• Cannot change port 25 to port 587

  I am using outlook 2003. My email provider is Cox. Trying to change my out going port to 587 so I send mail while traveling. Others I know on Cox have done this with succes, but they are using newer version of outlook. When I go to change my existing email accounts, outlook will not allow me to change the settings. I can delete 25, but it will not allow me to type in 587. What am I doing wrong?

  Hi, today I accidently changed one option of Teminal Services, I checked "Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication". After that, I can't connect to my server any more. The error says: The remote computer requires Network Level Authentication, which your computer does not support. But my client pcs(both home and at office) are running Windows 7, as far as I know, it shoud support NLA; And in About dialog of Remote Desktop Connection there says "Supports Network Level Authentication". My server is running Windows Server 2008, placed in IDC center; I could connect to it before I change the settings. All other sevices(like IIS, SQL Server) are running normally. For clients, I tried two PCs running Windows 7, and two virtual windows XP machine running in Virtual PC and Virtual Box, all of them gives the same error message. Is there a way I can make things right without go to IDC which is far away? Thanks.

• Restored Domain Controller does not display any information using dcdiag command

  I am testing restoring a domain controller from system state backup to different hardware in a non production environment as a sanity check for our restoration procedure. When i run the dcdiag command I get "blank info back" and all that is displayed are two lines as follows: Domain Controller Diagnosis Performing initial setup: and then I am returned to the command prompt. Even when I do dcdiag /v i get the same result. I have double checked the DNS settings and Active Directory works properly. All FSMO roles are being held by this restored Domain Controller. I am able to join test pc's to the domain without issue etc Is this a common issue or is there something that I am missing. Thanks.

• IIS6 Indexing Service indexing asp.net codebehind (.aspx.cs) files

  I've setup a few catalogs on an Windows Server 2003 IIS6 install, each tracking files within a website. In the Properties - Generation Dialog for each catalog, 'Index files with unknown extensions' is turned OFF. 'Inherit above settings from Service' in that dialog is also turned off. However, the index is returning results for .cs files, along with abstracts for those files. I've emptied and restarted the catalogs but the files are still appearing. My understanding was the Indexing Service would by default only index HTML, ASCII, and Office Documents. What's going on?

• WebDAV, SVN, Apache2 on OS X 10.6.2

  Hi there, I'm trying to configure SVN server on OS X 10.6.2 via Apache2. Whenever I enable the module in Wev - Settings - Services then try accessing the site, it fails. So I attempted an apachectl configtest and I'm getting a crazy amount of errors: httpd: Syntax error on line 132 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_dav_fs.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_dav_fs.so, 10): Symbol not found: _dav_add_response\n Referenced from: /usr/libexec/apache2/mode_dev_fs.so\n Expected in: flat namespace\n in /usr/livexec/apache2/mod_dav_fs.so When I attempt disabling the related services and enabling then one by one (dav_fs_module, dav_module, dav_svn_module and authz_svn_mod each seems to fail. • Windows Media Center says "Searching for tuners" when I try to play live TV

  After upgrading from Windows 8 Pro with Media Center to the 8.1 preview, I need some help in being able to watch live TV again. When I try to now, it says Please Wait. Searching for tuners. I tried reinstalling the software for the Hauppauge WinTV DCR-2650 TV tuner, and upgrading the firmware for both the tuner and the Cisco STA-1520 tuning adapter. I also tried swapping around the USB ports, cold-booting the devices, and running the Set Up TV Signal setting in WMC, but that says The TV signal cannot be configured because a TV tuner was not detected. Both devices look fine in Device Manager, reporting the "This device is working properly" status. I'm not sure if this is related, but I did have some network connectivity issues immediately after upgrading to Windows 8.1 where my either my subnet mask or default gateway was missing, and since the TV tuner shows up as a network device, I wonder if that might be related. However, I really don't know how those settings should look and Hyper-V sort of further complicates things with the virtual Ethernet adapters:

  Hello, Do you know such an extension that provides easy document scanning in Firefox? We are building a web site and we want visitors to be able to upload scanned documents to it. The normal procedure for that is: Scan the document via Gimp, Photoshop or some other scanning software. Save the file. Navigate to the upload web page. Find some sort of HTML input type file on that page. Browse and find the saved file. Submit the form. I want an extension or plugin that automatize that process and do everything with 1 click - scan the document with some default settings (for example "grayscale, 300 dpi") creates temporary file, fills the page input field and deletes the temporary file after upload. I tried lots of googling but the term scan in combination with everything web-related gives zillions of virus, malware and port scanners...

