• Display only file name in FileUpload control

  I have a webpage in asp.net 3.5 that uses the FileUpload control. When a user clicks on the "Browse" button (which is part of the control) the control displays a file select popup (dialog box). When the user selects the file which they wish to upload, by default the full path to the file is shown in the textbox (which is also part of the control); however, I wish for it to only display the file name and not the full path. Anyone know of a slick and easy way to do this?

• MySQL: host name universal change.

  I am making some updates to a php site which I did not design. I have a local copy of the site. At the top of each page there are settings for the host name for the db connection. Is there someway I can setup a pointer to the remote address. The address is 'mysqlhost' for example and I want that to point to 'mysql.myhost.com'. I tried creating a HOST record for mysqlhost pointing to the IP address it resolves to but that doesn't work. If I put 'mysql.myhost.com' in the connection it works. If I put that IP address it doesn't so that is probably why the HOST record idea doesn't work. Other than creating a local copy of the DB is there a quick way so that I don't have to modify each file in my dev environment and then again when I redeploy?

  Hello everyone, If the title was not clear, I will try to clarify what I am asking: Imagine I have a variable called counter, I know I can see its current value by doing something like: std::cout << counter << std::endl; However, assume I have lots of variables and I don't know which I'm going to want to look at until runtime. Does anyone know a way I can fetch the value of a variable by using its name, for example: std::cout << valueOf("counter") << std::endl; I feel being able to do this might make debugging large complex projects easier. • Android: Referring to a string resource when defining a log name

  In my Android app, I want to use a single variable for the log name in multiple files. At the moment, I'm specifying it separately in each file, e.g. public final String LOG_NAME = "LogName"; Log.d(LOG_NAME, "Logged output); I've tried this: public final String LOG_NAME = (String) getText(R.string.app_name_nospaces); And while this works in generally most of my files, Eclipse complains about one of them: The method getText(int) is undefined for the type DatabaseManager I've made sure I'm definitely importing android.content.Context in that file. If I tell it exactly where to find getText: Multiple markers at this line - Cannot make a static reference to the non-static method getText(int) from the type Context - The method getText(int) is undefined for the type DatabaseManager I'm sure I've committed a glaringly obvious n00b error, but I just can't see it!   Hello everyone, In my code, all of the scripts are contained in .js files. Whenever one of the scripts contains an error, I get this: javax.script.ScriptException: sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.EcmaError: ReferenceError: "nonexistant" is not defined. (<Unknown source>#5) in <Unknown source> at line number 5 What bugs me is the <Unknown Source>. Multiple files are in one ScriptContext, and it can be hard to track down an error. It also looks horrible. Is there a way to replace <Unknown Source> with the actual file name? None of the methods I see support passing a File object, so I'm really confused here.

  Struts 2 will resolve all property names during view rendering against the top object in the ValueStack first. But how can one access a property with the same name on the object lower on the stack? Example: Let's say I have an Action class called MyAction and it has a a logDate property. In the view rendered after this action is invoked, there's this: Now imagine a User object also has a logDate property. During the iteration, Struts 2 will always push the current user object to the top of the ValueStack effectively resolving all property names against it. But, what if I wanted to access logDate from the action? What's the correct way to do this?

  I am getting following error each time I tried to select database. The database 'DB Name' is not accessible. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.ObjectExplorer) Note: My OS is Win Vista. When I tried to open SQL Mgmt Studio as Run as administrator than I can able to access database properly. Any idea why it is giving error. I am also getting following error when my asp.net application is trying to access database. Cannot open database "DBName" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'PCName\abcd'. I am not very good with SQL Server, please let me know how to create user and grant them permission in case that is what causing the problem. Thanks.

  Hi, I was trying to write a small debug utility and for this I need to get the function/global variable address given its name. This is built-in debug utility, which means that the debug utility will run from within the code to be debugged or in plain words I cannot parse the executable file. Now is there a well-known way to do that ? The plan I have is to make the .debug_* sections to to be loaded into to memory [which I plan to do by a cheap trick like this in ld script] .data { *(.data) __sym_start = .; (debug_); __sym_end = .; } Now I have to parse the section to get the information I need, but I am not sure this is doable or is there issues with this - this is all just theory. But it also seems like too much of work :-) is there a simple way. Or if someone can tell upfront why my scheme will not work, it ill also be helpful. Thanks in Advance, Alex.

• "Method name expected" error when trying add a handler method to a delegate - C#

  I keep getting the error "Method name expected" when trying add the a method to a delegate. I have a delegate which is invoked when ever my game ends. The function I'm trying to add to the delegate stops a countdown from flashing (the method is in a static class). I've searched about and I'm still unsure why its not working. Here is the line causing the error: LivesManager.gameEnded += new LivesManager.EndGame(CountdownManager.DisableFlashTimer(this)); The this passes the current form to the method so it can disable the timer flash on the form. I have added methods from static classes to the same delegate before and it works fine, the only difference is that I'm passing the form as a paramater and then it doesn't like it. Is there any way to pass the form to the method without the error? Thanks in advance :)

