• Collision detection on sub views contained in 2 separate parent UIViews?

  Hi All, I originally setup some conditions using CGRectIntersectsRect for some collision detection which worked fine. In the greater scale of things I only need part of the view to be detected. So originally within the ViewController it was comparing 2 UIviews. Now what I need to do is collision detection of subViews within 2 different UIViews that are contained in a view in which the view controller does the logic. My script is no longer working as I suspect CGRectIntersectsRect only compares frames within the same view? I'll keep digging to confirm this. Any ways around this? Is it possible for example to get the x and y pos of the sub view in relation to the main view that's performing the logic?

• Why does var evaluate to System.Object in "foreach (var row in table.Rows)"?

  When I enter this foreach statement... foreach (var row in table.Rows) ...the tooltip for var says class System.Object I'm confused why it's not class System.Data.DataRow. (In case you're wondering, yes, I have using System.Data at the top of my code file.) If I declare the type explicitly, as in... foreach (DataRow row in table.Rows) ...it works fine with no errors. Also if I do... var numbers = new int[] { 1, 2, 3 }; foreach (var number in numbers) ...var evaluates to struct System.Int32. So, the problem is not that var doesn't work in a foreach clause. So, there's something strange about DataRowCollection where the items don't automatically evaluate to DataRow. But I can't figure out what it is. Does anyone have an explanation?

• How can i pass nothing or a blank cell to an Optional argument in VBA?

  I am trying to set up a function so that whether I pass a blank cell or do not even select a cell for the argument it returns the function I am looking for. My question is if I got a 1-2 lakh entry in this table is this query is sufficient for the purpose ? or this query will take time to execute ? In most cases I have to show last 2 days data + periodically ( interval of 10 mins ) checking for updates with ajax from this table ... Please help Thanks

  I have a problem with displaying a set height in ie. In my css I have set a height for my sidebar div as 2150px; which it displays fine in firefox but does not display the full height in ie. How can I get ie to display the height I have set in ie? • Ruby on Rails - can't access datetime model object

  I've created a model that has 3 string columns and a datetime. Everything is running in SQLite3 and I can view the records in my table just fine using Lita. I'm trying to display the values in a page (index action) using code like this: <% @details.each do |lifeCycle| % <%= debug(lifeCycle)% <%= lifeCycle.lifeCycleId % <%= lifeCycle.eventType % <%= debug(lifeCycle.timeId) % <% end % From the debug I get a result like this: --- !ruby/object:LifeCycle attributes: eventType: Order created_at: "2111359287.23037" timeId: "2455364.89983796" eventId: "98765" updated_at: "2111359287.23037" lifeCycleId: "12345" id: "1" attributes_cache: {} But whenever I try to access the event timeId - i' getting a nil value. This is true if i try to run debug on just that field debug(lifeCycle.timeId), or call a function on it. Is there something obvious I'm missing here?

• Image impending other elements in iphone app view!

  Hi. If someone could help I have a view in my iphone app with an image, a label and a button. I have positioned the image at the back however when I run the simulator the image is all that is showing. I have done exactly the same thing with other views and they work fine but can't get this one to work. I have checked that the image is "send to back" and other elements are at the front. • Perl scraping script not recognising certain characters

  I have a script that works fine locally but on the server fails. It displays the non-breaking space symbol &nbsp; as ? when printing to standard output. In the parsing of the page, if I try to get rid of non breaking space symbol with s/&nbsp;//g nothing happens, neither getting rid of the question mark s/?//g It seems to stick no matter what. Bizzarely, this is not an issue when running the script locally. Additionally, question marks within a diamond symbol are inserted everywhere (on both the server script and the local script) instead of apostrophes, although at least that is not causing the parsing of the page to break on the local page. Confused, pls help.

  I'm new to Rails and trying to send a request to Chargify to cancel a subscription. Their API says I need to send the method DELETE to a xml URL. This isn't a Chargify based question but rather... how would I have a user click a button that then generates this request and sends it within my Rails app? • Program Terminates On File Move

  I have a .Net program that, as one of its functions, takes a file from a user-specified directory and puts it in another, special, directory, specified via UNC (which may or may not be local). I don't open any of these files in this part of the code. There's this bizarre bug I'm having where, on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 VM, this program randomly does a hard abort while doing the move to a local folder. It just terminates. No exception, no logging, and it doesn't appear to happen at any particular moment. I can't reproduce this problem on my development machine, and it only appears to happen during the copy of a particular kind of file that's about a megabyte or so. There are other formats copied to different directories using very similar code, all smaller, and they work fine. Why would a Windows .Net program do a hard abort like this? What can I do to fix it?

