  • How to set maxLines and ellipsesize of a TextView at the same time.

    I want to limit my text view to have maximum of 6 lines, so I did: <TextView android:id="@+id/toptext" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:maxLines="6"/> But when I try to configure it to add '...' when the text is truncated, I add android:ellipsize="end". I do see the ... but then my TextView only has a max line of 2, instead of 6. Can you please how can I make the text view of maximum line of 6 and add '...' when it get truncated? Thank you.

    I need to access a folder that will contain various text files for my web site. I'm using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I made a web site using visual basic. Here is the failing code: Dim fileName As String fileName = CurDir.ToString + fileName.Text + ".txt" FileOpen(1, fileName, OpenMode.Output) FileClose(1) CurDir.ToString is giving me strange directory path that isn't anywhere near where my website files are located. I need to be able to access the files in a folder inside of the WebSite1 folder without using C:\Users\..., but I'm at a loss on how to do that. Can anyone help me out?

    I have a class Bar: class Bar { public: Bar(void); ~Bar(void); }; And a class Foo that gets a reference to Bar object as a constructor parameter and needs to save it in a private member bar_ : class Foo { private: Bar& bar_; public: Foo(Bar& bar) : bar_(bar) {} ~Foo(void) {} }; This doesn't compile : overloaded member function not found in 'Parser' missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int Now i suspect couple of things that i need to assure, the second error is for Bar& bar_; declaration in Foo. Do i need to use an explicit constructor when declaring bar_ ? I am interested in learning how the compiler works regarding this matter, so a detailed explanation would be highly appreciated.   • For business people to manage, keep binary images in MySQL or just the urls?

    Hello everyone: I am working on a task to enable image uploading and auto-scaling(from full sized to thumbnail) by jQuery & PHP. I can naturally come up with two approaches : First, store both images as binary objects directly into MySQL; Second, store only urls to the images and keep the images somewhere on server. The images are for everyone to view, so there are no security restrictions, as far as I know. Personally I don't have any preference, however, at the end of the day, it is the business people that are going to manage the images as part of the system(CRUD). So I am wondering which seems to be a bit better for them? Of course I am building a easy-to-use, visualize web interface for the staff to control the process, but I am not sure if that is enough. Lessons told me that if I don't think for the future and seek the most flexible approach, the I will probably screw myself sooner or later. PS. That's pretty much if you consider deploying this package to a remote Jboss server and possibly redeploying it package many times during your regular work. Lib files like richfaces and jsf-facelet make the lion's share of that EAR size. Why can't we just extract lib files into jboss-web.deployer directory on JBoss 4.2.0 GA server?

What if in my click listener of a button in a list item view, I change the text of the TextView in the List item view or change the dimension of the list item view by adding/removing children of the list item view What is an efficient to refresh my listView?   • How to prevent the beep sound caused by alt key pressed in a WinForms TextBox?

    I'm creating a routine that allows the user to replicate keyboard shortcuts into a textbox for 'custom keyboard shortcuts' customization, but every time the alt key is pressed with another letter, it produces another sound. I'm capturing the keys in the textbox_keydown event to parse the modifiers + other keys into a readable Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + B manner into that very same textbox. Should I be doing this in a different event like textbox_previewkey instead of textbox_keydown? How can I prevent the alt modifier key + a letter or number causing the Beep sound? the textbox is just a normal .net 3.5 textbox with the only edited properties of it being the ReadOnly property to false. Is there a better way I could re-do this? I'm currently just checking that if any modifiers keys are pressed and then + a-z or 0-9, then to go ahead and input the appropriately pressed keys into that same textbox like Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + Y.

    Hi all, Quick question: How do I specify the number of characters in a split window? C-x-3 Splits my window into two windows evenly, but a subsequent split will split one of the windows in half. I'd like 3 equal sized windows. The documentation says that I should be able to specify the number of characters for the left buffer as a parameter, but I cant seem to get that to work. Any ideas for syntax? Thanks.

