  • C++ boost.asio server and client connection undersanding

    - by Edgar Buchvalov
    i started learning boost.asio and i have some problems with undersanding tcp connections. There is example from official boost site: #include <ctime> #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <boost/asio.hpp> using boost::asio::ip::tcp; std::string make_daytime_string() { using namespace std; // For time_t, time and ctime; time_t now = time(0); return ctime(&now); } int main() { try { boost::asio::io_service io_service; tcp::acceptor acceptor(io_service, tcp::endpoint(tcp::v4(), 13)); for (;;) { tcp::socket socket(io_service); acceptor.accept(socket); std::string message = make_daytime_string(); boost::system::error_code ignored_error; boost::asio::write(socket, boost::asio::buffer(message), boost::asio::transfer_all(), ignored_error); } } catch (std::exception& e) { std::cerr << e.what() << std::endl; } return 0; } there is question, why if i want to connet to this server via client i have t write: boost::asio::io_service io_service; tcp::resolver resolver(io_service); tcp::resolver::query query(host_ip, "daytime"); //why daytime? tcp::resolver::iterator endpoint_iterator = resolver.resolve(query); tcp::resolver::iterator end; why daytime?, what it meant and where it is inicialized in server, or i just doesn't missed somefing? there is full client code : www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_39_0/doc/html/boost_asio/tutorial/tutdaytime1.html thanks for explanation in advance

  • C++ error: expected initializer before ‘&’ token

    - by Werner
    Hi, the following piece of C++ code compiled two years ago in a suse 10.1 Linux machine. #ifndef DATA_H #define DATA_H #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> inline double sqr(double x) { return x*x; } enum Direction { X,Y,Z }; inline Direction next(const Direction d) { switch(d) { case X: return Y; case Y: return Z; case Z: return X; } } inline ostream& operator<<(ostream& os,const Direction d) { switch(d) { case X: return os << "X"; case Y: return os << "Y"; case Z: return os << "Z"; } } ... ... Now, I am trying to compile it on Ubuntu 9.10 and I get the error: data.h:20: error: expected initializer before ‘&’ token which is referred to the line of: inline ostream& operator<<(ostream& os,const Direction d) the g++ used on this machine is: Using built-in specs.   • zend framework - quickstart application

    - by m gahagan
    I have been attempting to install the 'quickstart' tutorial application on my system. After a considerable amount of frustration - a) because I dont know how it all works andb) mine's a windows (wamp) set-up, I have got as far as setting up the guestbook database successfully and reaching the Checkpoint: Now browse to http://localhost/guestbook. You should see the following in your browser: I get error: Warning: include(C:\wamp\www\quickstart\application/models//GuestbookMapper.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\wamp\www\quickstart\library\Zend\Loader\Autoloader\Resource.php on line 176 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'C:\wamp\www\quickstart\application/models//GuestbookMapper.php' for inclusion (include_path='C:\wamp\www\quickstart\library;.;C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.0\PEAR;C:\wamp\zend\library;C:\wamp\zend\extras\library') in C:\wamp\www\quickstart\library\Zend\Loader\Autoloader\Resource.php on line 176 Fatal error: Class 'Default_Model_GuestbookMapper' not found in C:\wamp\www\quickstart\application\models\Guestbook.php on line 102 Obviously failing to link relevant files is the main issue - First, that 'C:\wamp\www\quickstart\application/models//GuestbookMapper.php' looks wrong to me, but I cant figure out what's creating it. Second, I have a very tenuous grip on the whole file path system and cant tell whether things are wrongly configured. If I could get the guestbook app to function, then I might be able to get a grip on what's going on. As it is, I seem to fix one problem only to find another round the next corner.

