• Vim hanging after parsing .vimrc (even a blank one) file on Solaris 10

  Hello all, I am having a problem with vim 7.2 hanging (for about 10 seconds) after it parses the .vimrc file. I had a similar issue in the past with tcsh on linux, but it was resolved by setting TERM to xterm-color. The same does not resolve the issue here. • Resize my Google Map API

  I am new to JS, and have found the answer to a previous question, which brought up a new question, which brought me here again. I have a Reveal Modal that contains a Google Map API. When a button is clicked, the Reveal Modal pops up, and displays the Google Map. My problem is that only a third of the map is displaying. This is because a resize trigger needs to be implemented. My question is how do I implement the google.maps.event.trigger(map, 'resize')? Where do I place this little snippet of code? • iPhone: Using dispatch_after to mimick NSTimer

  Don't know a whole lot about blocks. How would you go about mimicking a repeating NSTimer with dispatch_after? My problem is that I want to "pause" a timer when the app moves to the background, but subclassing NSTimer does not seem to work. I tried something which seems to work. I cannot judge its performance implications or whether it could be greatly optimized. • Code picks up value from selectOneMenu and selectBooleanCheckbox, even though it is not rendered

  I've got code the following code in my .xhtml <t:panelGroup rendered="false"> <t:selectOneMenu id="id" value="#{row.someValue}" displayValueOnly="#{form.readState}"> <f:selectItems value="#{row.listOfValues}"/> </t:selectOneMenu> </t:panelGroup> The listOfValues is set in a form populator, and is thus present in the form object. Also, as expected, the portion outlined above is not rendered in the output HTML. But, when clicking the save button in the page the following code tries to get the value from the XHTML, even though it is not rendered. It will thus not copy the value present in the form, but set it to null (as it is not set in the XHTML). object1.setSomeValue(form.getSomeValue()); As far as I can see this only happens with selectBooleanCheckbox and selectOneMenu. E.g. inputText works fine. Any idea on how to fix it?

• How to model has_many with polymorphism?

  I've run into a situation that I am not quite sure how to model. Suppose I have a User class, and a user has many services. However, these services are quite different, for example a MailService and a BackupService, so single table inheritance won't do. • Commercial web application--scalable database design

  I'm designing a set of web apps to track scientific laboratory data. Each laboratory has several members, each of whom will access both their own data and that of their laboratory as a whole. Many typical queries will thus be expected to return records of multiple members (e.g. my mouse, joe's mouse and sally's mouse). I think I have the database fairly well normalized. I'm now wondering how to ensure that users can efficiently access both their own data and their lab's data set when it is mixed among (hopefully) a whole ton of records from other labs. What I've come up with so far is that most tables will end with two fields: user_id and labgroup_id. The WHERE clause of any SELECT statement will include the appropriate reference to one of the id fields ("...WHERE 'labroup_id=n..." or "...WHERE user_id=n..."). My questions are: Is this an approach that will scale to 10^6 or more records? If so, what's the best way to use these fields in a query so that it most efficiently searches the relevant subset of the database? e.g. Should the first step in querying be to create a temporary table containing just the labgroup's data? Or will indexing using some combination of the id, user_id, and labroup_id fields be sufficient at that scale? I thank any responders very much in advance.

  How can you able to hide the (done) bar button item in a view? Basically, I have a view controller added with navigation bar (in IB) then, I also added a bar button item into the nav bar. I just want initially the (done) bar button item is hidden.. when input is in the text view the (done) button is already visible. Any idea on this implementation on a view controller? The problem I run into is this: What happens when I have an ID, and need to determine the TYPE of person? If a user comes to my site as PersonId = 23, how do I go about figuring out which type of person it is?

