  I read that with .NET Framework 4 the current garbage collection implementation is replaced: The .NET Framework 4 provides background garbage collection. This feature replaces concurrent garbage collection in previous versions and provides better performance. At this page there is an explanation how it works but I am not sure I understood it. In practical world application what is the benefit of this new GC implementation? Is it a feature that could be use to push for a transition from 3.5 or previous to 4.0?

  I have a few .Net projects that would benefit from using a document/object database opposed to a relational one. I think that db4o would be a good choice, but the $1200 commercial price tag is bit too much for us. I'd love to use MongoDb but it's design isn't for small scale, single server applications. Are there other options out there that I just haven't run across for small scale applications?

My question is, with all this confusion and problems, is there any benefit to JavaScript having both types of values for the built-in classes?

  I recently created a menu for a web page where buttons are DIV elements. I've been Googling around and see that many people create UL lists and each button is a LI element. What benefit is using an UL and LIs instead of just DIVs? Is it somehow better for SEO? Does this have to do with "semantic" markup? Any compelling reason to rewrite my menu as a UL?

  Is there a way (without buffering the whole Inputstream) to take the HttpServletRequest from a Java Servlet and write it out to a file using all NIO? Is it even worth trying? I am wondering if I have to use the find member method to get the benefit of a sorted container, or can I also use the static find method in the STL algorithms?   I seem to be missing something about LINQ. To me, it looks like it's taking some of the elements of SQL that I like the least and moving them into the C# language and using them for other things. I mean, I could see the benefit of using SQL-like statements on things other than databases. But if I wanted to write SQL, well, why not just write SQL and keep it out of C#? What am I missing here?

  I heard opinion that it make no sense to create indexes when field has less changeability. Eg if it stores only A,B,C,D values then there wouldn't be benefit of having such index, and further more SQL server will not use it at all when executing query. I wonder your opinion on that matter?
