  • Use multiple css files or a single file organised by comments

    Hi, what is regarded as the best approach to organising css. At the moment I am using a single link in the head of my xhtml documents as follows: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style/imports.css" /> In this file im importing several different css files i.e. reset.css, structure.css, skin.css I know there is an overhead in doing this as each requires an extra trip to the server but it makes things much more logical and organised in my opinion. Does anyone have an opinion on how best to organise their css. - Would it be better to put all these seperate css funcions into one single file? Also, is it best practice to minify css.

    I am trying to build a python script that will take in an XML document and remove all of the comment blocks from it. I tried something along the lines of: tree = ElementTree() tree.parse(file) commentElements = tree.findall('//comment()') for element in commentElements: element.parentNode.remove(element) Doing this yields a weird error from python: "KeyError: '()' I know there are ways to easily edit the file using other methods ( like sed ), but I have to do it in a python script.

    Hi, I am using facebook's sharer.php to post to facebook from my application. My application is hosted at //[my_domain]/[some_param]/index I am setting the title, description and the image url to be displayed on facebook in the meta tags of the page found at the above mentioned url. when i share the link facebook generates the following message to share: [some_img] [some_title] http://[my_domain]/[some_param]/index [some_message] What i need to do is either hide or change this url "http://[my_domain]/[some_param]/index" that is shown by default, since i do not want the users to see this. Instead i am passing the desired url that i want the users to see in So is there some way of doing this?

  • Groups equivalent for social plugin Facepile

    I need to do something similar to the Facepile social plugin for a site I'm working on. The problem is the client does not have have a Facebook page, but instead has a Facebook Group (with some 4000+ members). I guess I could urge the client to move their group members to a page, and I might do that in the future. But before I do I want to research how we're going to do Facebook-integration more thoroughly. For now I just need a quick fix.

  • DOMNodeInserted or hashchange

    I am trying to write a JavaScript script that is "overlayed" on top of a Facebook page. It uses DOMContentLoaded to detect when content is loaded, then adds some extra stuff in. However, because Facebook doesn't actually "reload" the page when going to a new page (it just uses AJAX), the DOMContentLoaded handler doesn't run again, even though there is new stuff to look through. Anyway, to detect the change, I thought about using onhashchange since Facebook used to change the page's hash, but in Firefox 4 (I need to support Firefox 3 and later with this, but no other browsers), Facebook doesn't change the hash anymore and in pre-Firefox 3.6 there is no onhashchange. I thought about using DOMNodeInserted, but would that really slow down the page? (I really can't have any slowdowns in this script.)

  • Add Page Tab dialog not working

    I was always using the direct Add to Page Tab URL like this: http://www.facebook.com/dialog/pagetab?app_id=238557109577754&redirect_uri=http://www.facebook.com And today that URL gives me "Sorry, something went wrong.". Did something changed on Facebook side? Or is it a temporary bug? Note that I have tried other redirect_uri params, such as the URL of the location where the app is hosted. It does always result in the same error.

  • Does Sandcastle support Entity Framework Partial Classes?

    I am attempting to use Sandcastle (and Sandcastle Help File Builder) to do some "auto-documentation" of some classes I am using. The classes that are giving me trouble are some partial classes on Entity Framework items that add methods and properties to those Framework items. The triple slash comments don't appear to come through on the methods and properties created in the partial classes. I have out how to get xml documentation of the base properties using the short summary and long description fields on the .emdx editor, but that doesn't provide a solution for the items in the partial classes. Is this possible? Is it perhaps just settings that I'm not setting correctly to pick up the partial classes? Does Sandcastle do partial classes in non-Entity Framework settings? Is what I'm doing even possible (has anyone else successfully used the xml created from triple slash comments to create documentation on entity framework partial classes, and if so how did you do that)? Any assistance is appreciated

I have integrate Facebook Connect with my iPhone app. So as per step i have to write path of src folder into 'Header path info' Field in Project Build. I have given the absolute path to 'Header path info' Field. and its run fine without any Error.. But, Now When i Move the project folder to another destination, its but obvious, that path of src folder will change… So Now after moving file, when i run an application, It gives path error. So is there any way to solve this path issue? this comes when i run an app in simulator, and i guess It also won't run in iPhone because of problem of path of src folder.     I have, what is probably a simple flash question. I have a flash countdown clock I am using in an Iframe of a facebook app. At the end of the countdown it fires this off myFlipCountDownClock.onFinish = function() { }; And I can add getURL or whatever. My problem is I need to fire off some facebook specific code. This being This does not work via getURL. My question is how could I pass this line of code? I am not sure what to do here.   • Problem sending php variables to flash game, on facebook

    When I run the app for the first time in a session it works great i get all data form Database(if i logout, and enter with a diffrent account)the swf does not receive the variables. If i run manually the script typing the url address in the browser (typing: http://myserver.com/app/variables.php), and refresh the facebook app, it receives the data perfectly.How can i fix this?I used the URLVariables, URLRequest and flashvars but still with no succes.I asked for help on many forums but without succes, apparently there are many in my situation.Could this porblem be due the fact tha facebook does not allow flash to talk outside? Any help would be highly apreciated!Thanks!!

    A crazy question: Imagine a webpage file called somepage.php And it contains some html php contents in my editor I see: <html><head></head><body> <?=$welcome . $essay . $thatsAllForNowFolks . $footer ?> <!-- Blue Ball Bell Blow Bows Bats Beef Bark Bill Boss --> </body></html> When I browse my site I see those comments in the final result, while I only want that comment to be only in my editor for my secretive inspirations and don't want the whole world to know what I'm thinking when I'm developing, as well as I see those comments for any and all my website visitors as wasted bandwitch of internet speed.   • Display username to logged in user only?

    I have a Wordpress blog set up to display comments as "Anonymous User" by hard coding it into the comments.php file. I would like to have it say the user's Username next to their comment and ONLY display that Username to THEM. In other words, if they're a guest, they'll see "Anonymous User" and if they're a registered/logged in DIFFERENT user, they'll still see "Anonymous User", but if it's THEIR comment it'll say "Your Comment" or their own username.   • FB login and privacy policy

Now i'm wondering if i need to make users check and read the my own site's privacy and policy before and accept that is some way, is this needed? The site is for text/pourpouse sharing, and you can only interact with the site after you are logged/registered, althought you can only navigate lists of users and pourpouses. thanks
