  • WPF Accessing Items inside Listbox which has a UserControl as ItemTemplate

    - by Turker
    I have Window that has a ListBox ListBox(MyListBox) has a DataTable for its DataContext ListBox's ItemSource is : {Binding} Listbox has a UserControl(MyUserControl) as DataTemplate UserControl has RadioButtons and TextBoxes (At first They're filled with values from DataTable and then user can change them) Window has one Submit Button What I want to do is, when user clicks the submit button For each ListBox Item, get the values form UserControl's TextBoxes and RadioButtons. I was using that method for this job : foreach(var element in MyListBox.Items) { var border = MyListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(element)as FrameworkElement; MyUserControl currentControl = VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(VisualTreeHelper.GetChild(myBorder,0) as Border,0)as ContentPresenter,0)as MyUserControl; //And use currentControl } I realised nothing when using 3-5 items in Listbox. But when I used much more items, I saw that "var border" gets "null" after some elements looped in foreach function. I found the reason here : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1675926/listview-itemcontainergenerator-containerfromitemitem-return-null-after-20-item So what can I do now? I want to access all items and get their values sitting on user controls. Thanks

    - by klawusel
    Hi I show my business objects in a MS datagrid, containing "country", "city", "street", for example. I can set a tooltip for each column showing its content using a style, so I get the "country" as tooltip when hooverinmg over the "country" column and so on. But I did not succeed 1) to show the content of "country" when hoovering over "city" 2) to show the content of some other property (not even displayed in the datagrid) when hoovering the datagrid Any clues? • WPF Style: how to change GradientStop Color in Trigger

    - by Nike
    I have a Button Style: <Style x:Key="ButtonStyle1" TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Grid> <Path x:Name="path1" ... Data="...some data..."> <Path.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,-0.3" StartPoint="0.5,0.8"> <GradientStop x:Name="gs1" Color="Green" Offset="0.44"/> <GradientStop Color="Black" Offset="0.727"/> </LinearGradientBrush> </Path.Fill> </Path> <ContentPresenter ...properties... /> </Grid> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Setter TargetName="???"   • WPF Trigger / Style overrides another

    - by ozczecho
    I have a listview defined as such <ListView Width="auto" SelectionMode="Single" ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource baseListViewStyle}" .... Then in "baseListViewStyle" I have defined some base styles to apply to my list views, including a Style trigger: <Style x:Key="baseListViewStyle" TargetType="ListViewItem"> <Setter Property="Height" Value="20" /> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Stretch"/> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Red" /> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> The trigger here highlights the row when mouse is over it. Nice. I also have a Data Trigger on the listviewitem: <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding IsTestTrue}" Value="True"> <DataTrigger.EnterActions> <BeginStoryboard Storyboard="{StaticResource SomeFunkyAnimation}" /> </DataTrigger.EnterActions> </DataTrigger> If test is true then a nice little fade animation is played out. This all works except when I move my mouse over the row where "test is true" the animation stops and the mouse over style is displayed. Any ideas how I can override that style in my DataTrigger? TIA

  • Confusion about WPF binding...

    - by Vladislav
    I am trying to bind a 2D array of buttons arranged in stackpanels to a 2D ObservableCollection... Yet, I'm afraid I don't understand something very elementary about binding. My XAML: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="ItemsAsButtons"> <Button Content="{Binding}" Height="100" Width="100"/> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate x:Key="PanelOfPanels"> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=DayNumbers}" ItemTemplate=" {DynamicResource ItemsAsButtons}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> ... <ItemsControl x:Name="DaysPanel" Grid.ColumnSpan="7" Grid.Row="2" ItemTemplate="{DynamicResource PanelOfPanels}"/> My C# code: The backend: /// <summary> /// Window BE for Calendar.xaml /// </summary> public partial class Calendar : Window { private CalendarViewModel _vm; public Calendar() { InitializeComponent(); _vm = new CalendarViewModel(); this.DataContext = _vm; } } The ViewModel: class CalendarViewModel { CalendarMonth _displayedMonth; EventCalendar _calendar; public CalendarViewModel() { _displayedMonth = new CalendarMonth(); } public ObservableCollection<ObservableCollection<int>> DayNumbers { get { return _displayedMonth.DayNumbers; } } } I'm trying to populate the buttons with values from CalendarViewModel.DayNumbers - yet the buttons do not appear. I'm clearly doing something wrong with my binding.

