Should i create a custom User control or should I create a Composite Web Server control. And how about adding a Designer support to the composite control.     Hello EveryOne, i m using asp.NET MVC 2 for my current project and i need to validate form fields both on client and server side. for that i started with DataAnnotations. Now, i figure out that i have to write buddy class for every model or i have to go to designer generated code and put my annotations there (not a good idea though). if someone can suggest me a solution that helps me avoid writing those buddy classes and get the same functionality.     I'm just beginning to use Linq-to-SQL and it's just wonderful to use. The problem is, this software is going to be run on a lot of machines and each machine will have a unique connection string. Is there a way for me to manually set the connection the Linq-to-SQL (.dbml) uses? The way I'm doing things now is creating the .dbml file, and in the graphic designer I'm dragging tables from the Server Explorer to the white board of the .dbml.

    Hello, I know that I can create LINQ Associations without a Foreign Key. The problem is, I've been doing this by adding the [Association] attribute in the DBML file (same as through the designer), which will get erased again after I refresh my database (and reload the entire table structure). I know that there is the MyData.cs file (as part of the DBML) in which I can place my partial extensions etc. to domain objects (to persist even after I refresh the DBML), but I don't know how to create an association there?

    Hello, Can somebody give me a resource (or just explanation? :-) of what "prototype" is and how it works in Javascript. May be comparison with something in Java? (not really necessary).     I created a simple report and uploaded it to my report server. It looks correct on the report server, but when I set up an email subscription, the report is much narrower than it is supposed to be. Here is what the report looks like in the designer. My options so far seem to be: In the designer codebehind of me ADO.Net Entity Model. Create a partial User class and add it there In the AuthenticationService.metadata.cs partial User class. It just does not seem to work no matter where I place the [Key] attribute.

    Hi, If I already have domain classes, and I want to be able persist them using EF via a model first approach how do I do this? For example do I go to the EF designer (in VS2010) and create the model and generate the classes, then go to these EF classes and somehow manually modify them? But then would there be an issue if I needed to change the model and re-create database TSQL from the model for updates? What's the easiest approach?
