  • WPF: Disable ListBox, but enable scrolling

    - by Matt Briggs
Been banging my head against this all morning. Basically, I have a listbox, and I want to keep people from changing the selection during a long running process, but allow them to still scroll. Solution: All the answers were good, I went with swallowing mouse events since that was the most straight forward. I wired PreviewMouseDown and PreviewMouseUp to a single event, which checked my backgroundWorker.IsBusy, and if it was set the IsHandled property on the event args to true.

  • WPF: Selecting the Target of an Animation

    - by Phil Sandler
I am trying to create a simple (I think) animation effect based on a property change in my ViewModel. I would like the target to be a specific textblock in the control template of a custom control, which inherits from Window. From the article examples I've seen, a DataTrigger is the easiest way to accomplish this. It appears that Window.Triggers doesn't support DataTriggers, which led me to try to apply the trigger in the style. The problem I am currently having is that I can't seem to target the TextBlock (or any other child control)--what happens is which the code below is that the animation is applied to the background of the whole window. If I leave off StoryBoard.Target completely, the effect is exactly the same. Is this the right approach with the wrong syntax, or is there an easier way to accomplish this? <Style x:Key="MyWindowStyle" TargetType="{x:Type Window}"> <Setter Property="Template" Value="{StaticResource MyWindowTemplate}"/> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding ChangeOccurred}" Value="True"> <DataTrigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard> <Storyboard BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="0:0:2" Storyboard.Target="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=TextBlock}}" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(Background).(SolidColorBrush.Color)"> <ColorAnimation FillBehavior="Stop" From="Black" To="Red" Duration="0:0:0.5" AutoReverse="True"/> </Storyboard> </BeginStoryboard> </DataTrigger.EnterActions> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style>

  • WPF tree data binding

    - by Am
Hi, I have a well defined tree repository. Where I can rename items, move them up, down, etc. Add new and delete. The data is stored in a table as follows: Index Parent Label Left Right 1 0 root 1 14 2 1 food 2 7 3 2 cake 3 4 4 2 pie 5 6 5 1 flowers 8 13 6 5 roses 9 10 7 5 violets 11 12 Representing the following tree: (1) root (14) (2) food (7) (8) flowers (13) (3) cake (4) (5) pie (6) (9) roeses (10) (11) violets (12) or root food cake pie flowers roses violets Now, my problem is how to represent this in a bindable way, so that a TreeView can handle all the possible data changes? Renaming is easy, all I need is to make the label an updatble field. But what if a user moves flowers above food? I can make the relevant data changes, but they cause a complete data change to all other items in the tree. And all the examples I found of bindable hierarchies are good for non static trees.. So my current (and bad) solution is to reload the displayed tree after relocation change. Any direction will be good. Thanks

  • WPF: Bind/Apply Filter on Boolean Property

    - by Julian Lettner
I want to apply a filter to a ListBox accordingly to the IsSelected property of a CheckBox. At the moment I have something like this. XAML <CheckBox Name="_filterCheckBox" Content="Filter list" Checked="ApplyFilterHandler"/> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding SomeItems}" /> CodeBehind public ObservableCollection<string> SomeItems { get; private set; } private void ApplyFilterHandler(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (_filterCheckBox.IsChecked.Value) CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(SomeItems).Filter += MyFilter; else CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(SomeItems).Filter -= MyFilter; } private bool MyFilter(object obj) { return ... } It works but this solution feels like the old-fashioned way (Windows Forms). Question: Is it possible to achieve this with Bindings / in XAML? Thanks for your time.

