  • Refresh a ListView if I change the content of the ListItem

    Hi, I have a ListView in my android activity. And I populate the ListView by sub-class the BaseAdaptor (which returns a View in getView() method). What if in my click listener of a button in a list item view, I change the text of the TextView in the List item view or change the dimension of the list item view by adding/removing children of the list item view What is an efficient to refresh my listView? I don't want the listView to re-trigger a query since there is no data change. Thank you.

    Just wondering how you all manage your workload effectively when there's a lot of your plate? What do you do to break it down into bite-size chunks and how do you track progress of each task? Do you find TDD helps to focus your attention of getting areas of functionality complete before moving onto the next one? I quite often find myself getting a bit overwhelmed when I have an involving task on the go (even if it can be broken down into lots of small chunks), even though I know I'm more than capable of doing the work. We have a kind of agile approach Interested to hear how everyone manages things effectively.

    I'm trying to get some information (itemID, title, price and mileage) for multiple listings from ebay website using their api . So far I got this link up http://open.api.ebay.com/shopping?callname=GetMultipleItems&responseencoding=XML&appid=Morcovar-c74b-47c0-954f-463afb69a4b3&siteid=0&version=525&IncludeSelector=ItemSpecifics&ItemID=220617293997,250645537939,230485306218 I've saved the document as .xml file using php curl and now I need to get/extract the values(itemID, title, price and mileage) into arrays and store them in database. Unfortunately I never worked with php dom and I can't figure it out how to extract the values . I tried to follow the tutorial found on IBM website http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/os-xmldomphp/ but I had no success. Some help would be highly appreciated.

  • How to set maxLines and ellipsesize of a TextView at the same time.

    I want to limit my text view to have maximum of 6 lines, so I did: <TextView android:id="@+id/toptext" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:maxLines="6"/> But when I try to configure it to add '...' when the text is truncated, I add android:ellipsize="end". I do see the ... but then my TextView only has a max line of 2, instead of 6. Can you please how can I make the text view of maximum line of 6 and add '...' when it get truncated? Thank you.

  • For business people to manage, keep binary images in MySQL or just the urls?

    Hello everyone: I am working on a task to enable image uploading and auto-scaling(from full sized to thumbnail) by jQuery & PHP. I can naturally come up with two approaches : First, store both images as binary objects directly into MySQL; Second, store only urls to the images and keep the images somewhere on server. The images are for everyone to view, so there are no security restrictions, as far as I know. Personally I don't have any preference, however, at the end of the day, it is the business people that are going to manage the images as part of the system(CRUD). So I am wondering which seems to be a bit better for them? Of course I am building a easy-to-use, visualize web interface for the staff to control the process, but I am not sure if that is enough. Lessons told me that if I don't think for the future and seek the most flexible approach, the I will probably screw myself sooner or later. PS.   • MonoDevelop seems to hang (not unresponsive) when building csprojs

    Building a solution from Visual Studio in mono develop seems to have some issues. I'm hoping someone else has experienced this and has some suggestions. The actual dcms process goes pretty quickly, but in between projects it hangs after printing: Building: XXX.YYY.ZZZ (Debug) After a few minutes (been 10 so far on this current run), it jumps to: Performing main compilation... /Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/2.10.1/bin/dmcs /noconfig "/... Build complete -- 0 errors, 0 warnings Building: XXX.YYY.ZZZ (Debug) Then hangs again for another few minutes. This is a sln file with 29 csproj projects in it that was originally created in Visual Studio 2010. I'm wondering if there is a better way to set this up - potentially a native MD file format?

    I have a class Bar: class Bar { public: Bar(void); ~Bar(void); }; And a class Foo that gets a reference to Bar object as a constructor parameter and needs to save it in a private member bar_ : class Foo { private: Bar& bar_; public: Foo(Bar& bar) : bar_(bar) {} ~Foo(void) {} }; This doesn't compile : overloaded member function not found in 'Parser' missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int Now i suspect couple of things that i need to assure, the second error is for Bar& bar_; declaration in Foo. Do i need to use an explicit constructor when declaring bar_ ? I am interested in learning how the compiler works regarding this matter, so a detailed explanation would be highly appreciated.   • How to prevent the beep sound caused by alt key pressed in a WinForms TextBox?

    I'm creating a routine that allows the user to replicate keyboard shortcuts into a textbox for 'custom keyboard shortcuts' customization, but every time the alt key is pressed with another letter, it produces another sound. I'm capturing the keys in the textbox_keydown event to parse the modifiers + other keys into a readable Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + B manner into that very same textbox. Should I be doing this in a different event like textbox_previewkey instead of textbox_keydown? How can I prevent the alt modifier key + a letter or number causing the Beep sound? the textbox is just a normal .net 3.5 textbox with the only edited properties of it being the ReadOnly property to false. Is there a better way I could re-do this? I'm currently just checking that if any modifiers keys are pressed and then + a-z or 0-9, then to go ahead and input the appropriately pressed keys into that same textbox like Shift + A or Ctrl + Shift + Y.

