  • Embedding a WMV file on the web via URL in a Powerpoint presentation

    I've got a situation where I want to distribute a Powerpoint presentation to several people. I want to be able to embed several large videos in this presentation by linking to a URL, for the following specific reasons: the videos are highly confidential, and I would like to be able to delete them at some later date, but still allow them to see it in the presentation while it is online. I want to send the presentation via email (so it should be small), and put the links on a server with a faster upload speed Maybe I'd like to change the video at some point without changing the presentation One option that addresses #1 is to hook up a webcam and allow them to see video stream from the office, but our upload rate is too slow for this to be a viable option. I've tried embedding a video and giving Powerpoint the URL. It seems to work initially, because the first frame appears in my slideshow. However, when I play the slideshow, nothing happens. I looked at the network traffic on my computer, and nothing was getting downloaded from the remote server. Any suggestions on how to make this work, or how to at least satisfy the criteria listed above would be great!

    I'm finishing professional school and over the years have acquired a pile of notes and articles that I'd like to hang onto. I'd like to add to them and create sort of an archive of article and files that may be useful down the road. I'd also like to organize this collection of files not only by simple grouping but also with tags. I feel like that will make searching through them years later much easier. Suggestions on software that would be good for this? Just a general file manager, something that uses tags that can be attached to each file? Thanks

  • Apache rewrite rules and special characters

    I have a server where some files have an actual %20 in their name (they are generated by an automated tool which handles spaces this way, and I can't do anything about this); this is not a space: it's "%" followed by "2" followed by "0". On this server, there is an Apache web server, and there are some web pages which links to those files, using their name in URLs like http://servername/file%20with%20a%20name%20like%20this.html; those pages are also generated by the same tool, so I (again!) can't do anything about that. A full search-and-replace on all files, pages and URLs is out of question here. The problem: when Apache gets called with an URL like the one above, it (correctly) translates the "%20"s into spaces, and then of course it can't find the files, because they don't have actuale spaces in their names. How can I solve this? I discovered than by using an URL like http://servername/file%2520name.html it works nicely, because then Apache translates "%25" into a "%" sign, and thus the correct filename gets built. I tried using an Apache rewrite rule, and I can succesfully replace spaces with hypens with a syntax like this: RewriteRule (.*)\ (.*) $1-$2 The problem: when I try to replace them with a "%2520" sequence, this just doesn't happen. If I use RewriteRule (.*)\ (.*) $1%2520$2 then the resulting URL is http://servername/file520name.html; I've tried "%25" too, but then I only get a "5"; it just looks like the initial "%2" gets somewhat discarded. The questions: How can I build such a regexp to replace spaces with "%2520"? Is this the only way I can deal with this issue (other than a full search-and-replace which, as I said, can't be done), or do you have any better idea?

  • Nginx Not Passing URL Parameters

    Messing around with Nginx ... for some reason, it looks like none of my URL parameters are being passed. My homepage loads fine, but a URL like "http://mysite.com/more.php?id=101" throws errors, saying that the ID is an undefined index. I'm assuming this is something basic I'm missing in a conf file.   • Set default tab url in firefox 14

    In the latest firefox update, new tabs show -instead of the previously default blank page- a window of recently viewed pages. Before this was available, I had installed an 'addon' to allow this (called 'fvd speed dial'). It worked fine however I have since delete.d this as it is no longer needed but still loads the page where the addon was housed:'chrome://fvd.speeddial/content/fvd_about_blank.html'. I have reinstalled firefox yet the same problem still occurs. On the 'about:config' page I have found the setting 'browser.newtab.url' but do not know the default url. Is there any way to remedy this? I will just add, I appologise if this is not the case with the new tab feature. It is all I have gathered from the firefox update page. Also, I do not want to, ideally, simply restore my settings as I have changed some of them (such as the search bar, that work fine. I am on windows-xp, home edition. Not sure of what service pack.

  • URL sniffer/downloader

    Some websites have Flash content that plays music or videos. Most of the time they don't show you the URL of these music or videos, but for example, you can sniff a YouTube webpage and find the flv file that YouTube is actually requesting and playing. Right now I'm using Orbit Downloader, which has a feature called Grab++ that does just this; you start it, and then you refresh the page, and it shows you all files of certain types (image, audio, video) that the webpage requests, and then you can select one or more and download and it downloads them. But, I don't like Orbit, it installs plugins and has the whole download manager thing which I don't really want. What is a good alternative program? I'm not looking for websites like kickyoutube.com, I want a URL sniffer I guess. HTTPGuideDog used to be my Firefox add-on that did exactly this, but it hasn't been updated even to FF3 (and yes I know I can hack it to load anyway, I'm looking for something natively available preferably). I vaguely know of WireShark but last time I used it, I believe it captures individual packets, which is a little too fine-tuned for me. I just want to be able to see what's happening, and download something that the webpage downloaded. Oh, and I'm using Windows 7. Linux probably has some fancy command-line tool, but it just won't cut it for me. :-\ Edit: Oh, and something free please. Feel free to mention paid solutions though.