    By default, an unstyled set of nested <ul> lists looks like this (in Chrome, Firefox, and IE at least): The top level has a list-style-type of disc, the next level is circle, and subsequent levels are square. If I include a stylesheet that changes the list-style-type to none, is there a simple way to revert back to the "automatic bullet types" later in the document? (e.g., override with a subsequent CSS definition or JavaScript style change) Basically, I'm looking for something like list-style-type: auto; (which is apparently not valid and has no effect): <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: none; } ul { list-style-type: auto; } /* Does not work */ </style> Setting the list-style-type back to disc changes every bullet in the list and I no longer see different bullets at different levels, so that doesn't work either.     I'm trying to get some information (itemID, title, price and mileage) for multiple listings from ebay website using their api . Unfortunately I never worked with php dom and I can't figure it out how to extract the values . I tried to follow the tutorial found on IBM website http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/os-xmldomphp/ but I had no success. Some help would be highly appreciated.

Actually, I'm more interested if MSBuild v4 is installed, which would boil down to a simple File.Exists(@"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\msbuild.exe"); However, apart from the fragility of the 4.0.30319 Version (and the Windir, but that's easy to solve), I wonder if there is a more appropriate way, like an API?

    I'm struggling with writing a python script that automatically grabs the zip fail containing all my google calendars and stores it (as a backup) on my harddisk. I'm using ClientLogin to get an authentication token (and successfully can obtain the token). Unfortunately, i'm unable to retrieve the file at https://www.google.com/calendar/exporticalzip It always asks me for the login credentials again by returning a login page as html (instead of the zip).   • Struct size containing vector<T> different sizes between DLL and EXE..

    I have this situation where an EXE program imports a DLL for a single function call. It works by passing in a custom structure and returning a different custom structure. Up till now it's worked fine until I wanted one of the structs data members to be a vector < MyStruct When I do a sizeof(vector< MyStruct ) in my program I get a size of 20 but when I do it from inside the DLL I get a size of 24. This size inconsistency is causing a ESP pointer error. Can anyone tell me why a Vector < MyStruct would be a different size in the DLL than in the program? I have reverified that my structs in both the DLL and the Program are identical. I would appreciate any help on the subject. Thank you.

    I'm developing an iPad app that needs read-only access to an Oracle database. Is there any way to do this? As far as I can see, the only options are using OCI, which requires a prebuilt binary in the form of the instant client (and not built for ARM), or OJDBC drivers. Both of these seem to be out of the question. In my research I have discovered that libmysqlclient compiles for arm with minimal tuning. This is a stretch, but is there any possible way to use this to my advantage? I have seen this product providing odbc connectivity through the use of a Windows gateway machine using the ODBC client libraries, but this solution really isn't an option for me at the present time. Any ideas?

  • Strange behaviour of NSScanner on simple whitespace removal

    I'm trying to replace all multiple whitespace in some text with a single space. This should be a very simple task, however for some reason it's returning a different result than expected. I've read the docs on the NSScanner and it seems like it's not working properly! NSScanner *scanner = [[NSScanner alloc] initWithString:@"This is a test of NSScanner !"]; NSMutableString *result = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; NSString *temp; NSCharacterSet *whitespace = [NSCharacterSet whitespaceCharacterSet]; while (![scanner isAtEnd]) { // Scan upto and stop before any whitespace [scanner scanUpToCharactersFromSet:whitespace intoString:&temp]; // Add all non whotespace characters to string [result appendString:temp]; // Scan past all whitespace and replace with a single space if ([scanner scanCharactersFromSet:whitespace intoString:NULL]) { [result appendString:@" "]; } } But for some reason the result is @"ThisisatestofNSScanner!" instead of @"This is a test of NSScanner !". If you read through the comments and what each line should achieve it seems simple enough!? scanUpToCharactersFromSet should stop the scanner just as it encounters whitespace. scanCharactersFromSet should then progress the scanner past the whitespace up to the non-whitespace characters. And then the loop continues to the end. What am I missing or not understanding?