  • WPF ListView GridView DisplayMemberBinding Center alignin content

    - by Bigginn
I'm trying to center align data in a ListView/Gridview where I use DisplayMemberBinding. This is (partially) how my gridview looks: <ListView> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridView.Columns> <GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=Timi}" Width="Auto"> <GridViewColumnHeader Content="Tími" Click="GridViewColumnHeader_Click" ></GridViewColumnHeader> </GridViewColumn> </GridView.Columns> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> I tried to use CellTemplate like explained on this page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.controls.gridviewcolumn.celltemplate.aspx but it didn't work and then later I read somewhere that one should never use cellTemplate and DisplayMemberBinding together. So the question is : How do I center the gridview data when I use DisplayMemberBinding to bind the data to the gridview? Thanks in advance.

  • WPF Custom ListBox as Buttons Click not firing

    - by Ryan
I am attempting to have a ListBox of TextBoxes with click events. I have read that one way to achieve this was to have a list of Buttons and call ButtonBase.Click="" on the ListBox. • WPF Visual States and the transitions between them

    - by Mark
I'm trying to define many different states in my app (around 7 in my case) and I have defined each one of them with a "Default Transition" of zero seconds, but the animation that accompanies each state goes for 1 second. When I fire up my app I have a button than goes through the states one by one, when I go "State1" - "State2" it looks perfect, but when I tell my app (which should be in State2 now) to go to "State3" it reverts all the objects in my scene back to their base state, and then animates to "State3", why doesnt it go from "State2" to "State3". I was hoping to only define each state's end position without defining a starting position as this would really take a long time to do. Can this be done? Any examples? Cheers, Mark

  • Trouble displaying an object in WPF

    - by Scott
I'm so new to this that I can't even phrase the question right... Anyway, I'm trying to do something very simple and have been unable to figure it out. I have the following class: public class Day : Control, INotifyPropertyChanged { public static readonly DependencyProperty DateProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Date", typeof(int), typeof(Day)); public int Date { get { return (int)GetValue(DateProperty); } set { SetValue(DateProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Date")); } } } public static readonly DependencyProperty DayNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("DayName", typeof(String), typeof(Day)); public String DayName { get { return (String)GetValue(DayNameProperty); } set { SetValue(DayNameProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("DayName")); } } } static Day() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(Day), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(Day))); } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; #endregion } I've learned that you can't call a constructor that has parameters in XAML so the only way to actually set some data for this class is through the two properties, DayName and Date. I created a ControlTemplate for Day which is as follows: <Style TargetType="{x:Type con:Day}"> <Setter Property="MinHeight" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="MinWidth" Value="80"/> <Setter Property="Height" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="Width" Value="80"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type con:Day}"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectHasEntry" Fill="WhiteSmoke"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" x:Name="textBlockDayName" Text="{TemplateBinding DayName}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" x:Name="textBlockDate" Text="{TemplateBinding Date}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectMouseOver" Fill="#A2C0DA" Opacity="0" Style="{StaticResource DayRectangleMouseOverStyle}"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> I then render it on screen in my MainWindow thusly: <Window x:Class="WPFControlLibrary.TestHarness.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:con="clr-namespace:WPFControlLibrary.Calendar;assembly=WPFControlLibrary" Title="MainWindow" Height="500" Width="525" WindowStartupLocation="CenterScreen"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="80"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <con:Day Grid.Column="1" Height="20" Width="80" DayName="Mon" Date="1"/> </Grid> And what I actually see is, well, nothing. If I put my cursor on the con:Day line of the XAML it'll highlight the correctly sized rectangle in the window but I don't see "Mon" on the left side of the rectangle and "1" on the right. What am I doing wrong? I suspect it's something simple but I'll be darned if I'm seeing it. My ultimate goal is to group a bunch of the Day controls within a Month control, which is then contained in a Year control as I'm trying to make a long Calendar Bar that lets you navigate through the months and years, while clicking on a Day would display any information saved on that date. But I can't even get the Day part to display independent of anything else so I'm a long way from the rest of the functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • WPF - Random hanging with file browser attached behaviour.

