• Run sub on main thread from separate thread [VB.NET|SerialPort]

  I'm reading data from a serial port, but the DataReceived event of SerialPort is handled on it's own thread. I want to handle this on the main thread, but simply declaring an event and raising it still results in it being processed on the SerialPort thread. I'm assuming I need to declare a delegate I can call, but I don't see how that would work. For example, I want to call Sub HandleDataReceived() on the main thread from the DataReceived thread, having HandleDataReceived() run on the main thread. How would I do this?

This is probably simple but I haven't found an answer. rndStr = "20101215" rndStr2 = "20101216" str = "Looking at dates between 20110316 and 20110317" outstr = re.sub("(.+)([0-9]{8})(.+)([0-9]{8})",r'\1'+rndStr+r'\2'+rndStr2,str) The output I'm looking for is: Looking at dates between 20101215 and 20101216 But instead I get: P101215101216 The values of the two rndStr's doesn't really matter. Assume its random or taken from user input (I put static vals here to keep it simple). Thanks for any help.

  I have created a script that requires my microphone. It uses the HTML5 speech recognition API. Chrome asks permission every time I want to perform a speech recognition test. • Creating a sub site in SharePoint takes a very long time

  Hi, I am working in a MOSS 2007 project and have customized many parts of it. There is a problem in the production server where it takes a very long time (more than 15 minutes, sometimes fails due to timeouts) to create a sub site (even with the built-in site templates). While in the development server, it only takes 1 to 2 minutes. Both servers are having same configuration with 8 cores CPU and 8 GIGs RAM. Both are using separate database servers with the same configuration. The content db size is around 100 GB. More than a hundred subsites are there. What could be the reason why in the other server it will take so much time? Is there any configuration or something else I need to take care? Thanks a lot, all helps are appreciated.

• SubSonic Change DropDown Value for Load Drops SUB

  I used the subsonic generator to create some aspx pages, It works fine. On some of the pages it automaticaly generated the dropdown boxes for foreign key values. How Can change that value in the load drops code? Or where I need to change it. For instance I have a workers table and a workersweek table. The workers table has a workerid,firstname and lastname field and the workersweek has a workerID field. The generator automatically set it up to show the firstname in the dropdown. I want to change the value to be both firstname and lastname. I am sure I will have to add code that does something like firstname + " " + Lastname. I am just not sure where to do it withing the code that was generated. I see the load drops sub, but it does not seem like that is the one I need to modify.

  Hello, am a newbie in ruby on rails and am stuck with a simple problem of routing. I have my controller 'sub' and the 'Views' folder containing the add,edit,new erb files. In my routes file, i have 'map.resources :subs'. Until now, everything is fine. Problem: I moved the add,edit,new erb files into a subfolder called 'admin' inside the 'Views' main directory. I have no idea how to call those erb files from that 'admin' subdir. By default, it is looking for /app/views/subs/index.html.erb, and i want it to look in /app/views/subs/admin/index.html.erb Please can anyone tell me how to do this. Many many thanks

• Need help with a sub query/group/order (get latest comment for each ordered topic)

  Hey guys I have a query that currently finds the latest comment for each of a user's topics and then orders topics by that comment's timestamp. What I want to do is expand on this query's use and print the latest comment for each topic. The problem with this query is that while it orders the topics correctly, it prints seemingly random comments for each topic. I am trying to implement a sub query but I am not quite sure how to approach it. I was thinking that I just had to somehow use this query to get the comments. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. • why lynx browser sometimes can open a page that normal browser can not

  I found a really interesting peculiarity of Lynx while trying to write an application using bitcoin. The problem is that although the bitcoin site does not always open with modern browsers like Google Chrome or Firefox, it always opens using the Lynx browser. The same peculiarity appears with some other web-sites. I was wondering what the reason could be for this but was not able to come up with any. Any ideas, or this is just coincidence?

  I have a ThinkPad X61, and I'd like to configure sensitivity of the Synaptics pointing stick scrolling feature on a per-application basis. I did this about 4 years ago on my ThinkPad T41, using a configuration file - but I can no longer find any info on this configuration file, and there are no configuration files under C:\Program Files\Synaptics. The pointing stick is usually known as TrackPoint or UltraNav in IBM material. Specifically, I'm trying to reduce scrolling sensitivity in Google Chrome on a Windows 7 64-bit X61 ThinkPad.

