• Problem with Clojure function

  Hi, everyone, I've started working yesterday on the Euler Project in Clojure and I have a problem with one of my solutions I cannot figure out. I have this function: (defn find-max-palindrom-in-range [beg end] (reduce max (loop [n beg result []] (if (>= n end) result (recur (inc n) (concat result (filter #(is-palindrom? %) (map #(* n %) (range beg end))))))))) I try to run it like this: (find-max-palindrom-in-range 100 1000) and I get this exception: java.lang.Integer cannot be cast to clojure.lang.IFn [Thrown class java.lang.ClassCastException] which I presume means that at some place I'm trying to evaluate an Integer as a function. I however cannot find this place and what puzzles me more is that everything works if I simply evaluate it like this: (reduce max (loop [n 100 result []] (if (>= n 1000) result (recur (inc n) (concat result (filter #(is-palindrom? %) (map #(* n %) (range 100 1000)))))))) (I've just stripped down the function definition and replaced the parameters with constants) Thanks in advance for your help and sorry that I probably bother you with idiotic mistake on my part. Btw I'm using Clojure 1.1 and the newest SLIME from ELPA.

• Cisco access-list confusion

  I'm having troubles implementing access-lists on my asa 5510 (8.2) in a way that makes sense for me. I have one access-list for every interface i have on the device. The access-lists are added to the interface via the access-group command. let's say I have these access-lists access-group WAN_access_in in interface WAN access-group INTERNAL_access_in in interface INTERNAL access-group Production_access_in in interface PRODUCTION WAN has security level 0, Internal Security level 100, Production has security level 50. What i want to do is have an easy way to poke holes from Production to Internal. This seams to be pretty easy, but then the whole notion of security levels doesn't seam to matter any more. I then can't exit out the WAN interface. I would need to add an ANY ANY access-list, which in turn opens access completely for the INTERNAL net. I could solve this by issuing explicit DENY ACEs for my internal net, but that sounds like quite the hassle. How is this done in practice? In iptables i would use a logic of something like this. If source equals production-subnet and outgoing interface equals WAN. ACCEPT.

  I have an interface like this public interface EventBus{ public void fireEvent(GwtEvent<?> event); } and test code(testng method) looks like this: @Test public void testFireEvent(){ EventBus mock=mock(EventBus.class); //when both Event1 and Event2 are subclasses of GwtEvent<?> mock.fireEvent(new Event1()); mock.fireEvent(new Event2()); //then verify(mock).fireEvent(argThat(new Event2Matcher())); } Event2Matcher looks like this: private class Event2Matcher extends ArgumentMatcher<Event2> { @Override public boolean matches(Object arg) { return ((Event2) arg).getSth==sth; } } But get an error indicating that: Event1 can't be cast to Event2 And obviously,the matcher matched the first invoking mock.fireEvent(new Event1()); So,the statement within matcher return ((Event2) arg).getSth==sth; Will throw out this exception.So the question is how to let verify(mock).fireEvent(argThat(new Event2Matcher())); to match the second invoking?

But how do you link to an assembly in .NET? Does he mean, load the assembly using Reflection (Assembly.LoadFile())? Or, the Win32 API LoadLibrary()? Or, does .NET have a linker that I have never heard of?

  I hope someone can help me. I have the following custom server control: [ParseChildren(true)] public class MyControl : WebControl, INamingContainer { [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] public string MyProperty { get;set; } } It works perfectly with the following mark-up: <acme:MyControl runat="sever"> <MyProperty>Test String</MyProperty> </acme:MyControl> But if I try to localise the property string, I get a parse error: <acme:MyControl runat="sever"> <MyProperty><%=(string)GetLocalResourceObject("MyResourceKey") %></MyProperty> </acme:MyControl> Even if I cast the type, ASP.NET indicates that the property cannot accept controls as children. How should the expression look like if I want to localise it? I can make the property accessible as an attribute of the control's tag, but I prefer the mark-up above, it looks more elegant and clean. • Storing object as a column in LINQ

  Hello, i have some class which constructs itself from string, like this: CurrencyVector v = new CurrencyVector("10 WMR / 20 WMZ"); it's actually a class which holds multiple currency values, but it does not matter much. I need to change type of column in my LINQ table (in vs 2010 designer) from String to that class, CurrencyVector. If i do it - i get runtime error when LINQ runtime tries to cast String as CurrencyVector (when populating the table from database). Adding IConvertible did not help. I wrapped these columns in properties, but it's ugly and slow solution. Searching internet gave no results.

  I am using Java Reflection to expose methods in custom eclipse tool. I am writing method getReturnType which accepts java.lang.reflect.Method as input and returns object of Class private static Class<?> getReturnType(Method method) { Type type = ((ParameterizedType)method.getGenericReturnType()).getRawType(); return getClass(type); } This code compiles well but at runtime i get the below exception while casting Type to ParameterizedType. java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.Class cannot be cast to java.lang.reflect.ParameterizedType Please suggest. • PHP float bug: PHP Hangs On Numeric Value

  I just read an interesting article about php hanging on certain float numbers, see The Register and Exploring Binary. I never explicitly use floats, I use number_format() to clean my input and display for example prices. Also, as far as I am aware, all input from for example forms are strings until I tell them otherwise so I am supposing that this problem does not affect me. Am I right, or do I need to check for example Wordpress and Squirrelmail installations on my server to see if they cast anything to float? Or better, grep all php files on my servers for float?

