  • Network shares do not mount

    My network shares were mounting fine yesterday.. suddenly they are not. They were mounting fine for the last two weeks or however long since I added them.   • iPhone contact list emptied due to faulty sync?

    When I'm in an area with unreliable AT&T cell data reception (e.g. all of Manhattan during the day), my contact list sometimes disappears, and does not reappear for an extended period of time, sometimes hours. Does anyone know why this would happen? Would using manual-only sync remedy this? If I'm using manual sync by turning push sync off, how do I trigger a manual sync?

  • How to disable/enable network, switch to Wifi in Android emulator?

    I'm working on a Push Notifications library for Android (http://deaconproject.org/) that needs to take action if network connectivity is interrupted or changed - namely, it needs to re-initiate a server connection or pause its operation until network connectivity is available. This seems to work fine using and Android BroadcastReceiver for "android.net.ConnectivityManager.CONNECTIVITY_ACTION". My problem is in testing the library - I would like to automatically test the library's response to a broken network connection, or a transition from 3G to WiFi, under various configuration conditions. The problem is, I don't want to sit with the emulator and hit F8 all day. Is there a way to programmatically manipulate network connections on Android from within a jUnit test without resorting to toggling Airplane Mode? I've already tried issuing commands to the emulator via the console, manipulating the GSM mode, etc, but while the phone state changes on the display, the Internet connection remains up.

    I want to use RestSharp to POST something somewhere. I'm posting straight JSON (and not POCOs). Because I'm posting plain JSON, I believe I need to use this workaround instead of setting Body: request.AddParameter( "application/json", myJsonString, ParameterType.RequestBody); This works fine when I'm not compressing the JSON. When I do, using this: request.Headers.Add("Content-Encoding", "gzip"); request.AddParameter( "application/json", GZipStream.CompressString(myJsonString), ParameterType.RequestBody); This doesn't work. I stepped through the code and in RestClient::ConfigureHttp, I see: http.RequestBody = body.Value.ToString(); Since I'm giving at a byte array, body.Value is set to System.Byte[] Is there a way for RestSharp to handle a gzipped json string in a POST request?

    I'm trying to install Android SDK on Ubuntu but fail when I try to use the SDK Manager and AVD Manager to install Android platforms. I've downloaded: android-sdk_r04-linux_86.tgz The I start the SDK Manager and AVD Manager (UI) according to the README file: ./tools/android And I get the following Installed Packages: - Install SDK Tools, revision 4 Available Packages: - https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repoisotry/repository.xml - This repository requires a more recent version of the Tools. Please update- - Android SDK Tools, revision 4 - Archive for Linux (comment: funny since rev 4 seems to be what's installed this is what seems to be installed) Now doing an update of the Android SDK Tools, revision 4 or everything results in 99% progress and then the application hangs.   • WCF, Metadata and BIGIP - Can I force the correct url for the WSDL items?

    We have a WCF service hosted on ServerA which is a server with no-direct Internet access and has a non-Internet routable IP address. The service is fronted by BIGIP which handles SSL encryption and decryption and forwards the unencrypted request to ServerA (at the moment it does NOT actually do any load balancing, but that is likely to be added in the future) on a specific port. What that means is that our clients would be calling the service through https://www.OurDomain.com/ServiceUrl and would get to our service on http://SeverA:85/ServiceUrl through the BIGIP device; When we browse to the WSDL published on https://www.OurDomain.com/ServiceUrl all the addresses contained in the WSDL are based on the http://SeverA:85/ServiceUrl base address We figured out that we could use the host headers setting to set the domain, but our problem is that while this would sort out the domain, we would still be using the wrong scheme – it would use http://www.OurDomain.com/ServiceUrl while we need it to be Https. Also – as we have other services (asmx based) hosted on that server we had some issues setting the host headers, and so we thought we could get away with creating another site on the server (using, say, port 82) and set the host header on that; now, on top of the http/https problem we have an issue as the WSDL contains the port number in all the urls, where BigIP works on port 443 (for the SSL) Is there a more flexible solution than implementing Host Headers? Ideally we need to retain flexibility and ease of supportability. Thanks for any help…

    I just wanted to clarify my understanding of ASP .NET MVC (current version is 4). I was reading this article on How does ASP.NET MVC work? So, how does ASP.NET know how to route requests to MVC? The answer lies in web.config. There is a new http module added to modules collection in ASP.NET MVC projects So basically an mvc application is implemented as an HTTPModule or at least the url routing portion of an mvc app? Would it be possible for one to create and register a custom routing module and then possibly create their own micro mvc framework like Sinatra in Ruby or Slim in PHP?

  • Is is possible to enable persistent cookies and disable session cookies?