    - by Stimul8d
Hi, I have an attached behavior defined thusly,.. public static class FileBrowserBehaviour { public static bool GetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj) { return (bool)obj.GetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty); } public static void SetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj, bool value) { obj.SetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty, value); } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for BrowsesOnClick. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty BrowsesOnClickProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("BrowsesOnClick", typeof(bool), typeof(FileBrowserBehaviour), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(false, new PropertyChangedCallback(BrowsesOnClickChanged))); public static void BrowsesOnClickChanged(DependencyObject obj, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { FrameworkElement fe = obj as FrameworkElement; if ((bool)args.NewValue) { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown += new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } else { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown -= new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } } static void OpenFileBrowser(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { var tb = sender as TextBox; if (tb.Text.Length < 1 || tb.Text=="Click to browse..") { OpenFileDialog ofd = new OpenFileDialog(); ofd.Filter = "Executables | *.exe"; if (ofd.ShowDialog() == true) { Debug.WriteLine("Setting textbox text-" + ofd.FileName); tb.Text = ofd.FileName; Debug.WriteLine("Set textbox text"); } } } } It's a nice simple attached behavior which pops open an OpenFileDialog when you click on a textbox and puts the filename in the box when you're done. It works maybe 40% of the time but the rest of the time the whole app hangs. The call stack at this point looks like this - [Managed to Native Transition] WindowsBase.dll!MS.Win32.UnsafeNativeMethods.GetMessageW(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.Runtime.InteropServices.HandleRef hWnd, int uMsgFilterMin, int uMsgFilterMax) + 0x15 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.GetMessage(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.IntPtr hwnd, int minMessage, int maxMessage) + 0x48 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrameImpl(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame = {System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame}) + 0x8b bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrame(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame) + 0x49 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Run() + 0x4c bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunDispatcher(object ignore) + 0x1e bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunInternal(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x6f bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x26 bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run() + 0x19 bytes Debugatron.exe!Debugatron.App.Main() + 0x5e bytes C# [Native to Managed Transition] [Managed to Native Transition] mscorlib.dll!System.AppDomain.nExecuteAssembly(System.Reflection.Assembly assembly, string[] args) + 0x19 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.Run(bool checkAptModel) + 0x6e bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.ExecuteAsAssembly() + 0x84 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext, string[] activationCustomData) + 0x65 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0xa bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Activator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0x3e bytes Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.Utilities.dll!Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.HostProc.RunUsersAssemblyDebugInZone() + 0x23 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(object state) + 0x66 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext executionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback callback, object state) + 0x6f bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() + 0x44 bytes Now, I've seen this kind of thing before when doing some asynchronous stuff but there's none of that going on at that point. • Opening a file from a pack URI in WPF

    - by cptmorgan
Hi All, I am looking to open a .csv file from the application pack to do some unit testing. So what I would really love is some analog to File.ReadAllText(string path) which is instead X.ReadAllText(Uri uri). I haven't as yet been able to find this. Does anyone know if it is possible to read text / bytes (don't mind which) from a file in the pack without compiling this file to disk first? Oh and btw, File.ReadAllText(@"pack://application:,,,/SpreadSheetEngine/Tests/Example.csv") didn't work for me.. Thanks in advance.. Gav

  • WPF Listview- What would be the best way to display data from different ObservableCollections based

    - by highone
I have three ObservableCollections: CharacterCollection, LocationCollection, and ItemCollection. They are all collections of objects; CharacterCollection is a collection of Character Objects. I need to display, in the listview, information from the collection determined by the user clicking on a button. I would prefer to use databinding, but I don't see a clear cut way to do that with multiple collections containing different types of objects. What would be the best way to easily switch between collections?

