that uses a html map overlaying a real map to link specific countries to specific pages. previously it loaded the default map image, then with some javascript it would change the image src to an image with that particular country in a different colour on mouseover and reset the image source back to the original image on mouse out to make maintenance (adding new countries) easier i made the initial map a background image by utilising some CSS for the div tag, and then created new images for each country which only had that countries hightlight so that the images remain fairly small. this works great but theres one issue which is particularly noticeable on slower internet connections when you hover over a country if you dont have the image file in your browser cache or downloaded it wont load the image unless you hover over another country and then back onto the first country - i guess this is due to the image having to manually be downloaded on first hover. My question: is it possible to force the load of these extra images AFTER the page and all the other assets have finished loading so that this behaviour is all but eliminated? the html code for the MAP is as follows: <div class="gtmap"><img id="Image-Maps_6200909211657061" src="<?php echo cdnhttpsCheck();   • Scala newbie vproducer/consumer attempt running out of memory

    I am trying to create a producer/consumer type Scala app. The LoopControl just sends a message to the MessageReceiver continually. The MessageReceiver then delegates work to the MessageCreatorActor (whose work is to check a map for an object, and if not found create one and start it up). Each MessageActor created by this MessageCreatorActor is associated with an Id. Eventually this is where I want to do business logic. But I run out of memory after 15 minutes. Its finding the cached actors,but quickly runs out of memory. Any help is appreciated.     Here is some example data: data = data.frame(series = c("1a", "1b", "1e"), reading = c(0.1, 0.4, 0.6)) > data series reading 1 1a 0.1 2 1b 0.4 3 1e 0.6 Which I can pull out selective single rows using subset: > subset (data, series == "1a") series reading 1 1a 0.1 And pull out multiple rows using a logical OR > subset (data, series == "1a" | series == "1e") series reading 1 1a 0.1 3 1e 0.6 But if I have a long list of series expressions, this gets really annoying to input, so I'd prefer to define them in a better way, something like this: series_you_want = c("1a", "1e") (although even this sucks a little) and be able to do something like this, subset (data, series == series_you_want) The above obviously fails, I'm just not sure what the best way to do this is?

    So first of all I have such image (and ofcourse I have all points coordinates in 2d so I can regenerate lines and check where they cross each other) But hey, I have another Image of same lines (I know thay are same) and new coords of my points like on this image So... now Having points (coords) on first image, How can I determin plane rotation and Z depth on second image (asuming first one's center was in point (0,0,0) with no rotation)?

  • How to create a platform ontop of CSLA? <-- if in case it make sense

    Hi all! here is the senario, i'm developing an application using csla 3.8 / c#.net, the application will have different modules. its like an ERP, it will have accounting, daily time record, recruitment etc as modules. Now the requirement is to check for common entities per module and build a "platform" (<- the boss calls it that way) from it. for example, DTR will have an entity "employee", Recruitment will have "Applicant" so one common entity that you can derive from both that can be put in the platform is "Person". "Person" will contain typical info like name, address, contact info etc. I know it sounds like OOP 101. the thing is, i dont know how i am to go about it. how i wish it was just a simple inheritance but the requirement is like to create an API of some sort to be used by the modules using CSLA. in csla you create smart objects right, inheriting from the base classes of csla like businessListbase, readonlylistbase etc. right? what if for example i created a businessbase Applicant class, it will have properties like salary demand, availability date etc. now for the personal info i will need the "Person" from the "platform" and implement it to the applicant class. so in summary i have several questions: how to create such platform? if such platform is possible, how will it be implemented on each module's entities? (im already inheriting from base clases of csla) if incase 1 and 2 are possible, does it have advantages on development and maintenace of the app? the reason why i'm asking #3 is because the way i see it, even if i am able to create a platform for that, i will be needing to define properties of the platform entity on my module entities so to have validation and all. im sorry if i'm typing nonesense i'm really confused. hope someone could enlighten me. thank you all!
