Hello i am getting warnings after i have installed java on kubuntu 11.10. Advice needed on Process - Service Design

Need some advice from experts on designing a flow. Create a service that will read a csv file which may contain anywhere over 6000+ rows of individual ids as shown in the sample below. Need to read that file and go to oracle database and fetch a vname,vnumber,vid of each id in the csv and then go to document repository i.e. Oracle UCM and download all documents matching vname,vnumber,vid there can be =0 documents for each vname,vnumber,vid and save them on a file system. UCM exposes a webservice to dowload the documents. Finally create a new csv appending the filenames that are downloaded for each id. Need to keep track of any errors but need to make sure to go over the whole ids in the csv to download the documents and skip in case of errors. Need some advice on how to go about designing this as there may be over 6000+ rows in a csv file and looping it and hitting the database for each individual id and then hitting a UCM may be a bit expensive so open for any idea. How to go by designing this solution. Wondering if messaging can be helpful here or offloading process of getting the vname,vnumber,vid to pl/sql packages, creating staging tables etc. Initial csv that contains ids: **ID** 12345a 12s345 3456fr we9795 we9797 Final csv output: **ID Files Downloaded from UCM** 12345a a.pdf,b.doc,d.txt 12s345 a1.pdf,s2.pdf,f4.gif 3456fr b.xls we9795 we9797 x.doc Thanks

Need Help Setting an Image with Transparent Background to Clipboard

I need help setting a transparent image to the clipboard. I keep getting "handle is invalid". Basically, I need a "second set of eyes" to look over the following code. (The complete working project at ftp://missico.net/ImageVisualizer.zip.) This is an image Debug Visualizer class library, but I made the included project to run as an executable for testing. (Note that window is a toolbox window and show in taskbar is set to false.) I was tired of having to perform a screen capture on the toolbox window, open the screen capture with an image editor, and then deleting the background added because it was a screen capture. So I thought I would quickly put the transparent image onto the clipboard. Well, the problem is...no transparency support for Clipboard.SetImage. Google to the rescue...not quite. This is what I have so far. I pulled from a number of sources. See the code for the main reference. My problem is the "invalid handle" when using CF_DIBV5. Do I need to use BITMAPV5HEADER and CreateDIBitmap? "Local transaction already has 1 non-XA Resource: cannot add more resources" error

After reading previous questions about this error, it seems like all of them conclude that you need to enable XA on all of the data sources. But: What if I don't want a distributed transaction? What would I do if I want to start transactions on two different databases at the same time, but commit the transaction on one database and roll back the transaction on the other? I'm wondering how my code actually initiated a distributed transaction. It looks to me like I'm starting completely separate transactions on each of the databases. I ran the app on two different sun application servers. On one runs it fine, the other throws the error. I don't see any difference in how the two servers are configured although they do connect to different, but equivalent databases. So the question is Why doesn't the above code start completely independent transactions? How can I force it to start independent transactions rather than a distributed transaction? What configuration could cause the difference in behavior between the two application servers? Thanks.

Generating strongly biased radom numbers for tests

I want to run tests with randomized inputs and need to generate 'sensible' random numbers, that is, numbers that match good enough to pass the tested function's preconditions, but hopefully wreak havoc deeper inside its code. math.random() (I'm using Lua) produces uniformly distributed random numbers. Scaling these up will give far more big numbers than small numbers, and there will be very few integers. I would like to skew the random numbers (or generate new ones using the old function as a randomness source) in a way that strongly favors 'simple' numbers, but will still cover the whole range, I.e. extending up to positive/negative infinity (or ±1e309 for double). This means: numbers up to, say, ten should be most common, integers should be more common than fractions, numbers ending in 0.5 should be the most common fractions, followed by 0.25 and 0.75; then 0.125, and so on. A different description: Fix a base probability x such that probabilities will sum to one and define the probability of a number n as xk where k is the generation in which n is constructed as a surreal number1. That assigns x to 0, x2 to -1 and +1, x3 to -2, -1/2, +1/2 and +2, and so on. This gives a nice description of something close to what I want (it skews a bit too much), but is near-unusable for computing random numbers. The resulting distribution is nowhere continuous (it's fractal!), I'm not sure how to determine the base probability x (I think for infinite precision it would be zero), and computing numbers based on this by iteration is awfully slow (spending near-infinite time to construct large numbers). Does anyone know of a simple approximation that, given a uniformly distributed randomness source, produces random numbers very roughly distributed as described above? I would like to run thousands of randomized tests, quantity/speed is more important than quality. Still, better numbers mean less inputs get rejected. Lua has a JIT, so performance can't be reasonably predicted. Jumps based on randomness will break every prediction, and many calls to math.random() will be slow, too. This means a closed formula will be better than an iterative or recursive one. 1 Wikipedia has an article on surreal numbers, with a nice picture. A surreal number is a pair of two surreal numbers, i.e. x := {n|m}, and its value is the number in the middle of the pair, i.e. (for finite numbers) {n|m} = (n+m)/2 (as rational). If one side of the pair is empty, that's interpreted as increment (or decrement, if right is empty) by one. If both sides are empty, that's zero. Initially, there are no numbers, so the only number one can build is 0 := { | }. In generation two one can build numbers {0| } =: 1 and { |0} =: -1, in three we get {1| } =: 2, {|1} =: -2, {0|1} =: 1/2 and {-1|0} =: -1/2 (plus some more complex representations of known numbers, e.g. {-1|1} ? 0). Note that e.g. 1/3 is never generated by finite numbers because it is an infinite fraction – the same goes for floats, 1/3 is never represented exactly.