  • WPF, ShowGridLines equivalent for wrap panel

    - by user275587
    I need to display a 1 pixel wide border around all wrap panel cells, kinda like excel grid. Unfortunately the wrap panel does not implement the grid ShowGridLines property. I can't put a border inside every cell because adjacent cells will have a 2 pixel border instead of 1 pixel. Since the wrap panel arranges it's layout dynamically and does not expose it's properties I can't evaluate the correct value for a border inside a cell. Any workaround possible?

  • WPF: How to get Binding.Converter

    - by Nike
    I create DataGrid Columns with Binding (where i is a Int value): dataGrid.Columns.Add(new DataGridTextColumn { Header = i.ToString(), Binding = CreateBinding(i), }); private Binding CreateBinding(int num) { Binding bind = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", num)); bind.Converter = new CellValueConverter(); return bind; } In the CreateBinding method I have an access to bind.Converter property. I need to call Converter.Convert() method in some handler, but there is no Converter property when I try to access it: (dataGrid.Columns[clm] as DataGridTextColumn).Binding."no Converter property!" How can I get my CellValueConverter which was created for particular Column?

  • Compare GetNextInsertionPosition and GetNextContextPosition in WPF

    - by paradisonoir
    As I enter a character in my RichTextBox, I want to get the next character from the its TextRange. So here is how I do it: TextPointer ptr1= RichTextBox.CaretPosition; char nextChar = GetNextChar(); while (char.IsWhiteSpace(nextChar)) { ptr1= ptr1.GetNextInsertionPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward); nextChar = GetCharacterAt(Ptr1); } then I get the ptr1 of the next character and from the TextPointer, I get the TextRange, and do my changes. So here is the problem? when the next word is spelled correctly, I have no problem, but if it's not spelled properly then ptr1 would not point to the first character of the next word (the second character), and if I use GetNextContextPosition(LogicalDirection.Forward) it would give me the first letter of the next word if it's misspelled. So depending on the spelling only one of them works? I was just wondering if you have any idea about this problem? Is there anything wrong I am doing here?

  • Accessing WPF Template for Custom Control from Code behind

    - by Ashwani Mehlem
    Hi, i am trying to access a named grid inside a default template for a custom control from code behind. But it seems that the template for the control is null, even after calling ApplyTemplate(). Is that impossible inside the controls constuctor? Here's the code: Generic.xaml: ... <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:TimeTableControl}"> <Grid Name="ContentGrid"> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> ... TimeTableControl.cs: public TimeTableControl() { ApplyTemplate(); contentGrid = (Grid)(Template.FindName("ContentGrid", this)); //Line above causes null-pointer-exception ... }

  • Horrorble performance using ListViews with nested objects in WPF

    - by Christian
    Hi community, like mentioned in the title I get a horrible performance if I use ListViews with nested objects. My scenario is: Each row of a ListView presents an object of the class Transaction with following attributes: private int mTransactionID; private IBTTransactionSender mSender; private IBTTransactionReceiver mReceiver; private BTSubstrate mSubstrate; private double mAmount; private string mDeliveryNote; private string mNote; private DateTime mTransactionDate; private DateTime mCreationTimestamp; private BTEmployee mEmployee; private bool mImported; private bool mDescendedFromRecurringTransaction; Each attribute can be accessed by its corresponding property. An ObservableCollection<Transaction> is bound to the ItemsSource of a ListView. The ListView itself looks like the following: </ListView.GroupStyle> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn core:SortableListView.SortPropertyName="Transaction.ToSave" Width="80"> Style="{StaticResource GridEditStyle}"> </ComboBox> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> As you can see in the screenshot the user got the possibility to change the values of the transaction attributes with comboboxes. Ok now to my problem. If I click on the "Laden" button the application will load about 150 entries in the ObservableCollection<Transaction>. Before I fill the collection I set the ItemsSource of the ListView to null and after filling I bind the collection to the ItemsSource once again. The loading itself takes a few milliseconds, but the rendering of the filled collection takes a long time (150 entries = about 20 sec). I tested to delete all Comboboxes out of the xaml and i got a better performance, because I don't have to fill the ComboBoxes for each row. But I need to have these comboboxes for modifing the attributes of the Transaction. Does anybody know how to improve the performance? THX

