• dump csv from sqlalchemy

  For some reason, I want to dump a table from a database (sqlite3) in the form of a csv file. I'm using a python script with elixir (based on sqlalchemy) to modify the database. I was wondering if there is any way to dump the table I use to csv. I've seen sqlalchemy serializer but it doesn't seem to be what I want. Am I doing it wrong? Should I call the sqlite3 python module after closing my sqlalchemy session to dump to a file instead? Or should I use something homemade?

• iOS 5 fixed positioning and virtual keyboard

  I have a mobile website which has a div pinned to the bottom of the screen via position:fixed. All works fine in iOS 5 (I'm testing on an iPod Touch) until I'm on a page with a form. When I tap into an input field and the virtual keyboard appears, suddenly the fixed position of my div is lost. The div now scrolls with the page as long as the keyboard is visible. Once I click Done to close the keyboard, the div reverts to its position at the bottom of the screen and obeys the position:fixed rule. Has anyone else experienced this sort of behavior? Is this expected? Thanks.

• Good piece of software that can manage the creation of complex web forms, including reporting, etc?

  I have some clients who are requesting for some of their reasonably complex paper-based forms to be converted in to web forms. There's straight Q&A text input stuff, there's questions based around checkboxes, radio boxes, select boxes, maybe the occasional attached image, there's data that has to be entered in a tabular fashion, etc. I am deciding whether I should build a "platform" with properly normalised tables to store all types of form data. But before that, I thought I had better check and see if there is anything like that already on the market. I am looking for a product that can: * Easily create web forms of all types * Store all data in a database * Extensive reporting capability I have had a bit of a look around but there's not a whole lot I can see. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

  Hi! I need to use SET and ENUM types in my CakePHP 1.3 project. I found some advices, but all them are too old (2004-2006) and full of crazy methods, like modifying cake's core files. Also, CakePHP developers said that SET and ENUM types are not supported. Example: I have SET('alpha','beta') field, and I need to use this data as checkboxes in add & edit actions. Is there any way to add normal support (Form helpers etc.) of SET and ENUM fields?

• How Do I Convert text to a WAV file With Inaudible Waveform?

  I am trying to create an audio watermarking system. I figure the best solution is to create an audio file (WAV) based on a unique string of text and then combine this with the original wav. The part that makes this tricky (for me anyway) is: How do I convert the text string to a wav? How do I ensure that the resulting WAV form is inaudible (or at least barely noticeable to the listener). I would prefer this be done server side (via PHP, etc) but if the processing load isn't too much then would be ok with something in Flash or Javascript. I'd be willing to pay someone to create me a workable solution (complete source code that functions as described). Thanks, Scott!

  I've got a Windows Forms control that I'm wrapping with a WindowsFormsHost-derived class to access WPF's data binding functionality. The Forms control exposes properties that indicate its state, along with the standard property-changed event notifier. For example, a Zoom property on the Forms control is accompanied with a ZoomChanged event. In the WindowsFormsHost wrapper, I'm using a DependencyProperty to represent the underlying Windows Forms control property. Binding works as expected going to the control; however, I'm not sure how to correctly propogate property changes from the wrapped control back out to binding subscribers (i.e., the Windows Form control changes its Zoom property and raises the ZoomChanged event). Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Should I be using a different approach?

  I wrote a Windows Form Application in C# and it works well for my computer.   Hi, I am currently using wx.CustomTree, to use to display a series of configuration settings. I generally fill them with wx.TextCtrl / wx.Combobox, to allow the user to edit / enter stuff. I need it to work when you login and press "Remember me on this computer" I'm not sure how to set it up to actually remember your login and keep you logged in when you come back to the app. Is there a way to 'save' the state of the application when you quite it and come back to what you were doing? • In MVC2, how do I validate fields that aren't in my data model?

  I am playing with MVC2 in VS 2010 and am really getting to like it. In a sandbox application that I've started from scratch, my database is represented in an ADO.NET entity data model and have done much of the validation for fields in my data model using Scott Guthrie's "buddy class" approach which has worked very well. However, in a user registration form that I have designed and am experimenting with, I'd like to add a 'confirm email address' or a 'confirm password' field. Since these fields obviously wouldn't exist in my data model, how would I validate these fields client side and server side? I would like to implement something like 'Html.ValidationMessageFor', but these fields don't exist in the data model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• How do I stall until a SharePoint List Item is Deleted with SPLongOperation?

  I have a workflow, which creates a task and deletes it after the task is edited and its useful information acquired. I created a custom edit form for the task, so I have an SPLongOperation that I can use to stall the page. This is necessary, because if I don't stall the page in some fashion, the person will see the task in the task list for the minute moment before the workflow gets to delete the task, and that is bad. So some code to stall the page until the task is fully deleted is necessary. I have currently implemented a solution for this, but I am unsatisfied with the approach. It basically is summed up to a while loop that calls SPList.GetItemById until it throws an error. Delibrately attempting to cause an error doesn't sit well with me, but I cannot think of a faster method for checking this. I'm looking for alternatives that would preferably work faster if not as fast, and preferably without relying on catching exceptions. Thank you in advance!

