• [ASP.NET] Difficulties using custom control - RichTextEditor

  I am working on a school project that uses ASP.NET. I found this TextEditor control ( http://blogs.msdn.com/kirti/archive/2007/11/10/rich-text-editor-is-here.aspx ) that I am trying to include but it isn't working. The error I am getting is: Error Rendering Control - TextEditor. An unhandled exception has occurred. Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index. I see this error when I go Design part of the editor. I just don't understand this error at all. Also I am a lil bit confused as there is no parameter called index. :( What I have done is reference the binary in my project and then on the page I am trying to use it have registered its namespace and assembly with this line: <%@ Register Assembly="RichTextEditor" Namespace="AjaxControls" TagPrefix="rtt" %> I then go ahead and try to add the control to the page with this line of code: <rtt:richtexteditor ID="TextEditor" Theme="Blue" runat="server" /> Any help would be much appreciated. I haven't done anything like add a custom control before.

• How to rename Java packages without breaking Subversion history?

  Hello everyone, The company I'm working for is starting up and they changed their name in the process. So we still use the package name com.oldname because we are afraid of breaking the file change history, or the ancestry links between versions, or whatever we could break (I don't think I use the right terms, but you get the concept). We use: Eclipse, TortoiseSVN, Subversion I found somewhere that I should do it in many steps to prevent incoherence between content of .svn folders and package names in java files: First use TortoiseSVN to rename the directory, updating the .svn directories. Then, manually rename the directory back to the original name. To finally use Eclipse to rename the packages (refactor) back to the new name, updating the java files. That seems good to me, but I need to know if the ancestry and history and everything else will still be coherent and working well. I don't have the keys to that server, that's why I don't hastily backup things and try one or two things. I would like to come up with a good reason not to do it, or a way of doing it which works. • JQuery: Toggle submit button according to if terms are agreed with or not

  I have a checkbox with id terms and a submit button in my form with class registration. I would like the submit button to be disabled initially, and then to be toggled on and off whenever the user toggle on and off the terms checkbox. I would also like to have a confirmation dialog pop up when the submit button is clicked and that if it is confirmed the submit button will be disabled again (to prevent duplicate clicking). I have gotten the last part and the first part working (I think), but I can't figure out how to get the toggling working. • Need help figuring out scala compiler errors.

  Hello all, I have been working on a project in scala, but I am getting some error messages that I don't quite understand. The classes that I am working with are relatively simple. For example: abstract class Shape case class Point(x: Int, y: Int) extends Shape case class Polygon(points: Point*) extends Shape Now suppose that I create a Polygon: val poly = new Polygon(new Point(2,5), new Point(7,0), new Point(3,1)) Then if I attempt to determine the location and size of the smallest possible rectangle that could contain the polygon, I get various errors that I don't quite understand. Below are snippets of different attempts and the corresponding error messages that they produce. val upperLeftX = poly.points.reduceLeft(Math.min(_.x, _.x)) Gives the error: "missing parameter type for expanded function ((x$1) = x$1.x)" val upperLeftX = poly.points.reduceLeft((a: Point, b: Point) => (Math.min(a.x, b.x))) Gives this error: "type mismatch; found : (Point, Point) = Int required: (Any, Point) = Any" I am very confused about both of these error messages. If anyone could explain more clearly what I am doing incorrectly, I would really appreciate it. Yes, I see that the second error says that I need type "Any" but I don't understand exactly how to implement a change that would work as I need it. Obviously simply changing "a: Point" to "a: Any" is not a viable solution, so what am I missing?

