  • Invert a stack, without using extra data structures?

    How would you invert a stack, without using extra data structures, like a second, or temporary, stack. Thus no stack1-stack2 or stack-queue-stack implementation in the answer. You just have access to push/pop feature of a standard stack. I think there is way to do it by keeping a global counter and using pointer manipulation. If I solve it myself, I will post it. If someone else figures it out, please post your solution.

    I have a "generic" USB IR receiver I purchased off of Ebay to make my life a little easier with XBMC on my Ubuntu box. I am currently running 13.10 and have never tried nor have any knowledge of IR in Ubuntu. I know of lirc, and I know a lot of it is now included in the kernel. My understanding is that lirc in basic terms maps pulses from an remote control to functions - like keyboard or mouse clicks. I believe it must need some sort of driver or something else, but I am completely in the dark on this.     Oddly enough, MSDN has no information on the order preserving properties of data structures. So I've been making the assumption that: Hashtable and Hashset do not preserve the insertion order (aka the "hash" in there is a giveaway) Dictionary and List DO preserve the insertion order. from this I extrapolate that if I have a Dictionary<double,double> foo that defines a curve, foo.Keys.ToList() and foo.Values.ToList() will give me an ordered list of the scope and domain of that curve without messing about with it?

  • What one-time-password devices are compatible with mod_authn_otp?

    mod_authn_otp is an Apache web server module for two-factor authentication using one-time passwords (OTP) generated via the HOTP/OATH algorithm defined in RFC 4226. The developer's has listed only one compatible device (the Authenex's A-Key 3600) on their website. If a device is fully compliant with the standard, and it allows you to recover the token ID, it should work. However, without testing, it's hard to tell whether a device is fully compliant. Have you ever tried other devices (software or hardware) with mod_authn_otp (or other open source server-side OTP program)? If yes, please share your experience :)

    Hi there, Does anyone have any recommendations with localization of core data? My application will have information that will sometimes be the same in both langauges, such as a person's photo, or different such as the person's biography. From what I understand, it's possible to localize the field names (http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/CoreData/Articles/cdUsingMOM.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40005190-SW13), but what's the best course of action for field values?   • iPhone: Speeding up a search that's polling 17,000 Core Data objects

    I have a class that conforms to UISearchDisplayDelegate and contains a UISearchBar. This view is responsible for allowing the user to poll a store of about 17,000 objects that are currently managed by Core Data. Everytime the user types in a character, I created an instance of a SearchOperation (subclasses NSOperation) that queries Core Data to find results that might match the search. SearchOperation is a subclass of NSOperation. It's slow. Even though I have the search happening in a separate thread other than the UI thread, querying 17,000 objects is clearly not optimal. If I'm not careful, crashes can happen. I set the max concurrent searches in my NSOperationQueue to 1 to avoid this. What else can I do to make this search faster? I think preloading all 17,000 objects into memory might be risky. There has to be a smarter way to conduct this search to give results back to the user faster.

While using this control i came across a few issues like - When the tab control loads, it invokes constructor of all the xaml pages that form the individual tabs. Can this be avoided?   • Core-Data + AFNetworking + UI Updating (Responsiveness)

    Here's the scenario: I'm writing a DownloadManager, that allows the user to download, pause, cancel, download all, and pause all. The DownloadManager is a singleton, and uses AFNetworking to download files. It has it's own private managed object context, so that user can freely use other parts of the application (by adding, editing, deleting) core-data objects. I have a core-data entity DownloadInfo that stores the download information i.e. fileURL, fileSize, bytesRead, etc. The DownloadManager updates the download progress in DownloadInfo (one for each file). I have a DownloadManagerViewController which uses NSFetchedResultsController to show the download status to the user. This download view controller is using the main managed object context. Now let's say that I have 20 files in the download queue. And let's say that only 3 concurrent downloads are allowed. The download manager should download the file, and show the download progress. Problem: The DownloadInfo objects are being updated by the DownloadManager at a very high rate. The DownloadManagerViewController (responsible for showing the download progress) is updating the list using NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate methods. The result is that a lot is happening in the main queue and application has very poor responsiveness. How can I fix this? How can I make the application responsive, while showing the download progress? I don't know how else to communicate that the download status between DownloadManager and DownloadManagerViewController. Is there another/ a better way to do this? I don't want to use main managed object context in my DownloadManager, for reasons mentioned above. Note, that the DownloadManager is using AFNetworking which is handling the requests asynchronously, but eventually the DownloadInfo objects are updated in the main thread (as a result of the callback methods). Maybe there's a way to handle the downloads and status update operations in a background thread? but how? How will I communicate between the main thread and the background thread i.e. how will I tell the background thread to queue another file for download? Thanks.

    Hi, I have the input file contains large amount of transactions like Transaction ID Items T1 Bread, milk, coffee, juice T2 Juice, milk, coffee T3 Bread, juice T4 Coffee, milk T5 Bread, Milk T6 Coffee, Bread T7 Coffee, Bread, Juice T8 Bread, Milk, Juice T9 Milk, Bread, Coffee, T10 Bread T11 Milk T12 Milk, Coffee, Bread, Juice i want the occurrence of every unique item like Item Name Count Bread 9 Milk 8 Coffee 7 Juice 6 and from that i want an a fp-tree now by traversing this tree i want the maximal frequent itemsets as follows The basic idea of method is to dispose nodes in each “layer” from bottom to up. The concept of “layer” is different to the common concept of layer in a tree. Nodes in a “layer” mean the nodes correspond to the same item and be in a linked list from the “Head Table”. For nodes in a “layer” NBN method will be used to dispose the nodes from left to right along the linked list. To use NBN method, two extra fields will be added to each node in the ordered FP-Tree. The field tag of node N stores the information of whether N is maximal frequent itemset, and the field count’ stores the support count information in the nodes at left. In Figure, the first node to be disposed is “juice: 2”. If the min_sup is equal to or less than 2 then “bread, milk, coffee, juice” is a maximal frequent itemset. Firstly output juice:2 and set the field tag of “coffee:3” as “false” (the field tag of each node is “true” initially ). Next check whether the right four itemsets juice:1 be the subset of juice:2. If the itemset one node “juice:1” corresponding to is the subset of juice:2 set the field tag of the node “false”. In the following process when the field tag of the disposed node is FALSE we can omit the node after the same tagging. If the min_sup is more than 2 then check whether the right four juice:1 is the subset of juice:2. If the itemset one node “juice:1” corresponding to is the subset of juice:2 then set the field count’ of the node with the sum of the former count’ and 2 After all the nodes “juice” disposed ,begin to dispose the node “coffee:3”.
