    Hello all, I've got a vBoxLayout which contains 3 simple buttons, when I increase the size of the widget containing the layout, the spacing between the buttons increases. I would like to stop this behaviour and keep the buttons in a consistent and compact layout, regardless of the size of the parent widget.   • How to automatically email customers registration keys?

    I've written a bit of software that I'd like to share with others (a Mac Dashboard widget, specifically), but I'd also like to be compensated a bit for the time I spent on it. I've devised my own simple registration key algorithm, which takes a customer's email address and creates a 12-character alphanumeric key. The software itself is finished, demo limitations, key validation & all. I just need to get the keys to customers. How do I simply alert a key generation script to automatically email a customer a key, upon notification that they paid my account? Can I use PayPal IPN & JavaScript? The simplest solution will do - this is a five dollar widget. :)

  • SmartGWT Server File Browser

    Hi All: I have been looking for a SmartGWT example that would show me how to build a File Browser widget that takes the files from the local server's root directory. The user would be shown the files through the browser which they could then select to perform some processing operations. So far I have thought of using SmartGWT's Tree-Data Binding-Load from Local Data Widget and then grabbing a list of the directories using: new File("\").listFiles(); My Question is: Is there a better way to do this? Has someone already thought of this and has an example of their code that I can see? PS: I'm fairly new to GWT and Web Services but fairly competent with Java. If you believe there is a better way to do this (while still doing this through the web and not using Applets, please tell me). Thanks

  • Google Maps API v3... non-mobile?

    I'm trying to make a Google Maps widget for my website but all of the examples are for full-screen mobile devices. The tutorials work when I copy paste them exactly as shown but they don't seem to work when I want them to only occupy a portion of the page. From what I've read, the v3 is the best API yet (for what I need) because of its speed and compatibility with mobile devices. I plan to make a widget very similar to the MarkerClusterer example from the demo gallery but I can't get it working. Is this a common issue? I know I'm being vague but I would appreciate some help. I got some forms that I put into a dialog, so I got elements like <label for="name">ID user</label><input type="text" name="iduser" size="15" id="iduser" class="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" maxlength=12 /> But I got some textarea elements like <label for="name">Description</label><textarea name="description" id="description" class="text ui-widget-content ui-corner-all" value=""></textarea> The issue: textarea is not taking the css as inputs does, I mean, I got corner rounder textarea as input texts but the font size and font family don't.

  • What's a good icon to represent a legend or a key for a diagram?

    I'm implementing a small web app widget that shows a legend/key for a diagram (or chart/map/graph/whatever), but only during mouseover of the widget. It's basically just going to be a div with a background image. What would be a good icon that communicates "I show the legend" or "I am the legend" to the unfamiliar users? I'm looking for something in the 10x10 to 20x20 pixel range. Assuming that a legend is the same thing as a key (is it?) then I could use a small icon of a key (like you'd unlock a door with) but that seems cheesy or unclear at worst. I'm not sure that's really the clearest way to do it. Is there an icon that should instantly remind users of a legend?

The widget will analyse the remote webpage title and content, then it will return relevent articles/links on my website. The amount of traffic we expect will be very huge roughly 500K queries a day and up from there. I need the queries to be returned very quickly, so I need the candidate to be high performance, similar to google adsense. The remote title can be from 5 to 50 words and the description we will use no more then 3000 words. Which of these two do you think can handle the load.

    I have window that contains a table on screen, now I want to attach a widget to that table I use gtk_table_attach(GTK_TABLE(table), label, ...) the function is correct and it runs without any error but table does not respond to that line I mean there is no change on my table, I think I need something to tell that table update it self but how? note= that line is inside a callback of a signal and I am sure that signal runs note2= I do not want to destroy window for that note3= I use gtk+ and pygtk note4= I am sure I attach that widget to a correct position ( it is free)

    If I have two forms: class ContactForm(forms.Form): name = forms.CharField() message = forms.CharField(widget=forms.Textarea) class SocialForm(forms.Form): name = forms.CharField() message = forms.CharField(widget=forms.Textarea) and wanted to use a class based view, and send both forms to the template, is that even possible? class TestView(FormView): template_name = 'contact.html' form_class = ContactForm It seems the FormView can only accept one form at a time. There are tons of technical details what is behind the scene and I feel people enthusiasm with ability to customize widgets as never before. I remember those days when VCL library (Delphi) appeared and there was the same enthusiasm in VCL widgets area. Ability to create VCL controls was nearly the must when you was applying for a job as Delphi developer. This situation continued for several years till professional sophisticated 3'd party UI libraries appeared. Hardly you'll have to create your own VCL widget nowadays. Will WPF widgets enthusiasm die as VCL one?