  • Problems with "global" exception handlers for unhandled exceptions in multithreaded WPF

    - by JustABill
    I have a program that, among other things, needs to be able to refresh the contents of a directory when the user tells it to. The actual task doesn't really matter, but this is the simplest way of causing this problem to occur that I know of. If I tell it to open a directory that doesn't exist, I get the "unhandled exception" dialog in VS with a stack trace of, from outer to inner: [External code] Textbox PreviewKeyUp event [External code] ClassA's path property being set ClassA's internal path update function being called A call to the INotifyPropertyChanged event [External code] A call to the getter for ClassB's list of children A call to ClassB's internal directory list function And then it fails inside this internal function. I have the following in my App.xaml.cs: private void Application_Startup(object sender, StartupEventArgs e) { AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException); Application.Current.Dispatcher.UnhandledException += new System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherUnhandledExceptionEventHandler(Dispatcher_UnhandledException); } But neither of their exception handlers are being called. If I run this program from outside VS, I don't get notified of an exception at all, it just breaks because of the invalid input. And yes, the Application_Startup event is being called. How can I properly "trap" this exception so I can provide a friendly error message and kill the program?

  • Keeping WPF grids from getting out of parent bounds

    - by Jonathan Perry
    In my UI, I have a big grid with two columns and one row. in the right column, I have a grid with three rows where in the top row I have a user control, and in the two bottom rows I have two Expander objects, each containing an ItemsControl with a list that gets populated in runtime. Sometimes, that list gets really long and "spills" from the screen towards the bottom. What I want to do is to allow the user to see both expanders, be able to expand or collapse them while keeping them both in sight. I tried wrapping them in WrapPanels or StackPanel but to no avail. Here's some code to help explain my problem: <Grid Grid.Row="1" x:Name="grid1"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> <RowDefinition Height="*" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Expander Grid.Row="0" Header="Expander 1" x:Name="expander1" FontSize="14" IsExpanded="True"> <Expander.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="#FFC4C4C4" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="1" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Expander.Background> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding ViewModel.OpenAlerts, ElementName=m_viewControl}" ClipToBounds="True"/> </Expander> <Expander Grid.Row="1" x:Name="expander2" Header="Expander 2" FontSize="14" IsExpanded="True"> <Expander.Background> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,1" StartPoint="0.5,0"> <GradientStop Color="#FFC4C4C4" Offset="0" /> <GradientStop Color="White" Offset="1" /> </LinearGradientBrush> </Expander.Background> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding ViewModel.ClosedAlerts, ElementName=m_viewControl}" ClipToBounds="True"/> </Expander> </Grid> Any assistance or tips will be highly appreciated! Thanks, John.

  • WPF: change DataTemples according to Value

    - by Kave
    I have a class called Cell with two properties. One is called Value of type int? And the other is called Candidates of type ObservableCollection during the initialization I am utilizing a DataTemplateSelector to choose between two datatemplates for two different scenarios. If the Value property has a value then template A should be used to present the Cell class. However if the Value property is null Then template B should be used to present the Cell class. While this works perfectly fine during the initialization however during the runtime the templates don't change any more when the value of the Value property actually changes. Is the approach of using DataTemplateSelector the wrong approach to change DataTemplates dynamically? What would you recommend I should do? Many thanks,
