    I was spending some time browsing around Facebook today (translation: wasting time), when I noticed that they have some shortcut keys for navigating around the site using the keyboard, so I put together a list for everybody. Note: for each of these shortcut keys, if you’re using Firefox, you’ll need to use Shift+Alt instead of just Alt, and for Internet Explorer you’ll need to hit the Enter key after the shortcut to trigger it.     I think I have finally arrived at an insolvable equation: Chromium v.7 + Ubuntu 10.04 + Sun Java 6 + Webcam + Facebook + Flash 10 = non-functional All of those items listed above are potential points of failure in this situation, and any help narrowing them down would be fantastic. I am simply trying to enable webcame support directly through Facebooks website. Forum searches and the usual googling turn up few posts related to this specific equation. Two of the major suggestions include: 1) Installing the Sun (I refuse to say oracle sob)-provided Java implementation instead of the OpenJDK normally installed in ubuntu. And yes, after installing it, I did update all my default supports to use the sun commands over the openjdk. 2) Somehow enabling Facebook as a permitted site to access my webcam using Flash settings. I have not been able to explore option 2 because I cannot find a way to adjust the Flash settings in chromium 7. Other factors that do not help include the fact that I am pretty sure facebook changes its webcam interface every 10 seconds just to keep troubleshooters and support personnel on their toes. If anyone has a OTP that informs us of the next shift in the app, a leak would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

    Hi there, I am facing this problem : I have a fbjs string which I use forDialog().showChoice() I populate part of the fbjs string from data I get through mysql. Now I update the data in fb:dialog and want this update to be reflected the next time I update/call the dialog box.     I have a swf hosted at domain A, and I have a html at domain B My swf is able to be loaded from accessing the html at domain B. However, the swf gets a SecurityError: Error #2060: Security sandbox violation: ExternalInterface caller http://domainA.com/TrialApp.swf cannot access http://DomainB.com/. The as3 is just the below: ExternalInterface.call("javascript:_invite();"); I've also loaded the crossdomain policy file from Domain B during initialization. Security.loadPolicyFile( "http://DomainB/crossdomain.xml" ); How do I go about solving this? in my html, I have allowscriptaccess='always' Thanks in Advance

  • rails accessing value from facebooker hash/array

    This is my first time using the facebooker plugin with rails, and I'm having trouble accessing user info. The website uses FB connect to authenticate users. I am trying to get the name of the university that the logged in user attends. When I use the command <%= facebook_session.user.education_history[:name] %>, I get an error "Symbol as array index". I have also tried using education_history[1], but that just returns "# Facebooker::EducationInfo:<some sort of alphanumeric hash value>" When I use something like <%= facebook_session.user.relationship_status %> , it returns the relationship status just fine. Similarly, <%= facebook_session.user.hometown_location.city %> returns the city name just fine. I've checked out the documentation for facebooker, but I can't figure out the correct way to get the values I need. Any idea on how to get this to work? Thanks!

  • real time updates for new page events

    I know there's a few questions knocking around on this topic but none quite the same. I'm currently searching by location for all the pages relating to a particular geographic location and caching their events in a database. The problem being I have to currently loop through all the pages i'm watching frequently to check for updates. At the moment the 10,000 Pages I'm keeping track of takes a good while to update. It would be much neater (and nicer to fb) to be notified instead of polling. Does anyone know of a more efficient to do this? Thanks Ben

We need reliable messaging between our clients and the server, preferably over HTTP protocol. Besides the multiplayer functionality, we’ll also need a content delivery service.     We're using the fb:registration plugin to sign up users on our site. Today I noticed the registration redirect is no longer working in Google Chrome and Safari (latest public release). I know for sure it was working with the same code as recently as last week. It seems to be getting stuck on submission with this error, which is coming from: static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/v1/ys/r/ioE9qOq_5Oa.js:101 Firefox and IE have no problem, so it seems to be Webkit specific. Any ideas?

  • How to Communicate between minifb and a GAE-Hosted Silverlight Client

    I have a minifb app (technically gminifb) running on Google App Engine with a bunch of handlers for processing all kinds of requests from a Silverlight client. What's the recommended approach for adding the FB GET variables, such as fb_sig, to the HTTP requests? I believe I can technically pass the session key and uid directly and get things to work but it seems there's probably a much better way to do this. I was reading about FBJS AJAX and I'm trying to figure out how I can use it to proxy the HTTP requests from the Silverlight client through it. Is this a good way to do it? And if so, how would I go about doing so? Any other recommendations would be appreciated too. Thanks,