    I am trying to display some rows from a database table based on choices submitted by the user. Two of my columns are called receipe name and ingredients(each field under ingredients can store a number of fruits). What I would like to do is, if a number of checkboxes are selected then the receipe name/s is displayed.   • Should I uniform different API calls to a single format before caching?

    The problem is that I am recreating the social media widget/icons on http://about.me/bluedaniel (thats me). Anyhow there can be up to 6 or 7 different API calls on the page and obviously I am caching them, at the moment with Memcached. The question is, as they arrive in various formats and sizes (fb-json, linkedin-xml, wordpress-rss etc), should I universally format/convert them before storing it in the cache. At present I have recreated the html widget and then stored that, but I worry about saving huge blocks of html in the cache as it doesn't seem that smart.

  • Creating controls in ASP with dynamic IDs

    Hi, I'm creating a chat widget that will be dropped into CommunityServer. The widget works great, but I just discovered that if I drop two of these widgets onto the same page, only one of them works! And I'm quite certain the reason is because the chat window is defined in ASP, and now there are two instances of the chat window, with the same ID, on the same page. I am doing this with straight ASP & Javascript (not by choice), so my chat window is defined as: <telerik:RadListBox ID="rlbMessages" runat="server" > (don't mind that it's a telerik control). So I was hoping I could do something like this: <telerik:RadListBox ID="<%= 'rlbMessages' + chatRoomID %>" runat="server" > But from what I've gathered, apparently you can't assign ID's this way? What is the alternative?

  • Django save_m2m() and excluded field

    hi, in a ModelForm I replaced a field by excluding it and adding a new one with the same name, as shown below in AddRestaurantForm. When saving the form with the code shown below, I get an error in form.save_m2m() ("Truncated incorrect DOUBLE value"), which seems to be due to the function to attempt to save the tag field, while it is excluded. Is the save_m2m() function supposed to save excluded fields? Is there anything wrong in my code?     I'm curious about people's opinion's and thoughts about this situation. The reason I'd like to lazy load javascript is because of performance. Loading javascript at the end of the body reduces the browser blocking and ends up with much faster page loads. But there is some automation I'm using to generate the html (django specifically). This automation has the convenience of allowing forms to be built with "Widgets" that output content it needs to render the entire widget (extra javascript, css, ...). The problem is that the widget wants to output javascript immediately into the middle of the document, but I want to ensure all javascript loads at the end of the body.   • Can an app delete its own internal resources?

    I am trying to find a way to delete an internal resource after an app installs. More specifically, I have a zip file included in the apk, that I unzip to the SD Card when the app is first run. But then want to delete the now unneeded zip file (the purpose being to save the user internal phone memory). I access the zip file with, Resources resources = this.getResources(); InputStream is = resources.openRawResource(R.raw.assets); But am uncertain how to then delete the resource (if even possible). I know one may ask why not simply install the app to SD Card at download. But the app includes a screen widget, and installing apps to the SD Card and using a screen widget is problematic.     I'm thinking about a system in which I allow users to create Javascript-empowered widgets for other users to embed in their dashboard on my website. I'd like to limit these widgets fairly strictly, so each would exist as an iframe kept on its own unique hostname: the widget with ID #47 would be accessible at w47.widgets.example.com, for example. It would be helpful, for permission-granting dialogs and the like, to allow the widget to call very specific methods explicitly granted by the parent window, without authorizing the iframe to do whatever it likes with the parent frame on the user's behalf. Is it possible for a parent document to explicitly allow certain method calls to a child document on a different host?