  Hi, i am using the Ado.Net Entity Framework with Code Only (Tutorial at: ADO.NET team blog) and i want to be as much database independent as possible. In my first approach i just want to go for Sql Express and Sql Compact databases. With Sql Express everthing works fine but with Sql Compact i get the exception mentioned in my question. Does anybody knows if it is possible to connect to Sql Compact with the Code Only approach? (with a generated .edmx file for a Sql Compact database everthing works fine, but i want to use code only!) • Pylons error "No object (name: request) has been registered for this thread" with debug = false

  I'm unable to access the request object in my Pylons 0.9.7 controller when I set debug = false in the .ini file. I have the following code: def run_something(self): print('!!! request = %r' % request) print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) yield 'Stuff' With debugging enabled this works fine and prints out: !!! request = <Request at 0x9571190 POST http://my_url> !!! request.params = UnicodeMultiDict([... lots of stuff ...]) If I set debug = false I get the following: !!! request = <paste.registry.StackedObjectProxy object at 0x4093790> Error - <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>: No object (name: request) has been registered for this thread The stack trace confirms that the error is on the print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) line. I'm running it using the Paste server and these two lines are the very first lines in my controller method. This only occurs if I have yield statements in the method (even though the statements aren't reached). I'm guessing Pylons sees that it's a generator method and runs it on some other thread. My questions are: How do I make it work with debug = false ? Why does it work with debug = true ? Obviously this is quite a dangerous bug, since I normally develop with debug = true, so it can go unnoticed during development.

However I still want to have the URLs look like /module/4711/ therefore I added this to my routes.rb: map.connect '/module/:module_id', :controller => 'xpmodule', :action => 'index' map.connect '/module/:module_id/subscribe', :controller => 'xpmodule', :action => 'subscribe' Now I want to test this controller with Rspec: describe XpmoduleController do fixtures :xpmodules context "index" do it "should assign the current xpmodule" do xpm = mock_model(Xpmodule) Xpmodule.should_receive(:find).and_return(xpm) get "index" assigns[:xpmodule].should be_an_instance_of(Xpmodule) end end end for which I get No route matches {:action=>"index", :controller=>"xpmodule"}. Which of course is sort-of right, but I don't want to add this route just for testing purposes. Is there a way to tell Rspec to call a different URL in get?

  Hello guys, I'm having troubles with the logic and would apprecite any help/tips. I have <Deposits> elements and <Receipts> elements. However there isn't any identification what receipt was paid toward what deposit. I am trying to update the <Deposits> elements with the following attributes: @DueAmont - the amount that is still due to pay @Status - whether it's paid, outstanding (partly paid) or due @ReceiptDate - the latest receipt's date that was paid towards this deposit Every deposit could be paid with one or more receipts. It also could happen, that 1 receipt could cover one or more deposits. For example. If there are 3 deposits: 500 100 450 That are paid with the following receipts: 200 100 250 I want to get the following info: Deposit 1 is fully paid (status=paid, dueAmount=0, receiptNum=3. Deposit 2 is partly paid (status=outstanding, dueAmount=50, receiptNum=3. Deposit 3 is not paid (status=due, dueAmount=450, receiptNum=NAN. I've added comments in the code explaining what I'm trying to do. I am staring at this code for the 3rd day now non stop - can't see what I'm doing wrong. All I want to do, is have an abstract class that implements an interface, and have a class extending this abstract class so that the hard class needs to implement getKommune() and setKommune(Kommune kommune), but not the other method, because that is in the abstract class. I have the following interface. public interface KommuneFilter { <E extends AbstractKommune<?>> void addKommuneFromCurrentUser(E e); Kommune getKommune(); void setKommune(Kommune kommune); } And this Abstract class public abstract class AbstractKommune<E extends AbstractKommune<?>> implements KommuneFilter { @PrePersist void addKommuneFromCurrentUser(E e) { } } And I want to use it like this public class Person extends AbstractKommune<Person> { private Kommune kommune; public void setKommune(Kommune kommune) {this.kommune=kommune;} public Kommune getKommune() {return kommune;} } However, I get Name clash: The method of has the same erasure of type but does not override it Why isn't it correctly overriden?

  Hi, I've created a html helper that adds a css class property to a li item if the user is on the current page. However I'm having difficulty finding the route the user is on. Is this possible?   Hi I am developing a campera capture application. I am currently using EmguCV 2.0.   Pretty sure there is an easy answer to this, but just can't find the right VTL syntax. In my context I'm passing a Map which contains other Maps. I'd like to reference these inner maps by name and assign them within my template. • [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified - works

  Hello, I am developing a java app (with odbc bridge - forgive me - the only paradox driver I have been able to obtain is the microsoft odbc driver) - which works fine while in eclipse, (and netbeans) - connecting and obtaining data from an ancient paradox 5.x database. So long as it is run from inside my IDE - it compiles and runs flawlessly. When I export it to a runable jar, suddenly [code][Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified[/code] occurs. The jar is being run on the same box as my developing IDE - so I am confused about the cause. It is being run via console from a user account, as per the IDE. My connection string is "jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Paradox Driver (*.db )};DriverID=538; Fil=Paradox 5.X; DefaultDir=C:\paradox\database\location\" - obtained from connectionstrings.com - and as mentioned before, working fine while run from the IDE. The above seems to 'magically' create its own connection, avoiding the setup of a dsn - I am unsure quite how it does - but it works. The only other thing I can think that might be pertinent is that my PC is a 64bit o/s (windows server 2008). Please help, any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt
