    I have a web service created in .NET. I thought I had setup everything correctly based on a set of instructions I followed but for some reason I'm getting: "Not Found" when I try to load in my browser http://localhost/myservice/webservice.aspx. Someone said that I have to configure IIS for Aspx files. I don't know how to do that. I need to know how to do that and I need help on setting up this web service

  • Problems creating service using sc.exe

    I have this command to create a service: sc create svnserve binpath="\"C:\Program Files (x86)\Subversion\bin\svnserve.exe\" --service --root C:\SVNRoot" displayname="Subversion" depend=tcpip start=auto obj="NT AUTHORITY\LocalService" Unfortunately, it seems not to work, even though the syntax is correct. When I run it, I get the usage instructions (which I guess is a way of telling me that I've supplied incorrect arguments, although I have no idea what incorrect argument I might have supplied). Can anyone help me out of my difficulty? Thanks!

    As I understand I think I need to add something to init.d, but I am not sure what to add. At the moment to start clamav I have to do clamd start. I would like it as a service so I can start it on run level 3 as a service. I realize I could probably do this through a shell script in the right runlevel, but I would like to be able to use chkconfig to configure it.

  • Oracle 9i Session Disconnections

    [Cross-Posting from ServerFault] I am in a development environment, and our test Oracle 9i server has been misbehaving for a few days now. What happens is that we have our JDBC connections disconnecting after a few successful connections. We got this box set up by our IT department and handed over to. It is 'our problem', so options like 'ask you DBA' isn't going to help me. :( Our server is set up with 3 plain databases (one is the main dev db, the other is the 'experimental' dev db). We use the Oracle 10 ojdbc14.jar thin JDBC driver (because of some bug in the version 9 of the driver). We're using Hibernate to talk to the DB. The only thing that I can see that changed is that we now have more users connecting to the server. Instead of one developer, we now have 3. With the Hibernate connection pools, I'm thinking that maybe we're hitting some limit? Anyone has any idea what's going on?     Hi, I'm trying to deploy a custom mbean to a tomcat. This mbean is not part of a webapp. It should be instantiated when tomcat starts. My problem is, I can't find any complete documentation about how to deploy such a mbean. I'm getting different exceptions, depending on my configuration. Has anyone hints, a complete documentation or has implemented a mbean by himself and can post an example? I'm aware of this question but it doesn't help me. The answer I gave worked just for a short time, after that I got some other exceptions.   • Can I use `UnlockCommercialFeatures` for developing Java applications without a commercial license?

    As of Java 7 Update 40, Oracle is now including Java Mission Control in the JDK. Being always interested in a new profiling tool, I decided to check it out. However, trying to start Flight Recorder against a process, I get the following error, Now I'm getting cold feet about adding the JVM option -XX:+UnlockCommercialFeatures. I would only use this for profiling in development and not in production. From the article linked above, JMC is available under the Oracle Binary Code License for Java. The license allows you to use JMC for free during development and testing, though a different (paid for) licence is required for production use. I'm still leery about this. From Java SE Products, Flight Recorder certainly is a commercial feature; however, I find it very confusing that it's now included in the standard JDK release. Anyone else have a read on this? I attended Juval Löwy's presentation on the .NET Service Bus earlier today and he stated that the .NET Service Bus could be used as a poor man's version of an ESB, so I would take that to mean that the .NET Service Bus is NOT an ESB, are any of the others a true ESB? If any of the others are a true ESB what would make them a true ESB as opposed to the .NET Service Bus?

  • Howto - Running Redmine on mongrel as a service on windows

    I use Redmine on Mongrel as a project manager and I use a batch file (start-redmine.bat) to start the redmine in mongrel. There are 2 issues with my setup: 1. I have a running IIS on the server that occupies the HTTP port (80) 2. The start-redmine.bat must be periodically checked to see if it's stopped after a restart that is caused by windows update service. for the first issue, I have no choice but running mongrel on a port like 3000 and for the second issue I have to create a windows service that runs automatically in the background when the windows starts; and here comes the trouble! There are at least 3 ways to run redmine as a service that I'm aware of; none of them can satisfy a performance view on this subject. you may read about them on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/877943/how-to-configure-a-rails-app-redmine-to-run-as-a-service-on-windows I tried them all. The easiest way to setup such a service is using mongrel_service approach; in 3 lines of command you're done. but the performance is significantly lower than running that batch file... Now, I wanna show you my approach: First suppose we have ruby installed into c:\ruby and we have issued the command gem install mongrel to get the mongrel gem installed into c:\ruby\bin Also, suppose we have installed the Redmine into a folder like c:\redmine; and we have ruby's path (i.e. c:\ruby\bin) in our PATH environment variable. Now Download and install the Windows NT Resource Kit Tools from microsoft website. Open the command-line tool that comes with the Resource Kit (from start menu). Use instsrv to install a dummy service called Redmine using the following command: "[path-to-instsrv.exe]\instsrv" Redmine "[path-to-srvany.exe]\srvany.exe" in my case (which is the default case) it was something like this: "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\instsrv" Redmine "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\srvany.exe" Now create the batch file. Open a notepad and paste these instructions into it and then save it as "c:\redmine\start-redmine.bat" @echo off cd c:\redmine\ mongrel_rails start -a 0.0.0.0 -p 3000 -e production Now we need to configure that dummy service we had created before. WATCH OUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING FROM HERE ON, OR YOU MAY CORRUPT YOUR WINDOWS. To configure that service, open windows registry editor (Start - Run - regedit) and navigate to this node: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Redmine Right-Click on "Redmine" node and using the context menu, create a new key called Parameters (New - Key) Right-Click on "Parameters" and create a String Value property called Application. Do this again and create another String Value called AppParameters. Now Double-click on "Application" and put cmd.exe into "Value data" section. Then Double-click on "AppParameters" and put /C "C:\redmine\start-redmine.bat" into Value data section. We're done! issue this command to run the redmine on mongrel as a service: net start Redmine

  • What have my fellow Delphi programmers done to make Eclipse/Java more like Delphi?

