  • Save/Load jFreechart TimeSeriesCollection chart from XML

    - by IMAnis_tn
    I'm working with this exemple wich put rondom dynamic data into a TimeSeriesCollection chart. My problem is that i can't find how to : 1- Make a track of the old data (of the last hour) when they pass the left boundary (because the data point move from the right to the left ) of the view area just by implementing a horizontal scroll bar. 2- Is XML a good choice to save my data into when i want to have all the history of the data? public class DynamicDataDemo extends ApplicationFrame { /** The time series data. */ private TimeSeries series; /** The most recent value added. */ private double lastValue = 100.0; public DynamicDataDemo(final String title) { super(title); this.series = new TimeSeries("Random Data", Millisecond.class); final TimeSeriesCollection dataset = new TimeSeriesCollection(this.series); final JFreeChart chart = createChart(dataset); final ChartPanel chartPanel = new ChartPanel(chart); final JPanel content = new JPanel(new BorderLayout()); content.add(chartPanel); chartPanel.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(500, 270)); setContentPane(content); } private JFreeChart createChart(final XYDataset dataset) { final JFreeChart result = ChartFactory.createTimeSeriesChart( "Dynamic Data Demo", "Time", "Value", dataset, true, true, false ); final XYPlot plot = result.getXYPlot(); ValueAxis axis = plot.getDomainAxis(); axis.setAutoRange(true); axis.setFixedAutoRange(60000.0); // 60 seconds axis = plot.getRangeAxis(); axis.setRange(0.0, 200.0); return result; } public void go() { final double factor = 0.90 + 0.2 * Math.random(); this.lastValue = this.lastValue * factor; final Millisecond now = new Millisecond(); System.out.println("Now = " + now.toString()); this.series.add(new Millisecond(), this.lastValue); } public static void main(final String[] args) throws InterruptedException { final DynamicDataDemo demo = new DynamicDataDemo("Dynamic Data Demo"); demo.pack(); RefineryUtilities.centerFrameOnScreen(demo); demo.setVisible(true); while(true){ demo.go(); Thread.currentThread().sleep(1000); } } }

  • What are common uses of condition variables in C++?

    - by jasonline
    I'm trying to learn about condition variables. I would like to know what are the common situations where condition variables are used. One example is in a blocking queue, where two threads access the queue - the producer thread pushes an item into the queue, while the consumer thread pops an item from the queue. If the queue is empty, the consumer thread is waiting until a signal is sent by the producer thread. What are other design situations where you need a condition variable to be used?

  • Select a Column Dynamically using LINQ?

    - by vsj
    Hi all I am trying to do a very simple dynamic query which will select a column dynamically I mean the selection of column would depend upon another query so I would select x col if cond1 and y if cond2 so I tried using query.Select(colname) using the extension method also tried using Func< but I am not sure how to go about this I have read about dynamic extension for linq and also reflection but woth reflection to the GetValue function does not return value for my column in database. please help me out I am jus trying to select a column dynamically at runtime and no condtions really on it.

  • How to dynamically add a Javascript function (and invoke)

    - by whitey
    Based on a click event on the page, via ajax I fetch a block of html and script, I am able to take the script element and append it to the head element, however WebKit based browsers are not treating it as script (ie. I cannot invoke a function declared in the appended script). Using the Chrome Developer Tools I can see that my script node is indeed there, but it shows up differently then a script block that is not added dynamically, a non-dynamic script has a text child element and I cannot figure out a way to duplicate this for the dynamic script. Any ideas or better ways to be doing this? The driving force is there is potentially a lot of html and script that would never be needed unless a user clicks on a particular tab, in which case the relevant content (and script) would be loaded. Thanks!

  • Accessing facebook sdk result Object using .NET 3.5 API?

    - by John K
    Consider the following in .NET 3.5 (using the Bin\Net35\Facebook*.dll assemblies): using Facebook; var app = new FacebookApp(); var result = app.Get("me"); // want to access result properties with no dynamic ... in the absence of the C# 4.0 dynamic keyword this provides only generic object members. How best should I access the facebook properties of this result object? Are there helper or utility methods or stronger types in the facebook C# SDK, or should I use standard .NET reflection techniques?

