  Hi community, I need some help with TimesTen DB query optimization. I made some measures with Java profiler and found the code section that takes most of the time (this code section executes the SQL query). What is strange that this query becomes expensive only for some specific input data. Here’s the example. We have two tables that we are querying, one represents the objects we want to fetch (T_PROFILEGROUP), another represents the many-to-many link from some other table (T_PROFILECONTEXT_PROFILEGROUPS). We are not querying linked table. We have DB indices for all columns used here: T_PROFILEGROUP.M_ID, T_PROFILECONTEXT_PROFILEGROUPS.M_ID_OID and T_PROFILECONTEXT_PROFILEGROUPS.M_ID_EID. My questions are: Why querying the same set of tables yields such a different performance for different parameters? Which indices are involved here? Is there any way to improve this simple query and/or the DB to make it faster? UPDATE: to give the feeling of size: Command> select count(*) from T_PROFILEGROUP; < 183840 > 1 row found. • How to hide jQuery Sub-Menus(ddsmoothmenu)?

  I'm new to jQuery and i must admit that i've understood nothing yet, the syntax appears to me as an unknown language although i thought that i had my experiences with javascript. Nevertheless i managed it to implement this menu in my asp.net masterpage's header. Even got it to work that the content-page is loaded with ajax with help from here. But finally i'm failing with the menu to disappear when the new page was loaded asynchronously. I dont know how to hide this accursed jQuery Menu. Following the part of the js-file where the events are registered for hiding/disappearing. I'm using Coda Slider 2.0, and have designed it to where the tabs are another slider to the right of the main slider, and each item.   There may be times when you need to modify the value of the fields “System.CreatedDate” and “System.ChangedDate” on a work item. Richard Hundhausen has a great blog with ample of reason why or why not you should need to set the values of these fields to historic dates. Image 1 – Create work item with Changed Date pre-set to historic date Image 2 – Set the CreatedDate to historic date (Same as the ChangedDate) Image 3 – Simulate of effort burn down on a task via the TFS API   Image 4 – The history of changes on the Task. So, essentially this task has burned 1 hour per day Sprint Burn Down Chart – What’s not possible? The Sprint burn down chart is calculated from the System.AuthorizedDate and not the System.ChangedDate/System.CreatedDate. So, though you can change the System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates you will not be able to synthesize the sprint burn down chart. Image 1 – By changing the Created Date and Changed Date to ‘18/Oct/2012’ you would have expected the burn down to have been impacted, but it won’t be, because the sprint burn down chart uses the value of field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’ to calculate the unfinished work points. The AsOf queries that are used to calculate the unfinished work points use the value of the field ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Image 2 – Using the above code I burned down 1 hour effort per day over 5 days from the task work item, I would have expected the sprint burn down to show a constant burn down, instead the burn down shows the effort exhausted on the 24th itself. Simply because the burn down is calculated using the ‘System.AuthorizedDate’. Now you would ask… “Can I change the value of the field System.AuthorizedDate to a historic date” Unfortunately that’s not possible! You will run into the exception ValidationException –  “TF26194: The value for field ‘Authorized Date’ cannot be changed.” Conclusion - You need to be a member of the Project Collection Service account group in order to set the fields ‘System.ChangedDate’ and ‘System.CreatedDate’ to historic dates - You need to instantiate the WorkItemStore using the flag ByPassValidation - The System.ChangedDate needs to be set to a historic date at the time of work item creation. You cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date earlier than the existing ChangedDate and you cannot reset the ChangedDate to a date greater than the current date time. - The System.CreatedDate can only be reset after a work item has been created. You cannot set the CreatedDate at the time of work item creation. The CreatedDate cannot be greater than the current date. You can however reset the CreatedDate to a date earlier than the existing value. - You will not be able to synthesize the Sprint burn down chart by changing the value of System.ChangedDate and System.CreatedDate to historic dates, since the burn down chart uses AsOf queries to calculate the unfinished work points which internally uses the System.AuthorizedDate and NOT the System.ChangedDate & System.CreatedDate - System.AuthorizedDate cannot be set to a historic date using the TFS API Read other posts on using the TFS API here… Enjoy!

However, I have also tried p:commandButton but to no avail. • Google Web Toolkit Deferred Binding Issue

  I developed a web app using GWT about 2 years ago, since then the application has evolved. In its current state it relies on fetching a single XML file and parsing the information from it. Overall this works great. A requirement of this app is that it needs to be able to be ran from the filesystem (file:///..) as well as the traditional model of running from a webserver (http://...) Fetching this file from a webserver works exactly as expected using a RequestBuilder object. When running the app from the filesystem Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Chrome all behave as expected. When running the app from the filesystem using IE7 or IE8 the RequestBuilder.send() call fails, the information about the error suggests that there is a problem accessing the file due to violating the same origin policy. The app worked as expected in IE6 but not in IE7 or IE8. So I looked at the source code of RequestBuilder.java and saw that the actual request was being executed with an XMLHttpRequest GWT object. So I looked at the source code for XMLHttpRequest.java and found out some information. Here is the code (starts at line 83 in XMLHttpRequest.java) public static native XMLHttpRequest create() /*-{ if ($wnd.XMLHttpRequest) { return new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { try { return new ActiveXObject('MSXML2.XMLHTTP.3.0'); } catch (e) { return new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } } }-*/; So basically if an XMLHttpRequest cannot be created (like in IE6 because it is not available) an ActiveXObject is used instead. I read up a little bit more on the IE implementation of XMLHttpRequest, and it appears that it is only supported for interacting with files on a webserver. I found a setting in IE8 (Tools-Internet Options-Advanced-Security-Enable native XMLHTTP support), when I uncheck this box my app works. I assume this is because I am more of less telling IE to not use their implementation of XmlHttpRequest, so GWT just uses an ActiveXObject because it doesn't think the native XmlHttpRequest is available. This fixes the problem, but is hardly a long term solution. I can currently catch a failed send request and verify that it was trying to fetch the XML file from the filesystem using normal GWT. What I would like to do in this case is catch the IE7 and IE8 case and have them use a ActiveXObject instead of a native XmlHttpRequest object. There was a posting on the GWT google group that had a supposed solution for this problem (link). Looking at it I can tell that it was created for an older version of GWT. I am using the latest release and think that this is more or less what I would like to do (use GWT deferred binding to detect a specific browser type and run my own implementation of XMLHttpRequest.java in place of the built in GWT implementation).   Alright, I've been on the making of a sprite class and a sprite sheet manager, but have come across this problem. Pretty much, the project is acting like so; for example: Let's take this .png image, with a transparent background. Note how it has alpha-transparent pixels around it in the lineart. Now, in the latter link's image, in the left (with CornflowerBlue background) it is shown the image drawn in another project (let's call it "Project1") with a simpler sprite class - there, it works. The right (with Purple background for differentiating) shows it drawn with a different class in "Project2" - where the problem manifests itself.