  I have followed this article and implemented my service and I can open the web browser and see the test data being published. I would like to create a custom formatted response, as for my needs this will not be published to the internet and it's an isolated feed that other devices on the local network could read to get the data I'm publishing. I'd like to create an XML document and publish it instead of using the SyndicationItem that is being used in the article to display title, author, description, etc. Would like to create something simple to be published: <MyData> <ID>33883</ID> <Title>The Name</Title> <Artist>The Artist</Artist> </MyData> I know how to create that in an XMLWriter, but how to publish in a SyndicationFeedFormatter that is the return type for the function in the article? I have seen the XmlSyndicationContent class but haven't seen any practical examples that would accomplish what I want to do.

• jQuery validation with submit handler

  I setup the form validation using jQuery validation plug-in's validate method and I have a submit handler that modifies the input element's value (I use YUI editor and it needs saveHTML() call to copy the iframe's content to the textarea element.). When submitting the form, I want the validator to validate the form after executing my submit handler. But it doesn't execute my submit handler if it is registered after the validate call. • 960 GridSystem, three grid_4 inside one grid_12

  I've created a 16 column layout with 960gs with a div class="grid_12" and after that a grid_4 (12+4...) Inside that grid_12 I wanted a three column style (3 grid_4). But the grid_4 boxes don't fit inside the grid_12, the last box drop into a second row. Shouldn't the 960gs framework be able to do this layout for me, have i missed anything? • Style row banding and selection in tr:table using CSS

  I've got a tr:table that I need to style using CSS. All the normal style functions of a table are working, but row banding and row selection aren't coming up. When I view the rendered source, I'm not seeing a difference in the rows for an id or class to grab on to, and the official documentation doesn't have any attributes for declaring a style class for either. Is this possible and if so what do I need to do to get my CSS to grab onto it? <tr:table id="myTable" value="#{tableValues}" rowBandingInterval="1"> <tr:column> ##Stuff## </tr:column> <tr:column> ##Stuff## </tr:column> <tr:column> ##Stuff## </tr:column> </tr:table> Edit Let me try to clairfy what's happening. First, using the declaration above tells jsf to generate a table, and the attribute rowBandingInterval tells it to give each row alternating colors (If it was set to 2, then it would do 2 rows one color, 2 rows another, 2 rows the original, etc.) Once the page gets rendered into standard html, trinidad (and jsf) apply their own classes and IDs to the html. My normal procedure is to look at the rendered html, find the class that it is appling and add CSS rules for it. However in this case, no additional styles are added (nothing in the rendered html denotes one row to be different from another). So the question is, how do I tell trinidad to either give alternating rows and the user selected row different classes/IDs for me to grab on to with CSS?

  I'm currently working on a project with a one page design that'll slide up and down between sections on an <a href> link... Currently, i have it written as follows: <ul> <li><a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="goToByScroll('top')">home</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="goToByScroll('artistsmaterials')">artist's materials</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="goToByScroll('pictureframing')">picture framing</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="goToByScroll('gallery')">gallery</a></li> <li><a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="goToByScroll('contactus')">contact us</a></li> </ul> ...with the most relevant portion being the links: <a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="goToByScroll('contactus')"> Then in a .js file I have: function goToByScroll(id){ $('html,body').animate({scrollTop: $("#"+id).offset().top},'slow'); } Is this ok? Or should this be done a different way?

  i have asp.net web application in which i need to create form dynamically depend upon table which user selected.however,i created form dynamically with it's control like text box,drop downlist etc. but not able to access those controls at particular button click event.   Okay, I have two models, a recipe model and a category model. In my layout(application.html.erb) I have a main container div that "yields" the recipes index action. I'm trying to list all the category names as links in a side bar(also a div) by iterating over them in an unordered list. When you click one of the links it will go to the category show page which will then list all the recipes in that category. Here is how I'm trying to list the links in - <div class="container" id="categories"> <% for category in @categories %> <ul> <li><%= link_to category.name, category %></li> </ul> <% end %> </div> The problem is I get a NoMethodError - You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.each It is not retrieving the records from the model. Any suggestions on how to get this done would be greatly appreciated. I tried to render a partial as some of the other similar posts have said but still get the same error.