  I have a class in C# with a template and static method similar to class BClass<T> { public static BClass<T> Create() { return new BClass<T>(); } } From this I derive a class and specify a template parameter to the base class class DClass : BClass<int> { } A problem occurs when I try to use the static method to create an instance of D class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { DClass d = DClass.Create(); } } Gives a compiler error "Cannot implicitly convert type 'Test.BClass<int ' to 'Test.DClass'." Adding the below cast leads to a runtime casting exception. DClass d = (DClass)DClass.Create(); Is there any succint way to allow the static method to create instances of the derived class? Ideally I would like the equivalent of a c++ typedef and I don't want the below syntax (which does work). BClass<int> d = DClass.Create();

• Apache Named Virtual Hosts and HTTPS

  I have an SSL certificate which is valid for multiple (sub-) domains. In Apache I have configured this as follows: In /etc/apache2/apache2.conf NameVirtualHost <my ip>:443 Then for one named virtual host I have <VirtualHost <my ip>:443> ServerName ... SSLEngine on SSLCertificateFile ... SSLCertificateKeyFile ... SSLCertificateChainFile ... SSLCACertificateFile ... </VirtualHost> Finally, for every other site I want to be accessible over HTTPS I just have a <VirtualHost <my ip>:443> ServerName ... </VirtualHost> The good news is that it works. However, when I start Apache I get warning messages [warn] Init: SSL server IP/port conflict: Domain A:443 (...) vs. Domain B:443 (...) [warn] Init: SSL server IP/port conflict: Domain C:443 (...) vs. Domain B:443 (...) [warn] Init: You should not use name-based virtual hosts in conjunction with SSL!! So, my question is: how should I be configuring this? Clearly from the warning messages I am doing something wrong (although it does work!), however, the above configuration was the only one I could get to work. It is somewhat annoying as the configuration files have an explicit dependence on my IP address.

• Printing the address of a struct object

  I have a struct like this typedef struct _somestruct { int a; int b; }SOMESTRUCT,*LPSOMESTRUCT; I am creating an object for the struct and trying to print it's address like this int main() { LPSOMESTRUCT val = (LPSOMESTRUCT)malloc(sizeof(SOMESTRUCT)); printf("0%x\n", val); return 0; } ..and I get this warning warning C4313: 'printf' : '%x' in format string conflicts with argument 1 of type 'LPSOMESTRUCT' So, I tried to cast the address to int like this printf("0%x\n", static_cast<int>(val)); But I get this error: error C2440: 'static_cast' : cannot convert from 'LPSOMESTRUCT' to 'int' What am I missing here? How to avoid this warning? Thanks.

• Using a Type object to create a generic

  Hello all! I'm trying to create an instance of a generic class using a Type object. Basically, I'll have a collection of objects of varying types at runtime, and since there's no way for sure to know what types they exactly will be, I'm thinking that I'll have to use Reflection. I was working on something like: Type elType = Type.GetType(obj); Type genType = typeof(GenericType<>).MakeGenericType(elType); object obj = Activator.CreateInstance(genType); Which is well and good. ^_^ The problem is, I'd like to access a method of my GenericType< instance, which I can't because it's typed as an object class. I can't find a way to cast it obj into the specific GenericType<, because that was the problem in the first place (i.e., I just can't put in something like:) ((GenericType<elType>)obj).MyMethod(); How should one go about tackling this problem? In other words I want something like this: If the vhost has no explicit ssl config use cert for domain3 (/usr/share/ssl/certs/certificate.crt) Notes: 1.- I for sure will be setting more vhosts in the future 2.- I know (and don't care) of the ssl warnings the browser will show (hostname mismatch) If this possible? how?

• Converting between unsigned and signed int safely

  I have an interface between a client and a server where a client sends (1) an unsigned value, and (2) a flag which indicates if value is signed/unsigned. Server would then static cast unsigned value to appropriate type. I later found out that this is implementation defined behavior and I've been reading about it but I couldn't seem to find an appropriate solution that's completely safe? I've read about type punning, pointer conversions, and memcpy. Would simply using a union type work? A UnionType containing signed and unsigned int, along with the signed/unsigned flag. For signed values, client sets the signed part of the union, and server reads the signed part. Same for the unsigned part. Or am I completely misunderstanding something? Side question: how do I know the specific behavior in this case for a specific scenario, e.g. windriver diab on PPC? I'm a bit lost on how to find such documentation.