• Why do I get error, Invalid command 'PythonHandler'?

  I'm trying to deploy a Django application, but I've hit a brick wall. On Debian (latest), I've run these commands so far: apt-get install apache2 apache2-doc apache2-mpm-prefork apache2-utils libexpat1 ssl-cert libapache2-mod-python python-django I've tried adding the module manually in the Apache 2 config files, but to be honest I'm totally lost. It's totally different to Apache version 1 which I used years ago. • Virtual PC: Cannot restore machine from hibernate

  I have two virtual machines set up from Virtual PC on Windows 7 Professional: Windows XP Mode and Xubuntu. Last time I used them (last month or so), I had closed them by hibernating. Evidently, I have meanwhile downloaded a Windows Update affecting VPC and now receive the following error in restoring either of them from hibernation: 'Xubuntu' could not be restored because of either host processor type mismatch or lack of hardware-assisted virtualization support in the system. I've been through the virtual machine's settings, and there's nowhere an option to simply reboot it. (Virtualization is not the problem, as I can create a new virtual machine without any problems.) Any ideas?

• Problem after resizing partition for Fedora under Vmware fusion

  Hi, I am running FC9 under VMware Fusion 3.0 I wanted to resize my /dev/sda2 partition. In order to do that I did the following: 0. changed the size of the vmware file (under VMware settings). 1. rebooted the host to rescue mode without mounted disks 2. fdisk - removed & added /dev/sda2 - i had bigger /dev/sda2 3. lvm pvresize /dev/sda2 4. lvm pvdisplay - it showed me bigger size on /dev/VolGroup00 for /dev/sda2 5. lvm vgchange -a y - device-mapper: reload ioctl failed: Invalid argument - 2 logical volume(s) in volume group "VolGroup00" now active This is not true because there is no /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 My whole "/" disappeared. dmsetup table, shows: VolGroup00-LogVol01: 0 2097152 linear 8:2 38338944 VolGroup00-LogVol00: Can some one help me to solve this? • Eclipse making background video skip with almost every click of the mouse

  The problem is i like to listen to videos online (mostly or all flash video) while programming and never had any problems until i started using eclipse, now every time i do just about anything other than type, it makes the video skip/freeze really bad and is really annoying. I have never had this happen using visual studio, netbeans, or adobe flash for that matter, unless i was compiling or doing something that hogs the processor. Are there any settings that might could fix this its getting really annoying. it happens almost every time i even click "find" on the find pop-up window and it is not like it is having to search a big file or anything it is only 700 lines, with honestly only about 1/2 that have content on them. Any ideas?

  I have bought Samsung 530U3C notebook with i5-3317/12GB RAM/500GB HDD/24GB ExpressCache/Windows 8 preinstalled. I would like to install my own clean version of Win8. But I would like to preserve recovery partition. I will sell this laptop in probably 1-1.5 year and I would like to be able to restore settings to factory ones. What is more, in the future I would like to install Ubuntu as well, but Windows goes first. • Setup Linksys 3200 remote access

  I'm trying to setup remote access for my linksys 3200 so that I can configure it through the WAN port. I have turned on remote access, however when I try to connect I get a 404 error. The settings I have are: When I try to access xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9999 I just get a 404 error. I have allowed RDP access to a computer behind the router and this works fine on the same IP address. Any idea's on what else I have to do to allow remote management access? UPDATE: I tried changing the port to 80 and it works. Change it back to any other number and it doesn't work. Modem is setup with a DMZ to the router's IP. Why does it only work on port 80? BTW I can't use port 80 because there is a website hosted behind the router.

