    Given the following example input on STDIN: foo bar bar baz === qux bla === def zzz yyy Is it possible to split it on the delimiter (in this case '===') and feed it over stdin to a command running in parallel? So the example input above would result in 3 parallel processes (for example a command called do.sh) where each instance received a part of the data on STDIN, like this: do.sh (instance 1) receives this over STDIN: foo bar bar baz do.sh (instance 2) receives this over STDIN: qux bla do.sh (instance 3) receives this over STDIN: def zzz yyy I suppose something like this is possible using xargs or GNU parallel, but I do not know how.

    Ok, so the initial search in StackOverflow shows nothing related for this question. So here it goes: Let's pretend for a moment that you're just getting started in a career in computer programming. Let's say that, for whatever reason, you decide to use the .Net framework as a basis for your programming. Let's also say that you've been exposed to some programming background, but not one in .Net, so it seems foreign to you at first. And lastly, you don't have the benefit of 25 years of exposure to the Win32 API, which explains why it seems so foreign to you when you start looking at it. So the questions are: What is a comprehensive overview of what .Net is? It appears to be a combination of a runtime environment, a set of languages, a common set of libraries, and perhaps a few other things...so it's about as clear as mud. Specifically, what are the key components to .Net? What is the easiest way to understand .Net programming with regard to available APIs? Which language would best suit beginning programming out of the "stock" languages that Microsoft has to offer? (C++, C#, VB, etc.) What are some differences between .Net programming and programming in a procedural language (aka Pascal, Modula, etc.) What are some differences between .Net programming and programming in a "traditional" object-oriented language? (aka Smalltalk, Java, Python, Ruby, etc.) As I currently understand it, the CLR provides a foundation for all of the other languages to run on. What are some of the inherent limitations of the CLR?     I have a module called MyApp, and another module called MyAppTests which has a dependency on MyApp. Both modules produce APKs, one named MyApp.apk and the other MyAppTests.apk. I normally build these in IntelliJ or Eclipse, but I'd like to create an ant buildfile for them for the purpose of continuous integration. I used "android update" to create a buildfile for MyApp, and thanks to commonsware's answer to my previous question I've been able to build it successfully using ant. I'd now like to build MyAppTests.apk using ant. I constructed the buildfile as before using "android update", but when I run it I get an error indicating that it's not finding any of the classes in MyApp. Taking a que from my previous question, I tried putting MyApp.apk into my MyAppTests/libs, but unfortunately that didn't miraculously solve the problem.     Hello all, I am testing some logic to handle a user uploading a TAR file. When I feed a blank file to tarfile.is_tarfile() it returns True, which is not what I am expecting: $ touch tartest $ cat tartest $ python -c "import tarfile; print tarfile.is_tarfile('tartest')" True If I add some text to the file, it returns False, which I am expecting: $ echo "not a tar" > tartest $ python -c "import tarfile; print tarfile.is_tarfile('tartest')" False I could add a check at the beginning to check for a zero-length file, but based on the documentation for tarfile.is_tarfile(name) I think this is unecessary: Return True if name is a tar archive file, that the tarfile module can read. I went so far as to check the source, tarfile.py, and I can see that it is checking header blocks but I do not fully understand how it is evaluating those blocks. Am I misreading the documentation and therefore setting unfair expectations? Thank you, Zachary

    I made a smart device application in c# and I want to run it at startup (I know how to do that) but the problem is that I can't make my application to run minimized (hidden) on the first time. I've tried this.Hide() and this.Visible = false and also used ShowWindow API with SW_HIDE(6) but non of them worked. It seems it's impossible to use these methods on Form_Load() or in InitializeComponent() to start the application minimized or hidden. anyone can help me with this ?

    Hi, I have a simple PHP-based XSLT trasform code that looks like that: $xsl = new XSLTProcessor(); $xsl->registerPHPFunctions(); $xsl->setParameter("","searchterms", $searchterms); $xsl->importStylesheet($xslDoc); echo $xsl->transformToXML($doc); The code passes the variable $searchterms, which contains a string, as a parameter to the XSLT style sheet which in turns uses it as a text: <title>search feed for <xsl:value-of select="$searchterms"/></title> This works fine until you try to pass a string with mixes in it, say: $searchterms = '"some"'." text's quotes are mixed." In that point the XSLT processor screams: Cannot create XPath expression (string contains both quote and double-quotes) What is the correct way to safely pass arbitrary strings as input to XSLT? Note that these strings will be used as a text value in the resulting XML and not as an XPATH paramater. Thanks, Boaz