  • looping through object property names in actionscript

    I have a dynamic class that I have created public dynamic class SiteZoneFileUploadVO { public var destination:String = "sitezone"; public var siteZoneId:uint; public var fileType:String; public var fileContents:String; public function SiteZoneFileUploadVO() { } } when I try to iterate over this object's property names it only iterates the dynamically added properties. parameters.dynVar= "value"; for(var name:String in parameters) { trace(name); } Even though the object has all the properties equal to a value (ive checked this in the debugger) the only property name that will be traced is dynVar. How can I iterate over all the property names and not just the dynamically added ones?

  • NSString variable out of scope in sub-class (iPhone/Obj-C)

    - by Rich
    I am following along with an example in a book with the code exactly as it is in the example code as well as from the book, and I'm getting an error at runtime. I'll try to describe the life cycle of this variable as good as I can. I have a controller class with a nested array that is populated with string literals (NSArray of NSArrays, the nested NSArrays initialized with arrayWithObjects: where the objects are all string literals - @"some string"). I access these strings with a helper method added via a category on NSArray (to pull strings out of a nested array). My controller gets a reference to this string and assigns it to a NSString property on a child controller using dot notation. The code looks like this (nestedObjectAtIndexPath is my helper method): NSString *rowKey = [rowKeys nestedObjectAtIndexPath:indexPath]; controller.keypath = rowKey; keypath is a synthesized nonatomic, retain property defined in a based class. When I hit a breakpoint in the controller at the above code, the NSString's value is as expected. When I hit the next breakpoint inside the child controller, the object id of the keypath property is the same as before, but instead of showing me the value of the NSString, XCode says that the variable is "out of scope" which is also the error I see in the console. This also happens in another sub-class of the same parent. I tried googling, and I saw slightly similar cases where people were suggesting this had to do with retain counts. I was under the impression that by using dot notation on a synthesized property, my class would be using an "auto generated accessor" that would be increasing my retain count for me so that I wouldn't have this problem. Could there be any implications because I'm accessing it in a sub-class and the prop is defined in the parent? I don't see anything in the book's errata about this, but the book is relatively new (Apress - More iPhone 3 Dev). I also have double checked that my code matches the example 100 times.

  • dynamic GridView in CreateChildControls throws a "RegisterRequiresControlState can only be called be

    - by tbischel
    I am trying to add a GridView dynamically to a SharePoint Web Part. Right now, the first time I load the gridview, everything works fine. My gridview has an edit column enabled... so when I click that, it throws an exception when I try and add the gridview control on the postback. The exception: "RegisterRequiresControlState can only be called before and during PreRender" I've tried adding my controls in the CreateChildControls function, the OnInit, OnPageLoad, and OnPreRender... all exhibit the same problem. Does anyone know what might cause this kind of error? Edit: So to test this problem, I created a local GridView in the webpart, recreating all the properties in the one that failed. It actually worked this time through... the only difference that I could identify was that I had made the gridview a static variable in another class, where as here I initiated the gridview as a local variable. I even used the same initializing function for both the original and modified version, same difference. So why would creating a GridView locally affect the ability to add it to a web part?

  • jQuery Ajax call - Set variable value on success.

    - by Nathan
    Hey all, I have an application that I am writing that modifies data on a cached object in the server. The modifications are performed through an ajax call that basically updates properties of that object. When the user is done working, I have a basic 'Save Changes' button that allows them to Save the data and flush the cached object. In order to protect the user, I want to warn them if the try to navigate away from the page when modifications have been made to the server object if they have not saved. So, I created a web service method called IsInitialized that will return true or false based on whether or not changes have been saved. If they have not been saved, I want to prompt the user and give them a chance to cancel their navigation request. Here's my problem - although I have the calls working correctly, I can't seem to get the ajax success call to set the variable value on its callback function. Here's the code I have now. ////Catches the users to keep them from navigation off the page w/o saved changes... window.onbeforeunload = CheckSaveStatus; var IsInitialized; function CheckSaveStatus() { var temp = $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "URL.asmx/CheckIfInstanceIsInitilized", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(result) { IsInitialized = result.d; }, error: function(xmlHttpRequest, status, err) { alert(xmlHttpRequest.statusText + " " + xmlHttpRequest.status + " : " + xmlHttpRequest.responseText); } }); if (IsInitialized) { return "You currently have unprocessed changes for this Simulation."; } } I feel that I might be trying to use the Success callback in an inappropriate manner. How do I set a javascript variable on the Success callback so that I can decide whether or not the user should be prompted w/ the unsaved changes message? As was just pointed out, I am making an asynchronous call, which means the rest of the code gets called before my method returns. Is there a way to use that ajax call, but still catch the window.onunload event? (without making synchronos ajax)

