I'm looking for a way to identify top resource consuming queries in SQL Server 2000.
Is thre a way to do that other than Sql profiler or a third party monitoring tool like Quest?
I have Nagios, and I want it to stop monitoring instances when they are stopped from the console. The requirements are:
The message passed from AWS is 100R% reliable, e.g. when Nagios is down, and the message cannot be delivered, it will be re-delivered promptly when Nagios is up
The message will pass quickly
There is no need to scan status of all instances via EC2 API all the time, but only once a while
Many thanks!
Visual Studio 2010 has official Extensions for SharePoint 2010, which also includes MSBUILD .targets.
I'm setting up a Continuous Integration Server at the moment, and msbuild can't compile my SharePoint projects as these targets are missing.
Before I start manually identifying and copying over the SP stuff, I wonder if there is a standalone version so that I don't have to install VS2010 on my CI Server?
I need a freeware to monitor my internet activity, especially upload and download amounts over time. For instance, I like to see a graph or table that shows the downloaded and uploaded amounts per day, week or month and in total for a selected period.
OS: Windows XP, Vista, 7
Edit: I don't need to see the traffic program by program. I'm not interested in which program accesses the internet, but I'm interested in monitoring my incoming and outgoing data amounts using a light-weight freeware.
Could you please tell me what this error says?:
Can't locate JSON/RPC/Client.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.14.2 /usr/local/share/perl/5.14.2 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 /usr/lib/perl/5.14 /usr/share/perl/5.14 /usr/local/lib/site_perl .) at ./transmission_ line 3.

This is a perl plugin for munin system monitoring tool.
I'm using ubuntu server 12.04
I've looked at a lot of various jQuery plugins that I thought I could tweak to get working the way I want but so far have been unsuccessful. I'm not sure if there is a plugin out there that meets these requirements or if I should just write my own (although I'm a bit of a novice!).
The requirements:
Scroll HTML containers left/right infintely in a loop/carousel
Scrolling action is triggered by mouseover on arrows
Scrolling action must be continuous during mouseover (i.e. doesn't pause after each container)
Number of containers is flexible
Intel NICs have a driver option (in Windows) that will log link state events to the system log, so if the network drops out periodically you can determine that fact.
Does anyone know of a simple generic solution that does this, in other words one that is not part of the driver from a particular manufacturer?
I know there are plenty of 'big iron' network monitoring tools out there but surely there's something really simple that runs as a service in Windows with minimal setup ?
TIA
I need to implement a gateway that will allow me to control the access to the internet of a network made up of a about half a dozen of workstations. My main obejectives are the following:
1- Monitoring of traffic
2- Logging of traffic
3- Access control - block websites (mainly adult) and certian traffic(example torrents)
4- Possibly cache content
5- Easy management interface
6- Preferable free and opensource
Serverfault users can you please suggest from your vast experience which software you think is the best to suit my needs?
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
We programmers generally need to work for long continuous hours, which turns our brain battery down. What things you do to keep your brain fresh and concentrated?
I am currently in the process of setting up ndepend report generation as part of Continuous Integration build process using CruiseControl.Net, I have followed the instructions outlined in ThoughtWorks Website.
The ndepend tasks runs fine and the reports are generated correctly but when I goto the dashboard and try to bring up the ndepend reports, nothing comes up (it displays blank). Does the cruisecontrol dashboard application expects the ndepend report in a particular file under the working folder or the artifact folder ?
I have a fo:table defined with border="1px solid black". Some rows in the table have cell background-color="green". At different zoom levels, the border is not continuous- on some colored rows, it disappears from the right sometimes. At another zoom level they appear fine.
Any idea what's going wrong?
Thanks
Luanne
I have a somewhat complicated looking Access Form with a continuous display (meaning multiple records are shown at once). I'd like to change the background color of the selected record only so the end-user can easily tell which record they are on.
I'm thinking of perhaps a conditional format or maybe something like this:
Private Sub Detail_HasFocus()
Detail.BackColor(me.color)=vbBlue
End Sub
and something similar for when that row loses focus. This code snippet obviously won't work, but it's the kind of code I'd like to achieve.