  • Strange behaviour of NSScanner on simple whitespace removal

    I'm trying to replace all multiple whitespace in some text with a single space. This should be a very simple task, however for some reason it's returning a different result than expected. I've read the docs on the NSScanner and it seems like it's not working properly! NSScanner *scanner = [[NSScanner alloc] initWithString:@"This is a test of NSScanner !"]; NSMutableString *result = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; NSString *temp; NSCharacterSet *whitespace = [NSCharacterSet whitespaceCharacterSet]; while (![scanner isAtEnd]) { // Scan upto and stop before any whitespace [scanner scanUpToCharactersFromSet:whitespace intoString:&temp]; // Add all non whotespace characters to string [result appendString:temp]; // Scan past all whitespace and replace with a single space if ([scanner scanCharactersFromSet:whitespace intoString:NULL]) { [result appendString:@" "]; } } But for some reason the result is @"ThisisatestofNSScanner!" instead of @"This is a test of NSScanner !". If you read through the comments and what each line should achieve it seems simple enough!? scanUpToCharactersFromSet should stop the scanner just as it encounters whitespace. scanCharactersFromSet should then progress the scanner past the whitespace up to the non-whitespace characters. And then the loop continues to the end. What am I missing or not understanding?

  • Struct size containing vector<T> different sizes between DLL and EXE..

    I have this situation where an EXE program imports a DLL for a single function call. It works by passing in a custom structure and returning a different custom structure. Up till now it's worked fine until I wanted one of the structs data members to be a vector < MyStruct When I do a sizeof(vector< MyStruct ) in my program I get a size of 20 but when I do it from inside the DLL I get a size of 24. This size inconsistency is causing a ESP pointer error. Can anyone tell me why a Vector < MyStruct would be a different size in the DLL than in the program? I have reverified that my structs in both the DLL and the Program are identical. I would appreciate any help on the subject. Thank you.

    I'm struggling with writing a python script that automatically grabs the zip fail containing all my google calendars and stores it (as a backup) on my harddisk. I'm using ClientLogin to get an authentication token (and successfully can obtain the token). Unfortunately, i'm unable to retrieve the file at https://www.google.com/calendar/exporticalzip It always asks me for the login credentials again by returning a login page as html (instead of the zip).   • Changing <object> height and width works in Chrome but not Firefox or IE. Why?

    I am making a site with two Youtube videos. These videos use the raw embed code from Youtube. The site's design doesn't work with any of the default Youtube sizes, so I am writing code to automatically resize the video. Here is my code. I have tried using setattribute, for loops, adjusting both and , single-quotes and double-quotes, etc. Any ideas what is going wrong?

    By default, an unstyled set of nested <ul> lists looks like this (in Chrome, Firefox, and IE at least): The top level has a list-style-type of disc, the next level is circle, and subsequent levels are square. If I include a stylesheet that changes the list-style-type to none, is there a simple way to revert back to the "automatic bullet types" later in the document? (e.g., override with a subsequent CSS definition or JavaScript style change) Basically, I'm looking for something like list-style-type: auto; (which is apparently not valid and has no effect): <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: none; } ul { list-style-type: auto; } /* Does not work */ </style> Setting the list-style-type back to disc changes every bullet in the list and I no longer see different bullets at different levels, so that doesn't work either.     We're going to start a new huge project and while it's in the process of architecting the system, I have certain doubts whether I can apply patterns and be sure they won't be violated by team members. The problem is, not all team members have enough skills to develop asp.net apps let's say using MVP pattern. So maybe this question is addressed to Team leads, or experienced devs. Did you dealt with this kind of situation, and if so what was your solution.   • Need help in using Eclipse JEE version to develop a servlet project

    Hi, I have downloaded eclipse jee version (3.5) and I would like to use it to develop a servlet project on tomcat. So I * install tomcat and add it as my server in my eclipse environment. * create a Dynamic Web Project called 'TestServlet' * create a new servlet called 'MainServlet' and then I deploy my project to the tomcat server via eclipse and 'run the server in debug' mode. But when I use the browser to hit 'http://localhost:8080/TestServlet/MainServlet' I see no resource found (that page is generated by Tomcat, so I know my Tomcat is running). Can you please tell me what am I missing? Or how can I trouble shoot my problem? I think it must be some path /name is not set correctly.