    I am a veteran Delphi programmer working on my first real Android app. I am using Eclipse and Java as my development environment. The thing I miss the most of course is Delphi's VCL components and the associated IDE tools for design-time editing and code creation. Fortunately I am finding Eclipse to be one hell of an IDE with it's lush context sensitive help, deep auto-complete and code wizard facilities, and other niceties. This is a huge double treat since it is free. However, here is an example of something in the Eclipse/Java environment that will give a Delphi programmer pause. I will use the simple case of adding an "on-click" code stub for an OK button. DELPHI Drop button on a form Double-click button on form and fill in the code that will fire when the button is clicked ECLIPSE Drop button on layout in the graphical XML file editor Add the View.OnClickListener interface to the containing class's "implements" list if not there already. (Command+1 on Macs, Ctrl + 1 on PCs I believe). Use Eclipse to automatically add the code stub for unimplemented methods needed to support the View.OnClickListener interface, thus creating the event handler function stub. Find the stub and fill it in. However, if you have more than one possible click event source then you will need to inspect the View parameter to see which View element triggered the OnClick() event, thus requiring a case statement to handle multiple click event sources. NOTE: I am relatively new to Eclipse/Java so if there is a much easier way of doing this please let me know. Now that work flow isn't all that terrible, but again, that's just the simplest of use cases. Ratchet up the amount of extra work and thinking for a more complex component (aka widget) and the large number of properties/events it might have. It won't be long before you miss dearly the Delphi intelligent property editor and other designers. Eclipse tries to cover this ground by having an extensive list of properties in the menu that pops up when you right-click over a component/widget in the XML graphical layout editor. That's a huge and welcome assist but it's just not even close to the convenience of the Delphi IDE. Let me be very clear. I absolutely am not ranting nor do I want to start a Delphi vs. Java ideology discussion. Android/Eclipse/Java is what it is and there is a lot that impresses me. What I want to know is what other Delphi programmers that made the switch to the Eclipse/Java IDE have done to make things more Delphi like, and not just to make component/widget event code creation easier but any programming task.     What Java web framework out there best supports a role of "web UI designer", that is, lets you: Use popular web design tools (xhtml validators, css editors, what have you) on your views/pages View changes without running on a server Rapidly prototype different UI options Supports a (somewhatly) clean separation between "developer" and "designer" (terminology intentionally vague) We, like many others, have found these capabilities sorely lacking in our large, legacy Struts 1.x apps that use lots of JSP fragments and includes. We've decided to port our apps to a JSR-168/268 portal environment, but we have not decided on what Java web framework will power the portlets. We're open to any kind (action-based, component-based, etc) and a key criterion is how well it supports the role described above. I'm intrigued by Tapestry which claims that its views are XHTML compliant pages (that simply have extra Tapestry-specific attributes added onto them to be processed at runtime). This sounds like it would play well with a web ui designer's toolkit. However, I'd like to know if this is what actually happens in the real world, or if compromises are necessary. Of course, if there's something much better than Tapestry, I'd love to hear about it!

  • As a C# developer, would you learn Java to develop for Android or use MonoDroid instead?

    I'd consider myself pretty well versed in C#. It's my language of choice at the moment, and it's where basically all my professional experience lies. Still, I'm puzzled by the existence of the MonoDroid project. My understanding has always been that C# and Java are very close. Like, if you know one, you can learn the other really quickly. So, as I've considered developing my first Android app, I just assumed I would familiarize myself with Java enough to get started and then just sort of learn as I go. Wouldn't this make more sense than using MonoDroid, which is likely to be less feature-rich than the Java Android SDK, and requires learning its own API (albeit a .NET API) anyway? I just feel like it would be better to learn a new language (and an extremely popular one at that) and get some experience in it—when it's so close to what you already know anyway—rather than stick with a technology you're experienced with, without gaining any more valuable skills. Maybe I'm grossly misrepresenting the average potential MonoDroid user. Maybe it's more for people who are experienced in Java and .NET and just prefer .NET. Or maybe (in fact it's likely) there are other factors I just haven't considered. I'm just wondering, why would you use MonoDroid instead of just developing for Android using Java?

    i have a simple web service with one method that returns List<org.company.data.mp> i've created a simple web service client and specified a web service with wsdl. in netbeans i try to call a web service operation: right click, insert code, ... and i pick my web service operation. the code gets inserted but the method's return type is not List<org.company.data.mp> but it is List<org.company.server.mp>! i don't get it.. in the package "server" there is no class called mp! i check the implementation class of my web service - it says the return type is ...data.mp not ...server.mp