  • Get Classic ASP variable from posted JSON

    - by Will
    I'm trying to post JSON via AJAX to a Classic ASP page, which retrieves the value, checks a database and returns JSON to the original page. I can post JSON via AJAX I can return JSON from ASP I can't retrieve the posted JSON into an ASP variable POST you use Request.Form, GET you use Request.Querystring......... what do I use for JSON? I have JSON libraries but they only show creating a string in the ASP script and then parsing that. I need to parse JSON from when being passed an external variable. Javascipt var thing = $(this).val(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: '/ajax/check_username.asp', data: "{'userName':'" + thing + "'}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", cache: false, async: false, success: function() { alert('success'); }); ASP file (check_username.asp) Response.ContentType = "application/json" sEmail = request.form() -- THE PROBLEM Set oRS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset") SQL = "SELECT SYSUserID FROM dbo.t_SYS_User WHERE Username='"&sEmail&"'" oRS.Open SQL, oConn if not oRS.EOF then sStatus = (new JSON).toJSON("username", true, false) else sStatus = (new JSON).toJSON("username", false, false) end if response.write sStatus

  • Resharper Live Template Macro that changes variable name upon exit

    - by Luhmann
    I would like to create a Resharper Live Template that changes all spaces to underscores ind my "fact" Live template variable $testname$: <Fact()> _ Public Sub $testnames$() ' Arrange $END$ ' Act ' Assert End Sub I have this: [Macro("applyRegex", ShortDescription = "Run on {#0:variable}", LongDescription = "")] class ApplyRegexMacro : IMacro { public string EvaluateQuickResult(IHotspotContext context, IList<string> arguments) { return Regex.Replace(arguments[0], " ", "_", RegexOptions.IgnoreCase); } public HotspotItems GetLookupItems(IHotspotContext context, IList<string> arguments) { return null; } public string GetPlaceholder() { return "placeholder"; } public bool HandleExpansion(IHotspotContext context, IList<string> arguments) { return false; } public ParameterInfo[] Parameters { get { return new[] { new ParameterInfo(ParameterType.String), new ParameterInfo(ParameterType.String), new ParameterInfo(ParameterType.VariableReference) }; } } } But this only runs when i press tab. I want the macro to run after I tab out of $testname$. I want to be able to just write the test name in a single line of text with spaces, and then the Macro turns all the spaces into underscores. Is this possible?

  • Variable number of two-dimensional arrays into one big array

    - by qlb
    I have a variable number of two-dimensional arrays. The first dimension is variable, the second dimension is constant. i.e.: Object[][] array0 = { {"tim", "sanchez", 34, 175.5, "bla", "blub", "[email protected]"}, {"alice", "smith", 42, 160.0, "la", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... }; Object[][] array1 = { {"john", "sdfs", 34, 15.5, "a", "bl", "[email protected]"}, {"joe", "smith", 42, 16.0, "a", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... }; ... Object[][] arrayi = ... I'm generating these arrays with a for-loop: for (int i = 0; i < filter.length; i++) { MyClass c = new MyClass(filter[i]); //data = c.getData(); } Where "filter" is another array which is filled with information that tells "MyClass" how to fill the arrays. "getData()" gives back one of the i number of arrays. Now I just need to have everything in one big two dimensional array. i.e.: Object[][] arrayComplete = { {"tim", "sanchez", 34, 175.5, "bla", "blub", "[email protected]"}, {"alice", "smith", 42, 160.0, "la", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... {"john", "sdfs", 34, 15.5, "a", "bl", "[email protected]"}, {"joe", "smith", 42, 16.0, "a", "bub", "[email protected]"}, ... ... }; In the end, I need a 2D array to feed my Swing TableModel. Any idea on how to accomplish this? It's blowing my mind right now.

