    I am trying to setup a menu programatically and my method gets com.actionbarsherlock.view.Menu menu as a parameter. As I want to change the styling of the menu item I am trying to setup a SpannableString spannable and pass it to add. menu.add(0, MENU_ABOUT, 0, spannable); This is causing a crash only in ICS when I cick that menu item. Any ideas if I am missing something. Thanks Here is the code I am trying and it crashes when I run the app and select "About Application". FYI, I am using SpannableString because I want to add some styling and color to the menu item.     Suppose I have following code in linux: int main() { FILE* f = fopen("file.txt", "w"); fork(); fwrite("A", 1, 1, f); fclose(f); return 0; } What I know about fork from documentation, is that it makes the copy of current process. It copies state of the memory as well, so *f should be equal in both instances. But what happens with system resources, such as a file handle? In this example I open the file with write intentions, so only one instance can write into file, right? Which of the instances will actually write into file? Who should care further about the file handle, and call fclose() ?

  • Customized generation/filtering resources with maven

    I wonder what is the Maven way in my situation. My application has a bunch of configuration files, let's call them profiles. Each profile configuration file is a *.properties file, that contains keys/values and some comments on these keys/values semantics. The idea is to generate these *.properties to have unified comments in all of them. My plan is to create a template.properties file that contains something like #Comments for key1/value1 key1=${key1.value} #Comments for key2/value2 key2=${key2.value} and a bunch of files like #profile_data_1.properties key1.value=profile_1_key_1_value key2.value=profile_1_key_2_value #profile_data_2.properties key1.value=profile_2_key_1_value key2.value=profile_2_key_2_value Then bind to generate-resources phase to create a copy of template.properties per profile_data_*, and filter that copy with profile_data_*.properties as a filter. The easiest way is probably to create an ant build file and use antrun plugin. But that is not a Maven way, is it? Other option is to create a Maven plugin for that tiny task. Somehow, I don't like that idea (plugin deployment is not what I want very much).

I would like the ImageView's height to dynamically increase depending on the max height of the screen. I'm aligning the layout containing the buttons along the bottom of edge of the screen, and I would like the rest of the screen taken up by the above ImageView. Also, since the ImageView contains a centered image, I would also like to set min height, and a scrollbar if the screen is too small to display the imageview and the buttons below. Thanks! Is this possible?

Please add a root view or layout to your document." and I noticed there is a new file generated called "activity_main.out.xml". What could I be doing wrong?

  • EGL initialized failed

    Hello Everybody, I used a SurfaceView and EGL to render my 3D contents. When I press BACK and return my activity, the activity's 3D objects become to white. The reason is when the original activity(3D activity) resume, EGL would initialize again. So EGL would initialize and destroy everytime when different activities switch. I am not sure if the problem is EGL initialize twice... but I did initialize and destroy EGL correctly. Anybody have this problem ? Have any solutions about this ?? Thank you so much

    HI Here's a thing I don't understand and hopefully someone will point to me. In my android development project under the folder res there are all the resources my application uses. The size is 3.11 mb and contains 1013 files . On the other hand in the apk there is the folder res with all the resources ass well , but this has a size of only 760 kb and contains only 332 files . Now does this means that not all the resources are packed ? If this is the case what happens when a needed resources is referenced ?

  • Is it possible to start an activity from a regular java class?

    In my ActionBarSherlock I have the same menu items for all activities, so it seems unwise to define onClick handlers in each activity - they all do the same. Instead I created a class called MyClickListener that implements com.actionbarsherlock.view.MenuItem.OnMenuItemClickListener, and in there I have a simple switch block that starts the appropriate activity. Problem is that Intent constructor's first argument is of type Context, and even when I pass this to MyClickListener's constructor, I can't start any activity. The same goes for every method that has a Context object as a parameter. Is there a way to work around it? What is a context object? Thanks

    I really like the look and feel of the Preference UI items and want to replicate that in my application. Basically I've got an Activity with a couple LinearLayouts set to be focusable. When they are focused, I want them to turn green (like Preferences do). Any idea how to apply that style to my LinearLayouts? Note: The LinearLayouts are essentially going to be clickable 'buttons' to launch a separate activity. They are NOT actual preferences or buttons, although they need to look/act similar to them.)

  • Expose jar resources over web

    I have a web-service (with Spring-WS). I have a jar with several schemas (schema1.xsd, schema2.xsd and schema3.xsd) which I include in my web service. Is there a way to expose the schemas from the jar through a servlet somehow in my web-service wep app? My Spring MessageDispatcherServlet is mapped to /ws/ I would like my schemas to be exposed to /schemas/schema1.xsd /schemas/schema2.xsd and so on. I have an idea how to do it with a servlet, but it's too verbose and there has to be a nicer way. The way I am thinking is have a servlet filter and everything that hits /schemas/ check if it is in my list of allowed resources and display it. This has to be a server agnostic solution. (For instance http://tuckey.org/urlrewrite/ will not work). Thanks.

    I'm stuck while changing some properties on my options menu at onCreateOptionsMenu(). It seems like findItem() returns null, even though I'm pretty sure that the reference to the menu item is correct. When an item on the listview is clicked it starts a new activity showing the details of the item that was clicked. When the back button is pressed the listview is not displayed again.     When compiling my app I get the following error: android-apt-compiler: ... \res\values-v14\styles.xml:12: error: Error retrieving parent for item: No resource found that matches the given name '@android:style/TextAppearance_Holo_Large. The code it is complaining about is: <style name="Title" parent="@android:style/TextAppearance_Holo_Large"> <item name="android:layout_height">wrap_content</item> <item name="android:layout_width">wrap_content</item> </style> I checked my manifest file and I have set the SDK to: <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="14" android:targetSdkVersion="17" /> Which i believe allows for using the Holo Themes. I am using Android Studio though I doubt that is the cause of the error. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
