  • Can Uploadify send e-mail on complete?

    Uploadify is a jQuery/Flash plugin for uploading multiple files. It's working great, except I can't figure out how trigger e-mail when all files are complete. If I try to add something like <% SendEmail(); %> to the onAllComplete parameter, it just sends the e-mail when the page loads. Is there a way to do this within the handler recommended here or from this post? Or is there some way to trigger a post in the onAllComplete parameter?

    I wrote a program in java that rolls a die and records the total number of times each value 1-6 is rolled. I rolled 6 Million times. Here's the distribution: #of 0's: 0 #of 1's: 1000068 #of 2's: 999375 #of 3's: 999525 #of 4's: 1001486 #of 5's: 1000059 #of 6's: 999487 (0 wasn't an option.) Is this distribution consistant with random dice rolls? What objective statistical tests might confirm that the dice rolls are indeed random enough?

    I am working on Solaris 10, Sun Studio 11. I am refactoring some old code, and trying to write unit tests for them. My make file looks like: my_model.o:my_model.cc CC -c my_model.cc -I/../../include -library=stlport4 -instances=extern unit_test: unit_test.o my_model.o symbol_dictionary.o CC -o unit_test unit_test.o my_model.o symbol_dictionary.o -I../../include \ -library=stlport4 -instances=extern unit_test.o: unit_test.cc CC -c unit_test.cc -I/../../include -library=stlport4 -instances=extern symbol_dictionary.o: cd ../../test-fixtures && ($MAKE) symbol_dictionary.o mv ../../test-fixtures/symbol_dictionary.o . In the ../../test-fixtures makefile, I have the following target: symbol_dictionary.o: CC -c symbol_dictionary.cc -I/../../include -library=stlport4 -instances=extern I do the instances=extern because I had linking problems before, and this was the recommended solution. The consequence is in each directory that is being compiled, a SunWS_Cache directory is created to store the template instances. This is the long way to get to this question. Is it a standard practice to consolidate object files in a single directory before you link them?

  • Efficient way to maintain a sorted list of access counts in Python

    Let's say I have a list of objects. (All together now: "I have a list of objects.") In the web application I'm writing, each time a request comes in, I pick out up to one of these objects according to unspecified criteria and use it to handle the request. Basically like this: def handle_request(req): for h in handlers: if h.handles(req): return h return None Assuming the order of the objects in the list is unimportant, I can cut down on unnecessary iterations by keeping the list sorted such that the most frequently used (or perhaps most recently used) objects are at the front. I know this isn't something to be concerned about - it'll make only a miniscule, undetectable difference in the app's execution time - but debugging the rest of the code is driving me crazy and I need a distraction :) so I'm asking out of curiosity: what is the most efficient way to maintain the list in sorted order, descending, by the number of times each handler is chosen? The obvious solution is to make handlers a list of (count, handler) pairs, and each time a handler is chosen, increment the count and resort the list. def handle_request(req): for h in handlers[:]: if h[1].handles(req): h[0] += 1 handlers.sort(reverse=True) return h[1] return None But since there's only ever going to be at most one element out of order, and I know which one it is, it seems like some sort of optimization should be possible. Is there something in the standard library, perhaps, that is especially well-suited to this task? Or some other data structure? (Even if it's not implemented in Python) Or should/could I be doing something completely different?

    I really this is a hugely subjective topic but here is my current take: When calling methods which do not form part of the .NET BCL named parameters should always be used as the method signatures may well change, especially during the development cycle of my own applications. Although they might appear more verbose they are also far clearer. Is the above a reasonable approach to calling methods or have I overlooked something fundamental?

  • PHP / javascript live chat using too much bandwidth

    So I am learning about javascript, so I am making a live chat system with PHP and javascript. I have it so the javascript refreshes the log (each message gets logged in a file on the server), and it refreshes every second. Im using firebug to monitor the resource usage, and I see under the net tab each times its updated, and the bytes add up really fast. I know I can change it to update less, but is there a way that when a user on the other end I'm talking to, when the send a message, it gets sent to the server, then an alert gets sent to me saying that the chatlog needs to update somehow. That way it only updates when the log is updated. let me know, thanks

    Hi all, I'm new to Stack Overflow, so forgive me. I've just started transititoning over to C# and I am stuck on a problem. I am wanting to pass a generic class in and call a method from that class. So, my code looks as such: public void UpdateRecords<T>(T sender) where T : new() //where T: new() came from Resharper { Type foo = Type.GetType(sender.GetType().ToString()); object[] userParameters = new object[2]; userParameters[0] = x; userParameters[1] = y; sender = new T(); //This was to see if I could solve my exception problem MethodInfo populateRecord = foo.GetMethod("MethodInOtherClass"); populateMethod.Invoke(sender, userParameters); } Exception thrown: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Again, I really apologize, as I am nearly brand new to C# and this is the first time I've ever handled reflection and generics. Thank you!

  • Hibernate @Transactional not starting transaction

    I have a web app using Hibernate, and I am attempting to persist some data, but it is failing to persist within a Transaction despite using the @Transactional annotation. My service class is as follows: @Service("profileService") public class ProfileService { private EntityManager entityManager; @Autowired private AccountService accountService; @Autowired private ProfileDAOImpl profileDao; @PersistenceContext public void setEntityManager(EntityManager em) { this.entityManager = em; } @Transactional public void addConnectionToAccount(SocialConnection sc) { entityManager.persist(sc); } } The addConnectionToAccount() method is being called from another Spring bean in a normal method, and the ProfileService class is currently being injected there: public class HibernateConnectionRepository implements ConnectionRepository { @Inject private ProfileService profileService; @Override @Transactional public void addConnection(SocialConnection sc) { try { profileService.addConnectionToAccount(accountId, sc); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } I tried putting the @Transactional annotation on the calling method in the vain hope that it might make a difference but nothing. Previously I have experienced problems like this its been because the object being persisted does not satisfy table restrictions (such as non-nullable columns as null) or because the method is being called from within the same class and the calling method is not Transactional, but neither of those are the case here..   • Convert codes to HTML with CSS style

    I normally use VIM to edit my codes and convert them to HTML by using TOhtml command. The only thing I don't like is that the converted HTML does not have css class style definitions. I am not sure if there is tool to convert codes to HTML with css, or I can use additional tool or command to convert HTML HTML with css?