• Dynamic Google Maps API InfoWindow HTML Content

  I am working in Flash Builder 4 with Google Map's ActionScript API. I have created a map, loaded some custom markers onto it and added some MouseEvent listeners to each marker. The trouble comes when I load an InfoWindow panel. I want to dynamically set the htmlContent based off of information stored in a database. The trouble is that this information can change every couple of seconds and each marker has a unique data set so I can not statically set it at the time I actually create the markers. I have a method that will every minute or so load all of the records from my database into an Object variable. Everything I need to display in the htmlContent is contained in this object under a unique identifier. The basic crux of the problem is that there is no way for me to uniquely identify an info window, so I can not determine what information to pull into the panel. marker.addEventListener(MapMouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, function(e:MapMouseEvent):void { showInfoWindow(e.latLng) }, false, 0, false); That is my mouse event listener. The function I call, "showInfowindow" looks like this: private function showInfoWindow(latlng:LatLng):void { var options:InfoWindowOptions = new InfoWindowOptions({title: appData[*I NEED A UNIQUE ID HERE!!!*].type + " Summary", contentHTML: appData[*I NEED A UNIQUE ID HERE!!!*].info}); this.map.openInfoWindow(latlng, options); } I thought I was onto something by being able to pass a variable in my event listener declaration, but it simply hates having a dynamic variable passed through, it only returns the last value use. Example: marker.addEventListener(MapMouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, function(e:MapMouseEvent):void { showInfoWindow(e.latLng, record.unit_id) }, false, 0, false); That solution is painfully close to working. I iterate through a loop to create my markers when I try the above solution and roll over a marker I get information, but every marker's information reflects whatever information the last marker created had. I apologize for the long explaination but I just wanted to make my question as clear as possible. Does anyone have any ideas about how to patch up my almost-there-solution that I posted at the bottom or any from the ground up solutions? Thanks in advance, Peter Hanneman

• After Navigate2 Method returns S_OK Stuck at READYSTATE of READYSTATE_LOADING

  I am working on a MFC Document View architecture application which has multiple documents and views and a tabbed window interface. I have been tasked with making an automatic switch to another tab on the press of the OK button in one of the other tabs. When the other tab is clicked on it uses a C++ wrapper over IWebBrowser2 to navigate to a specific web page. When this is done manually by clicking on the tab everything is fine and the webpage within the view loads successfully. In my first attempt at doing this the tab successfully switched in response to a call to AfxGetMainWnd()->SendMessageToDescendants(SOME_MESSAGE, ...); however by sending this windows message at the wrong point the application would crash once control returned because the chain of events caused the (modeless) dialog (*) that sent the message, to no longer exist. I then found the correct place to make the call, but now when the other tab is activated, it no longer displays the webpage as it should. To debug this problem I added code to check the READYSTATE in both the situation where it works and the situation where it does not. When the page fails to load (despite the call to Navigate2 returning S_OK), the READYSTATE just stays at READYSTATE_LOADING. Unfortunately now I am to many edits away from when I had it partially working. I have added TRACE statements to the most obvious events such as OnSetFocus, CView::OnActivateView but all traces come out in the same order despite the behaviour being different * hosted in the view

  I have googled but I can't find answers for these questions. Your advice is appreciated. centOS on vps with 512MB RAM, nginx, php5 (fastcgi), mysql5 (myisam, not innodb). I need to optimize this app created by some ex-employee. This app is working, but it's slow. Table: t1(id[bigint(20)],c1[mediumtext],c2[mediumtext],c3[mediumtext],c4[mediumtext]) id is some random big number, and is PK Those mediumtext rows look like this: c1="|box-002877|" c2="|ct-2348|rd-11124854|hw-3949|wd-8872|hw-119037736|...etc.. " c3="|fg-2448|wd-11172|hw-1656|...etc.. " c4="|hg-2448|qd-16667|...etc." (some columns contain a lot of data, around 900 KiB, database around 300 MiB) Yes, mediumtext "is bad", and (20) is too big... but I didn't create this. Those codes can be found on any of those 4 mediumtext's... //he needs all the columns of the row containing $code, so he wrote this: function f1($code) { SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE c1 LIKE '%$code%' OR c2 LIKE '%$code%' OR c3 LIKE '%$code%' OR c4 LIKE '%$code%'; Questions: Q1. If $code is found on c1... mysql automatically stops checking and returns row=id+c1+c2+c3+c4? or it will continue (wasting time) checking c2, c3 and c4?... Q2. Mysql is working with this table on disk (not RAM) because of the mediumtext, right? is this the primary cause of slowness? Q3. That query can be cached by mysql (if using a big query_cache_size=128M value on the my.cnf)? or that's not cacheable due to the mediumtexts, or due to the "OR LIKE"...? Q4. Do you recommend rewriting this with mysql's INSTR() / LOCATE() / MATCH..AGAINST [FULLTEXT]?