  • how can exec change the behavior of exec'ed program

    - by R Samuel Klatchko
    I am trying to track down a very odd crash. What is so odd about it is a workaround that someone discovered and which I cannot explain. The workaround is this small program which I'll refer to as 'runner': #include <stdio.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <string.h> #include <errno.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { if (argc == 1) { fprintf(stderr, "Usage: %s prog [args ...]\n", argv[0]); return 1; } execvp(argv[1], argv + 1); fprintf(stderr, "execv failed: %s\n", strerror(errno)); // If exec returns because the program is not found or we // don't have the appropriate permission return 255; } As you can see, all this program does is use execvp to replace itself with a different program. The program crashes when it is directly invoked from the command line: /path/to/prog args # this crashes but works fine when it is indirectly invoked via my runner shim: /path/to/runner /path/to/prog args # works successfully For the life of me, I can figure out how having an extra exec can change the behavior of the program being run (as you can see the program does not change the environment). Some background on the crash. The crash itself is happening in the C++ runtime. Specifically, when the program does a throw, the crashing version incorrectly thinks there is no matching catch (although there is) and calls terminate. When I invoke the program via runner, the exception is properly caught. My question is any idea why the extra exec changes the behavior of the exec'ed program?

  • Template operator linker error

    - by Dani
    I have a linker error I've reduced to a simple example. The build output is: debug/main.o: In function main': C:\Users\Dani\Documents\Projects\Test1/main.cpp:5: undefined reference tolog& log::operator<< (char const (&) [6])' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status It looks like the linker ignores the definition in log.cpp. I also cant put the definition in log.h because I include the file alot of times and it complains about redefinitions. main.cpp: #include "log.h" int main() { log() << "hello"; return 0; } log.h: #ifndef LOG_H #define LOG_H class log { public: log(); template<typename T> log &operator <<(T &t); }; #endif // LOG_H log.cpp: #include "log.h" #include <iostream> log::log() { } template<typename T> log &log::operator <<(T &t) { std::cout << t << std::endl; return *this; }

  • structure inside structure - c++ Error

    - by gamadeus
    First of all the error I am getting is of the type: Request for member 's' of struct1.struct1::struct2, which is of non class type '__u32' where: struct struct1 { struct x struct2; struct x struct3; struct x struct4; }; The usage is of the form: struct struct1 st1; st1.struct2.s = Value; Now my struct1 is: struct ip_mreq_source { struct in_addr imr_multiaddr; struct in_addr imr_sourceaddr; struct in_addr imr_interface; }; struct 'x' is in_addr Where: typedef uint32_t in_addr_t; struct in_addr { in_addr_t s_addr; }; element 's' is the element s_addr in in_addr. • does lucene search function work in large size document?

    - by shaon-fan
    Hi,there I have a problem when do search with lucene. First, in lucene indexing function, it works well to huge size document. such as .pst file, the outlook mail storage. It can build indexing file include all the information of .pst. The only problem is to large sometimes, include very much words. So when i search using lucene, it only can process the front part of this indexing file, if one word come out the back part of the indexing file, it couldn't find this word and no hits in result. But when i separate this indexing file to several parts in stupid way when debugging, and searching every parts, it can work well. So i want to know how to separate indexing file, how much size should be the limit of searching? cheers and wait 4 reply. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ hi,there, follow Coady siad, i set the length to max 2^31-1. But the search result still can't include what i want. simply, i convert the doc word to string array[] to analyze, one doc word has 79680 words include the space and any symbol. when i search certain word, it just return 300 count, actually it has more than 300 results. The same reason, when i search a word in back part of the doc, it also couldn't find. //////////////set the length idexwriter.SetMaxFieldLength(2147483647); ////////////////////search IndexSearcher searcher = new ndexSearcher(Program.Parameters["INDEX_LOCATION"].ToString()); Hits hits = searcher.Search(query); This is my code, as others same. I found that problem when i need to count every word hits in a doc. So i also found it couldn't search word in back part of doc. pls help me to find, is there any set searcher length somewhere? how u meet this problem.