  • UDK SettingsScene variable

    - by Ricket
    I am in the process of porting a script from UT3 to UDK. The script is for class ZOUIFrontEnd_MainMenu extends UTUIFrontEnd_MainMenu. I'm getting the following compiler error: C:\UDK\UDK-2010-03\Development\Src\FixIt\Classes\ZOUIFrontEnd_MainMenu.uc(18) : Error, Bad or missing expression in Call to 'OpenSceneByName', parameter 1 The referenced line is as follows: OpenSceneByName(SettingsScene); Okay, so I figured the OpenSceneByName function changed in UDK. Tracing the path of inheritance all the way up to UDKUIScene.uc, I found the definition: function UIScene OpenSceneByName(string SceneToOpen, bool bSkipAnimation=false, optional delegate<OnSceneActivated> SceneDelegate=None) Assuming SettingsScene is a string, everything looks fine, right? So I figured I would find SettingsScene to make sure it's a string. Well doing a search for "SettingsScene" in all files turned up only one other line; UTGameReplicationInfo.uc line 334: UTPC.OpenUIScene(class'UTUIFrontEnd_MainMenu'.default.SettingsScene); But UTUIFrontEnd_MainMenu doesn't have a SettingsScene variable in it! Just to check, I changed my line of code to match: OpenSceneByName(class'UTUIFrontEnd_MainMenu'.default.SettingsScene); And indeed, I get the following compile error now: C:\UDK\UDK-2010-03\Development\Src\FixIt\Classes\ZOUIFrontEnd_MainMenu.uc(18) : Error, Unknown Property 'SettingsScene' in 'Class UTGame.UTUIFrontEnd_MainMenu' How does UTGameReplicationInfo.uc successfully compile? Where is the SettingsScene variable?

  • Load dll's from Environment Variable Path from a service

    - by Paulo Manuel Santos
    We install Matlab Runtime on a machine, then we restart a .net windows service that invokes methods from the Matlab Runtime. The problem is that we receive TypeInitializationException errors until we restart windows. We think this happens because Environment Variables are not changed on services until restart and Matlab uses the %Path% variable to reference it's core DLL's. My question is, do you think I can change the %Path% variable so that Matlab will use it when referencing the core dll's for it's engine? Or is it possible to add a directory to the runtime DLL loading mechanism of .NET so that those Matlab core dll's would be referenced correctly without restarting the machine? Here is the exception we get System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'MatlabCalculation.Calculation' threw an exception. ---> System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'MathWorks.MATLAB.NET.Utility.MWMCR' threw an exception. ---> System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'mclmcrrt710.dll': Kan opgegeven module niet vinden. • Environment variable in xcconfig won't expand in Settings.bundle/Root.plist

    - by AO
    I have defined my own environment variable in a .xcconfig file and based my configurations on that as described at http://www.silverchairsolutions.com/blog/2008/03/automating-cocoa-deployments-with-sparkle-and-xcode. My environment variable is indeed expanded in Info.plist but not in my Settings.bundle/Root.plist. Why won't it expand there? Root.plist looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Title</key> <string>${PRODUCT_NAME}</string> <key>PreferenceSpecifiers</key> <array> <dict> <key>DefaultValue</key> <string>${PRODUCT_NAME}</string> <key>Key</key> <string>version</string> <key>Title</key> <string>Version</string> <key>Type</key> <string>PSTitleValueSpecifier</string> </dict> <dict> <key>DefaultValue</key> <string></string> <key>Key</key> <string>atc</string> <key>Title</key> <string>ATC</string> <key>Type</key> <string>PSTitleValueSpecifier</string> </dict> </array>

  • Instantiate type variable in Haskell

    - by danportin
    EDIT: Solved. I was unware that enabling a language extension in the source file did not enable the language extension in GHCi. The solution was to :set FlexibleContexts in GHCi. I recently discovered that type declarations in classes and instances in Haskell are Horn clauses. So I encoded the arithmetic operations from The Art of Prolog, Chapter 3, into Haskell. For instance: fac(0,s(0)). fac(s(N),F) :- fac(N,X), mult(s(N),X,F). class Fac x y | x -> y instance Fac Z (S Z) instance (Fac n x, Mult (S n) x f) => Fac (S n) f pow(s(X),0,0) :- nat(X). pow(0,s(X),s(0)) :- nat(X). pow(s(N),X,Y) :- pow(N,X,Z), mult(Z,X,Y). class Pow x y z | x y -> z instance (N n) => Pow (S n) Z Z instance (N n) => Pow Z (S n) (S Z) instance (Pow n x z, Mult z x y) => Pow (S n) x y In Prolog, values are insantiated for (logic) variable in a proof. However, I don't understand how to instantiate type variables in Haskell. That is, I don't understand what the Haskell equivalent of a Prolog query ?-f(X1,X2,...,Xn) is. I assume that :t undefined :: (f x1 x2 ... xn) => xi would cause Haskell to instantiate xi, but this gives a Non type-variable argument in the constraint error, even with FlexibleContexts enabled.