• Confused over behavior of List.mapi in F#

  I am building some equations in F#, and when working on my polynomial class I found some odd behavior using List.mapi Basically, each polynomial has an array, so 3*x^2 + 5*x + 6 would be [|6, 5, 3|] in the array, so, when adding polynomials, if one array is longer than the other, then I just need to append the extra elements to the result, and that is where I ran into a problem. Later I want to generalize it to not always use a float, but that will be after I get more working. So, the problem is that I expected List.mapi to return a List not individual elements, but, in order to put the lists together I had to put [] around my use of mapi, and I am curious why that is the case. • how to queue function behind ajax request

  What I'm asking is conceptual rather than why my code doesn't work. I'm trying to make a web app that displays content fetched from a database in a sequence, one at a time, and then waits for a response from the user before continuing to the next one. I'm working with javascript on the client side with the JQuery library and php on the server side. In theory, there's time while waiting for the user's input to fetch information from the server using an AJAX request and have it ready for the use by the time he clicks the button, but there's also a chance that such an AJAX request hasn't completed when he clicks the button. So I need something like pseudocode: display current information fetch next data point from the server in the background onUserInput { if ( ajax request complete) { present the information fetched in this request } else if (ajax request not complete) { wait for ajax request complete present information to user } My question is this: how does one implement this " else if (ajax request not complete) { wait for ajax request complete " part. I'm currently using JQuery for my AJAX needs. I'm somewhat new to working with AJAX, and I did search around, but I didn't find anything that seemed on point. I don't know what tools I should use for this. Some kind of queue maybe? I don't need to be spoon fed. I just need to know how this is done, using what tools or if my desired outcome would be accomplished in some other way entirely. Thanks.

• Java split xml file

  Hi all, I'm working on a piece of code to split files. I want to split flat file (that's ok, it is working fine) and xml file. The idea is to split based of a number of files to split: I have a file, and I want to split it in x files (x is a parameters). I'm doing the split by taking the size of the file and spliting the size by the number of files to split. Then, mysolution was to use a BufferedReader and to use it like while ((n = reader.read(buffer, 0, buffer.length)) != -1) { { The main problem is that for the xml file I cannot just split it, but I have to split it based on a block delimited by a start xml tag and end xml tag: <start tag> bla bla xml stuff </end tag> So I cannot cut a block at the middle. So if when I'm at the half of a block, is the size of my new file is greater than my max, I will have to read until the end of the tag, and then, to start a next file. The problem is that I have all sort of cases, and is a bit difficult to search the end tag. - the block reads a text until the middle of the end tag - the block reads a text until the end of the end tag, and no more other caracter after - etc and in the same time to have a loop and read the next block. Some times the end of a block concatenated with the start of the next one, I have the end xml tag. I hope you get the idea. My question is, does anyone have some algorithm that does that more accurate and who i treating all special cases ? The idea is to split the file as quickly as possible. Thanks alot.

• Sharepoint designer is replacing french characters with &#65533;

  First of all, I'm not a web designer, I'm a programmer, so I'm working a bit out of my knowledge area. However, as the person in my office who has some working knowledge of French, I'm stuck with this issue. The Problem: Sharepoint Designer is replacing all French accented characters with the &#65533; (square box or diamond-? �) character. It doesn't appear to matter if I enter the 'é' character as alt-130 (in either design or source or as &eacute; Everything works fine when editing, but when the file is saved and loaded into a browser, it replaces the characters. When reloading into designer, the file shows the 65533 symbol. EDIT: More info. I use &#233; and save, close SP designer, Reloading SP designer will show the é (instead of the code) in source. Next reload will have replaced it with &#65533; Question 1: (more important) HOW DO I STOP THIS!? Question 2: (more interesting) Why does this happen? Charset is iso-8859-1

• What is the proper way to align UITableViewCells when only some have an imageView?