  • [Qt] How to get rid of OCI.dll dependency when compiling static

    - by STL
    Hi, My application accesses an Oracle database through Qt's QSqlDatabase class. I'm compiling Qt as static for the release build, but I can't seem to be able to get rid of OCI.dll dependency. I'm trying to link against oci.lib (as available in Oracle's Instant Client with SDK). Here's my configure line : configure -qt-libjpeg -qt-zlib -qt-libpng -nomake examples -nomake demos -no-exceptions -no-stl -no-rtti -no-qt3support -no-scripttools -no-openssl -no-opengl -no-phonon -no-style-motif -no-style-cde -no-style-cleanlooks -no-style-plastique -static -release -opensource -plugin-sql-oci -plugin-sql-sqlite -platform win32-msvc2005 I link against oci.h and oci.lib in the SDK's folder by using : set INCLUDE=C:\oracle\instantclient\sdk\include;%INCLUDE% set LIB=C:\oracle\instantclient\sdk\lib\msvc;%LIB% Then, once Qt is compiled, I use the following lines in my *.pro file : QT += sql CONFIG += static LIBS += C:\oracle\instantclient\sdk\lib\msvc\oci.lib QTPLUGIN += qsqloci Then, in my main.cpp, I add the following commands to statically compile OCI plugin in the application : #include <QtPlugin> Q_IMPORT_PLUGIN(qsqloci) After compiling the project, I test it on my workstation and it works (as I have Oracle Instant Client installed). When I try on another workstation, I always get the message: This application has failed to start because OCI.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem. I don't understand why I still need OCI.dll, as my statically linked application is supposed to link to oci.lib instead. Is there any Qt people here that might have a solution for me ? Thanks a lot ! • Trouble compiling C/C++ project in NetBeans 6.8 with MinGW on Windows

    - by dontoo
    I am learning C and because VC++ 2008 doesn't support C99 features I have just installed NetBeans and configure it to work with MinGW. I can compile single file project ( main.c) and use debugger but when I add new file to project I get error "undefined reference to ... function(code) in that file..". • Specializing a class template constructor

    - by SilverSun
    I'm messing around with template specialization and I ran into a problem with trying to specialize the constructor based on what policy is used. I'm thinking either I can't figure out the right syntax for the specialization, or maybe it isn't possible to do it this way.

Following is my code snippet: First of all i added a helper class under application/controller/helpers: class Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Layout extends Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Abstract { public $pluginLoader; public function __construct() { // TODO Auto-generated Constructor $this->pluginLoader = new Zend_Loader_PluginLoader (); } public function preDispatch() { $bootstrap = $this->getActionController()->getInvokeArg('bootstrap'); $config = $bootstrap->getOptions(); $module = $this->getRequest()->getModuleName(); if (isset($config[$module]['resources']['layout']['layout'])) { $layoutScript = $config[$module]['resources']['layout']['layout']; $this->getActionController()->getHelper('layout')->setLayout($layoutScript); } } } Then i added a loader in bootstrap.php: protected function _initLayoutHelper() { $this->bootstrap('frontController'); Zend_Controller_Action_HelperBroker::addPath(APPLICATION_PATH .'/controllers/helpers'); $layout = Zend_Controller_Action_HelperBroker::addHelper(new Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_Layout()); } Following is my application.ini: [production] autoloaderNamespaces.tree = "Tree_" phpSettings.display_startup_errors = 0 phpSettings.display_errors = 0 includePaths.library = APPLICATION_PATH "/../library" bootstrap.path = APPLICATION_PATH "/Bootstrap.php" bootstrap.class = "Bootstrap" resources.frontController.controllerDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/controllers" resources.frontController.moduleDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/modules" resources.frontController.helperDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/controllers/helpers" resources.modules[] = "" contact.resources.frontController.defaultControllerName = "index" resources.layout.layoutPath = APPLICATION_PATH "/layouts/scripts" resources.layout.layout = layout admin.resources.layout.layout = admin admin.resources.layout.layoutPath = APPLICATION_PATH "/layouts/scripts" resources.view[] = [staging : production] [testing : production] phpSettings.display_startup_errors = 1 phpSettings.display_errors = 1 [development : production] phpSettings.display_startup_errors = 1 phpSettings.display_errors = 1 While running this code i am getting following errors: Warning: include(Zend\Controller\Action\Helper\LayoutLoader.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in D:\personal\proj\renovate\library\Zend\Loader.php on line 83 Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening 'Zend\Controller\Action\Helper\LayoutLoader.php' for inclusion (include_path='D:\personal\proj\renovate\application/../library;D:\personal\proj\renovate\library;.;C:\php5\pear') in D:\personal\proj\renovate\library\Zend\Loader.php on line 83 Fatal error: Class 'Zend_Controller_Action_Helper_LayoutLoader' not found in D:\personal\proj\renovate\application\Bootstrap.php on line 33 Kindly let me know, how can i come out from this issue.   • Windows 7 dsound.dll load from dll crash