It looks like the DSOFramer.ocx component is not available for download anymore from MSDN as described here. Also the DSOFramer component is a 32 bit component. Given this, i have 2 questions: Is there any other alternative for hosting a word document in a Windows Form apart from using the DSOFramer.ocx component? If i move to Windows 64 bit operating system, and run the windows form as a native 64 bit process, then how do I host the word document in a 64 bit process?

Memory leak involving jQuery Ajax requests

I have a webpage that's leaking memory in both IE8 and Firefox; the memory usage displayed in the Windows Process Explorer just keeps growing over time. The following page requests the "unplanned.json" url, which is a static file that never changes (though I do set my Cache-control HTTP header to no-cache to make sure that the Ajax request always goes through). When it gets the results, it clears out an HTML table, loops over the json array it got back from the server, and dynamically adds a row to an HTML table for each entry in the array. Then it waits 2 seconds and repeats this process. So you can't give it a query like `$("#content tbody tr")` and expect it to remove all of the elements you've specified. Any element that you remove with it must have an `id` attribute. So if I want to remove my `tbody`, then I must assign an `id` to my `tbody` tag or else it will give an error. It removes the element itself and all of its descendants, so if you simply want to empty that element then you'll have to re-create it afterwards (or modify the plugin to empty instead of remove). So here's my page above modified to use Toran's plugin. For the sake of simplicity I didn't apply any of the general performance advice offered by Peter. Windows Spooler Events API doesn't generate events for network printers

FindFirstPrinterChangeNotification FindNextPrinterChangeNotification the problem When I print a document on the network printers from my machine no events are captured by the monitor (uses the fuctions above) Notice Events ARE generated OK for local printers, only Network Printers are problematic!

Uploadify Hanging at random on 100%

I am using Uploadify (http://www.uploadify.com/) to enable my users to upload images via my web application. The problem I am having is that every now and then (at what appears to be random) when the progress bar reaches 100% it 'hangs' and does nothing. I was wondering if any developers familiar with uploadify may have any idea how to solve this? I am in desperate need of some help. No page number for divider pages in LaTeX

I have a report in LaTeX, and i have used the following commands to create my Appendix, however, my lecturer states that any divider pages should be unnumbered. \documentclass{report} \usepackage{appendix} \begin{document} \include{chap1} \include{appendix} \end{document} Then in appendix.tex \appendix \pagestyle{empty} \appendixpage \noappendicestocpagenum \addappheadtotoc This creates the Appendices divider page, but still puts a page number on it in the footer. There is no page number in the TOC, as expected. How can i remove it from the footer? Thanks

ABC PDF - create 256 color images

I am using ABCpdf7 to create pdf documents on the fly - Here is something that I do not understand. When I create the pdf document from a url - the images in the pdf document seems to be 256 colors. Does anyone know how I can set ABCpdf to create full color images. If I spesify the image url - the image gets created at full color - but then I cannot crab a page in one go

WebBrowser.InnerHtml strange behavior

I'm trying to load page and then remove some elements in it. While doing that I encountered strange behavior. When I do webBrowser1.Document.Body.InnerHtml = webBrowser1.Document.Body.InnerHtml; It turns off some JavaScript code, for example for Google.com it turns off auto completion. Why is that? I suppose it has something to do with JavaScript initialization, if so how can I reinitialize the page?

Using JS to set the background color of a TD is fine. But, setting the border color is problematic in FF 3.0.18 although IE 6 doesn't experience this. FF is problematic in that it requires the TD element to have an attribute style initialized to border-style: solid. Without that, setting border color of a TD won't work. Is this known bug? How do I set the border color without having to set style attribute as well as the initialization value? I know another trick of setting the class attribute instead of setting the border color directly. Is this an indication that somehow TD hates having its border color set dynamically? Is this known as well?