  • WPF - DataTemplate to show only one hierarchical level in recursive data

    - by Paull
Hi all, I am using a tree to display my data: persons grouped by their teams. In my model a team can contain another team, so the recursion. I want do display details about the selected node of the tree using a contentpresenter. If the selection is a person, everything is fine: I can show the person name or datails without problem using a simple datatemplate. If the selection is a team I would like to display the team name followed by a list of member names. If one of these members is another team I would like to display just the team name, without recursion... My code here is wrong because it displays data in a recursive way, what is the right way of doing it? Thanks in advance for any help! best regards, Paolo <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding Path=SelectedItem, ElementName=PeopleTree}" > <ContentPresenter.Resources> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type my:PersonViewModel}"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding PersonName}"/> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type my:TeamViewModel}"> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="{Binding TeamName}" /> <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Members}" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ContentPresenter.Resources> </ContentPresenter>

  • Displaying a list of Items in a WPF form using XAML

    - by Dave Colwell
Hi guys, I am attempting to display a list of items (the style and controltemplate for these items are defined elsewhere) and i want to be able to add/remove as many as i want to. As i do not have infinite screen realestate I am displaying these in a ListBox control. This is the screen i have to date: What is going to happen is this. When i click the New button, i want the item to appear in the outlined area. So now for the problem: I want, when i click the New... Button, a new item to appear in the ListBox (outlined). Is it possible to do this using XAML? I am trying to work on seperating the business logic from the interface, so if there were some way to acheive this in XAML i would appreciate it. If not,can i use the custom templated item i have created in C# so that it will appear as the template specifies in the list box instead of like a normal ListBoxItem Thanks in advance!

  • WPF DockPanel doesn't respect the "Filled" control's desired size

    - by Dan Puzey
I have the following Xaml (simplified for brevity, but will repro the problem in Xamlpad or Kaxaml): <DockPanel Width="400"> <TextBlock DockPanel.Dock="Left" TextWrapping="Wrap"> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Vestibulum massa metus, ornare in fringilla nec, fringilla at orci. Nunc pharetra enim sit amet sapien aliquet eu euismod turpis vehicula. Aenean gravida tempus lectus ut ornare. Nullam massa augue, suscipit vel consectetur fringilla, pretium vitae neque. </TextBlock> <Button MinWidth="100" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Left">Hello world</Button> </DockPanel> My problem is that I want the Button to take its minimum 100px of space, and for the text to wrap suitably to leave that space. However, what happens is that the text wraps as close to 400px as possible, and then the Button is clipped. If I Snoop the output I can see that the button is rendering at the desired 100px, but it's being clipped off the side of the DockPanel. If I reverse the Dock (so the button is docked "Right" and the TextBlock fills) then I get the layout I want, but unfortunately that's not an option due to the surrounding layout. Is there something I can do that will make the DockPanel a) not clip and b) layout in a way that respects the MinWidth? Or am I stuck finding an alternative layout mechanism? Thanks in advance!

  • WPF Grid Column MaxWidth not enforced

    - by Trevor Hartman
This problem stems from not being able to get my TextBlock to wrap. Basically as a last-ditch attempt I am setting MaxWidth on my container grid's columns. I was surprised to find that my child label and textbox still do whatever they want (bad children, BAD) and are not limited by my grid column's MaxWidth="200". What I'm really trying to do is let my TextBlock fill available width and wrap if necessary. So far after trying many variations of HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" on every known parent in the universe, nothing works, except setting an explicit MaxWidth="400" or whatever number on the TextBlock. This is not good because I need the TextBlock to fill available width, not be limited by some fixed number. Thanks! <ItemsControl> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <StackPanel /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition MaxWidth="200" SharedSizeGroup="A" /> <ColumnDefinition MaxWidth="200" SharedSizeGroup="B" /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Label VerticalAlignment="Top" Margin="0 5 0 0" Grid.Column="0" Style="{StaticResource LabelStyle}" Width="Auto" Content="{Binding Value.Summary}" /> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" Margin="5,8,5,8" FontWeight="Normal" Background="AliceBlue" Foreground="Black" Text="{Binding Value.Description}" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" TextWrapping="Wrap" Height="Auto" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl>
