• What is a convenient base for a bignum library & primality testing algorithm?

  Hi, I am to program the Solovay-Strassen primality test presented in the original paper on RSA. Additionally I will need to write a small bignum library, and so when searching for a convenient representation for bignum I came across this [specification][1]: struct { int sign; int size; int *tab; } bignum; I will also be writing a multiplication routine using the Karatsuba method. So, for my question: What base would be convenient to store integer data in the bignum struct? Note: I am not allowed to use third party or built-in implementations for bignum such as GMP. • FBML in Rails views using Facebooker

  Hi all, I have successfully wired up a Facebook Connect application and everything is working fine. I can sign new users up with Facebook, or I can link existing users with Facebook. No problems there. However, now I am trying to add an Invite page, where a user can see which of their Friends have the application, and then show them a Facebook FMBL Multi Select form to invite friends into it. Here is the documentation for that FBML tag. http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Connect/Integrating_an_Invite_Form_into_Your_Website#Creating_a_Full_Multi-friend_Selector_Request_or_Invite However, I cannot get this to work within my Rails view. Do I need to setup something special to use FBML in my Rails views? • How do you send email invites to people who have been invited by users of your website?

  We've developed a web application where people can sign-up on our website to make use of our service. We have a functionality that allows users to send invites to their friends by looking up their contacts on Gmail, Yahoo Mail etc. My question is - do we have to use a 3rd party email management software like a MailChimp or SendGrid to send such emails or should we send them directly? If we send the emails directly and if the recipients start marking those emails as spam, isn't there a very high chance that we might get banned by Gmail, Yahoo etc.?

• How to automize multiple projects build process by including digital signature of exe in Delphi?

  After building a project group of 2 projects with Delphi (2009) I digitally sign the 2 exes using InstallAware Code signing, an exe that shipped with Delphi 2009. How is it possible to automize the digital signature, so when I build I can also attach digital signature. For digital signing I use a pvk (private key) file and an spc (Sw publisher certificate) file. Subquestion: Moreover I created a project group because I have 2 exes, but they are almost the same, the only thing that changes is the Application icon and the application name (one is ProductOne.dpr, the other is ProductTwo.dpr). In practice I have 2 brands of the same product, I have a single build but activation keys details activate one or the other, anyway now I was asked to change the icon and the filename, and for this I need to build 2 projects, activation key is not enough anymore to distinguish between the 2. Anyway if there is a way to do this from a single project it would be better.

• where do I submit the ipad apps?

  I read Apple is allowing developers to submit iPad apps for the great opening of the ipad store, but I cannot find anything in my account that says that or allows sending the apps. Another thing is: in order for an app to be accepted you have to sign it with your own certificate but to do that you have to select the device on Xcode. As far as I know, Xcode do not signs with certificates applications that run on the simulator. Beyond that, any try to build a distribution package on Xcode shows messages like "you should disable armv6", and others. So, I ask. Is this news true? If yes, how to I manage to have the app ready for iPad and ready for submission? thanks.

• .NET interop COM DLL behaves differently in VB6 debugger

  I have a .NET v2.0 Dll that exposes a few classes to COM. The assembly is called BLogic.DLL I'm calling these classes from a legacy visual basic 6.0 application. I can generate and EXE file and if I have Blogic.dll in the same folder as the EXE, the program runs without a hitch. However If I try and launch the same program within the VB6 debugger I get a: Automation Error The system cannot find the file specified I assume when I'm running in the debugger, the PLogic.dll file can't be found. I tried putting it in the System32 folder, and the same folder as the VB6.EXE file, but I still get the same error. Other facts that may help: PLogic.dll is NOT a strongly-named assembly. It depends on a 3rd party reference that isn't strongly signed so VS doesn't let me strongly sign it. However the 3rd party functionality isn't being called by the VB6 code, and it is not ComVisible.