We have had several cases of file deletion in one of our windows file servers. Server is also a domain controller. Unfortunately we kept the auditing disabled completely due it being such a resource hog.
So I was wondering If there is a way to audit a specific folder for a specific security group, for just file and folder deletions within the specified folder.
Also is there a recommended third party application for auditing or monitoring.
Many Thanks.
I'm looking to find a way to update some Windows Defender settings via command line, gpo etc.
From my research it looks like windows defender creates a hidden scheduled task named 'MP Scheduled Scan', but modifying this task does not seem to make a difference as to what shows up in the Windows Defender UI.
I have also done some process monitoring to see what data Windows Defender uses and I can see that it reads/writes to the 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scan' ScheduleDay key, but if I attempt to modify this key, I get an "Error Writing the new values contents" error message.
Hi All,
I want to set the starting slide manually for the cycle plugin without using pager. It is not working for me.
Code:
$('#divTrac').cycle({
fx: 'scrollHorz',
speed: 1500,
next: '#leftt',
prev: '#rightt',
startingSlide: 2,
timeout: 0, continuous: false,
pause: 1, sync: 1,
nowrap: 1,
slideExpr: '#myTrack'
});
Hi all,
I'm new to both OpenManage and System Center, but it sounds as if they're geared towards similar problems/goals. Are the features comparable enough that OpenManage can be forgone completely in favor of System Center products?
Specifically I'm hoping to achieve storage monitoring and remote administration, although if someone with experience with both wants to provide a quick compare/contrast (objective, of course) I won't complain.
Thanks!
I want to copy one directory and the two files under it to another shared location of shared storage. Is it possible to combine the three(one directory and two files) as a continuous file writing and decompose it at another side to save the cost? I am limited to c language and Unix/Linux. I am considering to create a structure with the inode info and get the data at receiver.
Thanks!
When monitoring the Transactions/Sec using perfmon on one of my SQL2005 replicated databases - I'm seeing the TPS increase to 1000 and then immediately drop back down again - this happens every 5 seconds.
I'm not sure what's causing this - is this something to do with replication?
We also have asynchronous statistics set on this particular database.
I've tried profiling when the users are not connected - but nothing is writing to the database.
ADDED PICTURE AND BOUNTY
As I understand it, the limitation of 255 characters in a file path is a Windows limitation. What is the reasoning for this? If so, has this been resolved in Windows 7?
In our continuous integration practices, we often have deeply nested project structures and it would be extremely useful to be able to go beyond 255 characters. Right now we are somewhat forced to structure our projects in such a way as to not hit this artificial ceiling.
I know a few common patterns that seem to bedevil nearly every project at some point in its life cycle:
Inability to take outages
Third party components locking out upgrades
Non uniform environments
Lack of monitoring and alerting
Missing redundancy
Lack of Capacity
Poor Change Management
Too liberal or tight access policies
Organizational changes adversely blur infrastructure ownership
I was hoping there is some well articulated library of these anti-patterns summarized in a book or web site. I am almost positive that many organizations are learning through trial by fire methods. If not let's start one.
Hi,
I installed monit on my server and tried to monitor nginx.
check process nginx with pidfile /var/run/nginx.pid
start program = "/etc/init.d/nginx start"
stop program = "/etc/init.d/nginx stop"
group server
And I get
Process 'nginx'
status Changed
monitoring status monitored
data collected Wed Mar 24 00:37:49 2010
What does "Changed" mean? I couldn't find anything.
Thx
In an application in Silverlight I'm working on, I need to track the moves of the mouse. My problem is that using the MouseMove event, I don't have a continuous set of points if the user moves the mouse fast enough (if I add each point in a list I can have (10,10) en then (20,20)...)
I'd like to have ALL points where the mouse has been during the move.
Do you have any idea ?
Is there a linux command, that works like "top" (like top does for monitoring processor utilization), but shows network activity of users and applications realtime?
I have to retrieve an ID and last_name from my table, but my ID is not continuous and there no pattern for the gaps. How do I write a PL/SQL anonymous block for this?
