    So I'm a smoker, and of course I smoke in front of the computer when I'm at home. On last Friday I moved out from my mothers house to my own, and since the computers were always turned on and the room was a room that everybody could smoke, the smell didn't bother me. At my new home, I turned them on, about 15 minutes ago, and I'm dying because of the smell of cigarette ( this may be kind of stupid from a smoker, but I hope some of you understand ). This solution has to be relatively quick, because I can't stay without the desktop and the server for one week, for example. Tomorrow, I'm going to open them both, and remove all dust there is inside, this should clear some of the smell, but probably won't remove it completely. Does anyone know a technique to get rid of the smell?

    Hiya. I installed outlook express 2007 and i configured it for my e-mail account. it seems that i cannot remove the personal folders and i cannot configure the gmail Mail file to be as default. (it's translated from hebrew so i hope i got the menu words correct) when i go to tools - manage accounts - data files i see 2 files, one for personal folders and the other for my gmail. the personal folder is the default one and i can't remove it and i can't set my gmail mail file to be the default. how can i resolve the issue? thanks!

    I found that in a WebsiteCache directory more than 1.000.000 subdirectories has been created. I want to remove all these directories. My first approach was to use the command line tool: cd WebsiteCache rmdir /Q /S . This will remove all subdirectories except WebsiteCache itself, since it is the current working directory. I noticed after two hours that the directoriws starting with A-H have been removed. Why does rmdir removes the directories in alphabetical order? It must take additional effort to do this ordered. What is a fast way to deleted such an amount of directories?

I've got a log file on an old CentOS 4.x server and I want to remove log entries older than a certain date and place them in a new file for archive. Take the deleted events from step 1 and put them in a new log file (Optional) Compress the new archive log file holding the deleted events. I'm aware that there are log rotate tools that do this but this should just be a one-time task so I'd prefer not to set that up. Additional notes: If the date part it tricky or too resource intensive, an alternative would be to just keep the last X number of lines and move the rest. I was originally thinking of something like tail -n 10000 > newfile.txt but that would mean moving the "good" logs to a new file and then doing a name swap... and then I'd still need to remove the "good" entries from the archive. This particular log file is pretty large (1 GB) so I'd prefer the task to be as resource and time efficient as possible. The extra pipes in the log concern me and I'm not sure if I'd need extra protection in the commands to avoid that from causing problems.

    Long title. Anyway, I haven't been able to find an answer to this question. I know the password to the RAR file, I locked it myself, but now all I want to do is remove the password because it's too much of a pain in the butt to type it in every time. Is there a way to do this in WinRAR or an equivalent program? The only thing I knew to do was to extract it, then create a new RAR without the password. It's not a life-or-death issue, but it would be nice to know. Thanks for your time! EDIT: I just saw a bunch of related questions that appear to ask the same thing. As i see it - others have only read permision for that file so they shouldnot be able to remove it.. :/

    It's already the second time, I have an E-Mail in the outbox of the Mail-app of Windows 8 which is stuck. I don't see the exact reason why this happens (I have no big files attached to the mails and the recipient is valid). The first time I have had this problem, I have not found a simple way to remove the stucked email. I solved the Problem by removing the accounts from the mail app and then adding the same accounts newly to the app. However I'm wondering if there is a more simple way of doing this? Does someone know how to remove an email which is stuck in the outbox?

    I have a open source editor on the cms that I am making that automatically inserts a <br /> tag at the beginning of the post it submits to the database. This makes validation a pain, since even though there is no real text being submitted, the form still accepts the break tag as input and prevents the "Please enter some text" error from showing. So I tried to remove the opening break tag by filtering my input like this: substr($_POST['content'], 6); This works as long as the user doesn't press the backspace a couple of times which removes the break tag in which case the first 8 characters of the post gets removed even if they are not a break tag. So how can I remove the first 6 characters of the input ONLY if those first 6 characters are composed of the break tag. Also I don't want to remove all break tags, only the one at the very beginning of the post.

Every thing seems alright, but some times the browser crashes when he tries to remove the old page containing a Flash object. I suppose this is because Flash is still executing the Flash object. My question is simple. How do i remove this Flash's object for my page without having the browser crashing on my face ? Is there a way to stop the Flash execution before removing the object ?     Hi, I am creating an eclipse project, which generates a lot of files I don't want to keep under version control. For example, it creates a project folder like: project/ bin/ horse.class cow.class src/ horse.java cow.java so what I do is add the project folder to svn, like: svn add project this puts everything under control, even the bin and .class files. All of those files will have the little 'a' next to them. How can I simply remove the 'add' status from those files? If I try: svn remove bin/horse.class I have to use the --force option and it deletes the file from disk. Is there a way to simply remove it from source but not delete the file from disk? Thanks

  • Ruby on Rails: How do I remove a gem path? (I have two for some reason)

    I'm looking to remove a gem path (/home/sjsc/.ge/ruby/1.8). For some reason, I have two, and I can't seem to install gems correctly. When I do "gem env", here's what I get: RubyGems Environment: - RUBYGEMS VERSION: 1.3.6 - RUBY VERSION: 1.8.7 (2009-06-12 patchlevel 174) [i486-linux] - INSTALLATION DIRECTORY: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8 - RUBY EXECUTABLE: /usr/bin/ruby1.8 - EXECUTABLE DIRECTORY: /usr/bin - RUBYGEMS PLATFORMS: - ruby - x86-linux - GEM PATHS: - /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8 - /home/sjsc/.gem/ruby/1.8 Any idea on how to remove the "/home/sjsc/.gem/ruby/1.8" from the "GEM PATHS"?