  I use JLS extensively both as a learning and teaching resource, but I've noticed that there are some errors in it. There's the simple typos (e.g. JLS 5.1.4 "convesions"), but there's also some that I consider quite serious errors. For example, JLS 18.1 The Grammar of the Java Programming Language is supposed to be the authoritative reference for the grammar of the Java language, but it contains a production rule that never gets used! (e.g. MoreStatementExpressions). Surely this is a sign of more serious errors in other parts of the given grammar, right? So is there an errata for the 3rd edition? Will there ever be? Should we send errors we've found to Sun/Oracle? Will there ever be a 4th edition?

• Seemingly normal link does not work in MVC, IIS5, SparkView.

  I have a regular link being generated in MVC1.0 as: /Login/Logout This link does not work. The code for it is: <a href="${Links.Logout}" class="SignOut">Sign out</a> As I am using SparkView. I am using IIS5.1 on WinXP Pro. I cannot work out why the link on the page calls the MVC action if I open the link in a separate browser tab but not when I click directly on it in the original page. This feels like a browser bug (Chrome, Firefox, IE8) but they all perform the same way. Thanks, Matt.

I need to give users the ability to pick a business card template and then update the text with their own information. Then I need to create a PDF proof for the user to sign off on, as well as create a hi-rez pdf for print. Can anyone point me in the right direction? • Reloading Rails Directories on Change for Dev: Not Lib!

  I have checked out several questions on this, including all of those you see next to the question. Unfortunately, I'm not working with a plugin, and I don't want to work in lib. I have a directory called File.join(Rails.root, 'classes') and I'd like the classes in this directory to reload automatically in dev. In my environment.rb I have this line config.load_paths << File.join(Rails.root, 'classes') which works fine and blows up if the path isn't there. The reloading line in my development.rb also works fine require_dependency File.join(Rails.root, 'classes', 'blah.rb') which blows up if the file is not there (a good sign). However, the file doesn't reload. This all works if the file is in the root of lib and I use the require_dependency line, but my whole point is to get stuff out of lib as suggested here.

• Replay attacks for HTTPS requests

  Let's say a security tester uses a proxy, say Fiddler, and records an HTTPS request using the administrator's credentials-- on replay of the entire request (including session and auth cookies) the security tester is able to succesfully (re)record transactions. The claim is that this is a sign of a CSRF vulnerability. What would a malicious user have to do to intercept the HTTPS request and replay it? It this a task for script kiddies, well funded military hacking teams or time-traveling-alien technology? Is it really so easy to record the SSL sessions of users and replay them before the tickets expire? No code in the application currently does anything interesting on HTTP GET, so AFAIK, tricking the admin into clicking a link or loading a image with a malicious URL isn't an issue.

• Programmatically adding a trusted cert in Java

  I use SSL to communicate between two components written in Java. I can't use a CA, so I have to self-sign everything. Unfortunately, this means that when I try to handshake, I get a SunCertPathBuilderException. I can create my own X509TrustManager that just trusts everything, but that sort of defeats the purpose of having a signed cert. I would like, when first making the connection, to prompt the user with "SSL handshake with invalid cert. Add cert to store?" or something so they could have it added for them to their certificate store, like web browsers do at sites with invalid certs. I can find plenty of examples online of adding a cert to the store through the commandline, but I can't figure out how to do it programmatically. Is there a way to do this?

• Sending a signup confirmation email with having to confirm using Devise

  Hi all, I'm using devise to handle user authentication with my rails app. I'd like to allow my users to sign up and be instantly logged in and receive a confirmation email. Devise has the Confirmable module which sends out an email but requires the user to open up their mail application, find the email and click a link which then leads them to the site again. I'd like to just email the user a confirmation that they signed up and that's it. Is there a way for devise to do this or do I need to resolve to handling ActionMailer myself (if so, is there a quick and non-complex example)? Many thanks! -Tony

• Ordering the calling of asynchronous methods in c#

  Hi, Say I have 4 classes ControllerClass MethodClass1 MethodClass2 MethodClass3 and each MethodClass has an asynchronous method DoStuff() and each has a CompletedEvent. The ControllerClass is responsible for invoking the 3 asynchronous methods on the 3 MethodClasses in a particular order. So ControllerClass invokes MethodClass1.DoStuff() and subscribes to MethodClass1.CompletedEvent. When that event is fired, ControllerClass invokes MethodClass2.DoStuff() and subscribes to MethodClass2.CompletedEvent. When that event is fired, the ControllerClass invokes MethodClass3.DoStuff() Is there a best practice for a situation like this? Is this bad design? I believe it is because I am finding it hard to unit test (a sure sign) It is not easy to change the order I have an uneasy, code-smell feeling about it What are the alternatives in a situation like this?