  Hello all, I am new to iPhone programming and working on my first real application (i.e. one not written in a book or online) and I've run into a small problem which I could solve a multitude of ways, but feel like there should be a good solution that perhaps I am just missing. Here is the scenario: I have a UITableView with a bunch of standard UITableViewCells in it. What I want to do is toggle a green check mark when the cell is selected and I have that part working (note: I'm already using the accessoryType for something else, so I can't use it for the checkmark...besides, it's not as pretty). Unfortunately, when I toggle the checkmark like so: if (...) { cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"checkmark.png"]; } else { cell.imageView.image = nil; } It makes the cell's label bounce back and forth depending on whether it is checked or not. What is the proper way to align the cell's text (set via cell.textLabel.text) regardless of whether or not it has an image set? The solutions I have come up with are: Create a blank 40x40 png image in Photoshop and set the unchecked to that Create a blank 40x40 image solely in code Set some setting that I don't know about that will align it for me Create a subclass of UITableCellView that does what I need (which would be stupid, I'd just go with option 1...) Suggestions? Thoughts? Comments? Thank you very much :-) P.S. I'd like the solution to work with OS 3.0 and 4.0 if that makes any sort of difference.

• When should I be cautious using about data binding in .NET?

  I just started working on a small team of .NET programmers about a month ago and recently got in a discussion with our team lead regarding why we don't use databinding at all in our code. Every time we work with a data grid, we iterate through a data table and populate the grid row by row; the code usually looks something like this: Dim dt as DataTable = FuncLib.GetData("spGetTheData ...") Dim i As Integer For i = 0 To dt.Rows.Length - 1 '(not sure why we do not use a for each here)' gridRow = grid.Rows.Add() gridRow(constantProductID).Value = dt("ProductID").Value gridRow(constantProductDesc).Value = dt("ProductDescription").Value Next '(I am probably missing something in the code, but that is basically it)' Our team lead was saying that he got burned using data binding when working with Sheridan Grid controls, VB6, and ADO recordsets back in the nineties. He's not sure what the exact problem was, but he remembers that binding didn't work as expected and caused him some major problems. Since then, they haven't trusted data binding and load the data for all their controls by hand. The reason the conversation even came up was because I found data binding to be very simple and really liked separating the data presentation (in this case, the data grid) from the in-memory data source (in this case, the data table). "Loading" the data row by row into the grid seemed to break this distinction. I also observed that with the advent of XAML in WPF and Silverlight, data-binding seems like a must-have in order to be able to cleanly wire up a designer's XAML code with your data. When should I be cautious of using data-binding in .NET?

• Set-Cookie error appearing in logs when deployed to google appengine

  I have been working towards converting one of our applications to be threadsafe. When testing on the local dev app server everything is working as expected. However, upon deployment of the application it seems that Cookies are not being written correctly?   I'm working on a GAE app. I want to query datastore and retrieve all records between startDate and endDate. Each record has a datetime field. • Redirecting users on select from autocomplete?

  Hi, i'm trying to implement the jquery autocomplete plugin. I've got it up and running, but something is not working properly. Basically i have a autocomplete-list of employees. The list is generated from a table in a sql-database (employee_names and employee_ID), using a VB.NET handler (.ashx file). The data is formatted as: employee_name-employee_ID. So far so good and all employees are listed in autocomplete. The problem is that i don't know how to redirect a user to a certain page (for example employee_profile.aspx) when they've selected an employee from autocomplete. This is my redirect-code, but it ain't working like it should: $('#fname2').result(function(event, data, formatted) { location.href = "employee_profile.aspx?id=" + data }); For example; a user selects It will redirect a user to employee_profile.aspx?id=name of employee-id of employee (for example: employee_profile.aspx?id=John Doe-91210) instead of employee_profile.aspx?id=91210. I know i can strip the employee_ID with: formatResult: function(data, value) { return value.split("-")[1]; } }); But i do not know how to pass that employee_ID to the redirect-page.. • Use $_FILES on a page called by .ajax

