  How do you explicitly request fx forwards as outrights using the bloomberg API? In the Bloomberg terminal you can choose whether to get FX Forwards as absolute rates (outrights) or as offsets from Spots (Points) by doing XDF, hitting 7, then the option is about half way down. 0 means outrights, and 1 means offfsets. With most defaults you can explicitly set them in the API, so your code gives the same result whichever computer you run on. How do you set this one in a V3 API query?

• Access DoCmd.OpenForm Not Working

  Looking for a second set of eyes to figure out my problem with an Access form filter. I created a search form, when filled in, appends search criteria to a string variable (strQuery) that is put in place to the [WhereCondition] for opening a form. However, when the script is ran, nothing comes up except for a filtered form with no records. Here is the line that opens the form: DoCmd.OpenForm "ADD_NEW_NCMR", , , strQuery Before the line is ran, strQuery equals: 1=1 AND [NCMR].[NCMR_NUM] = '12-129' The form name, and table.column combination are all correct. In fact, using the DCount function returns the result of 1, which is correct for this query, and returns the correct number for other queries as well. This makes me think that there is nothing wrong with the where condition. DCount("[NCMR_NUM]", "NCMR", strQuery)

• Android: Width and Height of View After Orientation Change

  I need to get the width and height of a WebView and pass them in the query string of the URL I am loading in the WebView. I have found a way to do this in onResume(). Since the width and height are not calculated at this point, I post a Runnable to the WebView to be queued for after the UI loads. Here's my problem: when the orientation changes, I am handling it in onConfigurationChanged. When I try to post a Runnable in onConfigurationChanged to the WebView, the WebView's width and height end up being the old orientation's width and height. At what point can I intercept the new width and height after orientation change?

  I'm doing some data migration from a horribly designed database to a less horribly designed database. There is a many to many relationship that has a primary key in one table that corresponds to a comma separated list in another. FK_ID | data ------------- 1,2 | foo 3 | bar 1,3,2 | blarg Is there a way to output the FK_ID field with each comma separated element as a single line in the result set? result set FK_ID | data ------------- 1 | foo 2 | foo 3 | bar 1 | blarg 2 | blarg 3 | blarg I'm thinking this would require some sort of recursive query which I don't think mysql has. • How to fix Ubuntu 12.04.3 boot to black screen full of errors in white text, after upgrading on dell inspiron 1501

  I am running a Dell Inspiron 1501 I use Linux only. No Microsoft or Apple operating systems (or really anything closed-source). I've only been using Linux for a little over a year but I'm starting to gain a comfortable level of familiarity with the system and terminology. I've been having some issues with Quantel Quetzal and Raring Ringtail, especially with older hardware, so I opted to install Ubuntu 12.04.3 Precise Pangolin on the Inspiron 1501. I checked my MD5 sum after downloading my ISO and all was good. I have in fact used this iso/dvd to install Precise Pangolin successfully on a few other systems (some of which are even older than this laptop). Install goes fine. The wireless card doesn't work out of the box but this is a known issue which is fairly easy to fix. So, first thing I did was open up a terminal and run sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade which, part way through, crashed (I assume lightdm and possibly X) and took me to a black screen filled with white lines of text that were either errors or just the ouputs of commands. The reason I say that is because I was unable to gleam any useful information from the output on the screen. I did take a picture however and will post a link. After that, every time I boot the system it goes right to that black screen posting all the error messages or output in white text. I never get a purple Ubuntu splash, so from what I can tell after reading this wiki article: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/BlankScreen That means that after the kernel is selected, it is unable to correctly implement the settings it needs. If the purple splash never shows, the frame buffer was never set correctly right? This leads me to believe that it could be a kernel issue? The wiki suggested to try and pinpoint the issue by rolling back kernels until I find one that works. Is this my best option? I think I'm going to give it a try anyways and will let everyone know if I am able to solve the issue this way. I have since done a few reinstalls and some trouble-shooting including a couple hours scouring the net for anyone with any kind of similar issue. Most of the issues I could find involved getting a black screen after login and none of them said anything about any information output on this black screen. My reinstalls have taught me that there is no issue updating, but as soon as I run sudo apt-get upgrade my system goes to the black screen and every time I boot it up it does the same thing. The only way to fix is by reinstall. I never get any ability to log in. After a hard power off to the laptop (because I cannot use ctrl+alt+del to reboot) when it boots again it goes to the grub boot menu and I can select between regular boot, recovery mode and the two memtest options. I never tried the memtest options but the other two both lead to the same black screen. Some people having a black/blank screen issue claim to have fixed it by using 12.10 or 13.04 but I believe they were having a different issue where they got a black/blank screen after logging in. I think I will still give these images a try, but mostly figured I would just wait another day or two for 13.10. Other things I figured I would try from the following three articles: After logging in, there's a black screen and my cursor, nothing else! in Ubuntu 12.10 Black Screen on Login After Upgrading to 12.04 I can't get to the login screen include opening a terminal using ctrl+alt+f1 and trying a variety of reseting unity, x settings, lightdm (or switching to gdm); but I doubt this will work or that I will even be able to access a terminal. I'm pretty sure the whole system is stuck after it loads the last line on the black screen. I will try these things and post more information when I have. Hopefully someone has an idea in the meantime and I will keep checking back trying to find a solution. Thank you. Here are 3 different pictures of the error message.   I am using the following code in Wordpress to query events (custom post type) and order them by date chronologically.. query_posts( array( 'post_type' => 'events', 'showposts' => 10, 'orderby' => 'meta_value_num','meta_key' => '_ecmb_datetime' ) ); Where the meta key _ecmb_datetime is, this is the timestamp of the event. I don't want to show events that have already happened, so my question is how do I only show events happening after my current time, and how do I sort reverse chronologically? Any help is greatly appreciated

