  • Visual Studio 2008 closes unexpectedly

    - by Jose
I don't know if I can really get an answer to this question, but it really irks me and I would like to know if someone has an idea how to arrive to an answer. I have a pretty large solution in VS 2008 that maybe every week/every other week whenever I click properties to get to the project properties the IDE closes without warning. After that happens it will close EVERY time I try and view the properties. At that point I try and delete the .suo file, I resize the IDE, I close the tabs within the project, I restore default VS Settings(when I'm desperate). Eventually 20-30 minutes later I can actually view the properties. I haven't figured out exactly what fixes it, seems to be different every time. Once it's "fixed" I can't break it again so I can figure out what "fixed" it. This seems to be project specific, because I can view properties of other projects while this project is misbehaving. I guess my first question is, does VS log reasons for closing unexpectedly? Can I find out what the offending reason behind this is? The main frustration is I don't know that cause, nor the cure. Any ideas?

  • Core Data Change property value when another property changes

    - by user320587
Hi, I have a Core Data Entity which has three properties startDate, endDate and duration. All three properties are persistent properties. I would like to know how I can calculate and update the duration property whenever the value for startDate and endDate changes? BTW, I won't be able to make the duration as transient property since I have to use the property for sorting in my table view? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks, Javid

  • intiating lists in the constructor's initialization list

    - by bks
i just moved from C to C++, and now work with lists. i have a class called "message", and i need to have a class called "line", which should have a list of messages in its properties. as i learned, the object's properties should be initialized in the constructor's initialization list, and i had the "urge" to initialize the messages list in addition to the rest of the properties (some strings and doubles). is that "urge" justified? does the list need to be initialized? thank you in advance

  • C# How to create various objects at runtime that can hold strongly typed data?

    - by JL
Is it possible to create objects at runtime without having to have hard coded class definitions, then populate properties with primitives or even strongly typed data types? For example: Lets say I want to an XML config file that could hold configuration values for connecting to various systems in an SOA application. In C# I read in these values, but for each system the properties are different (e.g: SQL might have a connection string, while SharePoint might need a username + password + domain + url, while yet an smtp server would need username + password + port + url) So instead of creating static classes as follows public class SharePointConfiguration or public class SQLConfiguration, then have each class with custom properties (this is cumbersome) Is there not a more preferred way to achieve this, without using 1990's methods, in otherwords it would still be nice to have intellisense and code completion and named properties. Since this collection of properties (object) would be passed within the class and possible to other classes from function to function I am also wondering where this class definition would get defined if its all happening at run time. Any recommendations, and hope the question was clear enough. Would like to use language features, not hacks. Thank you.

  • Cannot bind to list<T>.property or list<T>.item.property in details section of Telerik report

    - by fluf
I have created a Telerik report and I am setting the datasource on runtime to an object with some properties and a List. I am using the properties in the page and report header sections and i want to use the list as the details. Now the problem is binding to the List's item properties in the details section. I have played around with the expression builder and it seems that i should access the properties like this : [=Fields.myList.Item.myProperty] when i run the program i get a nice big red rectangle with the following error : An error has occured while processing TextBox 'textBox28':Common Language Runtime detected an invalid program. I have tried to change different variants of expression which also gives me other errors [=Fields.myList.myPropery] An error has occured while processing TextBox 'textBox28': The expression contains object 'myProperty' that is not defined in the current context. The closest i have gotton was with the object it self, which outputs the object.toString() [=Fields.myList]

I am new to maven. I have written build scripts using ant. I am trying to display all the evn properties, user defined properties, system properties etc. in maven. In ant i could do the following . I tried to do the same with maven with the maven-antrun-plugin But get the following error. Embedded error: Could not create task or type of type: echoproperties. Ant could not find the task or a class this task relies upon. How can i see all properties in maven with or without using echoproperties. This is my configuration in maven <plugin> <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId> <artifactId>maven-antrun-plugin</artifactId> <version>${maven.plugin.antrun.version}</version> <executions> <execution> <phase>validate</phase> <goals> <goal>run</goal> </goals> <configuration> <tasks> <echo>Displaying value of properties</echo> <echo>[org.junit.version] ${org.junit.version}</echo> <echoproperties prefix="org" /> </tasks> </configuration> </execution> </executions> </plugin>

  • A gridview for debugging collections?