  I get this error. The procedure entry php_mb_check_encoding_list could not be located in the dynamic link library php_mbstring.dll The error is related to the php.ini settings, I think.. It finds it difficult to locate the extension I suspect, I put an environment path to the php.exe and its extensions folder, but when I run the command line and call php.exe, that error is being thrown. I use windows. I have got this set in my php.ini. ; On windows: extension_dir = "C:\xampp\php\ext" I installed xampp.. the php version is the latest.. Another thing which is weird is when I try to print out: phpinfo..nothing is being printed out <?php echo phpinfo(); ?> nothing comes out?!?! The question is why and how can I prevent it from being thrown..

• What does "Local Domain Name" on router do and how do I get it to work?

  I have a D-Link DGL-4500 router. One of the settings is "Local Domain Name," which I have set to local (see screenshot). What I expect is for me to be able to hit my computers via name, e.g. m6.local should resolve to one of my computers; but this isn't happening. I know that I can do this via hosts file, but it would be neat if I could do it via the router... plus I have devices like an iPad that don't let you edit the hosts file. Am I misunderstanding this router feature or am I doing something wrong?

  Just assembled a new machine: MSI 880GM-E41 motherboard 500GB Samsung hard drive AMD Athlon II X4 640 processor 4GB RAM Windows 7 64 Bit LITE-ON Black 4X Blu-ray reader I boot up, start the install. When it gets to the screen to select what partition, the motherboard loses power. It doesnt make sense, I can leave it in the bios settings for a very long time and it doesnt lose power. When it does lose power, the monitor shuts down and the mouse loses power, but the power light stays on. I cannot tell if it is a harware or software problem.

• Trouble using remote desktop when connected via Cisco VPN

  I just setup my Cisco VPN and everything appears to be working fine. I opened the 'remote desktop' application and am unable to connect to my work desktop machine. When I disable Windows Firewall, I am able to connect, but not when Firewall is enabled. Is there a specific settings inside Windows 7 Firewall that should I be enabling or disabling for this to work without having to shut down the entire system?   I want to install the MaxMind GeoIP C library, so that I can use GeoIP as part of Django. I'm working on MacOS. I've downloaded GeoIP-1.4.8.tar.gz from here and run: ./configure make make check make install without any problems. I've also downloaded GeoIP.dat.gz and GeoLiteCity.dat.gz, unzipped them and put them in a local directory. Then I've set the following paths in my settings.py: GEOIP_PATH = 'path_to_dat_files' GEOIP_LIBRARY_PATH = 'path_to_c_files' Now I'm trying to run python manage.py migrate (which has a reference to GeoIP in a project I'm using), but I'm still getting this error: from django.contrib.gis.utils import GeoIP ImportError: cannot import name GeoIP Any ideas?   I manage a bunch of VPSs with memory ranging from 1GB to 8GB. Most of these websites are Joomla websites, and the servers must support multiple sites/users/S-FTP. I use mpm-itk almost exclusively (mostly due to it's convenience in these shared environments). However, I'm aware it isn't known for performance, so I need some advice on making it faster. Due to the lack of documentation when I first went the way of mpm-itk, I included only one setting in the config, and that was to limit each user to 50 clients (the rest I left up to defaults): <IfModule mpm_itk_module> MaxClientsVHost 50 </IfModule> Are there any better alternatives available? Are there any settings supported in mpm-prefork or mpm-worker that are also supported in mpm-itk? Thanks!

• Virtualbox two networks slow

  I am running an Ubuntu server guest on Win 7 guest, and am running a webrick server (RoR dev). If I have just a host-only network, everything works fine and the browser response is instant. However, if I add a second network (NAT), so that the server can connect to the internet (for various updates etc.), the host-to-guest access gets really slow. I can't use the bridge connection. I am using the port 3000 (RoR Webrick server) and connecting to the guest via internet browser on this port (eg http://192.168.56.102:3000). Any idea, what could be causing this? • Centos livecd of current installation

  I'm trying to create a liveCD of my current Centos installation. i want it to be almost like a backup, so whenever I want to copy my current installation to another computer I would simply install from my custom liveCD. I know this is possible, and found some resources in the nets, but they all seem to only create a minimal version of CENTOS, and I'm wanting to have all the current functionalities available to me at present, including all of my development functionalities, Apache and samba settings, etc. I have done (on Debian though) it a few years ago, but can't remember how. could anyone please shed me a light on this?
