• How to implement parent-child windows and pass values from child to parent?

  I am working on an ASP.NET MVC 2 application. In one of my data entry forms, I have an "employer" field which has a "search" link next to it. When a user clicks on this link, another window is opened with a search form. The user uses the search form to search for the correct employer. A list of employers is shown to the user. Currently, the user has to then copy and paste the correct employer from the child window into the original window. I want to implement it so that each employer search result in the child window is a hyperlink. The user would then click on the correct employer and then the correct employer value would be populated in the original parent window employer field. How would I go about implementing this in ASP.NET MVC 2?

• Binding Navigation Property with Entity Framework

  Hi, I have another question about binding using C# and the entity framework. Here, I'm looking to bind a navigation property to a listbox or a listview. I saw on different posts that if I update the collection using code behind the list would not be notified because the collection does not handle notification (it's always the same problem anyway). People suggested to use an ObservableCollection for example, but, and here is my question, this comes down to basically duplicate the collection and hence, if I modify it, I'd have to handle in code-behind the fact that the change has also to be applied to the "original" navigation property right? If that's the case, I was thinking: why not create a custom property called, say, MyObservableNavigationProperty in a partial class. I could then interact only with this collection, catch the event when the collection is changed and apply the change to the "original" collection. Is that a nice way to do the trick? or am I getting all confused here....

  Hi, i don't know about regular expressions, I asked here for one that: gets either anything up to the first parenthesis/colon or the first word inside the first parenthesis. This was the answer: preg_match('/(?:^[^(:]+|(?<=^\\()[^\\s)]+)/', $var, $match); I need an improvement, I need to get either anything up to the first parenthesis/colon/quotation marks or the first word inside the first parenthesis. • Can you create a "superset" target in Xcode ?

  For the purposes of unit testing I'd like to create an iPhone project target in Xcode that includes all of the release application files, plus some additional files containing code useful for UI unit testing. I can do this by duplicating the original application target; however, the problem with this is that every time I add a new source file to the app target, I need to also add it to the UnitTestUI target. It's not a big deal, just inconvenient to always remember to add files to both targets. Is there some way to set up a dependency so that every file added to the original app target is also auto added the unit test target?

• How can I make a core-plot graph on the phone that doesn't auto-expand to fill the whole superview

  I'm pretty sure I saw an example where the graph wasn't filling the whole iPhone screen, but I can't get that to happen in my app, nor in the Core-Plot Test app from Switch On The Code. I've added a subview to the original CPLayerHostingView in the sample, then changed the classes – original back to UIView, new subview to CPLayerHostingView, and I've reconnected the File's owner's view outlet to the new subview. When I create a graph with: graph = [[CPXYGraph alloc] initWithFrame: theSubviewOutlet.bounds]; … and step through the first stages of building up the layers the bounds are accurate (i.e. the same as in the .xib) however, when all the initialization is done, and the graph shows up, it fills the whole superview. Am I missing something obvious?

  The Silicon Labs CP210x chip allows the PID to be customized which in turn means a customized driver is needed to have a matching PID. On x64 systems that require driver signing using a customized driver would also require signing that driver. Fortunately it is possible to use the original signed CP210x driver by manually select it for the device as explained here. What I would like to know is if it is possible to use DPinst or some other method to automatically have the original signed CP210x driver selected for the device during install or when the CP210x device is plugged in?

• MonoRail - Clearing value on edit form submission doesn't trigger validation

  Hey, In a MonoRail app I have an add/edit view. On add if I don't pick a value for a dropdown I get a validation error and am forced to pick a value. However, if I then edit that same item and reset the dropdown back to the first item ("Select an Item", "0"), it saves and doesn't say it was invalid. Debugging the entity sent back to the server, I can see that it's sending the original value for the dropdown instead of the new value of "0". What's going on here? The first thing I would expect is that it would trigger the validation since the dropdown value isn't set. The second thing I would expect is that it would send the new value I send, not the original. It does send the new value if I change it to another value, but it's as if it has internal logic that says - "I'm updating this entity and a new value was not passed, just don't change the entity value." • Matlab: How to find the right-most point of a white line within the imrect?

  i've got a question regarding the imrect() function, which is part of the image processing toolbox in MatLab. I'd like to find a starting point within an image. I use the imrect function for setting a region to limit and specify the lookup area, but I can't get the point where the ROI mask is getting back mapped to the original size of the image. As you can see on the image there is a specified rectangle (cyan-colored), which I want to inspect for the white line, especially the nearest point to the right edge of the rectangle. I experimentated with only looking up on the last column of the rectangle, but as I mentioned before, the re-mapping onto the global image coordinates failed. So in this example, the white point I'd like to get would be around (98,302) The original (x,y) coordinates are relevant, so a cropping of the image to the rectangle is not acceptable.   I have an input text box for search of input, the id of the text box is: id="search". if a user enters 'cat' at first and hit search. In the function, I get the value 'cat' by using the syntax: var input = document.getElementById("search").value; After that, the user enter 'dog' in the search box and hit search using the same function. The function would assign 'dog' to the input variable. How would I compare the current value (dog) to the previously entered value (cat)? I have tried to assign the original input with a statement, something like var orig = input; but that would only overwrite the original input with the new input. What is the logical approach to this problem.