  I have a wpf tabitem whose data context is set to my object 'Product'. All the controls on this form get their data from 'Product' object. I have a listview whose ItemsSource property is set to a list in my object 'Product.DetailsList'. Listview columns are bound to object properties in 'Product.DetailsList' Up till here everything works fine.   I've successfully implemented form based authentication, and now I want to get the username and password to initialize session object in javamail from servlets. How can I do that? I can getlogin username by using method request.getRemoteUser(), but I don't know how to get the password. If I create any session object like: authentication = new PasswordAuthentication(user,password); Properties props = new Properties(); props.put("mail.host", "localhost"); props.put("mail.debug",true); props.put("mail.store.protocol", "pop3"); props.put("mail.transport.protocol", "smtp"); Session session = Session.getInstance(props, this); then how can I get inbox messages from mail server based upon particular username and password, if I don't pass any password from servlets to PasswordAuthentication object?

  I am using the Elmah Logged event in my Global.asax file to transfer users to a feedback form when an unhandled exception occurs. Sometimes I log other handled exceptions. For example: ErrorSignal.FromCurrentContext().Raise(new System.ApplicationException("Program code not found: " + Student.MostRecentApplication.ProgramCode)); // more code that should execute after logging this exception The problem I am having is that the Logged event gets fired for both unhandled and these handled, raised exceptions. Is there a way to determine, in the Logged event handler, whether the exception was raised via ErrorSignal class or was simply unhandled? Are there other Elmah events that I can take advantage of?

• A database of questions with unambiguous numeric answers.

  I (and co-hackers) are building a sort of trivia game inspired by this blog post: http://messymatters.com/calibration. The idea is to give confidence intervals and learn how to be calibrated (when you're "90% sure" you should be right 90% of the time). We're thus looking for, ideally, thousands of questions with unambiguous numerical answers. Also, they shouldn't be too boring. There are a lot of random statistics out there -- eg, enclosed water area in different countries -- that would make the game mind-numbing. Things like release dates of classic movies are more interesting (to most people). Other interesting ones we've found include Olympic records, median incomes for different professions, dates of famous inventions, and celebrity ages. Scraping things like above, by the way, was my reason for asking this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2611418/scrape-html-tables So, if you know of other sources of interesting numerical facts (in a parsable form) I'm eager for pointers to them. • Passing hash as values in hidden_field_tag

  I am trying to pass some filters in my params through a form like so: hidden_field_tag "filters", params[:filters] For some reason the params get changed in the next page. For example, if params[:filters] used to be... "filters"={"name_like_any"=["apple"]} [1] ...it gets changed to... "filters"="{\"name_like_any\"=[\"apple\"]}" [2] note the extra quotations and backslashes in [2] when compared to [1]. Any ideas? I'm attempting to use this with searchlogic for some filtering, but I need it to persist when I change change objects in forms. I would prefer not to have to store it in session.

• Test wordpress sites for SQL Injection on siteurl

  I have a client who's wordpress sites have gotten hacked twice by iframe scammers. Each time they've injected iframe code into the content of the sites. This last time, today, they simply changed the siteurl in wp_options to their iframe code. The result was obvious and appeared to simply botch the paths of the scripts that rely on I can't determine if its a password compromise (on FTP or WordPress itself) or a SQL injection to alter siteurl. Since the only thing that was altered is siteurl, I'm thinking perhaps SQL Injection. What are your thoughts? Any way to scan a site for potential SQL injection vulnerabilities? The only active plugins on the site are contact form 7 and google xml sitemaps.

• How do i deploy UAT and Development SharePoint solution on the same server ?

  I am working on a SharePoint 2010 Server and i have following items in my SharePoint solution Couple of web parts State Machine Work flow (which will be integrated to an Infopath form library) Infopath task edit forms Lets say this solutions is deployed to http://[SharePoint201Server]:[PortNumber-x]/ This is the only server i have (No extra server for UAT), and what ever has been done so far needs to be given for user acceptance testing (UAT). I may create one more site at http://[SharePoint201Server]:[PortNumber-y]/ for it. My problme is that how do i maintain two copies of my source code ? I will have to continue development on the same set of source code for next UAT release. I simply can not create simple copies of the source code as it will have same Assembly name and feature id, etc..As if i do so, any changes on under Development source code would affect UAT assemblies. One thing i can do is to create seperate projects for UAT and Development with different Features and Assembly names, but is not that too much of an unneccesory work ? What can be the best approach in such situation ?

• ASP.NET Canceling the Default Submit Button

  I have an ASP.NET application where there's a few ASP.NET buttons and several plain HTML buttons. Anytime there's a textbox where a user hits enter, the ASP.NET button trys to submit the form. I know I can change the defaultButton, but I don't want there to be any default button. I just want it so when the user presses enter it doesn't do anything. I've tried setting defaultButton to blank, but that doesn't seem to work and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere on the web. What's the code to make this happen? Thanks.

• Why isn't wchar_t widely used in code for Linux / related platforms?

  This intrigues me, so I'm going to ask - for what reason is wchar_t not used so widely on Linux/Linux-like systems as it is on Windows? Specifically, the Windows API uses wchar_t internally whereas I believe Linux does not and this is reflected in a number of open source packages using char types. My understanding is that given a character c which requires multiple bytes to represent it, then in a char[] form c is split over several parts of char* whereas it forms a single unit in wchar_t[]. Is it not easier, then, to use wchar_t always? Have I missed a technical reason that negates this difference? Or is it just an adoption problem?
