  • how to remove or change background fills in all tables in a microsoft word document

    I have a bunch of large documents, with many tables that have different and inconsistent fill styles - some of them are not readable in black and white when printed. I cannot change the background fill for all the tables at once. The problem I have is that when I open such a document, and Select All, the Table Properties are inactive. Do you know a technique for selecting all the tables, or a method for applying global format of tables, with a script or some other way?

  • Outlook Web Access, reverse proxy and browser

    Hi SF'ers! We recently moved an exchange server behind a reverse proxy due to the loss of a public IP. I've managed to configure the reverse proxy (httpd proxy_http). But there is a problem for the SSL configuration. When accessing the OWA interface with Firefox, all is ok and working. When accessing with MSIE or Chrome, they do not retrieve the good SSL Certificate. I think this is due to the multiples virtual host for httpd. Is there a workaround to make sure MSIE/Chrome request the certificate for the good domain name like FF does?     from what i can gather the mailbox bit of the web interface works fine.. when any of the users go to options (top right) and try to use some of the features such as the Organise Mail Delivery Reports to find messages etc... it comes up with a message .. "An item with the same key has already been added" I've looked in the event viewer and i think its this error - Watson report about to be sent for process id: 7016, with parameters: E12IIS, c-RTL-AMD64, 14.00.0639.021, ECP, ECP.Powershell, https://x.x.x.x/ecp/PersonalSettings/Accounts.svc/GetList, UnexpectedCondition:ArgumentException, c09, 14.00.0639.021.   • Filter data in sheets from a master sheet

    I have a 'master sheet' with lots of furniture data in it, in column A there are the suppliers names. What I would like is to be able to have my master sheet with all the info and then sub sheets named by supplier; in these sub sheets I would like to reference the master sheet and pull out all of the items that are from that supplier. For example: I would have a sheet called 'Ikea' which would look in the master sheet and search the A column for all entries of 'Ikea'. If present, copy or reference that row 1:12 in the 'ikea' sheet. I would like to do it all dynamically using references rather than copying the data. Also, I would like it to auto update rather than having to run a macro to recalculate it each time. Can this be done with formulars rather than macros?

  • Macros in Excel 2010 hangs

    I have a spreadsheet with several macros. Generally, when previously using Excel 2007, a user clicks a button and everything works as expected (calculations, some email sending & file I/O). Typically, the expected run-time is about 90 seconds. The spreadsheet is a xlsm file created with Excel 2007. With Excel 2010 however, the same user process results in a non-responsive excel and forces us to kill excel from the task manager. Some note that I have gathered so far in trying to debug this issue: When monitoring CPU usage, it seems that Excel does start the macro. CPU usage increases as expected to about 47% for a few seconds. Excel.exe than drops to 0% usage and I now have a non-responsive Excel (even after 1 hour). If I set debug break points across modules and different functions and step through the code (after clicking the button) , the process works as expected albeit much slower. To add, there were no exceptions. I am at a complete loss as to what the issue may be. I initially thought it may be the add in that is being used but that was debunked by point 2. This seems to be a very odd situation. I can provide more information if required, but I'm at wits end about the root cause could be. I need help in diagnosing and resolving this issue.

    I have a column of email addresses on sheet 2 col A (but I could put them on sheet 1 if it would make it easier / faster) that I want to remove from sheet 1 col D if matched (there may be 2 or more occurences of the same email to be removed/cleared). (1000s of rows in each sheet). After all day searching forums I’m getting more confused & can't find what I'm looking for.   • How do I copy hyperlink only (and not text) to another cell?

    I have a spreadsheet where column A displays names. There are a few hundred names and each has a different hyperlink (which links to that person's web page). I want to transfer those hyperlinks across to a different column which has different text in and no hyperlinks. Not every cell in column A has a hyperlink. There are groups of cells merged together, so A2:A7 has one link, A8:A13 the next, A9:10 the next (i.e. number of cells merged is not uniform). e.g. where A2:A7 reads "Bob" and links to www.bob.com, I want I2:I7, which reads, "Smith," and does not link to anything, to link to www.bob.com. I want to do this repeatedly, copying links from A2:A579 into I2:I579. The information is copied from a table within a web page, and that is where the hyperlinks come from.

Stop When I press start, I would like it to record the current time with this format: (dd/mm/yy hh:nn:ss:) in a specific column. Then when I press the Stop Button I would like it to record the time again in the cell next to it. Then if I press start Again I would like it to record below the first cells current record.     kitco.com provides a realtime price quote for gold and other metals. I have a spreadsheet which makes calculations based on the price of gold and would like for this realtime value to automatically be updated on my excel sheet. I tried 'get external data' from a website but that didn't work. any ideas? EDIT ADDED: Kitco has a gadget called KCAST which displays realtime quotes on the Windows taskbar. I tried capturing those values from the taskbar but that didn't work either. Maybe if Kitco provided an API or feed, it could be done?

