• What is the state of ext3 support in Mac OS X 10.6? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Mount ext2/ext3 in Mac OS X Snow Leopard I have a 1tb hard drive, I want it to have one partition that can serve as an interchange between linux (ubuntu) and mac (snow leopard). HFS+ scares me a bit, and I can't seem to get a clear picture on whether or not something like fuse can reliably write ext3 partitions in mac. Any good advice on this topic? Should I just pick HFS+ or ext3 and hope for the best (or just deal with only getting read-only on one OS)?

• TIF opens via IE, but not within a page

  I have a picture: http://www.kconnolly.net/Gallery/Panoramas/Mountainscapes/DSCN2049_stitch_sm.tif Which loads fine when I paste it into my address bar. However, when I embed it within a Page, I get a broken image icon. However, all browsers treat it as a download. Conversely, this image, which was made the same way, works fine when I embed it within a Page.   What is the best method to rip/encode a standard definition DVD, to be streamed to a Xbox360 from a Vista Media Center pc (preferably using free software). I’ve found tons of tutorials on the web explaining how to create wmv’s from vob files using FFMpeg, but every combination of settings that I have tried has resulted in very poor video quality. I’ve also tried various video conmversion tools, but everything seems to result in poor video quality, or audio that is out of sync with the picture. Please help!

  Is there any build in UI for that kind of hardware like it exist in Modern UI for WiFi, Bluetooth, Broadband mobile and other common settings or I'm forced to use separate software (besides the obvious drivers for hardware)? The thing is that I have build-in fingerprint reader in my laptop and I have installed all necessary official drivers for it (and it looks like they are working fine, btw). But I did not find any UI settings where I could change Sign-in option from password/picture password/pin to fingerprint.

• How to recover pixelated text from jpeg in photoshop?

  Hi there, I´ve got an jpeg image with text on it (badly scanned document), which is hardly readable. I have already played around with the sharpen filters, contrast, levels and the color replacement tool, with decent success. however my question is, what else can be done order to maximize the texts readablity? the picture is also somewhat noisy. Any help on this one would be greatly apreciated, since I absolutely need the images content.

  I'm using Firefox 8.0 and am enjoying the Group your tabs feature: But I'm not always good at keeping it organized. I'm trying to find a way to automatically put certain domains in certain groups. Probably through a plug-in? All the tab related plug-ins just help cluster your tabs together and don't actually work with the "Group your tabs" feature (which is why I posted the picture, to avoid ambiguity, since grouping tabs can refer to a lot of things).

  I have a Linux/Ubuntu DLL that depends on libboost_thread-mt.so.1.38.0 (As shown in the picture below). I've tried various ways including building my own version of LibBoost 1.38.0 yet none of my methods have worked. I was wondering if 1.38.0 is available precompiled on earlier versions of Ubuntu or if my architecture (64 Bit) is not compatible with LibBoost. • Computer suddenly dies; screen displays weird flickering lines, then restarts

  I've been having this terrible problem for a little while and just managed to get a picture of 'dead screen' for the first time and I am posting it to seek help. Randomly, at irregular intervals (typically once a week), while working on something (it's been different things every time) my computer will just suddenly go dead - the screen turns to exactly the picture below (the lines flicker a little bit), it hangs there for a few seconds and then restarts. Obviously this is extremely frustrating and I want to try to stop it. I've searched numerous postings with similar keywords but nothing exactly the same as mine. Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause of this? I would post all my system settings and installed programs but the list is long and I don't know how much relevance each item would be. If you'd like to know something specific, please comment and I'll let you know whatever you need. • Is it possible to fix photos that are taken blurred

  I took pictures with a digital camera and I didn't notice that the blur setting is on so the pictures that were taken were all blurred. The camera has no edit feature. Is it still possible to fix it using photoshop? I followed this tutorial on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpWDihBHRqM which uses photoshop but no luck. As much as possible I want to see the output that is close to a picture that is taken without the blur setting on.

• Weird TPS peaks on SQL 2005 replicated database.

  When monitoring the Transactions/Sec using perfmon on one of my SQL2005 replicated databases - I'm seeing the TPS increase to 1000 and then immediately drop back down again - this happens every 5 seconds. I'm not sure what's causing this - is this something to do with replication? We also have asynchronous statistics set on this particular database. • Why did my graphics card explode?

  How did my graphics card "explode" like it did in the picture I have here? And if I was just plugging into my on-board graphics, why wouldn't the PC boot up like it normally would? It wouldn't come up until I opened the cover and removed the card, that's when I found it like this. EDIT: If the card was trying to still operate like this for a while, did it run the risk of damaging the PCI-E slot?

• Pasted image hides behind text even when set to be inline

  I copied an image from MSPaint and pasted it into a Word document I'm working on. For some reason the image hides behind the text even with the default "in line with text" setting. Trying other settings don't work as expected either. It does the same when I insert a picture from a file. Can anyone shed any light what would be causing this and how to fix it - I am guessing some formatting issue in the existing document?

  Is there a way to monitor ec2 instances without using cloudwatch? I ask this since ec2 instances are basically VPS's, and using output from commands like top, vmstat, htop in scripts may not give the clear picture as the CPU cycles are shared between other instances as well. What should one keep in mind while monitoring CPU usage on a VPS?, should one have alerts based on top load or % of CPU used by user processes coupled with other factors like processes waiting on disk io, hardware interrupts?