Basically I am attaching the file to the list based on whether the file is present or not. I am looking for any other elegant solution than the one I have written. But i debugged it with jquery.lint because it was throwing some random error in IE. lint tells me: When I called animate(...) with your args, an error was thrown! TypeError: c.speed is not a function { message="c.speed is not a function", more...} You passed: [Object { marginLeft="-=640px"}, 800, function()] and it indicates me the line i have posted. I have checked the jquery doc, but my syntax seams ok. Do you know what i am doing wrong?

• Get ffmpeg information in friendly way

  Every time I try to get some information about my video files with ffmpeg, it pukes a lot of useless information mixed with good things. I'm using ffmpeg -i name_of_the_video.mpg. There are any possibilities to get that in a friendly way? I mean JSON would be great (and even ugly XML is fine). By now, I made my application parse the data with regex but there are lots of nasty corners that appear on some specific video files. I fixed all that I encountered, but there may be more.   I am using GUI2Exe to compile my python/pygame, game to a .exe I have a problem with the font module. using python 2.7 and the py2exe option in GUI2Exe I have updated python, pygame and py2exe with the 2.7 versions. My program runs fine but after I compile it with py2exe I get this. Here is the error I get: Fatal Python error: (pygame parachute) Segmentation Fault This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. My game starts off as a console and that part runs. But as soon as the display starts I get the crash. Thanks

• How do I get the output from a Perl pipe as it becomes available?

Since the Ant build can take 5 minutes, I would like to see the output line by line. Instead, I'm getting the entire input at the end of the process. Looking at it with the Perl debugger, Perl waits at the 'for' statement, until Ant terminates. Why is that?

• Making sure an 'int' is bound on sqlite

  I have a method called like this... -(void)dbUpdate:(int)forId { Which contains this sqlite to bind and update a database. sqlite3_bind_int(UPDATE_ACCOUNT, 3, forId); When I run the query, it doesn't give me an error, but it doesn't update the database either. If I change this line of code... sqlite3_bind_int(UPDATE_ACCOUNT, 3, forId); manually, to... sqlite3_bind_int(UPDATE_ACCOUNT, 3, 6); the query runs 100% fine, as expected. Changing the variable to an actual integer proves to me that the variable 'forId' isn't being passed or bound to the query properly. What am I doing wrong? How is the best way to pass an Integer (and make sure it is an Integer) into an sqlite bind? Cheers,

  I am new to objective c programming. I am currently trying to insert data into mysql database. I have read a couple links on this and could not find the exact answer I am looking for. Here is what I am trying to do: I have my app that user inputs a name in a text field and once the press the add button, it makes a connection to my php file and my php file does the rest of the work (using POST method) and adds the name to the mysql dataase. I have seen a lot of people use NSMutableURLRequest : setHTTPMethod :POST`` in their code (in my case my php file does that and I don't haveNSMutableURLRequest` included in my code and it works perfectly fine.) My questions are: Are there any benefits of including NSMutableURLRequest in your code when you can just call your php code to take care of the POST for you? What does NSMutableURLRequest exactly do and which way is more efficient?

  I've got some non-copyable classes. I don't invoke any of the copy operators or constructor, and this code compiles fine. But then I upgraded to Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate instead of Professional. Now the compiler is calling the copy constructor- even when the move constructor should be invoked. • Is possible to remove an event listener in actionscript 3 (flash) ??

  In the frame 1 of my movie, part of my code is: stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler); It works all fine, but when i go to the frame 2 the listener is still there but the function resizeHandler is not anymore (and i dont want it). • Is new int[10]() valid c++?

  While trying to answer this question I found that the code int* p = new int[10](); compiles fine with VC9 compiler and initializes the integers to 0. So my questions are: First of all is this valid C++ or is it a microsoft extension? Is it guaranteed to initialize all the elements of the array? Also, is there any difference if I do new int; or new int();? Does the latter guarantee to initialize the variable?
