• What's an elegant way to conditionally add a class to an HTML element in a view?

  I occasionally have to add a class to an html element based on a condition. The problem is I can't figure out a clean way of doing it. Here's an example of the stuff I've tried: <div <%= if @status = 'success'; "class='ok'"; end %>> some message here </div> OR <% if @status == 'success' %> <div class='success'> <% else %> <div> <% end %> some message here </div> I don't like the first approach because it's crowded looking and hard to read. I don't like the second approach because the nesting is screwed up. It'd be nice to put it in the model, (something like @status.css_class), but that doesn't belong there. What do most people do?

• is JsonP working with Opera, Chrome & Safari ?

  Hi, On a web site that I am building , when you log in (because the database is on an other server), I use json padding to check if the user as the right credentials. • jQuery Ajax works in Firefox, fails in IE when calling Controller action

• How to efficiently SELECT rows from database table based on selected set of values

  I have a transaction table of 1 million rows. The table has a field name "Code" to keep customer's ID. There are about 10,000 different customer code. I have an GUI interface allow user to render a report from transaction table. User may select arbitrary number of customers for rendering. I use IN operator first and it works for few customers: SELECT * FROM TRANS_TABLE WHERE CODE IN ('...', '...', '...') I quickly run into problem if I select few thousand customers. There is limitation using IN operator. An alternate way is create a temporary table with only one field of CODE, and inject selected customer codes into the temporary table using INSERT statement. I may then using SELECT A.* FROM TRANS_TABLE A INNER JOIN TEMP B ON (A.CODE=B.CODE) This works nice for huge selection. However, there is performance overhead for temporary table creation, INSERT injection and dropping of temporary table. Do you aware of better solution to handle this situation?

• Delphi Clientdataset Lookup/Aggregate

  Hi, I need a little help with ClientDatasets in Delphi. What I want to achieve is a grid showing customers, where one of the columns shows the number of orders for each customer. I put a ClientDataset on a form and load Customers.xml from Delphi demo-data. Another ClienDataset is loaded with orders.xml. Relatively simple, I can define an aggregate on the orders CDS showing the total amount per customer (or the count). (See Cary Jensens article on this: http://edn.embarcadero.com/article/29272) The problem is getting this aggregate result from orders dataset into the customer dataset. It is kind of an reverse lookup, since there is a 1-n relationship between customers and orders, not an n-1 as normally in lookup scenarios. Any ideas ? Søren

Three pieces: store procedure, table1, table2 Table 1 stores most recent data for specific IDs Customer_id status_dte status_cde app_dte 001 2010-04-19 Y 2010-04-19 Table 2 stores history of data for specific customer IDs: For example: Log_id customer_Id status_dte status_cde 01 001 2010-04-20 N 02 001 2010-04-19 Y 03 001 2010-04-19 N 04 001 2010-04-19 Y The stored proecure currently throws an error if the status date from table1 is < than app_date in table1. If @status_dte < app_date Error Note: @status_dte is a variable stored as the status_dte from table1 However, I want it to throw an error when the EARLIEST status_dte from table 2 with a status_cde of 'Y' is less than the app_dte column in table 1. Keep in mind that this earliest date is not stored anywhere, the history of data changes per customer. Another customer might have the following history. Log_id customer_Id status_dte status_cde 01 002 2010-04-20 N 02 002 2010-04-18 N 03 002 2010-04-19 Y 04 002 2010-04-19 Y Any ideas on how I can approach this?

I want to fetch array of values of a single column in a table, for example, I have a table named Customer(ID,Name), and want to fetch ids of all customers. my query in LINQ is: var ids = db.Customers.Select(c=>c.ID).ToList(); The answer of this query is correct, but I ran SQL Server Profiler, and saw the query which was like this: SELECT [t0].[ID], [t0].[Name] FROM [dbo].[Customer] AS [t0] I understood that LINQ selects all columns and then creates the integer array of ID fields. Alternatively (in view) i could iterate while displaying the content, so i ends up only accessing the database 2 times instead of 3 times. Any win win solution / best practice to this kind of problem ?

