    Hi folks, I am (was) using an install of Win7 on the C Disk Partition, I formatted the D Disk Parition, and now Win7 fails to bootup. I suspect the bootup config files were stored within the D Partition, despite the install residing on the C Partition. Any ideas on how I can fix this? :)

  • Excel - Filling images using a reference image

    I have a spreadsheet that I use to create baseball cards for a tabletop baseball game. There are about 20 cards on my sheet, and I'd like to add a spot where I can set the logo and have it reflect that logo in each card without having to update 20 different images each time I create cards for a new team (and thus, a new logo). Is there a way to automate this process similar to setting one cell equal to the value of another (=A4, for instance)? I think the images aren't part of a cell and they float on top of the sheet, but I had hoped there was a way either with a macro or other VBA function (or maybe something built-in) that would accomplish this.

  • What do you use for a RAM disk on Windows Server?

    We currently use AR Soft RAM Disk on some Windows 2003 servers for storing short lived temporary files. Looking forward to a move to 64-bit Windows Server 2008 I'm wondering what options there are for a RAM disk since it appears AR Soft RAM Disk was discontinued in 2005. I'm not looking for any physical disk backing, just a pure RAM disk that appears like a normal drive to Windows. Does anyone have any experience with RAM disks on Windows Server 2008, especially for 64-bit?

  • Disk IO causing high load on Xen/CentOS guest

    I'm having serious issues with a xen based server, this is on the guest partition. It's a paravirtualized CentOS 5.5. The following numbers are taken from top while copying a large file over the network. If i copy the file another time the speed decreases in relation to load average. So the second time it's half the speed of the first time. It needs some time to cool off after this.   • Do I dare clicking Delete Volume instead of Delete Partition?

    I have a VMWare machine with one VM. That VM has a virtual disk which in windows is configured with two partitions and then a lot of slack space, as illustrated here: http://piclair.com/q8g5s What I want to do is delete the partition of 639 GB. However, since it's a dynamic disk, the right menu item says "Delete Volume" instead of "Delete Partition" (when I right click the 639GB space). My question is weather I dare to use "Delete Volume". I have read doing stuff like this on a dynamic volume can cause other partitions/volumes to go corrupt.

  • Apple Automator "New PDF from Images" maintaining same filename

    I will potentially have 26k of old legacy PICT images to transfer first to PDF for migration. I am using Apple Automator and also the "Dispense Items Incrementally" to loop through it. However, I can't seem to let "New PDF from Images" to remember the original filename. Anyone able to offer some advice :) FYI, I am transforming it to PDF because I can't do it using ImageMagick to convert directly to my ultimate JPEG format. Due to the fact that my PICT was created very long ago and thus has some convert: improper image header error. See this ticket for more information. Thus I am doing a intermediate convert PICT to PDF first, then convert that PDF to JPEG :) The only thing left is the naming of the "Output File Name" which do not allow me to identify original filename.   • Auto-resize images in Opera

    Is there a setting that I can configure to automatically scale large images like Firefox does? I'm using Opera 10.53, and when I open a large image in a new tab, it is not scaled at all. I'm on a laptop, so it is hard to view, and when I am viewing multiple images, it is tedious to scale each image down to 20% or whatever fits it best. I found this thread, and for a fleeting moment thought I had found the answer, but apparently not. They just told the poster to manually resize. Thanks.

    Hello, Just upgraded an old box to Ubuntu to 10.04.2 LTS. Apache will not display images to a browser that are over about 2K. Small images seem to display fine. Static HTML and PHP continues to works fine as well.     I want to make short timelapse video using ffmpeg under ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I have a folder containing all images with names DSC_0000.jpg DSC_0001.jpg and so on. I found this question ffmpeg: create a video from images and I try to run the same command as mentioned there: ffmpeg -i DSC_%d.jpg -vcodec mpeg4 timelapse.avi and it fails with DSC_%d.jpg: No such file or directory I've also tried ffmpeg -i DSC_%04d.jpg -vcodec mpeg4 timelapse.avi and it fails with the same error And also for some reason my ffmpeg does not understand option -start_number, if I run ffmpeg -start_number 0 -i DSC_%d.jpg -vcodec mpeg4 timelapse.avi I get this error: Unrecognized option 'start_number' Failed to set value '0' for option 'start_number' I would appreciate any help

    I'm looking for software to create street map images that show the route from address 1 to address 2. It needs to be able to create the map images from either a database file that contains the addresses, a delimited text file that lists the addresses to route in each row, or an Excel file. I need to do this to create custom maps in bulk- 500 to 20,000 quantity from the data file. The purpose is to provide a map with a route from a location (address 1) to a retail store (address 2). The maps will be printed on a postcard. I have the data. I just need the mapping software. Is there software available that can do this?

    I'm in a process of renewing/expanding my disk sets, but not quite sure what kind of disks to get, cache-wise. What difference does disk cache amount of 16/32/64MB do, in capacities of, say, 1/1.5/2TB SATA disks? The disks will be used in a webapp server and in a media workstation, with Linux's softraid in raid-1/raid-5 configurations. Note, that as both purposes are purely for a hobby, the pricetag for a dozen of disks is a big issue.

  • Fedora 11 System - Failed Hard Drive Removed, and Boot gets GRUB Hard Disk Error

    Greetings, I have a machine with a 120GB ATA drive that has what I thought to be non-essential data on it. I also have a 320GB SATA hard drive with the OS/Application/Files (good data I want to keep). My 120GB ATA is failing I believe, as my computer kept slowing to a halt. However, when I move the drive from BIOS my computer will not start, says "GRUB Hard Disk Error". I know that my Fedora system has an LVM setup. I am looking to just remove the 120GB drive from "the mix", and just have one hard drive. How do I recover ? Thank you. I have access to a Linux Live CD right now and can make any changes.   • Is there a way to sharpen low quality images

    I have a lot of images for a project that are not really sharp and crisp. I think these were old images that were resized a lot etc. This is because I am working on a website for a client and she does not have the high quality pictures anymore, the pictures I have to work with are somewhat pixelated. Ill show you an example of one I think could be better: Now as you can see the parts around the text 'Azule' is not so sharp. Is there a way to sharpen this. Now I have another one, and I think there is no hope for this one. Is there any hope for the picture above to make it sharp again, I highly doubt it.

    Hello I'm using OSXplanet (which is a mac app based on xplanet) to view satellite and rendered images of the earth (or other planets) as the desktop background on my laptop. The images and data refresh regularly as data is updated, such as cyclones, clouds, weather, volcanoes, etc. I have Cloud Data set to refresh every 3 hours, but the resulting image never changes. By default, OSXplanet seems to be trying to get image data from Iowa State University. Can I modify OSXplanet to set it to pull cloud image data from a different server location listed on http://xplanet.sourceforge.net/clouds.php? Thanks Turgs

    Hi, Are there software you know that can copy images from a DVD? now the problem is there images in the DVD that are corrupt that I won't force to copy, If the software can recover the file and copy it that would be cool, If it cannot then skip the file. The dvd is kinda large and I don't want to sit and wait there. I want the DVD do the decision, If it can recover then recover if it cannot, then skip.
