  • Can not copy files after installing windows

    I am experiencing a weird problem. I was running Xubuntu on my laptop until yesterday that I had to delete Xubuntu and install Windows. I had a NTFS partition on my Xubuntu that I kept some files on it. Today after installing windows I wanted to move all the files from that partition to an external HDD. I selected all files and folders and clicked on Copy, then I went to the HDD and clicked on paste but nothing happened. I can not do that. I do not know why. I copy the files, and wherever I click paste, nothing happens. If I try to copy the files and folders one by one, I can copy some of them, but some of them do not move. The other problem I have is that I can not open some files, in particular pdf files. When I click on pdf files I get this error: There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found. Also, I cannot play some mp4 files. I can not open some jpg and txt files. I get this error The directory name is invalid. So in summary, after removing Xubuntu and installing windows 7 I have the following problems with one of the NTFS partitions on my internal drive: Can not copy or cut all folders and files from that partition to any other partition - I also do not get any errors. Can copy some folders and files Can not access some pdf, jpeg, txt and mp4 files and get the above errors. I should also mention I did not change anything for this partition during the installation or formatting the other partitions.

  • Windows Server 08 R2 file share File locking, OSX clients

    I've spent the last two weeks banging my head against this wall. I think I'm starting to understand the problem though. I manage a design company and they have 5 macs (OSX 10.5/.6/.7) connected over SMB to a Windows 2008 R2 file server, another machine functions as Domain Controller (that might not matter). All the macs can connect ok, no issues finding the server or logging in. For the most part things are ok. The problem is files locking up. I thought it was a permissions issue at first but it seems to be file locking. The users open a file; .ind, .pdf etc the file opens, the software reads it and closes it. That's fine, but the folder above the folder locks, it can't be moved and it can't be renamed. Eg: /Working/Project01/Imagefiles/image.pdf /Finished/ The user opens image.pdf, closes it and wants to move the whole Project01 folder into Finished. It gives a username/pass dialogue and then does nothing, no error, or just does nothing. Trying to rename gives a dialogue that says you don't have permission. It looks like it's looking for permission locally, which is why I spent about a week looking at that. Eventually I found that Finder on the macs seems to be keeping the folders open. I can work around it by Killing finder, remounting the shared drive or closing the file through the server manager but this just proves the theory it's not a solution. Has anyone dealt with this problem?

  • Why is my hg workbench & Adobe Reader toolbar icon a blank white page?

    On my work's PC (windows 7 32bit) all Adobe Reader and hg Workbench icons on the toolbar (and general shortcuts for hg workbench) are just white pages (with the top left corner folded over). If you right click on the toolbar icon then right click on "TortoiseHg Workbench"(for hg workbench) then "Properties" then the "Change Icon..." button is greyed out (same for "Adobe Reader X"). Also the "Target:" is "TortoiseHg 2.4.0 (x86)" and is greyed out also the "Open File Location" is greyed out. This is the same for both Hg Workbench and Adobe Reader and seems to be the only thing that connects them. I have tried reinstalling to no avail. I also have local admin rights on the PC. I finally I have tried the following following questions without any luck (they aren't quite relevant to my issue but close): Adobe Reader program icon and pdf icons don't appear in Windows 7 Adobe PDF icon disappeared? Encase my description isn't enough to understand the issue here is a screenshot. As you can see the Hg Workbench icon (far left) and a pdf open in Adobe Reader X (second icon to from the left) are both blank and the shortcut is mainly greyed out.

  • repeated entries in website log file

    I am writing an ad hoc log analyser for my website log file. The following is part of the log file in which it shows file1.pdf has been downloaded twice. Looking carefully, the time stamp and IP address are exactly the same in both entries. How can it be possible to have 2 downloads at the same time by the same person. Should I count it as 2 in my programme or as 1?     I'm trying to create a PDF file of a web page using iTextSharp. In order to parse the HTML, I need to use HTMLWorker or HtmlParser. But none of them "exists" in the namespaces I'm using. I'm using the following namespaces: using iTextSharp.text; using iTextSharp.text.html; using iTextSharp.text.pdf; Am I missing something obvious?

  • Speed up UIPageViewController

    I have a UIPageViewController with several pages. Each page is the same view controller, but the page number is kept track of and the correct page of a PDF is shown. The problem is that each PDF page needs to be loaded and drawn before the curl effect works (you slide your finger across the screen and nothing happens until loaded). Any ideas on how to speed this up or preload the next page? Thanks for your help.

    How can I specify the content type of an attachment when sending emails using sp_send_dbmail? The content type is specified as application/octet-stream for Zip, PDF files. But I need to change it to application/zip, application/pdf. The "file_attachments" parameter takes absolute paths of the attachments. Can not find a place to specify content type. I am using SQL Server 2005/2008 Please help. Thanks

I would like help with writing a VBA function so that when the user clicks in any of the cells in that column the name of the file and the page number are passed as variables and the pdf file opens to the page specified.     I am using the following tcl code to store a file from my deskstop into a Sqlite database as blob data ($fileText is a path to a text file): sqlite3 db Docs.db set fileID [open $fileText RDONLY] fconfigure $fileID -translation binary set content [read $fileID] close $fileID db eval {insert into Document (Doc) VALUES ($content)} db close I have found many resources on how to open the blob data to read and write to it, but I cannot find any resources on openning the blob data as a file. For example, if $fileText was a pdf, how would I open it, from Sqlite, as a pdf?