  • Message Date/Time tag in Lotus Notes

    I've noticed that within Notes (8.5.2, basic client, fat client and iNotes) the date/time displayed on the eMail envelope AND the date/time on the message header is the same and appearently that time that Domino received the message. When using BES, the message forwarded to the BlackBerry by Domino/BES has the RECEIVED date/time on the envelope and the SENT date/time displayed in the message. In the basic/fat client with properties the sent time is viewable in one of the "Received" tags. Having the sent time easily viewable is helpful, especially if your trying to trouble-shoot a problem. Is this a configuration feature? Is it selectable in the client or in Domino? Thx

    Is there a program that would dump the complete structure of ID3v2 tags? Not just the frame names and values, but full information such as frame order, text encoding, description encoding (for TXXX frames), presence of unsynchronization, presence of multiple tags... Background: I'm rather curious why some files are incompatible with some programs. For example, some ID3v2.4 tags written by foobar2000 are not read by Winamp; editing with Mutagen fixes them but editing with foobar2000 breaks again. It's not the version or data encoding – most other v2.4 UTF-16 tags work fine... However, if I use foobar2000 to convert the tags to v2.3, then back to v2.4, they start working fine in Winamp – this last bit just does not make any sense. Edit: Linux or/and Windows.

  • Scripting around the lack of user:password@domain url functionality in jscript/IE

    I currently have a jscript that runs a php script on a server for me, dead simple. But... I want to be atleast somewhat secure so I setup a login. Now if I use the regular user:password@domain system it won't work (IE decided it was a security issue). And if I let IE just remember the password then it pops up a security message confirming my login every time (which kills the point of the button). So I need a way to make the security message go away. I could lower security settings, which tbh I am fine with but nothing seems to make it fuck off (there might be some registry setting to change). Find a fix for jscript that will let me use a password in the url. There used to be a regedit that worked for older systems which allowed IE to use url passwords (not working on my 64bit windows7 setup) though I doubt that'd have helped jscript anyways (since it outright crashes). Use an app other than IE. Inwhich case I'm not sure how to go about it, I want it to be responsive and invisible so IE was a good choice. It is near instant. Use XMLHttpRequest instead of IE directly? May even be faster but I've no idea if it'd help or just have the same error. Use a completely different approach.     We have a task which builds based on data from 4 different SVN repositories. I want to allow QA promote a build, so that the revisions participating in the build are tagged with the build number and some optional label. I have encountered the following problem - the promoted build may not be the most recent build. How do I know the SVN revision of each of the four repositories used during that build? I know that each build has this information in the revision.txt and build.xml files associated with the build, but how does it become available in the context of promotion? Thanks. P.S.     I'm a CS uni student in a country with limited bandwidth, and I find that I download files (particularly install files) for reuse\reinstallation\giving to my friends.. I've kept these files in different folders, and now find it extremely hard to find them, and keeping track of obselete files (the almost weekly releases of iTunes versions, or latest 7zip release or the .Net framework installers). What I would like to find is a file manager that could support tags, so instead of hierachical folders, i could find\view files according to their tags...

  • not able to style a ul inside a nav tag

    I am trying to make a nav menu for my website and have been using http://www.onextrapixel.com/2011/06/03/how-to-create-a-horizontal-dropdown-menu-with-html-css-and-jquery/ as a guide. It has worked fine but as soon as I try to add ( id="coolMenu" ) to the nav tag it stops working. I took it away from the ul tag and added it to the nav tag and it no longer works. It does not display anything at all. What am in doing wrong?   • How to use htaccess to rewrite url to html anchor tag (#)

    Hi - I have a situation where I want to take the following URL: /1/john and have it redirect using Apache's htaccess file to go to /page.php?id=1&name=john#john so that it goes to an html anchor with the name of john. I've found a lot of reference to escaping special characters, and to adding the [NE] flag so that the redirect ignores the # sign, but these don't work. For example, adding [NE,R] means that the URL just appears in the browser address as the original: http://mysite.com/page.php?id=1&name=john#john. Any help would be appreciated.

  • facebook meta tag description not updating

    3 days ago I updated description within the meta tag of facebook, but change does not reflect when sharing link on facebook. Instead old description still appears. According to Facebook, it scrapes your page every 24 hours to ensure the description (and other share data) are up to date. However, one can manually refresh it by entering the post URL into the Facebook URL Linter I did manually refresh it as well as now waited for 3 days. When i see debugging output from linter, it shows the correct up-to-date description, but old description still shown when sharing a link. How to reproduce: This is our website: https://www.tradeinsports.se/#tis1 (It's in swedish so bear with me please). If you go to above link and click on any of the two available products, and then share on facebook, you can see the difference in description from the one which appears in linter debugging output. Any help would be appreciated.

  • JQuery div tag has children in FireFox but not Chrome

    I am using JQuery ajax to load images from a url, display them, and then place a button on top of each image. The code works in firefox, but in chrome, the div parent "photos" that should have all the children(one child div "photo" for each image received from the url) is 0. I have tried read() and load(), but nothing seems to work. If I run alert($('#photos').children().size()); in the Chrome console it returns the children. But at execution it returns 0. The call back to server is rather costly but ok if specifically requested on the sub-page / content page on which my div tag needs to be filled. My problem is that the code runs on every page, including pages where the div tag is not present. How can I remedy my code?   • How do i bind an image to a <asp:Image /> tag in Form View

    First i have a getProfileImage.aspx which accepts a CusID and TN as query strings and display n image. So getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=10&TN=Y will show the image fine in the browser :) But... Now i am presented with a Form View and i want to bind the src of the image to get the image from the getProfileImage.aspx page... The following code works fine :) 10 is the customer ID and the image is working fine... <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" Height="151px" ImageUrl='~/getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=10&TN=N' /> But now i want to Bind the CusID value... <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" Height="151px" ImageUrl='~/getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=<%# Bind("CusID") %>&TN=N' /> This simply does not work :( The getProfileImage.aspx is called with CusID=<%... where the way i see it the <%# Bind("CusID") % is not parsed by ASP which would have returned 10... <%# Bind("CusID") %> The above tag alone will work... but inserting it to the middle of the tag seems to break it... Any suggestions ? Thanx a lot in advance :)
