  • Need assistance matching a general theme style as well as eCommerce capability

    I'm in the process of acquiring a new design client. They are getting into the business of "auto parts wholesaling" and they want a storefront. My preference is/was to create something from scratch. However, here is an established trend in their particular market (similar parts, layout, etc). They insist on following the existing visual trend, as per the following: http://www.xtremediesel.com/ http://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/ http://www.alligatorperformance.com/ My plan of attack at this point is to find a comparable WP theme and a flexible (but useful) backend/product management. Their current demo site (which their previous developer made a stab at) is using Pinnacle Cart. It is no where near what they need, nor is it intuitive to work with. I was actually considering Magento for its greater abilities but I'm still considering options. That said, my two primary dilemmas are as follows: 1) I need a theme that mimics the general style of those listed. They explicitly said they didn't want anything too clean (e.g. ThemeForest, Woothemes) as it "wasn't rugged or busy looking enough" for their field. 2) I need a WP/Magento/WP e-Commerce (or any one of a host of other) plugin that will allow for bulk import/update of nearly 200,000 products, descriptions and images. I'm not opposed to manually interfacing with the DB for import, but in the end, I need a store/system that doesn't needlessly add 50 tables to accommodate some "wet behind the ears" concept of table normalization and is easy to add to. Anyway, if anyone has any quality suggestions regarding either of these issues, it would be most appreciated. Best.

    I have my online shop, created with WP Ecommerce getting broken after I moved it to another server. I could be sure that the problem comes from WP Ecommerce because when I disable that plugin. I thought it was some kind of permission issue, so I tried to change /tmp permission to 777. Nothing happens. I googled it some more and suspect it might have something to do with fastCGI configuration and stuff. Which I totally don't understand. My googling result mostly suggest me to consult the web hosting provider or even to move to another host. But in this case, I am the owner of the server (VPS with cPanel/WHM). And I don't have any idea how to solve this kind of problem.

  • WordPress > Optimizing a query to show recent posts with a "View All" link when postcount exceeds ma

    I have a setting in my theme that allows the site owner to set the maximum number of posts ($maxPosts) to display in a "Recent Posts" menu. I'm using a custom script to generate the recent posts (because the Recent Posts widget does not highlight the current page, which I need for my css). My menu also is set up to display a "View All" link below the post listing, but only if the actual post count is $maxposts I'm trying to work out the best method for getting the post count and comparing it to $maxposts in order to determine whether or not to show a "View All" link. I'm sure there's probably a better way, but here's my code. I'm looking to optimize it to support very large post counts... $cat=get_cat_ID('excludeFromRecentPosts'); $catHidden=get_cat_ID('hidden'); $myquery = new WP_Query(); $myquery->query(array( 'cat' => "-$cat,-$catHidden", 'post_not_in' => get_option('sticky_posts') )); $myrecentpostscount = $myquery->found_posts; if ($myrecentpostscount > 0) { //show the menu if ($myrecentpostscount > $maxPosts) { //show "View All" link } } I really only need to determine if the total post count from the query is greater than the maxPost setting in order to determine whether to show the "View All" link, so I'm wondering if, in the case there are thousands of posts matching the criteria, to avoid performance issues, I don't need to get a count of all of them. I just need to count up until the point of maxPosts + 1, and that's where I'm struggling a bit because the user could elect to make maxPosts = -1 which means they want to show all posts. But this would be impractical, so I would probably set a upper limit of 20...

The one is from Sun: http://jaxb.dev.java.net/jaxb-maven2-plugin/ the other from Mojo: http://mojo.codehaus.org/jaxb2-maven-plugin/ Has anybody experience with these two plugins, and give a recommendation?   • CurvyCorners in Wordpress Theme only rounds some corners in IE - what am I doing wrong?

    Hi, I'm implementing the CurvyCorners script on a blog I'm developing. The script works in IE on some parts of the blog, but not others.   • Why do I have to unserialize this serialized value twice? (wordpress/bbpress maybe_serialize)

    What am I doing wrong here? I'm serializing a value, storing it in a database (table bb_meta), retrieving it... OK so far... but then I have to unserialize it twice. Shouldn't I be able to just unserialize once?     the bellow function is working fine but I need to run it inside the loop. If done so the post content is actually taken from the last post of my WP_Query. Not from the one that should appear.     At present I am displaying a list of the last 5 posts in a site's blog in its footer using this mysql query: SELECT post_title, guid, post_date FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type = 'post' AND post_status = 'Publish' ORDER BY post_date DESC LIMIT 5 How can I edit this query to restrict the search to a particular category id? I thought it would be as simple as looking for a category field in the posts table but it isn't!

  • Custom Wordpress Post Page Breaks if More Thank 2 Posts?

    I have a very custom template, and it works great if there are 1 or 2 posts on the blog page. But as soon as a 3rd post is added, it alters the structure of the template... Literally moves a div inside of another and I can not understand why. The code for the blog template is here, and a screenshot of the structure as it should be and another showing the misplaced div when a third post is there. Does this make any sense, any ideas?
