  I am using a struct to pass to an unmanaged DLL as so - [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] public struct valTable { public byte type; public byte map; public byte spare1; public byte spare2; public int par; public int min; public byte[] name; public valTable() { name = new byte[24]; } } The code above will not compile because VS 2005 will complain that "Structs cannot contain explicit parameterless constructors". In order to pass this struct to my DLL, I have to pass an array of struct's like so valTable[] val = new valTable[281]; What I would like to do is when I say new, the constructor is called and it creates an array of bytes like I am trying to demonstrate because the DLL is looking for that byte array of size 24 in each dimension. How can I accomplish this?

  I've got an input field in a form that needs a date value. I'm using jQuery UI's datepicker for the calendar and I've set a range for it. However, the user can override that by typing a different date in the input field. How can I specify a date range for the field with jQuery validation? All I see with jQuery is that you can only specify that the field be a date type. Can I create min and max values that work with dates?

  Hi, I'm wondering, is it possible to collect the height of a specific div container from a separate page with JavaScript? I'm using jQuery btw and I'm in need of comparing heights of div containers. Edit: To clarify a bit more, I load content from a specific div in a separate page using jQuery. This content is faded into a different container with dynamic height. But in the small fraction of time before the content arrives, it shrinks down to it's min-height. What I've done so far is collecting the height of the container before and after the load. But it only works after I've loaded content once. Because I don't have the height before it's been loaded the first time.

Goal : An array D[1..n] such that D[i] = min{ distance(i,j) : A[j] > A[i] } or some default value (like 0) when there is no higher-valued element. I would really like to use Euclidean distance here. Example : A = [-1.35, 3.03, 0.73, -0.06, 0.71, -0.21, -0.12, 1.49, 1.41, 1.42] D = [1, 0, 1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 6, 1, 2] Is there any way to beat the obvious O(n^2) solution? The only progress I've made so far is that D[i] = 1 whenever A[i] is not a local maxima. I've been thinking a lot and have come up with NOTHING. I hope to eventually extend this to 2D (so A and D are matrices).

  Hi all I'm stuck. Tried all the angles but i cant seem to get it working. I have 2 inline calendars. When i select a date from the dtFrm calendar it sets the date on the dtTo calendar as expected. I just cant seem to set the EndDate of the dtTo calendar. Anyone manage to solve this one? Thanks!   I need to parse the contents of a string that represents a time period. The format of the string is value/unit, e.g.: 1s, 60min, 24h. I would separate the actual value (an int) and unit (a str) to separated variables.   I was going through mit's opencourseware related to performance engineering. The quickest method (requiring least number of clock cycles) for finding the minimum of two numbers(say x and y) is stated as: min= y^((x^y) & -(x<y)) The output of the expression x < y can be 0 or 1 (assuming C is being used) which then changes to -0 or -1. I understand that xor can be used to swap two numbers. Questions: 1. How is -0 different from 0 and -1 in terms of binary? 2. How is that result used with the and operator to get the minimum? • Expand <div> tag to bottom of page with CSS

  Hi all, I know this question gets asked a lot because I have looked at many "solutions" trying to get this to work for me. I can get it to work if I hack up the html but I want to use all CSS. All I want is a header with two columns below it, and I want these three items to fill the entire page/screen, and I want to do it with CSS and without frames or tables. The XAMPP user interface looks exactly how I want my page to look, but again, I do not want to use frames. I cannot get the two orangeish colored columns to extend to the bottom of the screen. I do have it so it looks like the right column extends to the bottom of the screen just by changing the body background color to the same color as the background color of the right column, but I would like both columns to extend to the bottom so I didn't have to do that. • Creating a textarea with auto-resize

  There was another thread about this, which I've tried. But there is one problem: the textarea doesn't shrink if you delete the content. I can't find any way to shrink it to the correct size - the clientHeight value comes back as the full size of the textarea, not its contents. The code from that page is below. I have a table x that's like the one bellow: id | name | observed_value | 1 | a | 100 | 2 | b | 200 | 3 | b | 300 | 4 | a | 150 | 5 | c | 300 | I want to make a query so that in the result set I have exactly one record for one name: (1, a, 100) (2, b, 200) (5, c, 300) If there are multiple records corresponding to a name, say 'a' in the table above, I just pick up one of them. In my current implementation, I make a query like this: select x.* from x , (select distinct name, min(observed_value) as minimum_val from x group by name) x1 where x.name = x1.name and x.observed_value = x1.observed_value; But I think there may be some better way around, please tell me if you know, thanks in advance.

  I just finished the "15 min Blog Post tutorial" included in the documentation for cakephp. I was asked for another tutorial to change the layout for first tutorial. However, I am fairly new to MVC programming/Cakephp and I have no real clue how to do so. Well, I know I need "default.ctp" placed in app/views/layouts/ and I presume I need to include to include my data? . . . I am really at a loss of what to do. I set up my default.ctp as I mentioned above, but when I go to localhost:9999/posts the layout is still the same. I guess I need to include a stylesheet (and if so, where?) I guess if someone can point me in the right direction to a beginner's guide to layout styling or how to use it I would greatly appreciate any help.

• Proper chart scaling in Reporting Services 2005

  I'm developing a simple bar-chart in Reporting Services 2005 with a stored procedure as data-source. The values in this graph can be both positive and negative, and can span a very big range, and hence I cannot specify any non-dynamic scale that will work for all scenarios. The problem I'm facing is that the automatic scaling pretty much sucks. I get no line to show where the zero-point is, and the y-scale labels are from top to bottom: 8818 -191181 -391181 etc etc... So my question is, what is the best approach to make the scale more adapted to human reading? Is there any guide out there? Does reporting services 2008 handle this better? Also, moving away from Reporting Services is not really an option. I realize how to put values and expression in the max, min, and the gridline interval fields, although its more of a question what expressions I should put there.