    - by Llewellyn
Hi Guys, I'm working with fairly large generic collections and I need a quick way to view all the items and their properties in these collections while debugging. When I say view all the items, I mean I would like to view the collection as if it was bound to say.. a gridview. That was I could see all all the item properties listed. Currently VS2010 displays the collection object during debugging, but it takes several clicks before I can view any item's properties within the collection. As I'm using collection with 50 to 100 items in them, I've having a hard time getting a feel for the collection data because of having to click through to view each individual item's properties during debugging. Do you have any ideas or know of a visual studio plugin that can help display collections in a table format or gridview format? Thanks for you time

  • Get all descendants types of base class

    - by user1260827
I have a base class called BaseEvent and several descendants classes: public class BaseEvent { // the some properties ... } [MapInheritance(MapInheritanceType.ParentTable)] public class Film : BaseEvent { // the some properties ... } [MapInheritance(MapInheritanceType.ParentTable)] public class Concert : BaseEvent { // the some properties ... } I have a code which create the BaseEvent instance at runtime: BaseEvent event = new BaseEvent(); //assign values for a properties ... baseEvent.XPObjectType = Database.XPObjectTypes.SingleOrDefault(t => t.TypeName == "MyApp.Module.BO.Events.BaseEvent"); Now, this event will be shows in BaseEvent list view. I want to do the following: when a user click Edit button then show in list view lookup field with all descendants types. And when user saves record change ObjectType to selected value. How can I do this? Thanks. PS. this is asp.net app.

  • Configuring log4j at runtime

    - by Neil
I'm using org.apache.tools.ant.listener.Log4jListener to manage logging with my ant script. The ant script is highly configurable and designed to be run different ways with different parameters and therefore I need to be able to log to files specified at runtime. I have a log4j.properties which specifies a log file to be build.log, and despite my attempts to launch ant redefining properties defined in log4j.properties have been unsuccessful. The build ignores them and continues to write to build.log. I haven't found much support regarding writing to custom files unless it's in Java with their Logger class. Perhaps I'm thinking this through wrong. log4j.properties isn't treated in the same way as a property file in an ant script (hence overrideable from the command line)? Is there a way I can do this intelligently without writing a custom task or something?

  • Help in setting the setClientInfo with JPA

    - by enrique
i am trying to set to jpa the new JDBC method which allows the application to be identified with a name it is the setClientInfo() and i could do it using pure JDBC using the lines Properties jdbcProperties = new Properties(); jdbcProperties.put("user", "system"); jdbcProperties.put("password", "sw01"); jdbcProperties.put("v$session.program", "Clients"); Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, jdbcProperties); However i have new requirements and i need to make it with JPA EclipseLink i have been googling and could not find something substantial on how to set this property out in JPA i guess it is by annotating something but i do not know what, i was trying to setting the persistence unit by putting the following in the persistence unit: <properties> <property name="toplink.ddl-generation" value="create-tables"/> <property name="v$session.program" value="Clients"/> </properties> but no lucky ...does somebody know how to do it or any idea...? thanks in advanced.-

  • Qt/C++ regular expression library with unicode property support

    - by Dave
I'm converting an application from the .Net framework to Qt using C++. The application makes extensive use of regular expression unicode properties, i.e. \p{L}, \p{M}, etc. I've just discovered that the QRegExp class lacks support for this among other things (lookbehinds, etc.) Can anyone recommend a C++ regular expression library that: Supports unicode properties Is unicode-aware in other respects (i.e. \w matches more than ASCII word characters) As a bonus, supports lookbehinds. Please don't point me to the wikipedia article; I don't trust it. That article says that QRegExp supports unicode properties. Unless I'm really doing something wrong, it doesn't. I'm looking for someone actually using unicode properties with a regex library in a project.

  • Store data in an inconvenient table or create a derived table?

    - by user1705685
I have a certain predefined database structure that I am stuck with. The question is whether this structure is OK for ORM or I whether should add a processing layer that would create a more convenient structure every time something is inserted into the original DB. To simplify, here's what it kind of looks like. I have a person table: PersonId Name And I have a properties table: PersonId PropertyType PropertyValue So, for person John Doe... (1, 'John Doe') ...I could have three properties: (1, 'phone', '555-55-55'), (1, 'email', '[email protected]), (1, 'type', 'employee') By using ORM I would like to get a "person" object that would have properties "name", "phone", "email", "type". Can Propel do that? How efficient is it? Is it a better idea to create a table with columns "phone", "email", "type" and fill it automatically as new rows are inserted into the properties table?

  • Sharepoint 2010 start workflow programmatically error

    - by user522429
I have a workflow associated with a content type. I try to kick it off from code from within the event receiver on the same content type, so when an item is updated, if there is a certain condition (status = ready for review) I start it. //This line does find the workflow association var assoc = properties.Web.ContentTypes["Experiment Document Set"].WorkflowAssociations.GetAssociationByName("Experiment Review Workflow", ultureInfo.CurrentUICulture); //I had tried to use this line from something I found online, but it would return null //var assoc = properties.Web.WorkflowAssociations.GetAssociationByName("Experiment Review Workflow", CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture); var result = properties.Web.Site.WorkflowManager.StartWorkflow(properties.ListItem, assoc, string.Empty, SPWorkflowRunOptions.Synchronous); //The line above gives me this error: System.ArgumentException: Workflow failed to start because the workflow is associated with a content type that does not exist in a list. Before re-starting the workflow, the content type must be added to the list. To check this, I was looking at the content type of the list item being updated and it is correct properties.ListItem.ContentType.Name "Experiment Document Set" So basically I have a workfow associated with the content type "Experiment Document Set". When I try to start a workflow from an event receiver in "Experiment Document Set", I get an error saying the content type "Experiment Document Set" does not exist in the list which doesn't make sense.