There has to be something simpler.   • Excel controls not visible for certain users

    One of the users of an Excel program I've written is having a weird problem. None of the control objects (Command Button, ComboBox, etc.) are visible to him when he opens the file on his laptop. He is using Excel 2003, the same version I used to create the program, and enables macros using the pop-up when the file loads. I have Googled this, and have found these people who seem to be having the exact same problem, with various versions of Excel. Unfortunately, none of their questions were answered. I can't really explain it any better than this user: If I enter design mode and pull a control from the control toolbar onto a sheet all I see are the drag handles. When not in design mode I have to feel around with the mouse and can click the button which executes the button click code correctly and opens another sheet where again I have to feel around for the buttons to return me to the original sheet. The button I managed to click is now visible but as soon as I click anywhere on the sheet it disappears. I have verified that the visible property of the buttons is set and that the Show All Objects on the Options View tab is selected. If I pull buttons from the Forms toolbar onto a sheet they are visible. If I try to find Objects using F5 when not in design mode Excel reports no objects on the sheet. So, Super Users, can you help? UPDATE: Thanks for your replies, but much like the person in the ozgrid link, the problem has gone away. Not sure why it went, but I can confirm that the user rebooted again and also started up other Excel files that didn't contain controls in the interim. Perhaps that fixed it, or maybe it'll be back again. I'll keep udating with progress, and close if the problem doesn't reoccur for the next few days. Thanks again.

    We have a staff member in sales who has gone onto a 4 day week (getting ready for retirement), so each Thursday afternoon her email needs to be forwarded to another user and each Friday afternoon it needs to be set back. I'm using the VBS script below to do this, run via the Task Scheduler. Although the script appears to do it's job, based on what I see when I view the user's Exchange settings, Exchange doesn't always recognise that the setting has changed. e.g. Last Thursday the forwarding was a enabled and worked correctly. On Friday the script did it's thing to clear the forwarding but Exchange continued to forward messages all weekend. I found that I can force Exchange to honour the changed setting be merely opening and closing the user's properties in ADUC. Of course I don't want to have to do that. Is there a non-manual way I can have Exchange read and honour the setting?     I am having extremely long formulas over an extremely big sheet. At the moment I am tracking the formulas with the Formula Auditing Tool. However, my idea would be to just replace for example in a formula like this: =IF(AND(ROUND($GX19-SUM(0)/$M$12;2)<=0;$AK$7=1);0;$M$12*$M$22/$K$62 My idea would be to replace the excel cell names with the table row names they are in.     Hi, I have an excel sheet for groceries. One column is the name, another is whether to buy it or not (checkbox) and another is the amount. I'd like to have a widget in the top row so that I start typing an item's name and it shows a list of matching items that I can select from, or if I continue to type and there's only one item, completes its name. When the last item is selected, other widgets show the amount, which I can edit and clicking 'check' will check the item in the list.   • Excel: How do I copy hyperlink address from one column of text to another column with different text?

    I have a spreadsheet where column A displays names in a certain format. There are 200-odd names and each has a different hyperlink (which links to that person's web page). I want to reformat the name order so it is "Surname, Name" rather than "Name Surname" and retain the hyperlink in the newly formatted column. I have achieved "Surname, Name" easily by splitting the names into two columns (using LEFT and RIGHT formulae) - forename and surname - then I have a new column with a formula to return "Surname, Name." However, the hyperlinks are not in that new column and I need them. I don't want to do this manually, for obvious reasons. I cannot find a way of copying just hyperlinks from column A without copying the text from column A. So, effectively, what I need is some sort of macro to take, for example, the hyperlink from A2 and copy it to H2, with H2 still retaining the updated ordering of name. I don't have the knowledge to write this myself, so would appreciate solutions.

    I have one worksheet for setting up the data sources of multiple data validation lists. in other words, I'm using this worksheet to provide drop down lists to multiple other worksheets. I need to dynamically update all worksheets upon any of a single or several changes on the data source worksheet. I may understand this should come with event macro over the entire workbook. My question is how to achieve this keeping the "OFFSET" formula across the whole workbook ? Thx To support my question, I put the piece of code that I'm trying to get it working : Provided the following informations : I'm using such a formula for a pseudo dynamic update of the drop down lists, for example : =OFFSET(MyDataSourceSheet!$O$2;0;0;COUNTA(MyDataSourceSheet!O:O)-1) I looked into the pearson book event chapter but I'm too noob for this. I understand this macro and implemented it successfully as a test with the drop down list on the same worksheet as the data source. My point is that I don't know how to deploy this over a complete workbook. For example :- Row 1, Sheet A: A1 B1 C1 D1 E1 F1 G1 H1 I1 To be re-arranged into Sheet B : Row 1 : A1, B1, C1 Row 2 : D1, E1, F1 Row 3 : G1, H1, I1 The Sheet A (database sheet) has a lot of rows (example 3,000 rows), hence the Sheet B is estimated to have 9,000 rows (i.e. 3 x 3,000).   • excel date range help please

    I need help with either a formula or a macro to help automate a grade sheets dates. We have class every monday or wednesday only. I would like to vlookup from a input table of each quarters date range (example Sept. 10 - Oct 24 and the code auto insert the date of every monday and wednesday in a row at the top of my grade sheet. Every year I use the same excel workbook I built to average and rate the grading with no problem, however i can't seem to get this one right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Currently I have to enter each date by hand. Thanks Again for any help.

  • How to make variable range of cells?

    In A column I have a set of numbers (over 1 000). I want to get average of ten of them (a1:a10) and wrtite into next column (B). Now I want to get next ten numbers and get average of them (a11:a20). And so on... How to get this if in C1 i would have number which is range (i.e 10 = a1:a10/a11:a20 ; i.e 25 a1:a25/a26:a50) of the cells? When I change C1 value I want to column B to update automaticaly? Is this possible?