  • Cannot find symbol - variable

    - by Ben Garside
    I'm new to Java, and I'm trying to get user input, store each line of input as a variable and then return each value so that it can be passed on somewhere else. When I try and compile it is telling me that it can't find the variable magnitude. I'm assuming it won't find the others either. I'm guessing that this is because I've declare the variables inside of the "try" but don't know how to get it so that the return statement accepts them. Code is as follows: public Earthquake userAddEarthquake() { Scanner scanner = new Scanner(System.in); try{ // convert the string read from the scanner into Integer type System.out.println("Please Enter An Earthquake Magnitude: "); Double magnitude = Double.parseDouble(scanner.nextLine()); System.out.println("Please Enter The Earthquakes Latitude Position: "); scanner = new Scanner(System.in); Double positionLatitude = Double.parseDouble(scanner.nextLine()); System.out.print("Please Enter The Earthquakes Longitude Position: "); scanner = new Scanner(System.in); Double positionLongitude = Double.parseDouble(scanner.nextLine()); System.out.print("Please Enter The Year That The Earthquake Occured: "); scanner = new Scanner(System.in); int year = Integer.parseInt(scanner.nextLine()); System.out.println("Magnitude = " + magnitude); } catch(NumberFormatException ne){ System.out.println("Invalid Input"); } finally{ scanner.close(); } return new Earthquake(magnitude, positionLatitude, positionLongitude, year); }

  • "Ambigous type variable" error when defining custom "read" function

    While trying to compile the following code, which is enhanced version of read build on readMay from Safe package. readI :: (Typeable a, Read a) => String -> a readI str = case readMay str of Just x -> x Nothing -> error ("Prelude.read failed, expected type: " ++ (show (typeOf > (undefined :: a))) ++ "String was: " ++ str) I get an error from GHC: WavefrontSimple.hs:54:81: Ambiguous type variable `a' in the constraint: `Typeable a' arising from a use of `typeOf' at src/WavefrontSimple.hs:54:81-103 Probable fix: add a type signature that fixes these type variable(s)` I don't understand why. What should be fixed to get what I meant? EDIT: Ok, so the solution to use ScopedTypeVariables and forall a in type signature works. But why the following produces very similar error to the one above? The compiler should infer the right type since there is asTypeOf :: a -> a -> a used. readI :: (Typeable a, Read a) => String -> a readI str = let xx = undefined in case readMay str of Just x -> x `asTypeOf` xx Nothing -> error ("Prelude.read failed, expected type: " ++ (show (typeOf xx)) ++ "String was: " ++ str)

  • Multiple dynamic timers

    - by Rickard
    I am working on a project where I need to let the user create one (or more) timers to fire off an event. The user is supposed to define variables such as if the timer should be active and how often the timer will fire along with some other variables of what will happen when the timer is fiering. All these variables are stored in a dictionary (Disctionary) where the object holds all the variables the user has set and the string is the name that the user has chosen for this timer. I then want my program to loop through this dictionary and search for all objects which has the variable t_Active set to true (this I have already achieved). What I need help with figuring out is the follwoing: When it detects the variable, and if it's set to true, I need the program to see if there is already a timer created for this. If it isn't, it should create one and set the relevant parameters for the timer. The two variables t_num and t_period should decide the interval of the timer. t_num is an int and t_period is a string which will be set to either minutes, hours or days. Combining t_num with 60000 (minutes), 3600000 (hours) or 86400000 should give the corrct interval. But how would I go on about programatically create a timer for each user-defined active object? And how do I get the program to detect wether or not a timer has already been created? I have been searching both here and on google, but so far I haven't come across something that makes sense to me. I am still learning C#, so what make sense to you guys may not neccessarilly make sense to me yet. :) I hope I have explaned what I need good enough, please do ask me to clarify if you don't get me. Edit: Maybe I should also mention that the mentioned dictionary will also be saved to an XML file to that the user can pick up all the settings they made at any time.