  I have developed an export file from our Job Management system that I want to be able to import into MYOB Accounting Plus v18.5. The file is generated without issue and I have included every single field to make it easy for upload (i.e. Match All matches every field) The problem I am having is no matter what I do, I cannot get the sales to import... Every time, no matter what I do or how I create the customer card comes back with: Error -190: Customer not found. Sale invoice not imported. I have tried matching using - co./Last Name, Card ID & Record ID and every time I get the same error. I have created a single customer with a simply Co./Last Name, Card ID & Record ID and still, when I try to import using these same fields exactly matched, I get the same error...

  I have problem understanding read consistency in db(oracle). Suppose I am manger of a bank . A customer has got lock (which I dont know) and is doing some updation. Now after he has got lock I am viewing account info of the same customer and try to do some thing on it.But because of read consistency I will see data as it existed before customer got the lock. So will not that affect inputs I am getting and the decisions that I am gonna make during that period?

  Is it possible to make a join in SQL server that joins each row from table A to n random rows in another? For example, say I have a Customer table, a Product table and an Order table. I want to join each customer to 5 random products and insert these rows into the order table. (And each customer should be joined to 5 random rows of his own, I don't want all customers joining to the same 5 rows). Is this possible? I'm using SQL Server 2005 and it's fine if the solution is specific to that. This is a weird requirement but I'm basically making a small data generator to generate some random data.

• stripe payment issue ruby on rails

  So I have made a stripe payment option in my app. When I click the button pay now, it shows me that the payment is successful. and when I go to my stripe account and go to stripe-test and check logs, I can see my test payment with the code 200 OK. But this payment doesn't show in stripe-test events, or in stripe-test payments.   Hi I'm developing a phonegap + JQueryMobile app, which should be correctly executed on Android, iOs and WindowsPhone as well. I need to exploit an external service wich requires one callback url to redirect the app to in case of success, and one in case of error (pretty common situation. In my case both will be local files, say www/success.html and www/error.html). Of course I could write different paths for each device (e.g. file:///android_asset/www/success.html on Android), but i'm wondering if the framework provide a more simple elegant solution. So the questions is, how can i get a unique absolute URL wich allows me to perform a cross-platform HTTP redirection from a remote web page to a local file within a phonegap application? Thanks

  If I have a Customers table linked to an Orders table, and I want to delete a customer and its corresponding orders, then I can do: dataContext.Orders.DeleteAllOnSubmit(customer.Orders); dataContext.Customers.DeleteOnSubmit(customer); ...which is great. However, what if I also have an OrderItems table, and I want to delete the order items for each of the orders deleted? I can see how I could use DeleteAllOnSubmit to cause the deletion of all the order items for a single order, but how can I do it for all the orders?

• JQuery response is null but actual response is not

• Using javascript to call controller methond in mvc

  Im trying to make a table row work as a link to another view in my mvc website. Instead of using the standard "Details" link provided by the auto generated table list, I would like to use the table row as a link to the "Details" view instead. So somehow I need to make the row work as a link. Each rom has a unique id that I need to pass on to the controller method. I have tried different solutions but noting happens when I press on the table row... • why does $.ajax(..) not work for me?

  I'm running jquery from a file. And I'm trying to load a svg file from my localhost to populate a svg canvas. However that does not work as expected. What I do from filesystem: $.ajax({ url: url , timeout: 1000, complete: function(xml) { alert('complete'); }, success: function(xml, status, xreq) { alert('success'); }, error: function() { alert('error'); } }); the url reads: http://localhost/image.svg, when I read this url directly from an addressbar from the browser, the pages remains white but the pagesource displays the source of image.svg. Debugging the $.ajax code above, reveals that the success: method is hit, but xml response remains empty. Any help is greatly appreciated. regards, jeroen.

  Hi, I have a form changeed the properties of my object CUSTOMER. Each customer has related ORDERS. The ORDER's table has a column customer_id which is used for the mapping. All works so far, I can read customers without any problem. When I now e.g. change the name of the CUSTOMER in the form (which does NOT show the orders), after saving the name is updated, but all relations in the ORDERS table are set to NULL (the customer_id for the items is set to NULL. How can I keep the relationship working? THX

  I have some data of an excel file below. At first, I figured that reading from the file could be done using the Excel Library then using an OLEDB connection. I managed to get the DocumentNo column data with the OLEDB approach. However, when the excel file is closed, I am unable to do the operation because it gives an error that "External table is not in the expected format."