    - by Jonas Byström
    I'm getting a crash when loading dsound.dll from another DLL in Windows 7. The following code crashes: #include <Windows.h> #include <mmreg.h> #include <dsound.h> #include <assert.h> HRESULT (WINAPI *pDirectSoundEnumerateA)(LPDSENUMCALLBACKA pDSEnumCallback, LPVOID pContext); HMODULE hDsound; BOOL CALLBACK DSEnum(LPGUID a, LPCSTR b, LPCSTR c, LPVOID d) { return TRUE; } void CrashTest() { HRESULT hr; hDsound = LoadLibraryA("dsound.dll"); assert(hDsound); *(void**)&pDirectSoundEnumerateA = (void*)GetProcAddress(hDsound, "DirectSoundEnumerateA"); assert(pDirectSoundEnumerateA); hr = pDirectSoundEnumerateA(DSEnum, NULL); assert(!FAILED(hr)); } BOOL APIENTRY DllMain(HANDLE hModule,DWORD ul_reason_for_call,LPVOID lpReserved) { if (ul_reason_for_call == DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH) { DisableThreadLibraryCalls(hModule); CrashTest(); } } with this error code: Unhandled exception at ... in ...: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000044. (it's always 0x44 for some reason). It works on Windows XP or when loading directly from the .exe (not from a separate DLL). Help!?! :)

  • Mixing c++ standard strings and windows API

    - by JB
    Many windows APIs take a pointer to a buffer and a size element but the result needs to go into a c++ string. (I'm using windows unicode here so they are wstrings) Here is an example :- #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <vector> #include <windows.h> using namespace std; // This is the method I'm interested in improving ... wstring getComputerName() { vector<wchar_t> buffer; buffer.resize(MAX_COMPUTERNAME_LENGTH+1); DWORD size = MAX_COMPUTERNAME_LENGTH; GetComputerNameW(&buffer[0], &size); return wstring(&buffer[0], size); } int main() { wcout << getComputerName() << "\n"; } My question really is, is this the best way to write the getComputerName function so that it fits into C++ better, or is there a better way? I don't see any way to use a string directly without going via a vector unless I missed something? It works fine, but somehow seems a little ugly. The question isn't about that particular API, it's just a convenient example.

  • What is the relation between ContentPane and JPanel?

    - by Roman
    I found one example in which buttons are added to panels (instances of JPanel) then panels are added to the the containers (instances generated by getContentPane) and then containers are, by the construction, included into the JFrame (the windows). I tried two things: I got rid of the containers. In more details, I added buttons to a panel (instance of JPanel) and then I added the panel to the windows (instance of JFrame). It worked fine. I got rid of the panels. In more details, I added buttons directly to the container and then I added the container to the window (instance of JFrame). So, I do not understand two things. Why do we have two competing mechanism to do the same things. What is the reason to use containers in combination with the panels (JPanel)? (For example, what for we include buttons in JPanels and then we include JPanels in the Containers). Can we include JPanel in JPanel? Can we include a container in container?