    Hello, We have an application that uses a persistent cookie to store the language of the user and a session cookie for authentication. Now our site starts with a number of tests such as: javascript, cookies, flash plugin, sound and popup and only if all tests succeed you can go to the logon page. After logging in you can see the application. Now one of our clients has a serieus problem, she passes all the tests but upon logging in she goes to the default page and get's redirected tot the logon page again. (form authentication). Now I was wondering how this is possible. It's allmost like a persistent cookie is enabled (otherweise she's not able to skip the language page) and a session cookie isn't.     Suppose I have a MyWidget which contains a MySubWidget, e.g. a custom widget that contains a text field or something. I want other classes to be able to connect to signals and slots exposed by the contained MySubWidget instance. Is the conventional way to do this: Expose a pointer to the MySubWidget instance through a subWidget() method in MyWidget Duplicate the signals and slots of MySubWidget in the MyWidget class and write "forwarding" code Something else? Choice 1 seems like the least code, but it also sort of breaks encapsulation, since now other classes know what the contained widgets of MyWidget are and might become dependent on their functionality. Choice 2 seems like it keeps encapsulation, but it's a lot of seemingly redundant and potentially convoluted code that kind of messes up the elegance of the whole signals and slots system. What is normally done in this situation?

    well, since greasemonkey cant read/write files from local hard disk. I've heard people suggesting Google gears but i've no idea obout gears :( So, what i've decided is to add a script type="text/javascript" src="file:///c:/test.js"/script Now, this test will use FileSystemObject to read/write file. Since, the "file:///c:/test.js" is a javascript file from local hard disk, so it should probable be able to read/write file on my local hard disk. I tried it but firefox prevented the "file:///c:/test.js" script to read/write files from local diak :( What i want to know is: Is there any setting in firefox about:config where we can specify to let a particular script, say from localfile or xyz.com, to have read/write permission on my local disk files??

    I am creating a silverlight site. I am currently breaking out my ideas into pieces of functionality. One of the idea's I have is the concept of a content manager. This is essentially a UI control with 4 regions. Top, Bottom, Right & Left. I also have a collection of objects that are considered "Menu Items". These are controls that function as a way to navigate around, similar to links. The idea I have is to implement an IMenuItem interface. Among the standard pieces of information (Text, PageReference, etc) I was also going to hold a reference to the content manager. My idea behind this thinking is that I can pass the PageReference to a property on the ContentManager and then call a method which knows how to update the content manager accordingly. Is this the best way of implementing this or is their some sort of pattern for it?

    I am developing report using SQL Report Builder 2.0, In this I am passing the timezone offset value as a parameter (-04:00). Using "TimeZoneInfo" I am getting all the timezones available from the system. But I am checking the timezone with the offset value, so from the list available I can only get the first timezone object. Is there any other ways to get a specific TimezoneInfo from the system.     When running a macro that changes the selected text, tags are automatically closed and the text formatted. How can I prevent that from happening? For example, wrapping text in a tag: DTE.ActiveDocument.Selection.Text = String.Format("<tag>{0}</tag>", DTE.ActiveDocument.Selection.Text) Ends up with two closing tags: <tag>Text</tag></tag> Even stranger, multiple lines fails: <li>One</li> <li>Two</li> <li>Three</li> An ends up as <ul> <li>One</li> <li>Two</li> <li>Three</li></li></ul> How can I prevent that? As can be seen by the last example, the formatting is wrong and there is an extra </li>

    I currently have an ordered list that I want to markup using the new HTML 5 attributes. It looks like this: <ol class="section"> <li class="article"> <h2>Article A</h2> <p>Some text</p> </li> <li class="article"> <h2>Article B</h2> <p>Some text</p> </li> <li class="article"> <h2>Article C</h2> <p>Some text</p> </li> </ol> It seems the only way to keep the list AND use HTML 5 tags is to add a whole bunch of unnecessary divs: <section> <ol> <li> <article> <h2>Article A</h2> <p>Some text</p> </article> </li> <li> <article> <h2>Article B</h2> <p>Some text</p> </article> </li> <li> <article> <h2>Article C</h2> <p>Some text</p> </article> </li> </ol> </section> Is there a better way to do this? What are your thoughts?

  • Shift count negative or too big error - correct solution?

    I have the following function for reading a big-endian quadword (in a abstract base file I/O class): unsigned long long CGenFile::readBEq(){ unsigned long long qT = 0; qT |= readb() << 56; qT |= readb() << 48; qT |= readb() << 40; qT |= readb() << 32; qT |= readb() << 24; qT |= readb() << 16; qT |= readb() << 8; qT |= readb() << 0; return qT; } The readb() functions reads a BYTE. Here are the typedefs used: typedef unsigned char BYTE; typedef unsigned short WORD; typedef unsigned long DWORD; The thing is that i get 4 compiler warnings on the first four lines with the shift operation: warning C4293: '<<' : shift count negative or too big, undefined behavior I understand why this warning occurs, but i can't seem to figure out how to get rid of it correctly. I could do something like: qT |= (unsigned long long)readb() << 56; This removes the warning, but isn't there any other problem, will the BYTE be correctly extended all the time? Maybe i'm just thinking about it too much and the solution is that simple. Can you guys help me out here? Thanks.

    Hi, I've got the following error when builing my project. The type or namespace name 'OvuMenu' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) But I have put a using in my code and a reference to the dll. It is a WPF application that exists of 3 projects. I checked the references, even intellisense works when I put the using directive in the page. thanks, Filip