  • Adding validations without knowing the fields

    - by Frexuz
    My example form <% form_for @ad do |f| %> <%= f.error_messages %> <p> <%= f.label :ad_type_id %><br /> <%= f.collection_select(:ad_type_id, AdType.all, :id, :name) %> </p> <p> <% @ad.ad_properties.each do |property| %> <%= property.name %>: <% f.fields_for :ad_values do |value_field| %> <%= value_field.text_field :ad_id, :value => @ad.id %> <%= value_field.text_field :ad_property_id, :value => property.id %> <%= value_field.text_field :value %> <% end %><br /><br /> <% end %> </p> <p> <%= f.label :description %><br /> <%= f.text_area :description %> </p> <p><%= f.submit %></p> <% end %> Explanation: Ad has many properties. I can add new properties at any time (it's a normal model). Lets say the Ad is of the type 'hotel'. Then I would add properties like 'stars' and 'breakfast_included' Then I store each of these properties' values in a separate model. And all this works fine with my form above. My problem: These fields are not validated because I can't know what their names are. I need to add validations dynamically somehow. My thought: #Before the normal validations kick in def add_validations self.properties.each do |property| property.add_validation :whatever #somehow :) end end How could I do this?

For example the "color" style property associated with the "a" (anchor) element seems to have a default value of "#000066". What are the default style properties values fo in HTML?

  • the correct actionscript to find if object already exists

    - by touB
I have a Rect object that I'd like to create and set its properties only once. After that, I want to just modify its properties since it already exists. This is my general idea if(theRect == undefined){ Alert.show("creating"); var theRect:Rect = new Rect(); //then set properties addElement(theRect); //then add it using addElement because addChild() does not work } else { Alert.show("updating"); //no need to create it since it's already been created //just access and change the properties } I tried several ways and combinations for the if conditional check: if(theRect == undefined){ if(theRect == null){ declaring and not declaring `var theRect:Rect;` before the if check declaring and instantiating to null before the if check `var theRect:Rect = null;` but can't get the desired effect. Everytime this code block runs, and depending on which version I've used, it either gives me a "can't access null object" error or the if statement always evaluates to true and creates a new Rect object and I get the "creating" Alert. What's the right way of creating that Rect but only if doesn't exist?

  • Is it better to create methods with a long list of parameters or wrap the parameters into an object?

    - by GigaPr
Hi, Is it better(what is the best practice) to create methods with a long list of parameters or wrap the parameters into an object? I mean lets say i have a Client data type with a long list of properties and i want to update all the properties at once. is it better to do something like public int Update(int id, string name, string surname, string streetAddress, string streetAddress2, string postcode, string town, string city, string nationality, string age, string gender, string job){ } or wrap all the properties in a object and do something like public int Update(Client client){} thanks

    - by Tom Brito
Some points that make java swing layout system a nightmare: There's thousands of properties; Even if you learn all the properties, each layout manager ignores some properties; The only existing good RAD tool (NetBeans) does not work well; Layout managers behave different with components and containers inside it.