• best way to output a full precision double into a text file

  Hi, I need to use an existing text file to store some very precise values. When read back in, the numbers essentially need to be exactly equivalent to the ones that were originally written. Now, a normal person would use a binary file... for a number of reasons, that's not possible in this case. So... do any of you have a good way of encoding a double as a string of characters (aside from increasing the precision). My first thought was to cast the double to a char[] and write out the chars. I don't think that's going to work because some of the characters are not visible, produce sounds, and even terminate strings ('\0'... I'm talkin to you!) Thoughts?

  The players: my home computer, running Linux with an X server running. (Call it HOME.) a remote site, to which I can connect over the internet using a VPN. (SITE) a Linux computer at the remote site, to which I can connect with ssh -X and nicely have X clients displaying on my local server. (MIDDLE) a very old Irix machine (an Onyx) at the remote site, which has no SSH server (therefore I can't ssh -X to it), only an ssh client. (ONYX) Purpose I need to run an X11 application on the ONYX machine, and see the GUI on HOME. I think I stumble upon xauth issues. So far The current situation is: ? HOME connects to SITE ? A vncserver starts on MIDDLE:7 ? vncviewer on HOME connects to vncserver on MIDDLE ? ONYX starts a forwarding ssh session to MIDDLE: ssh -TfN -L 6007:127.0.0.1:6007 MIDDLE ? DISPLAY=localhost:7 xclient on ONYX fails with Xlib: connection to "127.0.0.1:7.0" refused by server I do know that the forwarding (6007:127.0.0.1:6007) succeeds. A previous attempt was: ? HOME connects to SITE ? HOME connects to MIDDLE: ssh -X MIDDLE (xclock displays on HOME, DISPLAY is 127.0.0.1:10) ? ONYX starts an SSH tunnel to MIDDLE: ssh -TfN -L 6010:127.0.0.1:6010 MIDDLE ? DISPLAY=127.0.0.1:10 xclient fails with X connection to 127.0.0.1:10.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown). while an error pops up in the MIDDLE session: X11 connection rejected because of wrong authentication.   I have two classes, derivedClassA and derivedClassB which both extend parentClass I'm declaring var o:parentClass and then, depending on what's going on, I want to cast o as either being of type derivedClassA or derivedClassB. Essentially, this: var o:parentClass ... if(shouldUseA) o = new derivedClassA(); else o = new derivedClassB(); o.doSomething(); But it's not working, I'm getting all sorts of errors. Isn't this how class inheritance works? I feel like I'm missing something really fundamental, but I can't figure out what. Am I supposed to be using interfaces instead? Is there another way of doing what I want?

• Building FFmpeg for Android

  I've spent almost a week on this now, trying to get FFmpeg "Angel" to build for Android. I've tried build scripts from all over the internet to no avail. I got closest was using this. A sthe author himself says the script doesn't work for newer versions of FFmpeg due to this bug, which has been dismissed on that ticket saying "I found a Makefile that does it." This was dis-heartening, being the only post on all of the cast Google world that was anywhere close to my problem. So, question time: Is there a way to get around the above bug? I'm trying to use the newest ffmpeg API, and "Love" is just giving me "undefined reference" errors while trying to use av_encode_video2(), and av_free_frame(). The code I was working on the lines of is at the ffmpeg git repo, under /doc/examples/decoding_encoding.c (the function starting on line 338)

  I have some problems using two dimensional array in the code and need some help. static const int PATTERNS[20][4]; static void init_PATTERN() { // problem #1 int (&patterns)[20][4] = const_cast<int[20][4]>(PATTERNS); ... } extern void UsePattern(int a, const int** patterns, int patterns_size); // problem #2 UsePattern(10, PATTERNS, sizeof(PATTERNS)/sizeof(PATTERNS[0])); in the first statement, I need to cast the const off the two dimensional array PATTERNS. The reason for this is that the init function is called only once, and in the remaining code, PATTERNS is strictly read-only. In the second statement, I need to pass PATTERNS array to the int** argument. Direct passing resulted a compile error. Thanks!

(note: for those who work with JBPM might already familiar with following data structures and HB mapping) Class LongInstance extends from VariableInstance, with the mapping for field "value" overridden in LongInstance. The mapping for VariableInstance is here and for LongInstance here. VariableInstance is polymorphically mapped to a collection in TokenVariableMap, the mapping is here. The question: how can I query the polymorphic collection using specific/overridden property of the member class? I'm looking for something like this "... from TokenVariableMaps tvm left join fetch tvm.variableInstances tvi where cast(tvi as LongInstance).value in(:vars)"

  unichar myChar = [myString characterAtIndex:0]; [myNSMutableArray addObject:myChar]; I am trying to insert the first char of a string into an array, to create an array of chars. the first line does not give me an error. The second line however, provides the following error: warning: passing argument 1 of 'addObject:' makes pointer from integer without a cast This also crashes the application with a "bad address" error. I thought this error was due to a problem with memory allocation. Can someone shed some light on this.

  I'm trying to make a code that cast shadow from trasnparent objects(such as glass) for rendering in 3D I do not have a shadow map and photon mapping yet, and I wanted to know if there is a way to make shadows for transparent materials using ray tracing only. Caustics sounds very hard without photon mapping...