  I have two .php pages that I'm working with. Index.php has a file upload form that posts back to index.php. I can access the $_FILES no problem on index.php after submitting the form. My issue is that I want (after the form submit and the page loads) to use .ajax (jQuery) to call another .php file so that file can open and process some of the rows and return the results to ajax. The ajax then displays the results and recursively calls itself to process the next batch of rows. Basically I want to process (put in the DB etc) the csv in chunks and display it for the user in between chunks. Im doing it this way because the files are 400,000+ rows and the user doesnt want to wait the 10+ min for them all to be processed. I dont want to move this file (save it) because I just need to process it and throw it away and if a user closes the page while its processing the file wont be thrown away. I could cron script it but I dont want to. What I would really like to do is pass the (single) $_FILES through .ajax OR Save it in a $_POST or $_SESSION to use on the second page. Is there any hope for my cause? • Dojo DataGrid, programmatic creation

  I'm trying to create a DataGrid dynamically. Instead, I want to create the grid dynamically. Using FireBug I can see that the DataGrid widget is created but that it has no rows or columns. So my guess is that the datastore or layout are not being passed correctly. However, it does appear that at the point of creation the values of theStore and layout are correct. Suggestions please, or indeed a working example of a programmic grid might solve the problem.

• Temporary debug releases and final application releases

  I have a quick question regarding debug and release in VS 2008. I have an app i've been working on - its not yet complete but the bulk of the functionality is there. So basically i'm trying to give a copy of it now to the person helping with documentation - just so they can have a play and get the feel for what i've made. Now the question is how to provide it to them. I was told to just copy the .exe out of the debug/bin folder and put that onto USB. But when testing, if I run this .exe anywhere else (outside of this folder) it crashes. I've now worked out why this is: var path = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["PathToUse"]; var files = Directory.GetFiles(path); throws a null reference, so that App.config file is not being used. If I copy that file in with the .exe it works again. So actually my question is regarding the best way to manage this situation. What is the best way to provide a working copy to people, and, is there a reference on preparing apps for release - so everything is packaged together and installed in a clean structured folder heirarchy?

  Hello Everyone. I am new to delphi. I was trying to add C Object files in my Delphi project and link them directly since Delphi Supports C Object Linking. I got it working when i link a single Object file. But when i try to link multiple object files, i am getting error 'Unsatisfied forward or external declaration'. I have tried this in Delphi 2007 as well as XE.So what am i doing wrong here? • sql server 2005 stored procedure unexpected behaviour

  i have written a simple stored procedure (run as job) that checks user subscribe keyword alerts. when article posted the stored procedure sends email to those users if the subscribed keyword matched with article title. It was working fine for last 3 months but a week before it behaved unexpectedly. The problem is that it sends irrelevant results. The @String contains user alert keyword and it matches to the latest articles using Full text search. The normal execution time is 3 minutes but its execution time is 3 days (in problem). Now the current status is its working fine but we are unable to find any reason why it sent irrelevant results. Note: I am already removing noise words from user alert keyword. I am using SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition.

• PHP Regex to remove nested form elements but not input elements

  I'm modifying a PHP script that I have and it is currently outputting a nested form. Something like: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <p>stuff here here, this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <div>stuff here possibilly</div> Username: <input type="text" name="user" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> <p>otherstuff this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> </form> Nested form's are a no-no (IE hates them and basically causes the form to stop working), so I need to remove the nested form lines, but not the form items. I need to remove the nested: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> and </form> but not the outer <form and </form> or the input or submit stuff. Is this possible to do with regex? Note, the reason I just want to regex out the form rather than find the problem is because I know it will take some significant re-working to get rid of the double form... the regex solution is quick for now.

• Bad crypto error in .NET 4.0

  Today I moved my web application to .net 4.0 and Forms Auth just stopped working. After several hours of digging into my SqlMembershipProvider (simplified version of built-in SqlMembershipProvider), I found that HMACSHA256 hash is not consistent.