  • Help me with the simplest program for "Trusted" application

    - by idazuwaika
    Hi, I hope anyone from the large community here can help me write the simplest "Trusted" program that I can expand from. I'm using Ubuntu Linux 9.04, with TPM emulator 0.60 from Mario Strasser (http://tpm-emulator.berlios.de/). I have installed the emulator and Trousers, and can successfully run programs from tpm-tools after running tpmd and tcsd daemons. I hope to start developing my application, but I have problems compiling the code below. #include <trousers/tss.h> #include <trousers/trousers.h> #include <stdio.h> TSS_HCONTEXT hContext; int main() { Tspi_Context_Create(&hContext); Tspi_Context_Close(hContext); return 0; } After trying to compile with g++ tpm.cpp -o tpmexe I receive errors undefined reference to 'Tspi_Context_Create' undefined reference to 'Tspi_Context_Close' What do I have to #include to successfully compile this? Is there anything that I miss? I'm familiar with C, but not exactly so with Linux/Unix programming environment. ps: I am a part time student in Master in Information Security programme. My involvement with programming has been largely for academic purposes.

  • C++ Multiple inheritance with interfaces?

    - by umanga
    Greetings all, I come from Java background and I am having difficulty with multiple inheritance. I have an interface called IView which has init() method.I want to derive a new class called PlaneViewer implementing above interface and extend another class. (QWidget). My implementation is as: IViwer.h (only Header file , no CPP file) : #ifndef IVIEWER_H_ #define IVIEWER_H_ class IViewer { public: //IViewer(); ///virtual //~IViewer(); virtual void init()=0; }; #endif /* IVIEWER_H_ */ My derived class. PlaneViewer.h #ifndef PLANEVIEWER_H #define PLANEVIEWER_H #include <QtGui/QWidget> #include "ui_planeviewer.h" #include "IViewer.h" class PlaneViewer : public QWidget , public IViewer { Q_OBJECT public: PlaneViewer(QWidget *parent = 0); ~PlaneViewer(); void init(); //do I have to define here also ? private: Ui::PlaneViewerClass ui; }; #endif // PLANEVIEWER_H PlaneViewer.cpp #include "planeviewer.h" PlaneViewer::PlaneViewer(QWidget *parent) : QWidget(parent) { ui.setupUi(this); } PlaneViewer::~PlaneViewer() { } void PlaneViewer::init(){ } My questions are: Is it necessary to declare method init() in PlaneViewer interface also , because it is already defined in IView? 2.I cannot complie above code ,give error : PlaneViewer]+0x28): undefined reference to `typeinfo for IViewer' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status Do I have to have implementation for IView in CPP file?

  • Launch a QWidget from a QMain window

    - by Opera
    Hello everyone ! I'm doing my first C++ - Qt4 application and I'm having some trouble "connecting" my different uis. I have a main window with several buttons and when I click on one, I want another window to open. The MyMainWindowClass inherits from QMainWindow and the other from QWidget. Here is the code I have written so far : #include <iostream #include "MyWidgetClass.hpp" #include "MyMainWindowClass.hpp" #include "ui_MyMainWindowClassUi.h" MyMainWindowClass::MyMainWindowClass(QWidget *parent) : QMainWindow(parent), m_ui(new Ui::MyMainWindowClassUi) { m_ui-setupUi(this); initConnect(); } void MyMainWindowClass::initConnect() { QObject::connect(m_ui-SomeBtn, SIGNAL(clicked()), this, SLOT(SomeBtnClicked())); // Some other QObject::connect calls return; } void MyMainWindowClass::SomeBtnClicked() { std::cout << "Some Btn has been clicked" << std::endl; this-setEnabled(false); MyWidgetClass mwc(this); mwc.show(); return; } This calls the Ctor and the Dtor from MyWidgetClass, disables the MyMainWindowClassUi, but doesn't show my other GUI. What am I missing to have the window showed when I click on the button ?