• Chrome Facebook Connect Window Resize

  I am experiencing a weird issue in Google Chrome for Mac OS X (10.6). I am using the JS Facebook Connect library and FB.Connect.streamPublish to share a story on a users profile. If the user is already logged in to Facebook prior to coming to the share page on my site, there's no problem - the window opens as an absolutely positioned div above the rest of my site. If the user is not logged in, though, a pop-up window opens that asks the user to log in. This works perfectly in Firefox, but when using Chrome, when the Facebook login window opens, it starts gradually resizing itself until it becomes a narrow column - when manually resizing the window, it gradually reverts back to the narrow column. I googled this problem and found that some users are experiencing the same issue, but I could not find a solution. Does anybody know anything about this?   I have the following code and i have a problem in ensuring part of it is used when a IE browser is used, and remove it when any other browser is used: $.ajax({ url: 'http://mapit.mysociety.org/areas/'+ulo, type: 'GET', cache: false, crossDomain: true, dataType: 'jsonp', success: function(response) { This works fine in IE9 because I have put the dataType as jsonp. But this will not work on Chrome or FF. So I need to remove the dataType. I tried this: <!--[IF IE]> dataType: 'jsonp', <![endif]--> But it did not work. It's worth noting, it does not need the dataType set when in FF or Chrome as it's json. Whats the correct syntax to have this work ? Thanks Andrew

  I have AutoHotkey set up in a way that is recognises Cmd-Left and Cmd-Right keystrokes as back/forward navigation in Chrome. Problem is that it also recognises those keys being pressed while I am entering text in textboxes. However when entering text, I'd would like those key combinations to carry out different function - jump to beginning/end of the line, similar to Ctrl-Left/Right. Is there a way to have one mapping working for text boxes and another mapping for everything else in AutoHotkey?

• Looking for a AutoZoom browser plugin

  I have a pretty large 24" wide screen with a pretty high resolution. When I browse, some sites have a fixed layout and there is basically a narrow column. So I typically zoom in to the point just before the level where I have to scroll horizontally. Is there a browser plugin that auto-zooms in (or via a button or gesture or whatever) to the max available real estate? I'd prefer a plugin for Chrome, but Firefox will do too.

  i want to get the height property of a object: thisImage = $('#topContent img').get(index); so long no problem, but then i want to get the height like this: thisImage.height; i thought it was equvivilent to: thisImage.height(); or: thisImage.css("height"); but neither does work for me. And the greatest problem is that thisImage.height; Dose not work in chrome. Have i missed something or is this a known bug? is there another way to get the height in chrome?

  I am testing the <colgroup> tag on a 5 columns table, with a style attribute. I can't seem to make it work on firefox 3.6/chrome 5 tho, and this is when I started searching for the reference on w3c. It seemed like my code was perfectly fine, but looking at the w3c editor I noticed not even that was working. Only IE8 seems to work correctly, opera 10.51 ignores the style tag but applies the align tag correctly, while ffox and chrome seems to ignore colgroup completely. So what am I (and w3c) doing wrong? Was colgroup deprecated and I missed it?

• Cannot login to drupal in Chrome or Firefox, but Safari works

  Problem: Login is not working in Firefox and Chrome but it does in Safari. Details: We just moved a drupal 6 installation to another host and followed some steps: Moved sites/site1/Themes/themeFolder to sites/all/Themes/themeFolder Made these changes in page-node-NNN.tpl.php files (searched all files in themes/themeFolder): 1) find: /oldpath/ replace: /newpath/ 2) find: oldsubdomain. replace: www. 3) find: .com/sites/ replace: .com/newpath/sites/ Then as I login it fails in any browser when the wrong information is entered but when it is correct it simply redirects to that users profile page...and then nothing. There are no admin menus, no edit buttons for content and it is a though it authenticated but somehow never stored anything that would help with the authentication later. The strange thing is that for 3 people with three different systems Firefox and Chrome don't work. But Safari does. We have ruled out that it is the database or old cookies. Any one have a good guess?

When I try to open pages which are associated with Microsoft (like Live and others), my browser crashes; Internet Explorer 8 crashes too. But Opera (I've installed it later) works fine with those pages. P.S. I tried to scan my PC for trojans and viruses, but it's clean.

• StackOverflow Site Layout Problem in Chrome

  I was cleaning up one of my questions here and noticed that Stack Overflow's comments were overflowing into the right column in Chrome. The question is, what's the difference in CSS handling between Chrome and Firefox. I don't have access to Safari, Opera, et al. Can someone tell me in which browsers the error manifests? Is it just me? Here's the layout error: (my apologies to Tim Down for covering up his name with my comment bubble) Since I have no natural skill for good layouts and the whole process makes me sad, I wonder if someone can diagnose the error on StackOverflow and make a recommendation on how to avoid it. Is this a consequence of embedding a div inside a td? Plus I admit it. It's fun to point out an error on one of the greatest sites ever.