  (1) I have a site that serves up MP3 files: http://domain/files/1234567890.mp3 (2) I have a php script that tracks file download counts: http://domain/modules/download_counter.php?file=/files/1234567890.mp3 After download_counter.php records the download, it redirects to the original file: Header("Location: $FQDN_url"); (3) I'd like all my public links to be presented as the direct file urls from (1). I'm trying to use Apache to redirect the requests to download_counter.php: RewriteRule ^files/(.+\.mp3)$ /modules/download_counter.php?file=/files/$1 [L] I'm currently stuck on (3), as it results in a redirect loop, since download_counter.php simply redirects the request back to the original file (rather than streaming the file contents). I'm also motivated to use download_counter.php as is (without modifying it's redirect behaviour). This is because the script is part of a larger CMS module, and I'd like to avoid complicating my upgrade path. Perhaps there is no solution to my problem (other than modifying the download_counter script). WDYT?

• Downsampling the number of entries in a list (without interpolation)

  I have a Python list with a number of entries, which I need to downsample using either: A maximum number of rows. For example, limiting a list of 1234 entries to 1000. A proportion of the original rows. For example, making the list 1/3 its original length. (I need to be able to do both ways, but only one is used at a time). I believe that for the maximum number of rows I can just calculate the proportion needed and pass that to the proportional downsizer: def downsample_to_max(self, rows, max_rows): return downsample_to_proportion(rows, max_rows / float(len(rows))) ...so I really only need one downsampling function. Any hints, please? EDIT The list contains objects, not numeric values so I do not need to interpolate. Dropping objects is fine.

• Is it possible to write a database view that encompasses one-to-many relationships?

  So I'm not necessarily saying this is even a good idea if it were possible, since the schema of the view would be extremely volatile, but is there any way to represent a has-many relationship in a single view? For example, let's say I have a customer that can have any number of addresses in the database. Is there any way to list out each column of each address with perhaps a number as a part of the alias (e.g., columns like Customer Id, Name, Address_Street_1, Address_Street_2, etc)? Thanks!

• JQuery JEditable stay in edit mode on error

  I'm successfully using jeditable to submit via a function using jQuery.ajax and the async : false option , but am having an issue aborting if an error is returned. How can I get the edit box to stay activated and / or revert back to the original value if there are errors? I'm returning http status codes. so something like async : false .ajax submit here... if (xhr.status == 200) { return value; else { alert ('returned error'); // keep edit box activated but available for another try, or revert back to original value } I tried not returning a value from the function, which keeps the edit box activated and ready for another submit, but then the ESC key doesn't work anymore and if I click outside the edit area, the edit box stays. • Rebuilding an Opensource Iphone Project but got too many errors

  Downloaded an opensource sample Iphone project and when I compiled, everything is OK. This project has alot of C files. So, I try to rebuilding this project from scratch just to see if I can duplicate it. I make sure all the inlcudes files there, the path is correct, all the libraries there. I check original project settings and make sure if they have any specific search path and I need to follow. Anyway, I follow the exact settings but this time my duplicated project got some 1500 errors. alot of them generated from inside those C files. So, what's wrong? everyone got some tips on that why I got so many errors? I followed everything I follow from the original project.

• Delphi : Restore a pre-design tabsheet after user has closed it...

  Hello, I have a tPageControl on a form, and have made a nice 'welcome page' as a new ttabsheet at design time for the user to start off with. However, if the user closes this tab, I would like the option to bring it back, as it was in originally (much like the welcome page in the Delphi IDE). This seems like a simple problem... When the tab closes, the original sheet is freed and set nil. I tried creating the sheet again by name (e.g. tabsheet1 := ttabsheet.create) and assigning it to the pagecontrol, but none of the original components from the sheet are there anymore... I know designing the welcome page as a separate form, creating it when I need it and slapping it into a new tabsheet would work... but I was just wondering if there was a way to do it with the design time tabsheet.   The question is a little complex. The problem here is to get rid of duplicates and save the unique elements of array into another array with their original sequence. For example : If the input is entered b a c a d t The result should be : b a c d t in the exact state that the input entered. So, for sorting the array then checking couldn't work since I lost the original sequence. I was advised to use array of indices but I don't know how to do. So what is your advise to do that?