  • Qt 101: Why can't I use this class?

    - by Airjoe
    I have experience with C++ but I've never really used Qt before. I'm trying to connect to a SQLite database, so I found a tutorial here and am going with that. In the QtCreator IDE, I went to Add New -- C++ Class and in the header file pasted in the header the header from that link and in the .cpp file I pasted the source. My main.cpp looks like this: #include <QtGui/QApplication> #include "mainwindow.h" #include "databasemanager.h" #include <qlabel.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { QApplication a(argc, argv); MainWindow w; w.show(); DatabaseManager db(); QLabel hello("nothing..."); if(db.openDB()){ hello.setText("Win!"); } else{ hello.setText("Lame!"); } hello.resize(100, 30); hello.show(); return a.exec(); } And I'm getting this error: main.cpp:13: error: request for member 'openDB' in 'db', which is of non-class type 'DatabaseManager()' Can anyone point me in the right direction? I know "copypaste" code isn't good, I just wanted to see if I could get DB connectivity working and I figured something like this would be simple... thanks for the help.

  • Boost link error when using "--layout=system" on VS2005

    - by Kevin
    I'm new to boost, and thought I'd try it out with some realistic deployment scenarios for the .dlls, so I used the following command to compile/install the libraries: .\bjam install --layout=system variant=debug runtime-link=shared link=shared --with-date_time --with-thread --with-regex --with-filesystem --includedir=<my include directory> --libdir=<my bin directory> > installlog.txt That seemed to work, but my simple program (taken right from the "Getting Started" page) fails: #include <boost/regex.hpp> #include <iostream> #include <string> // Place your functions after this line int main() { std::string line; boost::regex pat( "^Subject: (Re: |Aw: )*(.*)" ); while (std::cin) { std::getline(std::cin, line); boost::smatch matches; if (boost::regex_match(line, matches, pat)) std::cout << matches[2] << std::endl; } } This fails with the following linker error: fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'libboost_regex-vc80-mt-1_42.lib' I'm sure that both the .lib and the .dlls are in that directory, and named how I want them to be (ie: boost_regex.lib, etc, all unversioned, as the --layout=system says). So why is it looking for the versioned type of it? And how do I get it to look for the unversioned type of the library? I've tried this with more "normal" options, such as below: .\bjam stage --build-type=complete --with-date_time --with-thread --with-filesystem --with-regex > mybuildlog.txt And that works fine. I made sure my compiler saw the "stage\lib" directory, and it compiled and ran fine with nothing beyond having the environment looking into the right lib directory. But when I took those "testing" directories away, and wanted to use these others (unversioned), then it failed. I'm under VS2005 here on XP. Any ideas?

  • Classic ASP application-wide initializations and object caching

    - by slack3r
    In classic ASP (which I am forced to use), I have a few factory functions, that is, functions that return classes. I use JScript. In one include file I use these factory functions to create some classes that are used throughout the application. This include file is included with the #include directive in all pages. These factory functions do some "heavy lifting" and I don't want them to be executed on every page load. So, to make this clear I have something like this: // factory.inc function make_class(arg1, arg2) { function klass() { //... } // ... Some heavy stuff return klass; } // init.inc, included everywhere <!-- #include FILE="factory.inc" --> // ... MyClass1 = make_class(myarg01, myarg02); MyClass2 = make_class(myarg11, myarg12); //... How can I achieve the same effect without calling make_class on every page load? I know that I can't cache the classes in the Application object I can't use the Application_OnStart hook in Global.asa I could probably create a scripting component, but I really don't want to do that So, is there something else I can do? Maybe some way to achieve caching of these classes, which are really objects in JScript. PS: [further clarification] In the above code "heavy stuff" is not so heavy, but I just want to know if there's a way to avoid it being executed all the time. It reads database meta information, builds a table of the primary keys in the database and another table that resolves strings to classes, etc.
