• Frustrated With Wpf DataGrid

  Hello Experts, I have a tabcontrol and I place datagrid inside a tabcontrol... But I could not focus that Datagrid at the load event ... Focus means I couldn't navigate through keyboard into it... • How to read changed values with native query during one transaction? (Spring and JPA)

  We have container transaction with Spring and JPA (Hibernate). I need to make an update on a table to "flag" some rows via native statements. Then we insert some rows via EntityManager from JPATemplate to this table. After that, we need to calculate changes in the table via native statement (with Oracle's union and minus, complex groups...) I see that changes from step 1 and 2 are not commited and thats why the statement from 3 fails. I already tried with transaction propagation REQUIRES_NEW, EntityManager.flush... Didn't work. 1) update SOMETABLE acolumn = somevalue (native) 2) persist some values into SOMETABLE (via entity manager) 3) select values from SOMETABLE Is there a possibility to read the changes from step 1 and 2 in step 3?

  Read this on the oracle docs java.lang page: Frequently it is necessary to represent a value of primitive type as if it were an object. The wrapper classes Boolean, Character, Integer, Long, Float, and Double serve this purpose. I'm not sure I understand why these are needed. It says they have useful functions such as equals(). But if I can do (a==b), why would I ever want to declare them as Integer, use more memory and use equals()? How does the memory usage differ for the 2?

• How to override [Authorize] attribute in the MVC Web API?

  I have a MVC Web Api Controller that uses the [Authorize] attribute at the class level. This makes all of the api methods require authorization but I'd like to create an attribute called [ApiPublic] that overrides the [Authorize] attribute. There is a similar technique described here for normal MVC controllers. I tried creating an AuthorizeAttribute based of the System.Web.Http.AuthorizeAttribute but none of the overridden events are called if I put it on a api method that has the [Authorize] at the class level. Anyone have an idea how to override the authorize for the web api? • Are there any well-known algorithms or computer models that computer scientists use to predict FIFA

  Occasionally I read news articles that mention about some computer models that computer scientists use to predict winners of some sporting events or the odds for betting which I think there must be a mathematical model behind it. I never bothered to think twice even though I am a "pseudo computer scientist" myself. With the 2010 FIFA World Cup just underway, and since I am also a "pseudo football/soccer player" myself, I just started to wonder about these calculations algorithms. For example, I know one factor is determining the strength of opponents, so that a win against a strong opponent can count more than a win against a weak opponent. But it now kind of gets in a circular loop, or at least how does one determine the strength of a team in the first place, before that team can be considered strong or weak? If it's based on a historical data then there's no way that could be accurate, because those players of the past are no longer on the fields so their impact is none (except maybe if they become coaches like Maradona) Anyway, long question short, if you're happen to be working in this field or have some knowledge, please shed some lights.

• Using Components.utils.import in a firefox extension

  I am trying to create some global variables in a firefox extension. In my content folder, I have two javascript files: 1) Main JS file that holds the functions for the different events, etc 2) A file that stores only an object with the pieces of state I want to maintain. Also, I set the array EXPORTED_SYMBOLS. I am having issues with the following line found in my main JS file: Components.utils.import("resource:///globalVariables.js"); When it is at the top of the file, nothing seems to work. If I move it into the function where I need the variable, the rest of my code works, but the function with this line does nothing. Any advice that would help me with this problem would be great. How to solve it ???? what i have to do for the page compilation problem and page parser error tooo????? And 1 more thing is i had written the code of a button1 click event k after after i had opened that project if i double click on that button i am going to inline coding..   I just realized that my application was needlessly making 50+ database calls per user request due to some hidden coding -- hidden in the sense that between LINQ, persistence frameworks and events it just so turned out that a huge number of calls were being made without me being aware. Is there a recommended way to analyze individual transactions going to my SQL 2008 database, preferably with some integration to my Visual Studio 2010 environment? I want to be able to 'spy' on individual transactions being made, but only for certain pieces of my code, and without making serious changes to either the code or database.

• Why isn't it possible to update an ObservableCollection from a different thread?

  In a multi-threaded WPF application, it is not possible to update an ObservableCollection from a thread other than WPF window thread. I know there are workarounds, so my question is not how to avoid the "This type of CollectionView does not support changes to its SourceCollection from a thread different from the Dispatcher thread" exception. My question is, why there is such an exception? Why wasn't it possible to allow collection updates from any thread? Personally, I don't see any reason to block UI update when ObservableCollection is changed from other threads. If two threads (including parallel ones) are accessing the same object, one listening for changes of object properties through events, the other one doing changes, it will always work, at least if locks are used properly. So, what are the reasons?

It seems that Hibernate uses the value returned by the sequence hosted by my Oracle database, but then modify it before assigning it to my entity...

• Best way to update UI from other classes?

  I've got several nested classes, with the following structure: BackupLocation contains list of BackupClients BackupClients contains a list of BackupVersions BackupVersions contains a list of BackupFiles In my UI - Im populating a combo box with BackupLocations - and have several listboxes for the clients, versions, and files. When processing the BackupLocations - I can update my status bar easily because thats the top level class that the UI creates. But how can I update the status bar and progress bar on each file being processed? Since the BackupFiles are 3 levels deep, I cant see any way to update the UI. The actual processing of the files are within the BackupVersion class - which loads its files. I think it probably has something to do with events and delegates - but am unsure exactly how to proceed with this, any help would be appreciated.