  • javascript scope problem when lambda function refers to a variable in enclosing loop

    - by Stefan Blixt
    First question on stackoverflow :) Hope I won't embarrass myself... I have a javascript function that loads a list of albums and then it creates a list item for each album. The list item should be clickable, so I call jQuery's click() with a function that does stuff. I do this in a loop. My problem is that all items seem to get the same click function, even though I try to make a new one that does different stuff in each iteration. Another possibility is that the iteration variable is global somehow, and the function refers to it. Code below. debug() is just an encapsulation of Firebug's console.debug(). function processAlbumList(data, c) { for (var album in data) { var newAlbum = $('<li class="albumLoader">' + data[album].title + '</li>').clone(); var clickAlbum = function() { debug("contents: " + album); }; debug("Album: " + album + "/" + data[album].title); $('.albumlist').append(newAlbum); $(newAlbum).click(clickAlbum); } } Here is a transcript of what it prints when the above function runs, after that are some debug lines caused by me clicking on different items. It always prints "10", which is the last value that the album variable takes (there are 10 albums). Album: 0/Live on radio.electro-music.com Album: 1/Doodles Album: 2/Misc Stuff Album: 3/Drawer Collection Album: 4/Misc Electronic Stuff Album: 5/Odds & Ends Album: 6/Tumbler Album: 7/Bakelit 32 Album: 8/Film Album: 9/Bakelit Album: 10/Slow Zoom/Atomic Heart contents: 10 contents: 10 contents: 10 contents: 10 contents: 10 Any ideas? • JPanel.addComponentListener does not work when the listener is a class variable

    - by Coder
    I have a public class which has the following method and instance variable: public void setImagePanel(JPanel value) { imagePanel = value; if (imagePanel != null) { //method 1 : works imagePanel.addComponentListener(new ComponentAdapter() { public void componentResized(ComponentEvent evt) { System.out.println("Here 1"); } }); //method 2 : does not work panelResizeListener = new ResizeListener(); imagePanel.addComponentListener(panelResizeListener); //method 3 : works //ResizeListener listener = new ResizeListener(); //imagePanel.addComponentListener(listener); //method 4 : works //imagePanel.addComponentListener(new ResizeListener()); //method 5 : does not work -- THIS IS THE DESIRED CODE I WANT TO USE imagePanel.addComponentListener(panelResizeListener); } } public class ResizeListener extends ComponentAdapter { @Override public void componentResized(ComponentEvent evt) { System.out.println("RESIZE 3"); } } private ResizeListener panelResizeListener = new ResizeListener(); Each of the methods above correspond the to code immediately below until the next //method comment. What i don't understand is why i can't use the class instance variable and add that to the JPanel as a component listener. What happens in the cases above where i say that the method does not work is that i don't get the "RESIZE 3" log messages. In all cases where i list that it works, then i get the "RESIZE 3" messages. The outer class is public with no other modification except that it implements an interface that i created (which has no methods or variables in common with the methods and variables listed above). If anyone can help me i would greatly appreciate it. This problem makes no sense to me, the code should be identical.

  • SQL query in JSP file pulling variable from VXML file

    - by s1066
    Hi I'm trying to get an SQL query to work within a JSP file. The JSP file is pulled by a VXML file here is my JSP file code: <?xml version="1.0"?> <%@ page import="java.util.*" %> <%@ page import="java.sql.*" %> <% boolean success = true; // Always optimistic String info = ""; String schoolname = request.getParameter("schoolname"); String informationtype = request.getParameter("informationtype"); try { Class.forName("org.postgresql.Driver"); String connectString = "jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5435/N0176359"; String user = "****"; String password = "*****"; Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(connectString, user, password); Statement st = conn.createStatement(); ResultSet rsvp = st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM lincolnshire_school_information_new WHERE school_name=\'"+schoolname+"\'"); rsvp.next(); info = rsvp.getString(2); }catch (ClassNotFoundException e) { success = false; // something went wrong } %> As you can see I'm trying to insert the value of the variable declared as "schooname" into the end of the SQL query. However when I come to run the jsp file it doesn't work and I get an error "ResultSet not positioned properly". When I put a standard query in (without trying to make it value of the variable it works fine) Hope that makes sense, and thank you for any help!