• Group by/count in LINQ against SQL Compact 3.5 SP2

  Hello, I am using LINQ-To-Entities in C# and run queries against a SQL Compact Server 3.5 SP2. What I try to achieve is a simple group by with an additional where clause which includes a Count(). var baseIdent="expression"; var found=from o in ObservedElements where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent==baseIdent group o by o.ID into grouped where grouped.Count()==1 select new {key=grouped.Key, val=grouped}; foreach(var res in found){ //do something here } This query throws the famous exception "A parameter is not allowed in this location. Ensure that the '@' sign and all other parameters are in a valid location in the SQL statement." When I either omit the where clause OR directly enter the expression "expression" in the query (where o.ObservedRoots.BaseIdent=="expression") everything just works fine. Does anybody know how to solve this? Workaround would also be fine? Thanks in advance, Sebastian

• Facebooker Session is not created when config.cache_classes = true

  I am using Facebooker (along with devise & devise_facebook_connectable). The problem is that user can't sign in with Facebook Connect in production environment unless I set config.cache_classes to false (which I don't want to do in production obviously). When cache_classes = true, Facebooker::Session.current is nil. Trying to set it manually creates other problems, so I assume it's not the solution. Using Rails 2.3.8 (tried on 2.3.5 too) and Facebooker 1.0.70 (tries on 1.0.69 too) and passenger 2.2.11. Any hints?

  I recently attended a talk by a Sun engineer Charlie Hunt regarding performance. The talk was interesting enough but one question was regarding release date of 1.7. He said it's delayed as there are parties who are refusing to sign off JSRs they own and thus preventing the 1.7 release. It apparently has something to do with the cost of determining your Sun compliance. I would be interested to know the full story if anyone knows or can point me in the right direction.   After signing a jar , we can retrieve the public keys from jar using Certificate[] cert = jarentry.getCertificates(); Once certificate is extracted we can save this to a new keystore as trusted cert. Once this is done , then second user can sign any jar using this certificate , isn't ? I want to distribute content as jars , contents will contain properties files for a application init. I want to make sure that an user is not capable to rebuilding the property files using the certificate he extracted from jarentry. In the code which reads the jar contents i am checking that jar is signed with my certificate only and also checking that jar is not tampered with . But the issue came to my mind that if i am able to extract the cerificate from jar then why don;t a third guy ? Can any one help me in this............

  hi everyone, i'm extremely rookie on this security field, so please forgive if my questions are dumb. i am asked to convert and migrate couple "Lotus Forms" forms to our software that is written in java. One thing in forms that bother me is digital signatures. These forms can be signed by digital signatures, probably generated by "Silanis Approve-it". as i have said before, i dont have much knowledge about this technology. and strangely couldnt find any tutorial or example of integrating digital signature and java. So what are the possibilities here ? how my code read a digital signature, sign a document with this signature? There should be an API or something that is provided by vendors right :)

But i dont want this.I have to check,whether the clciked item is parent,if it is so then i will skip this coding.Only when i click the child items it will go to this coding. How can i do that?How can i identify the selected item is parent.

  Hi, I have an array of hashes like following [ { :foo => 'foo', :bar => 2 }, { :foo => 'foo', :bar => 3 }, { :foo => 'foo', :bar => 5 }, ] I am trying to sort above array in descending order according to the value of :bar in each hash. I am using sort_by like following to sort above array. a.sort_by { |h| h[:bar] } However above sorts the array in ascending order. How do I make it sort in descending order? One solution was to do following: a.sort_by { |h| -h[:bar] } But that negative sign does not seem appropriate. Any views?