Clients are allowed to call only this function. All other logic must be hidden. Order class is listening to market events and must call other other function of TradingSystem ExecuteOrder, so I have to make it public as well. • DataGridView that always has one row selected

  I'm using a DGV to show a list of images with text captions as a picklist. Their must always be a one and only one selection made in the list. I can't find a way to prevent the user from clearing the selection with a control-click on the selected row. Is there a property in the designer I'm missing that could do this? If I have to override the behavior in the mouse click events are there other ways the user could clear the current selection that need covered as well? Is there a third approach I could take that's less cumbersome than my second idea?

  I'm considering taking up scala programming but i'm really concerned about what will become of my ORM based applications. I currently use hibernate as my ORM and i find it a really reliable tool. I'd like to know if there's any ORM tool as efficient but written in scala, or will hibernate work seamlessly with it. i don't want to have to start writing endless sql queries again (like the days of JDBC). I also have the same thought about erlang. is there a good orm out there for erlang?? and can i use erlang with other DBMS like oracle and mysql with ORM

• jquery - sliding image group left and right (hiding the ones that are past a certain point)

  So I'm not really sure how to go about doing this at all. I've got an anchor on the left with id="left" and one on the right with id="right". On the hover event, the image thumbnails should start sliding left or right. If there's not enough thumbnails, there should be no sliding. It can only fit 4 images in between the left and right anchors. How can I hide all anchors that are not in between the left and right anchors? I want the images to actually slowly move left or right, not just be sudden. Any ideas? I know how to bind the events and such just fine. I just don't really now how to get started with the image placement.

  I am running my application locally -- ie. No external traffic and very low number of queries, fully under my control. I see tons of 'Audit Login' and 'Audit Logout' events. What are these and where are they actually stored (ie. Where is this audit log)? Are these a hint of a problem with connections, because I have only a simple connection string within my app and thought that connections would remain active throughout the operation of my app (ie. a single login at launch, and then a single logout when terminating).

  I would like to use GLUT 3.7 Window Toolkit in a program written in php because i saw that there was a binding in php. I am interesting in having multiple windows ! In order to have a clean code, i was wondering to separate on the one hand the window toolkit and on the other hand the OpenGL implementation. I hope that i can program event with the glut callbacks in php then the application get the events and can interacts ! But i don't know how to draw in each window from php with opengl ? They say in the man page that each glut window has an opengl context. How to get each context ? Can i render offscreen with each context ?

• How to float span properly

  I am developing this site http://indigonightlife.com/ The second section down is This Weeks Events. To the right of that heading is an image of the 5 little blue lines. The problem Im having is I cant get it to float to the right side of the container. As it is now, its in the middle of the container. Ive tried all kinds of combos of floats, clearfixes, and such but I cant get it to stay to the right. The section below titled Resident and Guest DJs has the same image but its floated fine. Not sure what the difference is. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  I'm trying to implement an input method service that receives intents sent by a remote client, and in response to those sends an appropriate KeyEvent. The events is sent to the parent activity behind the Dialog. Is there any way to send keys and control the device like using the hardware keys from an input method?

• Creating a Dynamic calendar in Silverlight

  I am attempting to create a long range calendar that dynamically loads (and unloads) event data as the user scrolls left or right through time. I'm really struggling to figure out how to lay the basic framework of the UI out and how to dynamically build the interface as the user scrolls by clicking and dragging the mouse in the view area. See the image below for a basic diagram of the intent. Each slice would have potentially multiple rectangles in it for events that occurred on that day (slice). I would like each slice to be a canvas to allow me to position those rectangles appropriately. There are a few problems that I am not yet sure how to tackle but this is the first big one that I've been mulling over for a while and can't quite wrap my head around: I know how to dynamically create controls but how would I go about adding things to one end of the scrollable content while removing things from the other depending on the way the user is scrolling? Any guidance in the right direction would be much appreciated! Thanks.

  I am looking for examples of code/data/infrastructure design for a dashboard-style webapp. I am designing an interface for staff and faculty at a university to access departmental resources and be alerted of cyclical processes, events, deadlines, etc. Technologies I am working with: apache tomcat 6 and a mySQL database, JSP (including JSTL), bootstrap 3, and javascript/jquery. I have basic experience most of these technologies building smaller web apps but was hoping someone could direct me towards a book or other resource that discusses how to design the db architecture (and maybe how to template) for a dashboard, esp. for something like a notification systems. • Controling the visibility of a Bitmap in .NET

  Hi everyone, I am trying to create this simple application in c#: when the user double clicks on specific location in the form, a little circle will be drawn. By one click, if the current location is marked by a circle - the circle will be removed. I am trying to do this by simply register the MouseDoubleClick and MouseClick events, and to draw the circle from a .bmp file the following way: private void MouseDoubleClick (object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { Graphics g = this.CreateGraphics(); Bitmap myImage = (Bitmap)Bitmap.FromFile("Circle.bmp"); g.DrawImage(myImage, e.X, e.Y); } My problem is that I dont know how to make the circle unvisible when the user clicks its location: I know how to check if the selected location contains a circle (by managing a list of all the locations containig circles...), but I dont know how exactly to delete it. Another question: should I call the method this.CreateGraphics() everytime the user double-clicks a location, as I wrote in my code snippet, or should I call it once on initialization?