• Google App Engine - Dealing with concurrency issues of storing an object

  My User object that I want to create and store in the datastore has an email, and a username. How do I make sure when creating my User object that another User object doesn't also have either the same email or the same username? If I just do a query to see if any other users have already used the username or the email, then there could be a race condition. UPDATE: The solution I'm currently considering is to use the MemCache to implement a locking mechanism. I would acquire 2 locks before trying to store the User object in the datastore. First a lock that locks based on email, then another that locks based on username. Since creating new User objects only happens at user registration time, and it's even rarer that two people try to use either the same username or the same email, I think it's okay to take the performance hit of locking. I'm thinking of using the MemCache locking code that is here: http://appengine-cookbook.appspot.com/recipe/mutex-using-memcache-api/ What do you guys think?

• How do I request a single random row from a force.com database in SOQL?

  Total row-count is in the range 10k-100k rows. Can I use RAND() on force.com? Unfortunately although all the rows have a unique numeric identifier, there are many gaps, and I'd often want to select a random row from a filtered subset anyway. I suspect there's no particularly efficient way to do this, but is it possible at all? Ultimately all I want to do is to extract one row from a table (or a subset based on specific filter criteria) at random. If force.com doesn't let me select a random row, then can I query the rows to select from, and assign sequential IDs to all the rows, say 1-1,035, and then select a random number in that range locally, say 349, and then get row 349?

  I use ODBC to connect to SQL Server from PHP. In PHP I read some string (nvarchar column) data from SQL Server and then want to insert it to mysql database. When I try to insert such value to mysql database table I get this mysql error: Incorrect string value: '\xB3\xB9ow...' for column 'name' at row 1 For string with all ASCII characters everything is fine, the problem occurs when non-ASCII characters (from some European languages) exist. So, in more general terms: there is a Unicode string in MS SQL Server database, which is retrieved by PHP trough ODBC. Then it is put in sql insert query (as value for utf-8 varchar column) which is executed for mysql database. Can someone explain to me what is happening in this situation in terms of encoding? At which step what character encoding convertions may take place? I use: PHP 5.2.5, MySQL5.0.45-community-nt, MS Sql Server 2005.

• Using GET instead of POST to delete data behind authenticated pages

  I know you should use POST whenever data will be modified on a public website. There are several reasons including the fact that search engines will follow all the links and modify the data. My question is do you think it is OK to use GET behind authenticated pages in something like an admin interface? One example would be a list of products with a delete link on each row. Since the only way to get to the page is if you are logged in, is there any harm in just using a link with the product ID in the query string?

• Can I use SQL to update multiple rows with multiple values from another table?

  I've got a one to many table with ids and traits for those users. I want to copy one user's settings to another. userid trait onoff ------ ----- ----- 1 1 on 1 2 on 1 3 on 1 4 on 2 1 off 2 2 off 2 3 off 2 4 off So I want to copy the onoff values from user 1 to 2, so that user2 has everything on when I'm done. update table set onoff = (select onoff from table where userid=1) where userid=2 that's the basic idea, but obviously doesn't work. I imagine I want the server to think in terms of a correlated subquery, but the outer part isn't a query, it's an update. Is this even possible in one step?

  I'm looking to create a Visual Studio 2008 template that will create a basic project and based on remove certain files/folders based on options the user enters. Right now, I have followed some tutorials online which have let me create the form to query the user and pass the data into an IWizard class, but I don't know what to do from there. I am not concerned with performance optimization, because the results are being parsed to an XML file that will serve as a cache (database is hardly updated). So even a dirty solution would be fine. • Passenger, Apache and avoiding page caching

  I'm hosting a rack application with passenger and apache. The application is setup to cache the content of each request to the public directory after each request. This allows apache to serve the content directly as a static page for future requests. I would like to tell Apache, presumably through some rewrite rules that any requests with query parameters should not be cached, but instead passed down to the rack application. With a mongrel setup I would just redirect it to the balancer if it meets my rewrite conditions. How do you do the same with passenger?

  I have a report that I need to parse/scrape for loading into an alternate or query-able data store. The report looks like something akin to: this. My gut is that PERL would do a decent job, but I have several different permutations of the report and I don't really want to make a script around each form. This report is a pretty stock type report, and I have seen where Monarch Pro can parse these types of reports, but I have had a difficult time finding alternatives to how these could be parsed since I'm looking to do this working primarily in a Linux environment. Any suggestions?

As we have rank() function in sql server do we have something with which we can find the students rank???