  • Integrating WIF with WCF Data Services

    - by cibrax
A time ago I discussed how a custom REST Starter kit interceptor could be used to parse a SAML token in the Http Authorization header and wrap that into a ClaimsPrincipal that the WCF services could use. The thing is that code was initially created for Geneva framework, so it got deprecated quickly. I recently needed that piece of code for one of projects where I am currently working on so I decided to update it for WIF. As this interceptor can be injected in any host for WCF REST services, also represents an excellent solution for integrating claim-based security into WCF Data Services (previously known as ADO.NET Data Services). The interceptor basically expects a SAML token in the Authorization header. If a token is found, it is parsed and a new ClaimsPrincipal is initialized and injected in the WCF authorization context. public class SamlAuthenticationInterceptor : RequestInterceptor {   SecurityTokenHandlerCollection handlers;   public SamlAuthenticationInterceptor()     : base(false)   {     this.handlers = FederatedAuthentication.ServiceConfiguration.SecurityTokenHandlers;   }   public override void ProcessRequest(ref RequestContext requestContext)   {     SecurityToken token = ExtractCredentials(requestContext.RequestMessage);     if (token != null)     {       ClaimsIdentityCollection claims = handlers.ValidateToken(token);       var principal = new ClaimsPrincipal(claims);       InitializeSecurityContext(requestContext.RequestMessage, principal);     }     else     {       DenyAccess(ref requestContext);     }   }   private void DenyAccess(ref RequestContext requestContext)   {     Message reply = Message.CreateMessage(MessageVersion.None, null);     HttpResponseMessageProperty responseProperty = new HttpResponseMessageProperty() { StatusCode = HttpStatusCode.Unauthorized };     responseProperty.Headers.Add("WWW-Authenticate",           String.Format("Basic realm=\"{0}\"", ""));     reply.Properties[HttpResponseMessageProperty.Name] = responseProperty;     requestContext.Reply(reply);     requestContext = null;   }   private SecurityToken ExtractCredentials(Message requestMessage)   {     HttpRequestMessageProperty request = (HttpRequestMessageProperty)  requestMessage.Properties[HttpRequestMessageProperty.Name];     string authHeader = request.Headers["Authorization"];     if (authHeader != null && authHeader.Contains("<saml"))     {       XmlTextReader xmlReader = new XmlTextReader(new StringReader(authHeader));       var col = SecurityTokenHandlerCollection.CreateDefaultSecurityTokenHandlerCollection();       SecurityToken token = col.ReadToken(xmlReader);                                        return token;     }     return null;   }   private void InitializeSecurityContext(Message request, IPrincipal principal)   {     List<IAuthorizationPolicy> policies = new List<IAuthorizationPolicy>();     policies.Add(new PrincipalAuthorizationPolicy(principal));     ServiceSecurityContext securityContext = new ServiceSecurityContext(policies.AsReadOnly());     if (request.Properties.Security != null)     {       request.Properties.Security.ServiceSecurityContext = securityContext;     }     else     {       request.Properties.Security = new SecurityMessageProperty() { ServiceSecurityContext = securityContext };      }    }    class PrincipalAuthorizationPolicy : IAuthorizationPolicy    {      string id = Guid.NewGuid().ToString();      IPrincipal user;      public PrincipalAuthorizationPolicy(IPrincipal user)      {        this.user = user;      }      public ClaimSet Issuer      {        get { return ClaimSet.System; }      }      public string Id      {        get { return this.id; }      }      public bool Evaluate(EvaluationContext evaluationContext, ref object state)      {        evaluationContext.AddClaimSet(this, new DefaultClaimSet(System.IdentityModel.Claims.Claim.CreateNameClaim(user.Identity.Name)));        evaluationContext.Properties["Identities"] = new List<IIdentity>(new IIdentity[] { user.Identity });        evaluationContext.Properties["Principal"] = user;        return true;      }    } A WCF Data Service, as any other WCF Service, contains a service host where this interceptor can be injected. The following code illustrates how that can be done in the “svc” file. <%@ ServiceHost Language="C#" Debug="true" Service="ContactsDataService"                 Factory="AppServiceHostFactory" %> using System; using System.ServiceModel; using System.ServiceModel.Activation; using Microsoft.ServiceModel.Web; class AppServiceHostFactory : ServiceHostFactory {    protected override ServiceHost CreateServiceHost(Type serviceType, Uri[] baseAddresses)   {     WebServiceHost2 result = new WebServiceHost2(serviceType, true, baseAddresses);     result.Interceptors.Add(new SamlAuthenticationInterceptor());                 return result;   } } WCF Data Services includes an specific WCF host of out the box (DataServiceHost). However, the service is not affected at all if you replace it with a custom one as I am doing in the code above (WebServiceHost2 is part of the REST Starter kit). Finally, the client application needs to pass the SAML token somehow to the data service. In case you are using any Http client library for consuming the data service, that’s easy to do, you only need to include the SAML token as part of the “Authorization” header. If you are using the auto-generated data service proxy, a little piece of code is needed to inject a SAML token into the DataServiceContext instance. That class provides an event “SendingRequest” that any client application can leverage to include custom code that modified the Http request before it is sent to the service. So, you can easily create an extension method for the DataServiceContext that negotiates the SAML token with an existing STS, and adds that token as part of the “Authorization” header. public static class DataServiceContextExtensions {        public static void ConfigureFederatedCredentials(this DataServiceContext context, string baseStsAddress, string realm)   {     string address = string.Format(STSAddressFormat, baseStsAddress, realm);                  string token = NegotiateSecurityToken(address);     context.SendingRequest += (source, args) =>     {       args.RequestHeaders.Add("Authorization", token);     };   } private string NegotiateSecurityToken(string address) { } } I left the NegociateSecurityToken method empty for this extension as it depends pretty much on how you are negotiating tokens from an existing STS. In case you want to end-to-end REST solution that involves an Http endpoint for the STS, you should definitely take a look at the Thinktecture starter STS project in codeplex.
