  • Invisible boundary on Synergy client

    I have a Desktop system (named 'desktop') with 2 monitors attached (one 1680x1050 and another 1920x1080 resolution), running a synergy server. I also have a small ITX machine (named 'tiny') to my right that has a single monitor running at 1280x1024. The dual-monitor desktop is the synergy "server" and the single monitor system is the "client". Synergy works fine with one exception; if I move the mouse to the client, I can't move my mouse below the top two-thirds of the screen - it just stops. I can grab a mouse attached to the computer, and it moves all the way down, but as soon as I touch the mouse attached to the server, it jumps back to the top of the screen.   • What language yields most rapid development of a SOAP client application

    I have written a SOAP client application. It started off as Perl but I needed it to have proper multithreaded capabilities, so I rewrote it in C++ which was a horrendous experience and the development time was many many times more than that of the Perl bot. I need to implement a new SOAP client and I was wondering what peoples opinions were about choice of language with regards to fastest development time. C++ is clearly not well suited to web services type programming so there is no way I am going to write in C++ again.

  • xmpp flow -server, client and library

    My complete requirement is development of a chat engine - including server, clients etc. Currently I am working on things at my desktop only but once done, I have to host it; basically incorporate it with in a site for chatting purpose. So, now my problem is: I am not clear about how the actual data flow is? I have googled and read about xmpp (a book by Peter Andre) also but I am not clear about the flow and what are the actual requirements to do the above mentioned task. What I currently know is: 1) I need a server - so selected ejabberd 2) I need client - still not sure which one to use and one other doubt is how this client thing will work when deployed on some website for chatting purpose. 3) Some library - don't know which one and what is the purpose? Can anyone guide me?

    We have just released an official certification exam for Oracle ADF Development.  This exam is aimed that those who are already getting hands-on with ADF and would like an official certification of their development skills. I was involved in writing some of the exam questions and this was an interesting experience.  We were looking to test not only a knowledge of the framework, but also a practical application of that knowledge.  Trying to do that in a clear question which related to multiple choice questions was sometimes difficult but I think we’ve produced a testing exam which, if you pass, shows a strong practical knowledge of ADF.   • Ways to prevent client seeing my code

    I've got a bit of a strange problem.. Basically, I'm building a fairly complex (un-compiled, interpreted) program in Python. I've been working on most of this code for other purposes for a few months, and therefore don't want my client to be able to simple copy and paste it and then try and sell it (it's worth a fair amount). The other problem is that I need the script to run on a server that my client is paying for. Is there any way I can secure a particular folder on the machine from root access, make it so only one particular can access the directory? The OS is Ubuntu.

    I have been using Pidgin as an all-in-one IM client, but now as Empathy is the default app in Ubuntu I wanted to try it out. I have a sametime account at an external company that is keen to restrict access to their service from certain sametime client versions only. I was able to trick it with pidgin by specifying the following settings in accounts.xml: <setting name='client_minor' type='int'>8510</setting> <setting name='client_major' type='int'>30</setting> <setting name='client_id_val' type='int'>4876</setting> I tried to do the same in Empathy but I failed. As far as I know, Pidgin and Empathy use the same connector Plugin for sametime, so basically the functions should be there somewhere but there is little information about the configuration files and that doesn't discuss any sametime specific options.

  • Browser connects to WCF service but not my WCF client. What can be the reason?

    On a production server (Windows Server 2003 SP2) I can connect to a remote WCF service with Internet Explorer 8: When I browse to the URL http://www.domain.com/Service.svc (where my service listens) I get the expected info page of the service displayed. Connection settings in Internet Explorer only specify "auto detect", proxy settings are disabled. If I start a console application (built with WCF in .NET 4.0) on the same server which also tries to connect to the same WCF service it fails telling me that no endpoint was available listening on http://www.domain.com/Service.svc. Which settings might be wrong or missing? What could I test and how can I get more detailed error messages to better identify the problem? Thank you in advance!

I've installed SOAPlib and I've tried to read their Client documentation, but I don't understand it too well.   • User created Validator wont call Client side validation Javascript on 'complex' user control.

    Hi All, I have created a user control (from System.Web.UI.UserControl), and created my own validator for the user control (from System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseValidator). Everything works ok until I try to get the user control to do client side validation. While trying to debug this issue I have set 'Control to Validate' to a text box instead of the custom user control, and the client side script works fine! It appears to me that it has an a issue with my composite user control I have created. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Has anyone else seen client side validation fail on custom user controls? Some extra info : The composite control is a drop down list and 'loader image', as it is a ajax enabled drop down list (using ICallbackEventHandler).   • Win Server 2k and Win 7 client

    I have a Win Server 2000 system with AD configured. The network consists of an OKI printer, a network server, a wifi router a Win 2k client and the server. I'm trying to connect a Win 7 client. The purpose of the network, besides sharing equipment is to move files from client to client and scatter backups over more than 1 machine. The Win 7 client is configured for DHCP and does in fact receive it's IP and DNS configuration from the server and it sees the printer, wifi router and network drive, but does not see the Win 2k client nor the Win 2k server. I have tried the LAN Management Authentication Level set to 'Send LM & NTLM responses' with the 128 bit encryption removed. I've also done the registry hack on the key 'LmCompatibilityLevel'. Neither of these have helped. I have two questions: Is there a fix or is Win 2k totally incompatible? Is the best (or quickest/cheapest) fix to upgrade the server to Win 2k3 and not worry about the Win 2k client? Thanks for any help. Ray Kruse Buffalo, KY
